Restaurants are limited; beach is far, resort is very dated.
Nothing horrible, but walking across street to beach, not a fan Lights were broken, all of shower heads did not work Paid extra to not be by the road and we were close to road Overall wont be back
Excellent staff and customer service
We love this property!!
Staff is friendly and nice. Service is inconsistent across all areas. Room was ok but I had a bad ant problem twice. They took care of it each time but still not ideal. Food was great and beach is nice but again the long wait times and inconsistent service soured the experience.
The accommodations were different than other resorts I have stayed at and I loved it! The rooms are private “tree huts” surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens. There is a balcony with a table and two chairs as well as a day bed, perfect for enjoying morning coffee. The bathroom was nice with a walk in shower, large closet and safe for valuables. While it could have used some updates, the room and bathroom were clean and well stocked. Everyone at Sunset Palms were so friendly and helpful. Navado and Claudette were especially memorable and I hope they are there when I visit again! I can’t say enough about the pool, pool bar, Irie Martini Bar and Piano Bar! Fantastic!! I had never stayed at a resort that was not beachfront, however the walk to the beach is super short being just across the street. There is a crossing guard that stops traffic so resort guests can cross. As soon as you hit the beach there is a Sunset Palms assistant handing you towels and helping you find chairs. There is a nice beach bar and grill and they do have beach service if you don’t want to go to the bar. All the facilities were very clean. The food was good but the shining stars of this resort are the tree huts and definitely the staff! I can’t wait to return!
The beach is so pretty and the service was good many choices for food and the swimming pools are small
I love the beach and the bungalows
Very quiet and relaxing resort. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. Staff was great and very helpful. Our goal was to do absolutely nothing besides sit in the sun and drink and we accomplished that goal. We did not choose to do any excursions just based on our goal to do nothing and the short amount of days that we stayed, but if we were to do something the staff would have been able to help us with ease. Dining options were delicious and we were surprised with how good the food and drinks were with the resort being all inclusive. The beach was nice and the water was crystal clear. It was our first time in jamaica and we were unaware about the people trying to sell stuff on the beach and it could get annoying but besides that it was very enjoyable. My one complaint about the resort was that the pool was pretty cold and once the sun began to set it was too cold to stay in. Besides that we loved everything about the resort and we would definitely come back.
Quiet. Adults only. Walkable
Really nice resort with cozy accommodations. The staff is super friendly and helpful; they treat guests like family. The beach is clean and the water is so clear and beautiful. We will definitely be back!
The staff, property was amazing.. willing to make you satisfied. The food excellent. If there was a negative the shower head and curtain. Rod kept failing.. This really was inly a slight inconvenience. Wonderful will be back.
Great place is you a re looking to relax and have some quiet time. Not so great if you are very dependant on wifi/internet access. Very spotty and unreliable.
Staff was wonderful. Dining was great. The spa facilities are a joke tbh. The spa employees are great and services excellent but to have spa in the name of resort is crazy.
The individual villas were wonderful. The private beach was amazing. The staff was great and catered to our every need. A great way to spend our anniversary in this beautiful setting.
Service and people were great. Rooms were kind of average, and our room was very noisy because it was near the road. It took us way too long to get there and way too long to get from there back to the airport.
It’s a beautiful property with very nice and courteous staff. It’s more of a throw back to resorts of the 1960’s with free standing cottages so you only have one other neighbor in your building. The grounds are filled with trees and foliage. If you’re looking for nightlife, restaurants, entertainment, swim up pools and people, this is not for you. It’s quiet with a piano singer for entertainment, single buffet style restaurant for food, beach for swimming and other people for talking and communing with when company The crowd skews older and more subdued than other resorts. Many people return year after year and we plan to do the same.
Staff is awesome very relaxing place to vacay, they take care of it all.
Great staff, well manicured grounds, awesome beach and great chef
Sunset at the palms was an amazing getaway! The plants were all beautiful the staff went above and beyond, the food was so good, and the drinks are the best!
I liked the massage provided by Brenda
Traffic noise from road went all night. Food was okay, but nothing special.
The staff are extremely welcoming. The resort was immaculate as well as our luxurious accommodations. Drinks were strong. The food was amazing and the variety was remarkable. We were sad to leave but….we already are planning our return. Met many folks from all over the world, and made new lifelong friends. Love, love The Sunset at the Palms!
Felt like home away from home. Friendly staff, clean comfortable beds, and amazing food! The beach was amazing and I wasn’t ready to leave!
