Amazing!!!
We loved it!!! The staff was amazing and the resort is sweet and perfect for us and our 3 year old daughter. Would def recommend!
This is a charming mountain resort! Our stay was great and we especially loved that we could bring our dog. Our room was nice, private and comfortable. I loved the walking trails to each part of the property. The restaurants were delicious and the staff very accommodating. The overall service and experience was wonderful. We had Thanksgiving here and it couldn’t have been more delightful. The resort is building a large building that was kind of an eye sore but everything else was decorated beautifully.
The good: beautiful rustic setting. Grounds are stunning. Restaurant was excellent— quality and reasonable prices for a world class resort. We went two nights and were wowed both times. Studio room had a private hot tub. Staff was warm & courteous. The bad: restaurants and snacks onsite are remote and hard to get to, private hot tub only lukewarm, and pools/whirlpool inconvenient to our unit. No courtesy water in room for over $400 a night. The very, very bad: we had a unit with several flights of stairs going down. My fiancé slipped due to the snow/wet floors so we spent a day of our expensive stay at an emergency room. We needed valets to carry our luggage up and down and we’re fit. Lastly, our neighbors (above us) kept us up with walking in their boots half the night. I would never stay there again if I had to share a wall or ceiling.
Beautiful property, excellent accommodations. They have a shuttle that will take you anywhere on the resort, easy parking, beautiful views, and the restaurants were excellent highly recommend.
Very relaxing and peaceful, everyone was very kind!
Cool place
Amazing getaway!
The views cottage we stayed in
Loved this place!! Food - delicious, staff - xlnt, spa massages- incredible, amazing beauty everywhere!!! Only issue was very noisy upstairs neighbors. They comped a few incidentals….
The property is gorgeous, and everything is mainly within walking distance; however, until you got used to where everything is, it wasn't properly signed to show you to some of the areas especially on the paths down the hill from a lot of the rooms. The restaurants were great, the Springs are very nice, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
Not ADA accessible. Restaurant and bar very limited
I struggled to figure out the kitchen situation with the rooms before booking. We booked a Sundance suite and my daughter booked a standard. The rooms were similar with suite being larger. The suite had an entryway, fireplace; 2 seat table, a larger kitchenette with mini fridge (tiny freezer--16 x 4ish?), 10 cup coffee maker, microwave, and a portable electric burner. The suite also had a small deck (with forest view) and a larger bathroom space with one sink and a large soaking tub. The pictures of a full kitchen on Expedia in the Sundance suite are wrong. The standard room did not have an entry, was a decent size with a fire place, small outdoor space (less of a view, 2 seat table, tiny kitchen ish space (mini fridge with tiny freezer, small microwave, and small coffee maker), and a smaller bathroom than the suite. There are walkways to get down to the Springs (spa pools) and restaurants (10 minutes walk downhill)--some of path lights off after 9:00 so bring flashlight if walking back. Fitness center is really only if you want a small weights room. Elliptical wasn't working, one treadmill, one ancient stairmaster elliptical hybrid that was in terrible condition. Tara, who taught my jewelry class was great--highly recommend! I have been taking silversmithing classes at various times over the years, so I know she is well qualified, but also a good instructor. We enjoyed the Owl bar and the Foundry for meals and drinks. The bakery items at the Sundance deli were good.
We stayed in 1 BR Suite. It was a really good experience
Despite pictures on the website showing a lovely room with a fireplace the “standard” room was the extra bedroom of a condo. The bed took up the entire space and was 2ft from the wood burning fireplace (code violation). No closet, but a small cubby with TWO hangars. Broken blinds, broken sliding screen door. One of two windows could not open. Had to lug our luggage down a flight of stairs. No table or chair to sit at. You could order room service but you would have to eat in bed. Overall the smallest and most awful room ever and for nearly $400/night. They told me they knew it was not a good room but gave it to people “passing through”. How about not renting that tiny dumpy room at all??? The staff were very nice, food areas great. I did try some hiking but they had bulldozers building or fixing something in the area so all you heard was beep-beep crash. Won’t be back.
Great resort and friendly staff.
We absolutely LOVE Sundance! But the bed in our cabin was awful. We barely slept. Super disappointing on an otherwise amazing stay!
