We only stayed 1 night, so didn't really get a chance to use the facilities, the hotel is good value for the price, the rooms were nicely decorated, spacious and clean, with a large comfy bed and good aircon. The reception staff were very friendly and check in and out was a breeze.The other big plus is that the hotel offers free water stations on every level. Sadly the facilities, especially the pool are looking rather dated. The biggest negative for us was the buffet breakfast, we have stayed here before and remember a very good selection and great quality, unfortunately that wasn't the case this time, there were plenty of options, mainly Asian orientated, no egg station and the quality of the food was very poor, tables werent being cleared or cleaned and food kept running out on the buffet. No one checked our room number, so anyone could just walk in off the street and help themselves, the restaurant staff were disinterested as if they didn't really want to be there, no friendly smiles or warm greeting.

There was leak in our bathroom annd the wifi kept disconnecting. But the managers were polite and took care of it for us. However the area was really loud and party buses and people parting around which ultimately leave the hotel.

The only downside of this hotel is that the pool area is too shaded, you only get sun from 11-1pm to sunbath in

Horrible. The room was ok BUT OMG the photos on the internet are not what is there . Pool area dirty , old , wood is rotten, no pool bar, lose tiles in the pool , pool not lit like is shows I. Photos. The website photos must be over 10 years old and that’s being kind. The room cleaners hit and miss , tolitrolls and soap was on a rashon . Most days no hand towel. very poor standards. Needs a lot of money spending on it . not impressed . Would not ever recommend this hotel. A poor hotel lucky to be a 2 star , no idea where 4 star came from . very disappointing .

Stayed in Room 311. Shower head didn’t work properly needs replacing. Changed rooms 2nd night as aircon not working. Was moved to ground floor, noisy room near pool. Bed comfortable and room spacious. Water coolers on every floor a great idea.

Friendly people, but had some issue with management communication to staff. I had booked airport pick up and was confirmed my management, but staff were not told and no one turned to pick me up from the airport. Hotel is big in a great location, but could do with some maintenance. Lighting in room is very dark and air conditioner need a clean, they were very mouldy and smelly. For the price and location it was a reasonable stay.

Breakfast was very basic, and it was cold quite often.

We had a lovely stay at Sun Island in Kuta. It was central to all our favourite places. The staff were very helpful. Would highly recommend.

Hotel itself was ok, not as nice as the pictures make out, needs a bit of TLC. Resort is noisy, streets and beach are dirty. Pestered every 2 steps they do not take NO for an answer, they are obviously struggling to recover after Covid. Led to believe Bali is hit and miss, some places are outstanding others are like this one

Hotel is old and run down and in need of some TLC. Great position though. Staff were helpful. Understand still coming back from Covid but reception didn't know what 24-hour room service were doing. Horrible WIFI

This property has really deteriorated over the years I have been staying. The condition of the property is disgusting and it should not be open for tourism until they fix it. Not acceptable. The staff need proper training and kitchen and dining options is non existent even though we get charged for a room with breakfast.

Staff were good very frendly,the onlything to let down the hotel wasthecleaner who did not clean the room for 3days. We went for breakfast at 9 am and put the clean my roomsign on the door. I like the location easy access to everything you need very close to the airport also. I didn't like when staff not honest for example I had a spa treatments which suppose to be 4 hours treatment but the girl rush it up and only provided me with 2.5 to 3 hours treatment which was very disappointing. Another example is that the front reception pushing you to use hotel transport but charges you triple amount of a taxi fare to the airport just because you are a foreigner they think you are a rich man. So honesty is first and should be prioritised at this hotel. The pictures not matching the hotel 100% which was disappointing too.

Its clean and convenient location. Not sure why the design not having the elevator on the same floor, have to take the stair to get to the elevator?

This property has an amazing location but the property itself is far from a 4 star resort. I would say it is more like a 2 star. My bed had stains and the towels were grey not to mention the room had roaches . Just not a very clean resort . Will never return

Staff were lovely, and the bar and restaurant good.

Great central location, excellent staff especially Angga who went out of his way to help us. One of only hotels where the managers ask for feedback and ways for improvement. We recently will be back with the level of service.

Good hotel in a central location

The hotel was very good, pool was nice. The only downer was the breakfast which could have been better

Overall the the experience at Sun Island was outstanding 9/10. From the very easy going staff members (front desk, cleaners, security staff and restaurant staff) Nothing was a problem I highly recommended this hotel as part of a holiday stay. We were even upgraded to a family suite with no extra cost to us bravo bravo excellent staff and amenities highly recommended by an easy going Aussie.

Great hotel. There is room for improvement on the upkeep of the facilities such as the showers needs curtains or door, drainage in the tub is very poor, need drawers for clothes. Overall I did enjoy my stay and would stay here again.