Excellent
I have stayed at Sunset at the Palms four times now and plan on going back in the spring. This place is so inviting. It is calm and laid back. The grounds are beautiful and the beach is one of the best on Bloody Bay. They have a great staff that try and do anything they can to make your vacation special.
Beautiful resort, great food, exceptional staff. We will be back!
My wife and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary and we had an amazing time. The staff was very punctual and very friendly. The food options were pretty good and the overall ambiance was perfect.
Absolutely incredible grounds and staff! Only suggestion would be more options when it comes to food, rather than similar daily.
So relaxing I almost thought I’d melt and never get back up. All-inclusive experience with dining and drinks (cocktails too) made this easy and convenient for every part of the day; I could grab a jiggy coffee for a spiked morning beverage or delight in a blended Miami Vice while at the private beach under a bungalow. Food was pretty good and themes varied by the day. There’s a couple restaurant-style options that take reservations that are also available in the all inclusive price. The staff were more than kind and obliging to all my wants and needs. The gardener is passionate about the grounds and it shows; it’s beautiful and cared for. The rooms are cozy and have what you need between deciding where you’re going to chill for the day. Honestly there’s lots to do in Jamaica but my calling was either beach side or pool side for my vacation; this resort didn’t leave me wanting and inspired me to take advantage of what it offered.
Our home away from home!
property was very unique being a tree house amongst the vegetation, all sorts of different foliage & the variety of birds were amazing. At night it came alive with all different calls & whistles from the wildlife. The staff at this property were amazing from sedesa [ concierge ] serving staff Timika, Claudette, Leon to name a few, pool bar staff Britany & co, Lifeguards Easy, Rasta, to name a few all were brilliant. Brenda for the massage, Jamie the porter, house keeping was also spot on. sorry I cant remember anymore names but all were brilliant. Food was really good didn't get fed up with it like I usually do after the first week. The Lotus bar was good for food off the menu. Pool was smaller than I anticipated but we were out of season so it didn't matter on this occasion. To get to the beach you need to leave the hotel & cross the main Rd where security staff stops the traffic for you to cross it all sounds a lot of bother but honestly it doesn't take 5 minutes & you wont be disappointed, best beach I have been on & the sea is warm. Again the staff that serves food & drink in the beach bar are brilliant. Also a shout out to the ground staff for keeping the grounds around the rooms clean & tidy there's also a little tour of the grounds if you want to take & they will give you all the info you need about the plants. Would definitely go back.
Absolutely beautiful!
Exceptional views and unique experience. We will be back
Very much nice and quiet. Just think it needs to be updated a little. But over all stay and staff was very nice I would stay again.
Grounds are beautiful! Staff is so friendly! Beach is fantastic! Food is good and the room is nice and comfortable. Only complaint - the hot tub was not working during our stay and they didn't have a lot of tour options you could book at the hotel, but otherwise, thoroughly enjoyed!
Beautiful property!
Very quiet and amazing everyone was nice and helpful
This was our third trip to Sunset and it is always a pleasure. Great all inclusive if you prefer small, quiet, peaceful resort.
overall great resort
Everyone was so kind and extremely helpful. Shoutout to Odine! He was our favorite. We will be coming back!
Awesome experience, friendly and accommodating staff. Good food, great activities overall great experience
Beautiful palm trees and I love the treehouse with air conditioning!!!
I go with my wife for three nights all the personal it was so friendly just food is not good And it was too far for everywhere four any activity in Jamaica
The staff was amazing! They helped us with whatever we needed! Sinclair, was a great taxi driver whenever we needed to go off the resort. Already planning a trip back!
Nice, quiet, clean and conveniently located Resort, plus beach was beautiful.
Room was great and the food was amazing. Our personal concierge, Sadesa, was very friendly and helpful. All the staff made our staff very pleasant.
The grounds and property are beautiful and set in a tropical paradise. The staff (concierge, wait staff, cleaning staff, drivers, etc.) all were friendly, obliging, and provided top notch service. Although, no fault of the resort, the intermittent rain plus humidity caused mosquitos so repellant is a must!! Lastly, the property is not "beach front" it is a small walk across the street, but a crossing guard was available to assist.
we cant wait to go back everything was amazing.
This resort was beautiful and peaceful. The staff, food and atmosphere was excellent. I highly recommend a visit as long as you don’t seek a party atmosphere.
The service made this hotel stand out. The rooms need upgrading badly! Our air conditioning went out after the first day in our first room as well as the blow dryer not working. Second room air quit working on our last full day. It was so hot that I couldn’t blow dry my hair. Called and reported, never got fixed. If they upgraded air, we would probably return, but at this point we’ll just go elsewhere.
