The stay at stratcona hotel was absolutely wonderful! The staff was very accommodating and welcoming especially with elvie(receptionist), the room were spotless. I would recommend this hotel for a comfortable and memorable experience.

Very noisy

Easy to walk to from the Black Ball ferry with lot's of choices within walkable distance for dining and sightseeing.

Great place to stay!

My son and I very much enjoyed our stay here. We came on the Black Ball Ferry without our car. It was a very easy walk from the ferry to the hotel. We arrived at 11am hoping to have them hold our bags but they already had a room ready for us and allowed us to check in early. The staff were very friendly and our room and beds were very comfortable. It was a great location. We were able to walk to restaurants and museums. The day we checked out they held our bags so we didn't have to carry them around until our ferry left at 4. I would highly recommend this hotel and definitely stay again!

Great for older partons on weekdays but noisy on weekends due to young patrons partying. Great location if vising Victoria.

It was situated in downtown so it was convenient to travel from ferry terminal through public transport and every spot was nearby. Overall there was cleanliness in the hotel. Recommended 👍

I always stay at the Strathcona and always love my stay there! Super convenient spot and close to the ferry!

The rooms very nice. But I was shocked that the parking was outside around the corner, up the block and across the street from the hotel.

A fine stay. Bring earplugs as the garbage trucks are banging about at 6 am! The hotel gave me a gift card for $20 for my birthday! Thanks! Had a nice steak and shrimp at the hotel’s restaurant. Tasty! Hard bed.

A great location near lots of sites!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Strathcona Hotel. It was conveniently located close to many places we could walk to- downtown shopping and restaurants, Murchie’s and Munro Books, the harbor and the Royal BC Museum. We parked in the hotel parking lot, 1/2 block away that was really convenient. Our room had a king sized bed, a sofa, microwave and small fridge. It was great place to come back to each evening to relax. People working at the desk were very friendly and helpful. A big shoutout to Nathalie for having our room ready early. We stopped to drop off our luggage early, and were thrilled to find out we could check in early.

Gorgeous iconic hotel

In the center of it all, walkable and close to everywhere. Directly above the best dive bar in town, Big Bad John’s. And next door to the library! Very friendly and helpful staff, quick and easy check in.

We like the location a lot. The desk staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. This is our go-to hotel when visiting Victoria.

It's a nice central location, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. What I found problematic was that I booked a room that said it was for 4 to 6 people, but then at check in they made me pay extra for every person over two people. Then when we got to the room, there were only two towels in the bathroom.

Given the limited parkings in Victoria, hotel provided paid parking at reasonable rate. Hotel is located at busy street where traffic and people noises can be heard. Hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Room is quite clean but small.

Got room upgraded and it is beautiful and roomy. We are here on a Saturday though and lots of outside noise. We easily walked around Victoria city centre to all sites from hotel.

I didn’t like that the parking was extra and half a block away and not covered. I had to walk in the rain to get back to the hotel. There was a signed that said bottled water was free but when I asked for two she said it was $3/ bottle. The fixtures in the bathroom were dated, even the shower head. I think it was a bath fitter renovation on the bathtub and a part sticks out bothering me when I was showering.

Didn’t like the room

Very modern and clean. The bed was soooooo comfortable!

No robe in the room. Front desk had a hard time solving simple problems for me.

I stayed there for one night and it was good but i am upset because i paid $100 as a deposit on 29 sept and its 16 October and still they didn't pay my back,and not helping me in any way.

They are currently under construction but they still did a great at managing everything while they renovate. Love this hotel!

There was construction on our floor that was very noisy. Victoria Police were banging on a door at 1:00am in the morning (no fault of the hotel) and the parking was mentioned to be unsafe. If I was 20 and there for a party it would have been good enough.

Room was gorgeous Staff were awesome. Forgot tooth brush and conditioner in the car and they supplied complimentary. Mentioned I waa looking for ice, He just went and got it awesome, so friendly.. Lol staff are super cute too. Bonus

We always enjoy staying at this property. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Everything is within walking distance. The parking is easy and convenient. The only complaints that I have this time are the front staff didn't accommodate our early arrival which they usually do, not even with a fee. Also, the housekeeping staff was very noisy in the morning waking me up at 7:30 am everyday, which I didn't appreciate while on holiday.

I didn't like that the desk was so close to the end of the bed.i messed my ankle up on the diurnal of the bed twice. I wish the beds were bigger arms more comfortable.

Strathcona was nice, much too expensive for the tiny rooms. Our room had a view of a wall from another building about a foot away, couldn’t see any sky or nature whatsoever. That being said, you pay for the experience with everything attached. Very convenient location for tourism. Good for couples, not great for families as it can be loud. They didn’t let us bring a friend to our room for a visit and security checked cameras and came up to escort them out. Overall great for a one-time experience. Wouldn’t stay here again. $300 per night, no breakfast. Not even any conditioner in the showers, but you can ask the front desk.

Close to waterfront.

The air conditioner dripped on my wife's' shoes and she had to dry them before she could wear them. Another guest complained of the same thing. Also, the elevator stopped working for several hours.

Quite, walking distance to all stores & interesting area are very easy. Close to buses stop, shopping malls. ❤️

Elvis, the front desk in-charge was helpful in checking us in. She gave us a lot of recommendations/options in where to go, where to eat and what bus # to take. She was kind, cheerful and polite.

Great property in downtown Victoria. Very central and comfortable to walk to the waterfront; however the city does not provide a huge choice of transportation if you want to leave the premises, but it has nothing to do with the property which was nearly perfect

The best thing about the hotel was definitely the friendly staff but the worst thing would be that there is no parking onsite. They have a small parking lot located about a block away but it is not gated or secure. Also being above a night club made it difficult to sleep.

The hotel location was excellent and the staff were super helpful especially celebrating my birthday. The construction in the room across the hall was a surprise at 9 am and it would've been helpful to know that but overal it was a great stay.

Great location! The service was friendly. Very clean. Attached bar was interesting but doesn’t open until noon. Starbucks and local coffee shops are close. Pricey for small rooms and not many amenities compared to other hotels in the area. No hair conditioner or lotion in the shower. One elevator in the hotel. Parking is outdoor and about a block away, but inexpensive. All in all, good but not excellent for the money.

I usually stay at The Strath because of it's excellent on-site amenities and food/beverage options, as well as the location being walking distance to all major attractions in Downtown Victoria. Sticky Wicket, rooftop patio bar, Big Bad John's, etc. Staff are great...friendly and welcoming, and anything that is needed for guests they respond right away! Check in and out was seamless too. However, having stayed in a City Suite for the first time this past weekend I thought the price was too expensive for the size of the room, which looked bigger on the Expedia website. I've stayed in rooms that were bigger at **** or ***** chain hotels for cheaper. The birds are also extremely annoying first thing in the morning, but that's not a hotel issue...oh, and don't park your vehicle on the streets right around the hotel as it'll get dumped on by bird poop!

Excellent property overall. Great service, location , comfortable bed & mattress, decent room size. Walkable within 10 minutes to restaurants, shopping streets. Strongly recommended.

Great hotel, lovely stay. Only gripe concerns the Sticky Wicket pub downstairs, which we were looking forward to. We called down from the hotel to place a takeout order, and were told that, in order to do a takeout order, we would need to come to the pub and wait for 15 minutes while they made our food. In other words, we couldn't place the order by phone and then come down in 15 to get it. We didn't proceed and ordered food elsewhere. I get that their intention is to get people to drink while waiting for their food, but their silly and misguided policy cost them our food order that night. Hopefully they change it.
