There is nothing around the area. Bring your own food, blankets (they rent them) anything you can think of using for being comfortable. I loved it. This place is designed to live like in the woods with a bit of comfort, but you make the comfort. Amazing place by the river, with excellent Northern Lights view, full moon view and amazing mountains around. Totally recommend for anyone looking to experience camping with comfort. They have shared showers and the cleanliness was above expectations for a place like this. Amazing for kids, family, pets. I totally recommend this experience and this place. They were very informative the whole time. There is a bbq for each tent and heater is also provided. But as I said, if you like comfort, do a bit more of research and bring your own. Even a sleeping bag if needed. We went in september and it was already getting cold so plan in advance.
Reserved 2 sites under same name. And were given 2 sites that were as far apart as they could be totally unacceptable
We had a wonderful stay!!
Thank you to Friendly and understanding staff who assisted me when checked in. The place is nice and washroom has hot and cold shower at no additional fees. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends and families.
Nice quite place in the woods.
Nice stay. Lots of spiders. Road in/out had a lot of holes and was rough to drive on.
We had an amazing camping trip here for our anniversary! Loved having our morning coffee by the river.
A beautiful setting. The trapper's cabin tent was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The sites are lovely. Just two problems: The roads are atrocious. Giant potholes you can fall into in the dark. Second problem: on two occasions in two days no toilet paper in the ladies toilets. Other than that , wonderful.
Their glamping tents are well kept and has all the amenities you would need for camping in the mountains. Their location is perfect and their communication with campers regarding property info rules and regulations are organized.
It was a great cared for and beautiful place to stay.
Friendly staff and amazing manager Abbey 😊 Clean everywhere…shower house, outhouse, garbages. Glamping tents/sites are beautiful. One drawback was having one wash house, but plans are in the works to add more facilities in the near future 👌 Overall, stay was excellent and we’d highly recommend Sundance by Basecamp to anyone wanting to to experience camping in a unique way 😊. 9.5/10
Very good
Such a unique stay, we had a great time!
Thank you for the great stay
Trappers Tent by the river was fun to stay in. Great views from the chairs along the river. Would definitely stay again.
We stayed in a clamping tent September 16-20 for our 26th wedding anniversary. We had a great time! Very comfy bed, soft linens/ comforter. The little kerosene heater was just right. The staff were wonderful and even helped us out with propane when we unexpectedly ran out. Showers were hot and excellent pressure. My only complaint would be the many potholes on the roads through the campground. Other than that, 10/10 would stay here again!
It’s really a nice place to have vacation staff is friendly.
This was an awesome camp site for a relaxing glamp experience!
Very cool camping tent Sadly no forest cryptids or serial killers
Amazing campsite; staff were helpful and kind, and the shower/bathroom facilities were clean and well managed.
Staff are friendly and accomodating- offers very good information. Had friends visited from the US and UK and they enjoyed the Canadian Experience!
Very nice experience, but pricy
I like the atmosphere around there. Staffs are friendly and everything is clean. Only problem I found that the heater is not sufficient enough to heat the space we have. So, you feel cold in the night time.
Our stay was great. We just wish we knew there was no power at the glamping site before hand.
Great bed. Great glamping. Website could have information about showers (times etc) and just better description of the tents to clarify some things and the road around is very very bumpy and hard go navigate in the dark. But overall it was a great stay!
8/10 recommend.
Beautiful riverside sitting spots
Negative energy from male staff that yelled at us in the bathroom, when we weren't done getting ready. also i didnt know that check out was at 11:00am, again he was very rude and did not even greet me with a smile or kindness.
The property was gorgeous. We stayed in a family Tipi. There was plenty of room and the kerosene heater kept it very comfortable at night. The bathroom has plenty of hot water and AMAZING water pressure. The property was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and well maintained. We will absolutely return.
Friendly staff. Clean and a new experience for our family. I will surely recommend.
Campground conditions: bare minimum. Small number of showers and toilets. Great staff.
Great first time experience in a trapper tent. Heater was a bonus as mornings were chilly with the sun behind the mountain. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Glamping tent was clean, bed very comfortable, and in a beautiful setting. Washroom facilities good.
Lovely stay
Great place to stay next to a beautiful view of the Mountains and river. The cots are pretty comfortable and the heater is a very nice touch.
Great place
I like the location, near the river, kids had so much fun. Camping without bugs/ spiders are hard stuff, kids get scared of them. But so far this place is convenient for us.
I loved how easy check in and check out were and that I could do them easily by phone. The campsite was quiet even though it was fairly visit. The areas around our site were beautiful. Would definitely recommend to others.
Even though people keep on talking and being loud, nobody will take care of it
We stayed in a family Tipi. It was awesome. Campsites are quite big. Super clean area. Close to the river which has lots of nice seats to just chill there. WE were hiking Mist mountain so this was a perfect location to stay at. Lots of great hikes close by. Troll falls which is a great family hike is close by. Kananaskis village is very close by too within 7 minutes drive. I highly recommend staying here. We went and checked out the Trappers tents too. All are very cool
Best camping experience in a while.
We had a horrible experience at Sundance. We pre registered with the link provided but when we arrived we found the on site reception closed two hours earlier than was posted online. The phone number they had provided for 24 hour reception went to voicemail and we had no way to complete our check in. The level of organization and customer service is sorely lacking.