Food wasn’t great, most of the menu options were on repeat for the week. My room smelled like mildew. Most of the staff seemed overworked and were not very friendly. In comparison to the other Riu properties that I have stayed I would rate this poor-fair.
The service was excellent fun experience
The staff at this resort goes above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay! Highly recommend!
Very quiet , if that is what you’re looking for. Small and cute
Staff was great
All of the staff members that we encountered were above and beyond expectations; namely, Cadesa, Jamie Tarine, and Dhalia, Sadesa.
Sunset at the palms was hands down the most romantic vacation we’ve ever had. It was our 20th anniversary and SATP made every effort to make sure our vacation was amazing. Kadian the concierge was awesome at making sure everyday was special for us. The staff, the food and the entertainment was all so romantic. Highly recommend this place for couples!
We love it here! Such beautiful grounds, fantastic service, kind and helpful staff, best beaches. We love the tree houses. Food is always good and we love the slow pace of this quiet and tranquil resort.
It’s very nice. Love the staff, very friendly and nice
This place is amazing! Staff is incredibly friendly and super helpful. It's a smaller resort which we liked. Food is the best we had at an all inclusive resort. Best part is the beach which is clean, warm and shallow. Only downside for us was it rained a lot and lots of mosquitoes. But that's Mother Nature for ya!! Will definitely be back, it was our 20 year anniversary and so happy we spent it there
The room was ok. There was a problem with the hot water, but they fixed it. I didn’t like the view for an upgraded room. The pros are the Customer service. They are genuine and really care about you. You are not just a number. The bartender in the main lobby was awesome. Dahlia at the front desk was awesome. Bianca was also great. I would come back again and again strictly off of Customer service. And the beach is beautiful. If you get there early enough, you can have your own hut
I wouldn’t say that the sunset at the palms was terrible but it wasn’t great either. For an all inclusive ADULTS ONLY I expected more. they really got to setup with their drink menu and add some entertainment. The taste of their cocktails was questionable and by 9pm the place was dead. It felt more like a retirement home than a vacation destination. Not to mention their pool was always dirty. Getting into the the water felt like swimming in a pond, all slimy with creatures floating around. On the bright side the room were supper pretty and clean. The staff were all super nice and friendly. This place gives expensive motel vibes, somewhere you go to eat and shower, unless maybe you’re in your 50’s then maybe the vibe might hit different
The property was beautiful, the food was amazing and the staff was great! Some of the bathrooms needed to be fixed or upgraded but would still recommend to others.
The description and pictures displayed about the property are deceiving. The property is very small and the beach is across the street and it closes at 7pm. No late night walks along the beach. When we arrived we were checked in and given two formal dinner dates and times. After being checked in we were told we were getting a tour of the property. The tour consisted of a walk in about a 20’ circle. The restaurant, pool, coffee bar, piano bar and gift shop could all be seen without leaving that circle. We were taken to our room which was disappointing. The fixtures were in need of repair. The decor was severely outdated. Outside of the window was a huge swarm of bees that were living inside of the siding. I pointed this out twice and it was never addressed. The pool has a total capacity of 12 people. Not exactly what you expect at a resort. The entertainment was basically non existent at the property. Several night you have just piano Paul playing, one night karaoke, one night a band (this was a stretch). Dinner each night was very limited with few choices. Lunch was typical grill style food but not a buffet. Breakfast was the same every morning. The pancakes and waffles were so hard you couldn’t eat them most days. Other days they had a crunch to them. Again very limited choices for breakfast. The two formal dining experiences were very poor the food wasn’t good. One of them was basically leftovers. I’ve stayed at better for a lot cheaper.
the property itself is nice and have a lot of privacy but the food options could be better and they should include room service with the price you pay instead of charging extra for it. only 1 restaurant is open most days and your other option is buffet. The food quality is pretty good but as I said they should be more options esp for lunch and snacks.
Was a great place with great staff. Staff was always happy and very helpful.
This place is exquisite!! If you are looking to go to Jamaica and have the luxury of an all inclusive but a relaxed and intimate time with your partner this is the place to go. The food was some of the best food I have ever had. The staff did a perfect job of being friendly, professional, and personal with each person here. It has been a great experience for my wife and I celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. The only downside I could say is be sure to bring big spray as the mosquitos are bad at night even though they spray every night. I cannot wait to come back to this resort again.