Everyone was so helpful, especially as I had to take my family home early because of an illness with my pup. The staff are very accommodating and the resort is beautiful. The only issue right now is construction. I’m sure once it’s complete. It will be very nice.
Beautiful scenery. Secluded and wild.
This was our first time staying at Sundance, and it won’t be our last. So beautiful and serene. We can’t wait to go back.
Paradise
Under major construction until Dec 2025. Would have been awesome to know that.
10 out of 10
We absolutely loved it for a beautiful relaxing low key time. Property is amazing! If you have issues with stairs, I would ask if you could have a room without many stairs.
Beautiful property!
Sundance Mountain Resort - A Special Place
This was our first stay at the Sundance Mountain Resort and we cannot wait to schedule our next trip. This is a very special place that celebrates the connection between nature, art, and community, and the resort clearly honors these values in every amenity and service offered. The resort is nestled at the base of Mount Timpanogos and includes its' own ski lift which we had hoped to ride on our second day, but unfortunately it was raining, so we ended up exploring other parts of the property. The resort accommodations include several cabins and mountain homes for guests as opposed to more traditional hotel arrangements that include one or two large buildings with individual rooms. The individual cabins provided a great deal of privacy; which we loved. We stayed in cabin 6 in the Mandan area next to the resort spa and our guest room was well-appointed with a fireplace, great-smelling lotions and soaps, and a small patio with two Adirondack chairs. From the patio, we could hear the flow of the river running through the property. Idyllic. Do note that the property is in the midst of a large construction project that, per hotel staff, will add at least 60 more rooms and is projected to be finished at the end of 2025. I don't believe the construction has impacted any of the services offered, but the construction fencing and large vehicles are a little unsightly. All throughout our stay, the staff demonstrated professionalism, kindness, and were service-oriented.
Sundance Mountain Resort was a very fantastic place to stay, relax and ski. We enjoyed the mountain, the spa and all the restaurants on the hill. The staff were lovely, kind and friendly. Our only complaint is we didn’t have a car, so when we needed some basic supplies, there was nothing available on the mountain itself and no way to get it up there. Otherwise we had an amazing time.
Unfortunately, this is not the Sundance Resort experience that it once was. Food was REALLY bad (literally uncooked and/or cold at the two restaurants we ate at), slow, and very poorly timed (I was done with my meal by the time my husband received his). The workers at the resort were completely uninterested (especially the front desk in their deli and the hostess at the Foundry). The driver that led us to our room on check in was the highlight. Would strongly suggest choosing another resort/place to spend a weekend. Like ol Butch and Sundance, the quality of this once spectacular resort seems to have been left in the annals of time. Huge disappointment.
Wonderful experience
Wish I could give 10 Stars. The place, the people, the amenities are 1st class! All I can say is WOW! Book it!!
All around excellent.
Very beautiful
Great place
The perfect getaway for our anniversary!!
Amazing stay! I can’t wait to return to that special place.
Incredible views and great customer service. Couldn’t recommend more!
The staff was excellent, helpful and very accommodating. Everything was perfect!
Stay at Sundance!
Booked the Sundance Resort for an overnight stay for two reasons. First, we were doing a road trip through Utah and a friend of ours from there said ‘Why aren’t you going to Sundance?’. Second it was a treat for my birthday. We had a great time on this amazing property. The room was amazing as was the staff. The little touches the property has put up for the holiday season made it pretty magical at night. We had a great dinner at The Foundry Grill. Definitely worth the stay.
I specifically asked for a nice room because it was our anniversary. The room was really nice but the coffee maker was hard to use and inconvenient. There was a very bright clock in the room that kept me up all night that you couldn’t turn off. The patio chairs on the patio were unsafe and falling apart.
Delightful getaway.
Beautiful, cozy cabin in the woods. Delightful fire places for ambiance and balcony as well as outdoor patio to enjoy the forest views and nearby stream. Paved walking paths through with many white Christmas lighted trees is magical. Fabulous onsite restaurant the Foundry.
Perfect get away!
Perfect get away with my wife! We stayed for two nights in our very large room, took the pottery class, and ate at the restaurants there by the room.
