Fantastic location

Friendly, clean and fun property that located in a nice area, walking distance to central and museum quarters. Restaurants, groceries and high-end shopping are all nearby. Will definitely stay here again in the future

Wish we had more time to enjoy it

location was excellent and connected to everything via public transit just a short walk away. Hotel was clean and fun with great hosts, coffee shop/bar, and lots of area to lounge and gather. Our bunks were very comfortable (compared to other hostels in Europe) and the area was quiet at night. We will def choose this location on our next trip.

We were very happy with our stay. The room was impeccably clean, the staff we worked with went above and beyond to try to provide an early check in as our children were quite jet lagged. Location was perfect for visiting the museums - also just around the corner are fancy designer stores (which is an indication of a good location to me!). Could not be more satisfied - would recommend and happily return.

My friends and I stayed in a 6 person dorm room and it was super clean and spacious. This hostel isn’t very social though, there were a group of 12 year old there whilst we were there which was a bit awkward… There is also no kitchen which is annoying.

This hostel was exactly what we were looking for; it was comfortable, clean, and full of friendly people. This place is the only affordable place we found in Amsterdam and we were very happy with our stay here.

Nice location.

We had a nice, clean place to stay. I liked that the shower and the toilet were separate so others could use one or the other at the same time.

Right next to a gate to Vondelpark — we loved being able to run every morning! Great vegan breakfast with hummus and vegan yogurt for protein; we also loved the seeded dark rye rolls and the herbal tea! Next to all the museums and a lot more quiet than Dam square. Courteous and diverse staff, all super helpful. The room was very clean and practical. We really appreciated the bamboo toilet paper and all the eco friendly features! Five stars! Thank you! :-)

Great value and location was perfect

Really really good value for money. We had our room upgraded on arrival. Clean and in good condition. Only thing I’d change is being able to buy a hot drink in the evening. They stop serving these after a certain time. Also not allowed to take hot drinks back to the room.

Great location. Friendly staff. Great reasonably priced food in the lobby and a grocery store 100m from the hostel.

No air conditioning, rats seen around the coffee bar, staff refused to give a new room key.

We only had one night to stay but we loved the location and our private room was really nice, especially the shower. The staff were really friendly and there’s a warm and cheerful vibe for sure. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

I'll stay again

This place was terrific. Super social area with lovely food and drink. Amazingly large room with separate shower, sink and toilet. Comfy beds. Fab. Real shame about the noise outside in the early hours.

Absolutely amazing, Staff very welcoming and friendly Extremely clean room Food in the restaurant is spot on i enjoyed it No tv in room but this didnt bother me at all who needs a tv when you have the whole of amstetdam to explore. Best sustai place to stay to get around Amsterdam

This eco-friendly, sustainable property is fantastic! They did above and beyond during our stay in Amsterdam. Saw my Fiancée birthday card upon entering our room. Very kind gestures. The property is conveniently located to many public transportations. Easily accessible to the museums and nice restaurants. Management and staff are superb!

Really friendly staff, immaculately clean, great location for the museums, and the bus to the airport goes from the end of the street.

A beautiful area and building, Stayokay Vondelpark Hostel was already a sight to admire. We entered to helpful and cheerful staff, who helped us find our room which was close by and accessible (our friend has knee issues so the lift was so convenient!) the room held all six of us perfectly! We had enough space without feeling cramped. We enjoyed the comfort of the bunk beds, the easy access plugs and the bathroom and shower facilities available inside the room. The hostel itself downstairs was beautiful, the bar area filled with plants and offering a clean and modern vibe to an old city. We enjoyed drinks and food in the bar/eatery area. The drinks were affordable and we felt relaxed sitting there. They even let us order takeout and allowed us to eat it in the eatery area! In a convenient area, right next to the park and tram/bus stops, Stayokay Vondelpark is a perfect place to stay either by yourself or like us, as a group.

Great staff, great location, nice design, very clean

Helpful check-in guy gave lots of recommendations, but when we returned in the evening, the guy on the desk at that time said we couldn’t upgrade to late check-out, without even hesitating or asking someone. We would’ve been happy to pay more for this. Be aware this is a hostel, not a hotel. Even to get a room to yourself, it is two single beds with single duvets, not a double as advertised. A bit saddening when you’re travelling as a couple - perhaps find a hotel instead. Location is near Vondelpark, which is maybe a 10 minute tram ride then a 5 minute walk from the city centre. The hostel rents out bikes; we didn’t do this, but a good little feature for those who would like to. We paid nearly £120 for this room for one night, which I think is WAY too overpriced. Perhaps because of the date, as most other hotels were sold out, but yeah I wouldn’t pay this much again.