Sunset at the Palms is a wonderful, quiet escape. This was our second time here and we did see that some areas of the property have not been kept up very well. As well, some of the staff seemed "unhappy" and perhaps annoyed with extra requests. However, the beach is amazing! If you want to do anything or go anywhere from the resort, you either need to shop on the beach (bring american dollars), or pay through the nose for a taxi.
Beautiful, relaxing place to stay. I would recommend staying here again.
Excellent staff and good food. The beach area and beach bar was excellent.
I liked the jungle look of this place. It was very unique. Although, the amount of bugs were insane. The property is ver low key and calm. If you are looking for nightly entertainment, this is not the resort for you. The food was decent and I could always find something to eat. I found the staff to be very friendly and respectful.
This resort is definitely not like the resorts we've stayed at before but it was well received and we enjoyed our stay very much
Everything was amazing! Thank You so much!
Our stay was nice - this is a very nice resort. It is geared towards couples and isn't lively in the evening, which was a plus for me. Staff was friendly and the room was clean.
Exceeded all our expectations! The pictures don’t do it justice, and the staff is absolutely wonderful. Probably the best all inclusive resort we’ve ever experienced. We’ll definitely be back.
We had a good stay. The staff was friendly and food was good. Make sure you bring some bug spray. Definitely a more laid back crowd. This is a smaller boutique hotel so don’t expect the loud music and spring break vibe. Lots of travelers seemed to be annual visitors to this property
Love it peaceful and the chef was awesome
I had the best week at Sunset. I wanted a peaceful and tranquil week away from the busyness of day to day life and I got just that. The room was incredible, beautifully decorated and nestled in the trees - birds visited my balcony and it was so bliss laying on the lounger. I spent most of my time by the beach or pool and eating the delicious food - I recommend the jerk chicken and rice and peas. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. They really care about guest experience and making sure you have the best time. I want to give a special shout out to all the staff who made my time at sunset magical: Dahlia, Shanika, Bianka, Cornelius, Damion, Kirk, Tamika, Nadine, Fitzroy, Syllan, Claudette, Clévon, Linford and Gerald. Thank you for a wonderful stay in paradise, I will definitely be back next time in Negril.
I loved how I felt like I was part of the country and there was not a lot of concrete around. The staff were amazing and the relaxation vibe was everywhere!
Beautiful garden throughout with lots of birds.
Stayed for 4 nights with my girlfriend and very much enjoyed the experience. This place is good if you want to just lay by a beach or pool and drink and eat. There’s nothing remarkable about it, but it does all the most important things really well. Beach access is no problem and bar, food and clean bathroom facilities are all right there in addition to plenty of lounge chairs, towels and water floats. Pool is the same with the addition of the swim up bar and hot tub. Food is fine, but we weren’t expecting 5-star gourmet. For us it was tasty and plentiful. Alcohol is available everywhere without any hassle. We weren’t looking for nightlife but the karaoke night turned out to be a lot of fun and a great chance to meet other guests. Overall a true “veg-out” type stay but just what we were hoping for.
Initially, we weren't quite sure about it since you had to cross the road to get to the beach. But, it was worth it. The private, upgraded experience everywhere was fantastic. The beachfront area was so different than the neighboring concrete hotels/resorts. Private huts, butlered food and drinks, even more foilage. And the peacefulness on our balcony/porch was stunning. Definitely going to return.
We stayed here for 7 days for our honeymoon. It is very quiet and peaceful. The crowd is definitely on the older side which helps. They have a few things for entertainment, but it is pretty much just different music. The food was great! The chicken club on the lunch menu was AMAZING. Dining options were limited but the food was still amazing. All of the staff was super kind. With how small the resort is, you really feel like a guest. The drinks were strong and amazing. I loved that they gave you a plastic-reusable cup at the pool and beach so you could take your drink in the water. The water was soooooooo warm and so beautiful! They have the water sports right on the beach. We only tried paddle boarding but it was super easy to set up and find! We loved coming back from a long day at the beach to a tidy room, thanks to the housekeeping staff! The rooms are treehouse style, so there were some tiny bugs here and there, but nothing that bothered us. Sitting on the balcony and listening to the birds was so nice. Our only “complaint” was there were a few things that could have been cleaned a little better, such as the shower head/faucets/handled and a makeup mirror in the bathroom. You could tell it was just from age and being somewhat outdated. The shower was amazing though. We would definitely stay here again though, and look forward to coming back to beautiful Negril!