The customer care is above and beyond. Sundance has cars and drivers who shuttle you around. They were helpful and happy. I liked how the drivers even came into the restaurant to get us! The rooms are mountainous and rustic. Our room was freezing cold when we arrived. It took a while for it to get warm. The staff brought us plenty of firewood. The food at the Foundry Grill was good. The ambience is excellent! I wish there was artwork on the walls! It looked like they removed the paintings before our stay. Weird. I only wish our room had a microwave, mini fridge, and a larger TV.
The property and location- fabulous Excellent response to a room air issue Food was great in the Tree Room service from the main waitress was just ok the dining room support staff was lovely The service for breakfast was Terrible!!! It ended our visit on a very sad note and we loved the property, room & food
Paradise in the mountains
Amazing. Sundance resort is simply a tucked away piece of paradise. From serene to adventure seekers. This resort has it all. I went for the Sundance mountain theatre , which is always fantastic. Spent the day hiking, zipline, mountain biking, fly fishing. Then visit the unique art studio for hands on art classes (silver smith , painting, ceramics, candle making, jewellery, etc) or....just enjoy the quiet and solitude of the aea
Absolutely charming place. Our cottage room had tasteful decor , was clean and had everything we needed, had good coffee too. We got yummy cookies in room from staff for our anniversary celebration. We loved our stay. Definitely a special place.
AVOID! Charged three times for a prepaid room
Charged 3 times for the same room after having prepaid via Hotels.com. ALL 3 transactions at different amounts. Did not get the $1000 category room that was pre-paid. Got a basement window without a window. About 20 calls to resolve fraudulent transactions by local Utah talent. This is not owned or managed by Robert Redford any longer. To top it off I was woken up by security for a noise complaint after having slept for 2 hours. Was I breathing to hard when sleeping. A total bust and complete waste of time and money.
Absolutely beautiful! Something to do for everyone and for every season. The lodging was good. A little outdated is all. The worst part about the lodging was the guests staying above us. They were up until 3am and it sounded like they has a herd of elephants performing Zumba. They were rude when asked to be quiet. The food at the Foundry was phenomenal! And The Owl Bar after was.alot of fun with live entertainment.
We stayed for 6 nights in the Mountain side 1 bedroom suite with my husband and 2 kids. The surrounding area and tye nature is amazing. The rooms on the ither hand need an update. Housekeeping did not clean the room the entire time even though we called and requested it twice. I gave up and vacuumed myself. It was unexpected for a room we paid $700 per night. We ordered food a few time from room service and it was delivered in paper bags in 20F weather ice cold.
Very lovely resort Some new staff who were training
Special place, needs a little TLC
Sundance is a special place and we’ve stayed here multiple times over the last 25 years. The room has plenty of blankets which we appreciated and once we figured out the heating it was quite warm especially with the fireplace on, it was in the teens when we stayed there. We could hear the upstairs guests walking around till about 2am and there was a little leak from the ceiling in the morning, so it might just be showing it’s age a bit and maybe in need of a bit of TLC. Also no Wi-Fi passcodes anywhere to be found in the material they gave us so we needed to call for that and it was still quite spotty. Also please keep in mind that once you are in your room if you need medicine or just a soda or water you’ll need to get back in your car and go to the main guest check in area to find something to purchase, there are no options in the room so bringing everything you might possibly need is kinda important.
The resort is billed as a "Preferred Hotel" and recommended by Forbes and Conde Nast which is why I decided to stay there. Our room was small, poor layout and in need of a major face lift. Guests did not have preference over non-guests and had to stand in long lines for food or could not get your first choice in restaurants. The resorts mantra is relaxation and communing with nature. It was difficult to do so with the amount of people at weddings, conferences and the general public. The silversmithing and ceramic classes were great. It was a little irritating that the $150 per person class did not include the shipping of the item you made. We were ushered out of the $200 per person private silversmith class, that was supposed to be 2 hours, after 90 minutes. The leather chairs in the Owl Bar had holes in the seats and most ledges and decorative items etc. (throughout the resort) were in need of dusting. The Foundry Grille was advertised to be open till 11:00 am but closed at 10:00 am and we missed a sit down breakfast. We went to the deli and they were out of eggs and a few other items.
Restaurant food , & service was very good.
Tech issues with TV. Fireplace defective and some bugs in the room
An amazing property - just stunning! Most of the staff went above and beyond. The was however a mix up in our room - which caused a scene and us having to move rooms - which was not handled very well by one of the staff members. It was extremely hard to get anyone on the phone - and needed to call up to 15 times - to get information, reserve a table and get a ride to and from cabin.