An easy location for family camping. Traffic can be a bit loud. Prices are quite high for what it is full glamping sites are compare to the same price spent for 2 nights here. That being said The sites are quite private. Lots of great places to explore nearby. They could definitely benefit from more showers with that amount of families staying there.(The lines are very long.)The staff were friendly and my kids enjoyed the store shopping for treasures.
Friendly staff, facility was very well kept. For a glamping facility it was very well maintained.
The tent was a fair size and liked that it had a solid door. The site was well treed and aside from a lot of road noise, the area was relatively quiet. The bathrooms were far which was a bit of an inconvenience especially late at night. The main washrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. We usually stay at Pomeroy in Kananskis and were able to quickly hop over for supper and enjoy their property and amenities. It is a quick drive to Canmore and we were able to get out to the Nordic Center and SUP the lake.
I don’t want to talk bad about the incredible property or the amazing staff running it. However, I feel it was misrepresented and we were kinda disappointed. Positive review for the campground, negative review for how it was advertised. Would still recommend.
Staying at Kananaskis
It was good place to short stay. They need some overnight silent rules to be implemented. While staff is riding their quads, they should make sure that they are not blowing dust in the air that cause uncomfort to tge guests.
Amazing little getaway in the woods in kananaskis!!
Things are nice but this property is quite expensive for what you get. There aren't enough washroom facilities and most things are quite over priced.
Beautiful setting and well maintained accommodations
Bathrooms were a little messy but the area was quite and beautiful to walk around
Very private and clean
Serene and comfortable.
Was a great experience!
Beautiful area
Super clean. Been on the road travelling for 2 weeks staying at a variety of hotels and this was the best and most comfortable bed I have slept in. Glamping was awesome!!!
We loved our stay here!! Such a beautiful place and a really unique experience. We’ll definitely be back :)
The tent has bare bunks with no bedding at all, nothing like the bed in the picture. The circular drive around the camp site is full of potholes that makes the short drive from the Trading Post to our tent bone jarring. Lastly this property is listed in the hotels/lodge category in Expedia’s search engine. I thought I was booking a lodge with a decent bed, but the booking turned out to be just a tent with just bare bunks and no electricity/or running water.
Easy parking and safe.
Amazing experience! Perfect for those who wanted to try camping but do not have the equipment.
Amazing trapper and glamping tents on large lots and quiet property.
We rented 2 trapper tents for our family trip, and they were so comfortable. Nice and warm, great set up. The campsite has gorgeous views of the mountains right along the river. Having hot showers was such a bonus. Will definitely be back.
This was a lovely experience. The "glamping" cabin was lovely. The staff were very helpful with explaining how to start a fire. There was a path to a beautiful river with multiple adirondack chairs on which to sit & relax. And... my Verizon had service!
A little more camping than glamping
It was a little more camping than I expected, but the glamping tent was very cute and comfortable. Just be prepared to camp when you stay! No WiFi, tv or anything of the like. Gorgeous views and would like to come back for a longer stay. The 4 hour arrival window was a little restrictive, but we made it work.
The glamping tent was fun and the bed was comfortable. Enjoyed having a fire with the cute red chairs. The tent was definitely not seam sealed and saw many bugs inside. There didn’t seem to be a proper amount of bathrooms stalls for the size of the campground and the bathroom was constantly wet and very humid. There was a line for the bathroom most of the time. Pretty setting though, enjoyed it overall.
No early check ins
A few days before arrival the company sends out a email for you to check in with your vehicle info etc. It states if you are going to arrive before 4pm (check in time) to come to the trading post to let them know you're there. Well we got there at 3:30 so we went to the trading post to find out which glamper spot we have. The Australian lady refused to let us check in 30 minutes early because she told others not before 4. Why state to go see them if you're checking in early when they won't let you? So we had to waste 30 minutes. Then at 4 there was a huge line of people trying to check in so there goes an hour of our day just trying to find out our spot to unload so we could go see some sites. Besides this negative the glamper was nice. The bed was super comfy. They provide a lamp and kerosene heater, towels and bed linen for the price but lumber is $21 for a wagon full. No electricity at the sites which was expected we brought solar panels and car batteries to keep things charged. The bathrooms though should be cleaned more often. The floors always wet and muddy and it's so humid that water drips from the ceiling when you're on the toilet. All in all it was a decent stay with a bad start to it because the email contradicts their apparent rules of no early check ins so glad we didn't get there earlier.
I booked this property because it said free wifi there is no wifi total waste of money
Amazing place to stay, friendly staff too.
Pricey for what you get
We stayed in one of the teepees, had to bring our own bedding and basically everything else which was no issue. Given the price per night they should include unlimited firewood. The sites are nice and well spaced, it was quiet and relaxing which we appreciated.
Excellent experience had an amazing time!
Great camping although the tipis aren’t water proof. Got a bit wet while raining.
Had a great time during our stay with our 10month old and pet dog!
It’s safe and quiet. Good for unwinding
The only reason we did not give a 5 star was weather related. We are from Texas, checking in on a wet and freezing night, so the room was not warm enough for us. The setting is gorgeous on the following morning after the sun came out. It was a great camping experience, revisiting our youth outing with communal bathroom “miles” away in a cold night. But we were pampered by the ready made bedding etc. By the way, no electrical outlets in the tent, daaa! No microwave, no charging, no warm food in the tent , hahaha, long forgotten camp life!
Excellent experience

Love this place. One of the nicest camping experiences we have had.
