The staff were great and helpful. Disappointed there was not a true refrig/freezer or stovetop. A portable stovetop was loaned. Bed was comfortable and nice TV.

I no longer drive and this place is on a bus route of the best metro bus system in the world, bar none, with the stop to the CBD 10 steps from the lodge. (Sidebar: Christchurch's metro system is incredible, high frequency, inexpensive - $4 a day - and a tourist's dream, very tolerant of errors of navigation). The Executive Studio at the Lodge was spacious and well furnished, and above all quiet. The kitchenette was very useful, allowing for takeaways, and the bathroom was larger than my own back home. About all I can say is: I'll be back, and request the same room!

About 10 min walk to nearest mall. 15 min drive to ChristChurch Airport

we loved our unit, just a wee note...could do with a hook or two in bathroom to have clothes for shower, we had to put ours on the floor, but otherwise i totally reccomend this motel to all, will be back someday!, thankyou for a lovely stay.

This was a perfect place to start our time in NZ & manage jet lag before we started travelling. We had a very comfortable sleep & the kitchen area had everything we needed. We loved the little veranda to sit & eat our breakfast & enjoy our morning coffee. There was some road noise at night time but nothing that stopped us sleeping. We highly recommend

The room was spacious and well laid out. Great addition of Nespresso coffee machine and variety of coffee,tea,etc. Comfortable King bed. Very friendly staff. Minor issue with shower running cold after a few minutes (suspect minor problem with gas pilot light). Overall, the best accomodation of the five places stayed.

Close to Christchurch city centre. Rooms are well stocked and comfortable.

Ok stay. Good bed. Fantastic spa bath. Complex and rooms a little tired. Parking a bit difficult if staying in rooms around back.No servicing of rooms, changing towels etc. Just ok

Arrived at the hotel with a problem with our booking. We were offered another room and a discount on it due to the inconvenience which was gladly accepted. We went away for a while whilst they prepared the room and then upon arriving back, found that we had been upgraded to a much larger room which was lovely. Highly recommend Strathern Motor Lodge, especially for cleanliness and service😀

Very accomodating when we asked for an early check-in due to having a tired toddler. Room was very clean and had everything we needed including a nespresso machine. Decor was a little dated but functional. Dinig table and coffee table not child friendly and in need of repair. Locatin was great for Merivale and town. Only downside was the bed was very soft making sleep tricky. Would stay again though.

We found the Strathern a very comfortable motel for our two nights stay. Walking distance to St. Georges hospital for appointments, Merivale shopping centre and cafes for food and drink. The room was set back from the busy road, lovely and quiet with a super comfortable bed. We would stay again.

The property needs up dating and there were no Smoke Detectors

Handy to down town

It was nice and adequate, quite comfortable and clean but our room not quite as good as what was shown in the photo. Decor was a bit dated and a little bit cramped. The TV had to be watched from the Bed even though there was a nice comfy sofa I guess the room wasn't big enough for a different layout.

The unit I had was quiet, set back from Papanui Rd

Excellent and extremely clean. Felt very safe and comforable. Bed was amazing. I would suggest clwan towel for next day. I should have asked but arrived back late night before and had work early the next day.

Nice clean unit, close to a busy intersection but heard very little road noise. Comfortable big bed, awesome water pressure in the shower, nice little touches like milk on arrival and coffee machine and pods in the room. Enjoyed my stay and will book again.

Great location. Rooms are a little outdated, some repairs required but very clean. The room was not suited to a family of 5. It slept 5 but two of these beds were pullout beds in the lounge, very hard and uncomfortable. Also in the lounge there was only 1 double sofa and a chair. Having two double couches would have ensured everyone was seated comfortably. Coffee table was very large and tabletop a big heavy piece of glass which wasn’t young children friendly. Would return but only if there were 2-3 of us. Price was reasonable

A great place to stay in central Christchurch. We had a very nice room, which was warm and spotlessly clean. We will def stay again on our next trip. It turned out to be my wife's aunts fave place to stay too - but we didn't know that until afterwards.

Good location. Not good value for money compared to other places we had stayed at for the same money. The bed was uncomfortable and the TV in the bedroom didn't work. When I informed them about this they said that it was an issue with Sky and they wouldn't be fixing it.

I will be staying again next week.

We love staying at Strathern Lodge. It is very central to all needs. Lovely managers. Bed in room 8 was not comfortable, compared to the other room we stayed in up the stairs far left. However I have a bad spine so could be just me.

Exceeded Expectations

As an American used to roadside hotels being somewhat lacking, this lovely lodge blew me away. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Everything was in great condition, and stylish as well. Limited interaction with the staff, but they were friendly and helpful when we spoke. Location is a little outside central Christchurch, but it's still only a 10 minute walk to a decent bar area. Would definitely stay again

Good value for a couple of nights.

The motel is very close to the centre of CHC and Hagley Park. The room was away from the street and very quiet. Had a shower over spa in the bathroom. Shower pressure was excellent and I liked the spa bath. The room is functional but the furniture is a bit dated and the room could do with an update. The bed is only ok and appears to be quite old - not sure why moteliers don't upgrade them more often as a good sleep is what you are after. Wifi was excellent and good selection of tv channels. Parkingbspace outside room but access a bit tight. Overall it was good value for the price of the room.

Strathern Motor Lodge - a great place to stay

Everything about Strathern Motel Lodge makes it a place I would be more than happy to go back to, and to recommend to everyone who wants great accommodation in Christchurch. Very clean, very welcoming, with fantastic staff. The area was very close to good shopping and since the weather was fantastic, it was an easy walk away. Great restaurants in the area as well, which the staff were able to recommend from personal experience. One very special thing was the way we were accommodated by staff when they learned that my daughter was having surgery and would not be able to manage being upstairs afterwards. it was no trouble to move us to a downstairs unit. Many thanks to a brilliant stay.

Great location. Easy to walk to CBD. Comfortable beds, dark shades in the bedrooms, trong showers. Kitchen was very well equipped. Friendly, helpful staff when we checked in. Fabulous place for a family to stay. Highly recommended. Basically across the street from Pedro’s House of Lamb. Pick up a dinner, some wine next door,, and you’re good to go!