Excellent rooms we have stayed in the deluxe, pool across room and honeymoon suite (family suite) couldn’t fault the hotel at all. We always stay at this hotel when we go to Bali

This property is rated good but its poorly maintained with cockroaches in room. Very limited breakfast option. In Kuta, we have much better properties to stay.

Nice hotel but really noisy during the night

The service, the room and the hotel was nice but the noise from the street during the night was really bad. So loud we thought the balcony door was open (it wasn't)

Sun Island Kuta

Stay at Sun Island was good. The only downside is the Deluxe Room has very low light and very difficult to even reading or do work on laptop. I wish to have more brighter light. Overall is very good place to stay.

Staff are very friendly & eager to assist. Bedding & Room very comfortable. Location is central to airport, shopping, massage salons. Short walk to the beach & Waterbom Park, art markets & shopping malls. Many great restaurants close by.

Great hotel with wonderful, cheerful and very helpful staff

It wasn't as good as described, only one swimming pool, clean but damaged tiles ,too much chlorine irritating eyes,no bar next to it or any stuff attending towel area. Room towels are pretty old and when replaced,clean but with a kitchen smell. Place buy itself is pretty noisy and next to the main road so the noise from a swimming pool, main road,breakfast area,and big families with a kids started from early mornings.

Only thing preventing this hotel to be a top class hotel is that the upkeep and maintenance of the hotel itself and facilities need better attention.

Great location - tucked away on the main street

We had adjoining rooms on level 1 overlooking the beautiful pool area. The resort was lovely overall. Breakfast was enjoyable although cold by the time you were to eat. The staff don't compare to somewhere like the Febris though - front of house staff were pretty good, brekkie staff quite limited in their English, experience and their service efforts. The showers in both rooms were great but the shower screen was so short that if you showered normally you drenched the entire bath area. Location was great - close to Discovery, the beach, bars, restaurants.

Old & looking run down

I stayed here 3 years ago & in this time hotel has gone down. Pool bar is no longer open & we had to search for staff when we wanted a drink whilst sitting at pool. Breakfast is awful. Other than eggs there is no hot western food. The local food they had was cold. Cereals were catered for kids. How about muesli or Bircher, I’m past coco pops at my age!! The first morning we didn’t even get served coffee we had to help ourselves, which I don’t have a problem with but they walk around with coffee pots serving tables. Staff at reception & housekeeping were lovely, welcoming & friendly. I won’t be staying again which is a shame as great location.

We had a pool access room which was nice however the bathroom needed some work as the shower screen didnt stop any water going out of the shower and the room needs some sound proofing as you can hear everything thats happening outside the hotel all night long.

Awesome trip

Hotel was excellent, the hotel staff very friendly and polite. One thing we did not like was the fact that all their bedding were smelly from the humidity but that what Bali is about, humidity and hot .

Very average hoel

All good except breakfast is bad. cold coffee and tea, need to ask for cutlery and salt and pepper all time. Rarely get Bacon. Staff are very helpful but need to ask them. Room service not great. They miss to top up the coffee sachets and always they keep one hand towel not 2 do not know why? you have to ask them every time to put 2

Family getaway

Enjoyed it thoroughly. Travelled with a group including a one year old as a surprise and all the room were close together. Pool access room was fabulous and will be even better when the maintenance is complete and the noise abates. Day spa is lovely and clean and really cheap. Staff very friendly and car with driver hire really cheap too. Only issue was the shower was over the bath and hard to get in and out of for one of our group but staff happily moved her to another room with a walk in shower

One of the most pleasant hotel around the area

Pleasant hotel compound and rooms. Greeted with welcome drinks and assisted with hassle free check in and out. Friendly hotel staff who assisted me in extending my stay there for an additional 1 night, patiently helped me to print out my airline itinerary for my return flight. Stayed in pool access room and the Room are clean, comfy and spacious. Worth it.

Nice hotel breakfast was the same each day. Smokers annoying near dining area. Pool clean. Pool access rooms very convenient. Staff are wonderful and helpful. Our room didn't seem to be cleaned until we left the hotel. The bathroom flooded as the shower screen was not covering further enough. Good location for dining, Waterbom, Lippo Mall and beach.

Disappointed

Bathroom leaked when showering..air conditioning leaking on floor. Only supplied 2 umbrellas to pool area. Breakfast disappointing.. would not recommend to friends.

Lovely hotel with great staff and perfect location

The hotel is in the perfect location, very central in Kuta. The room was nice and as expected and the staff were so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The only thing I would say is that there is no pool bar actually in the pool, there is one to the side of the pool but it wasn't open at all during our stay. Maybe because we went when the volcano was erupting and Bali itself (and the hotel) was very quiet so there were never more than 3 families in the pool at once and most times the pool was empty (it probably wasn't worth having the bar open). However I am young so thats something i would have valued but not a huge issue at all, you were still able to order food and drinks around the pool it just wasn't a vibrant pool setting like id hoped. All in all, id definitely recommend Sun Island to friends and family and i myself would stay here again.