Updates Needed!!
Check-in was ridiculous. I was told housekeeping was in the room & it would be ready in 35 mins. 11/2 hrs later, was told exactly the same. 1 hour later, I was told it would be 45 mins. Finally given keys, but was not told there was a Unit A & Unit B. Thankfully, Unit A had a Do Not Disturb sign out, otherwise, we would have been trying to get into an occupied room. The rooms are tired & dated. Need a complete refurbishment to be luxury resort , which Sundance once was, & continues to charge for. The staff & service in Deli, Owl Bar & Tree Room Restaurant were friendly, courteous & professional. Dinner was exceptional.
While this property has been here a while and it is quite rustic, the surrounding nature is awesome. Come is rest and unwind or use the outdoors if you are an out doors adventure seeker. Lots to do outdoors or nearby communities.
Enjoyed our stay
The food at the Foundry Grill was outstanding and ate there twice. The room was very small and without a mini fridge, microwave or table, so eating anything in our room wasn't possible. The grounds were beautiful and there was plenty to do. We took the ski lift to the top of the mountain and the view was spectacular. We enjoyed everything except the room but we spent very little time there. This is a very special place.
It was our 28th anniversary and a tradition for the last three years and we will continue. What a beautiful place and a wonderful adventure to experience.
I loved staying at Sundance, the room was cozy like I hoped it would be. But for the amount of money it costs I was surprised to have window blinds that didn't work well and a screen door that took a lot of work to get open and closed. Also our refrigerator wasn't working but they didn't replace it until we had checked in so had to wait longer than our 4pm check in to get settled. The room and resort were very clean.
The spectacular beauty coupled with excellent service and amenities makes this resort the best I have experienced.
Perfect as always
Setting was beautiful, the food was excellent, every staff member seemed very happy to be there. Took the lifts to the top of Timp and had a scenic lunch at Bear Claw Cabin. Hiked the trails around the resort and saw many types of wildflowers and a waterfall. Lots of thoughtful details, that added up to a wonderful stay.
Sundance was a much more intimate property than I expected. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. There were tables, chairs and benches around the property where you could just relax and enjoy the spectacular views. The rooms are classy and comfortable. Our only complaint is that reservations are required for all the restaurants and less pricey fare like pizzas are no longer available anywhere on the property.
The hot tub was dirty and there was not a net to clean it.
We had such a nice relaxed time in the off season. Dinner at Tree Room was one of the best meals and experiences ever!
Everything you would want in a getaway. The friendliness of the staff and amazing views were cozy and comforting.
The location of Sundance Resort is unique. It offers its guests amazing skiing possibilities, coupled with excellent dining, wellness and crafty experiences.
We thoroughly enjoyed our quaint cabin in the woods. Highly recommend for honeymoon and anniversaries.
Five stars! Amazing Resort!
This place is phenomenal!! Will be back again!!!
It was unique as a hotel, rooms, setting, restaurant, everything.
Perfectly lovely place
View gorgeous!! Room beautiful! Awesome service! Need a touch up on walls there is a lot of dust in the corners of the bedroom.. could use a bit a deeper clean of rooms.
Cozy, friendly
Wonderful Mountain View’s & the Owl Bar is a special place!
Such a beautiful property. We've stayed several times over the years. It's never been given a facelift and it's beginning to show its wear and tear. Some of thee staff reflect this creeping shabbiness (bored teenagers running the coffee bar in the morning couldn't have been less friendly). The beds are getting a bit tired and honestly, they should upgrade their bed linens and get rid of those cheap, foam-ball pillows. The property deserves better than that.
Wonderful place
What an amazing place... so sorry Robert Redford sold it, but our room could have used a little face lift. The grounds are very special, just a lovely feeling there. The owl bar is historic and wonderful, the Foundry Grill was excellent-especially the "cacio pepe"!!!!! We loved our little one night stay!
Located in a beautiful setting with great hiking. Excellent meal at Foundry Grill. Dated resort, concierge not helpful.
It was absolutely gorgeous this time of year. I am hoping the new ownership will update the cabins w modern amenities. Albeit, they were still charming. Get reservations to the resort restaurants before you go or you’ll be SOL.