Extremely Disappointing Experience and Broken Promises I recently stayed at this resort for what was supposed to be a 10-day vacation, but we had to leave unexpectedly after only 4 days due to a family member’s serious illness. We completed the necessary early departure form with the concierge and were assured that we could process a partial refund for the remaining 5 days through our agent once we returned home. However, upon our return, the resort completely reneged on their initial commitment to offer a refund. This kind of bait and switch regarding their refund policy is unacceptable and highly unprofessional. Additionally, the resort failed to meet several of our expectations: Location Misrepresentation: The resort is not beach front as advertised. Limited Food Options: The options for vegetarians and vegans were minimal and subpar. Overall, the lack of integrity and follow-through from the management, combined with the misrepresentation of key aspects of the resort, led to an extremely disappointing experience. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.
My husband and I recently stay here to celebrate our 35 th wedding anniversary. I can't say enough good things about Sunset at the palms. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. Amazing staff throughout the resort no matter who they were. They all made it very special for us knowing we were there for a special occasion. This is the perfect place if you are looking for an intimate, romantic very quiet beautiful resort. We can't thank them all enough for making our trip so wonderful and special. Beautiful room, beach was gorgeous great food everything was wonderful from contacting the resort before hand and receiving a quick and gracious response to a warm welcome when we arrived to amazing service all week long. Don't miss the sit down restaurants, food was fabulous and service was top notch. Also don't miss the piano bar in the main lobby on select nights, great fun and entertainment and the drinks were the best! If your looking for a great adults only getaway and a beautiful beach this is a great place. Can't wait to return!
The staff was wonderful. I loved the "tree houses". I loved the coffee bar (although it was staffed sporadically). The food was mediocre at best. The shower head desperately needed maintenance. The water squirted in all direction - not an exaggeration! The worst was when someone l loved dearly was fatally hit by a car and l had to go home early, l was told l had to write an email explaining why l had to leave early or they would charge me a penalty fee. Since l had paid for the entire week and was not asking for a refund of any kind, l can't figure out the justification.
Great facility.
I love the gardening around the property! Rooms are more tree house style. You feel like you're staying in the jungle. The food was some of the best I've ever eaten! And the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The beach was clean and quaint. It's was so relaxing and so beautiful. I would recommend to everyone! I can't wait to go back!
Everyone was so friendly, treated us very well. Would highly recommend.
We had a very good experience at Sunset at the Palms. The welcome was wonderful, staff were friendly, food was great, and the beach was clean and beautiful. We are looking forward to a return visit!
Everyone was nice and very professional. I am not a nature person but that place is very beautiful and the food was so delicious.
Best vacation ever
Wonderful vacation, enjoyed time in this resort
Beautiful
Slept well. Bed comfy and area around resort peaceful and quiet. Air conditioning in room is great but nothing in bathroom. Shower is so hard to figure out and it’s low flow. I kinda felt like I was at campsite where you can’t get a steady temperature and wash under a slow stream. The jacuzzi’s jets are broken. It just swirls hot water but no actual jets with force. The heat/ humidity/ bugs got to me. Meals including a private pay romantic dinner are outside. You just sweat and itch constantly. I didn’t care that beach is across from street but I did care about the loud music from the bar next door and party boats going in and out all day, You also spend all day saying “no thank you” to hustlers. If you are laying, eyes closed, they will keep saying “hey, hey you” until you sit and say “ no thank you”. You can’t walk along beach peacefully. There are miles of make shift “shops” in tarps at water’s edge. You may as well be walking along the state fair midway with people yelling for your attention. The rest of beach is other resorts with their DJs. Taxi Drivers, excursion people, guides….everyone is trying to shake you down for money…they are relentless “you gonna take care of me?” Anyone that was friendly, ended up asking for money or selling something. The resort was clean and staff pleasant, food good but I’d never go to a resort without a private beach again. There is only a private SECTION. The air smells like weed everywhere and pushers everywhere. I would not return.
The hotel is very nice. Grounds are well kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though you have to cross the street to get to the beach, there’s a crossing guard on duty and once you get to beach is totally worth it. Beautiful clean beach with plenty of palapas. Will recommend and most likely stay at Sunset on the Palms again.
This was our 11th time there and We would not think about staying anywhere else.Mr. Bloomfield and his staff are amazing and always make you feel welcome. We call it our second home. Wonderful place.
Another great stay here . staff very pleasant and helpful , grounds well maintained . only real complaint was food . not much variety what so ever . Also no fruit for drinks , limes ect. Also pool was severly cloudy all week .

Lovely resort. Quiet and peaceful. Wonderful staff. Excellent food. Beautiful beach. We had a fantastic week and look forward to our next visit.