Room it’s good, only the shower or wrong. Every time we have showers all the water fill the bathroom should put the shower cartain. The breakfast was very bad.

It was amazing.... I've been telling my friends about the hotel and the staffs are friendly and the breakfast was great.... if I ever go back to Bali I'd like to go back and stay there again.....

Get what you paid for

Very average hotel, nothing that fantastic about it. Staff were friendly, rooms were not overly clean, the aircon vent was very dirty and corners of the bathroom were dirty. Do not bother upgrading to a pool access room, the bath shower was horrible. Was very close to Discovery and Waterbom Park. Stay if you are just looking for a cheap place close to Kuta

Disappointing Stay- Loud with Tour groups

I just spent 2 weeks at the Sun Islander during this time the resort had lots of tour group which made breakfast near impossible to get a table. The food was usually cold, omelettes pre made. The pool only had sun for middle of the day so in the afternoon when wanting to relax by pool not inviting. The room size was good but need a good clean. Was unable to sleep in past 8am due to noise from pool so not a hotel for relaxing I stayed at about 15 other hotels and resort in Bali being more expensive and budget but would not return to this hotel due as not relaxing or inviting to stay around during the day.

Nice Hotel close to beach and shopping

Whilst the rooms were clean and staff pleasing it was very noisy . I am young and understand that people love to swim including myself, but this was through out the night.

Amazing stay at the hotel. Service was excellent the room is spacious with nice balcony where u can relax and view the city area.

Lovely hotel, great location and walking distance of everything with many restaurants, bars and the shopping centre which access the beach is only a few minutes walk. The staff were more than welcoming and this made my stay all the more enjoyable. Buffet breakfast was ok, possibly catering for the customer base at the time. I did eat lunch at the hotel also which was very good. Overall would definitely recommend, all positive

Sun Island Hotel Kuta Review

Good location, friendly staff but towels frayed and need replacing. Breakfast was not good, too much asian options and the western food was not good. King bed comfortable. The expectation of a 4 star hotel was disappointing hence in a nutshell this hotel should be rated as 3 star and not 4 star.

Walk through the bathroom to get to the bedroom, no privacy if you need to go to the bathroom. The facilities at the resort were great and the staff were friendly.

The hotel room was spacious and well appointed. It was clean and located in a great position. Staff were helpful and friendly, breakfast was nice, mostly Indonesian food which we love.

Was ok.....

We enjoyed the stay although the pool was too shallow and always shaded due to the surounding buildings , main reason I will not return. The room and bed was comfortable yet the wooden door to the balcony made the room dark and less open, reduced view from room. Room towels were not white and had stains, hand towels on the first days were never replaced for the remainder of the 3 days even when asked. The shower when in use flooded the bathroom as the water simply sprayed everywhere but in the bath. The chairs in the dinning area where too low for the tables, was strange. All staff were nice.

Had a lovely stay at Sun Island Resort. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. Pool access room was awesome. Close to Discovery Shopping Mall and Waterbomb Park. (2-3 Min Walk) Lots of food options around.

Nice comfortable hotel near enough to everything

The hotel is about a 15min walk from the beach. It's also close enough to the airport. The breakfast buffet is ok and you can always walk around outside to find other options to eat. I went during a time where it wasnt crowded so i was lucky enough to have the pool to myself. The staff are nice & helpful too.

Nice hotel near waterpark, beach and shopping

Hotel was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and checked us in with no issue. Its very near many attractions like Waterbom Bali, Discovery mall, Lippo mall, Kuta beach. Everything is walking distance and very convenient.

Pleasant hotel in Kuta. Would book again

Quite a pleasant stay at the sun Island hotel. Hotel staff were always very courteous & were always happy to help you. The room was comfortable & clean & fresh. The room we had was away from the noise which was good. The swimming pool was clean & inviting. Breakfast was ok but i thought they could have done a little better with their selection of foods. The restaurant was average & we opted to eat out at other venues. All in all i would book this hotel again as it had good proximety to the town & also the airport 5 mins away.

Right spot for Kuta hastle

The location was great to stay in Kuta. I didn't like the breakfast buffe as it didnt match with 4 start hotel. The hotel staff were absolutely friendly. I found some ants in my room too!

Good location near shopping and beach

Great hotel marred by not so great service.

Not the best service. Specifically placed the change sheets card on the bed but sheets were not changed for 3 nights. Water pressure for shower was also weak.

When you are in bali, you can get whatever you want in whatever rates you want. Applies to sun island kuta. Such a beautiful property in the center of most happening area of bali at such rates. Loved it!