Beautiful place
Beautiful place great food and service at Owl bar. Rooms could use a bit of updating but overall it is a wonderful place to visit. Will definitely be back.
Beautiful property. Our room was very spacious snd nice. Comfortable bed and the deck was great. Our dinner at the Foundry Grill was delicious and all of our contacts with the service staff were awesome, from the bartender, JJ, the car driver, Brennon and our server at the Grill. Competent and kind. Hopefully we can come back for a longer stay next visit
It was fantastic just didn’t expect that many stairs to get into the unit.
What a beautiful place to be. The pictures don’t do it justice.
Needs a complete refresh
Worn out, dirty . .
Birthday getaway in the mountains.
We had a wonderful weekend. The cottages are quaint yet comfortable. They could use an easier way to get ice (had to order it from housekeeping and it took 30 minutes or so for delivery) and they had no ice buckets in the room. We will definitely be back and recommend it to all who want to hike and enjoy the great outdoors! The Owl Bar is the best.
July in Utah
Fantastic. No AC in our unit. Warm outside. However the shade and the provided fan made is comfortable. We really enjoyed Sundance
Incredible place. The ski lift is awesome. My room was fantastic
We were delighted by our brief stay at Sundance. Our Mandan cabin overlooked a forest and a stream and we spent time relaxing on our perfect little balcony. Would definitely like to return. The walk from our room to the restaurants was pleasant for us but could be strenuous for some, but there is a shuttle if required.
The property was absolutely beautiful. Everyone was friendly and helpful during our stay. We would definitely return with our family.
Open spaces, fresh air and wonderful experience
Liked the cabin, but it was very small, stains on carpet, cockroach in bathroom, no fridge and it was hot, nobody told us had to request in advance for maid service, and nobody explained the outrageous resort bill I just received for $515.52. This is after paying Expedia their charges for $745.76. Not good at all. Expedia should have noted the additional cost on their ad for the location. M
The vibe is upscale relaxing and fun. Food at the Foundry A , The Owl Bar a delight (sit outside), the constant sound of rushing water lovely, the spa massage excellent, the summer chair lift provided great views and the horseback riding was the best trail ride I've ever been on. Weeklong Utah trip highlight.
Beautiful location. Great thought was put into designing this property so that it blended in with the beautiful landscape.
Lovely property, great drinks at Owl bar, and AMAZING dinner at Tree Room.
Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff.
Loved the ride on the ski lift!
Awesome resort all things outdoor right there. Amazing views and great
The setting is great. The staff was great. The theme is rustic which we liked. The grounds and buildings were in need of attention. Things like pillows on safa with binding nearly off, board on deck sticking up in the air. Requested king size bed and got queen which was located up a narrow staircase. Many steps to climb to cabin. Not represented in materials.
This is a great place to stay.
Absolutely love Sundance. This is THE place to stay in Utah.
Sundance is really nice. I had no idea what to expect and didn’t really know anything about the property when I chose it other than the word Resort was in the name. My one gripe is that they provided me a room with a jacuzzi but the jacuzzi was broken. They did attempt to fix it and I appreciate that tremendously but to no avail. They provide a shuttle service around the park which I took advantage of. The staff is friendly and attentive and I was really impressed by all the very cool goodies they have like house soaps and lotions and such. This is my first vacation to a resort and I found it to be awesome. I would recommend others to try Sundance. I didn’t do any winter sports but I saw they have a ski lift and so I bet that would be fun to try.
Sundance steals the show
We celebrated two awesome birthdays, skied several days and of all of the ski resorts I have ever shared my earning with, Sundance is the epitome of greatness overall. There is not anything you will want to do in a mountain setting with sweet skiing at that can be or is better than at Sundance. Beautiful & KInd...
Sundance Mountain Resort is amazing
This resort is amazing, you will not be disappointed with the resort, restaurant, outdoor things to do and scenery.
Suites advertised as king/queen, but are only full
An amazing property overall, but considering the premium we paid, and being promised either a king or queen size bed, finding that the room actually had a full-size mattress was a disappointment. My partner and I need at least a queen to get good rest, and we did not sleep well as a result of having a smaller bed.

What a special place from A to Z. Thank you.