If i can stay there for ever i will. I love this place in general. Great staff, room was clean, new and with great atmosphere. We spend time looking around the place and made you felt like home. The bar staff was great, we loved this location and wish all the hostel in the world were like them.

Conveniently located & not the best amenities

Good: location is convenient. Direct bus to the airport. More quiet ambiance than expected. Bad: Wireless didn’t work. Light sensor In the washroom was broken. Asked to fix over the first two days and answer was technician is working on. Neither wireless and light got fixed over the 3 nights stay.

ooops... one smear on excellence

Excellent location,, organization, security. Meals on-site - for a reasonable fee. The one complain I have is that on the day of the early in the morning departure, the bus stop of the airport bus was not functioning due to planned demonstration and the stuff at the desk this morning should have been aware of that and suggest alternative stop for this particular bus, which was available not so terribly far from the hostel. As a result a number of hostel guest were waiting at the usually recommended stop without understanding the info rolloing on the bus stop information table and waiting for the bus to arrive. Finally the passing police officers, when asked, providing the info about the alternatives. With so many foreigners staying in the hostel, the hostel should keep abreast of the public transport temporary changes and should be advising the guests obviously checking out at 6 a.m. that the closest bus stop is not functioning and what are the alternatives.

Friendly staff, great location.

Great place to stay!

We had a private double room with toilet, wash basin and shower. Basic set up but all in good condition. The bar area is a nice place to relax after a busy day. Everything was nice and clean and it is in a superb location near Vondelpark. So much to see by foot and convenient for public transport. A 300m walk gets you to the bus that goes to the airport.

Different charge

It was okay for what it was. Was charged a different amount to what i purchases for at the place.

It is a hostel. The amenities are spartan but spotlessly clean. The breakfast service is quite good and reasonable priced. The only problem was noise at night. Our room was directly over the outdoor courtyard where people liked to gather . On two nights there were groups of people talking loudly until 2 or 3 a.m.

Very modern hostel......................................

Great location everything was in walking distance, the people there were nice and helpful. The beds were comfortable and gave you your own locker for each person in a large room with a lot of people although you had your own space and could move around with ease. Would highly recommend.

Why wouldn't you stay here?

2 friends and I stayed here for 5 nights. There is almost nothing bad to say about this hostel! The hostel itself looks cool from the outside and inside it is aesthetically pleasing and very clean. The dorms are spacious with adequate sized lockers with clean toilets and showers. They have a games room with foosball and air hockey which was fun. Lots of seating in the foyer with numerous vending machines and lots of touristy info. The bar food is delicious and is a fun place to drink in the evening when it's busy. Very enjoyable drinking and conversing with lots of cool interesting travellers! The best thing is the 7am to 10am free breakfast. There is no cooked food but the choice is very impressive. All the things you'd expect in a continental breakfast and way more! The location is an extremely close second to the breakfast as the best thing. A few minutes walk to Leidsplein square which has tonnes of bars and tasty places to eat. The Van Gogh museum is very close as well as canal tours. The city centre and red light district is a slightly longer walk (20-30 mins) but walking through Amsterdam is always enjoyable. Literally a few meters from the hostel reception is the beautiful Vondelpark. We spent so much time in there! It is huge with little lakes and cool wildlife. Walking through you will see so much going on. The only negative things I can say are I thought there could be more plugs in the dorms and be prepared to be woken up by your dorm mates!

convienient good value hotel in the centre

overall good. we were given a room on the 4th floor which was very dark and depressing and too high up. the staff were able to offer a room on the first floor with twin beds and a shower for the same price. the difference in the room was very marked and would have spoilt our stay. so glad we could be swopped. in general good value for money.

Good hostel to stay.

A short travel staying for 3 nights. Staff are helpful and the hostel service are good. However, no wifi covered in the room. Wifi is only serve in public area. . Private bathroom in the room is nice, but the condition could be better. Buffet breakfast is really nice;)

Great location, reasonable price, decent breakfast

It's an OK place, great location and decently priced. Everything is very functional. Because it is so large, you are one of large number of travellers and the service reflects this - not so personable. The bike hire is reasonable, although the Green Bike company nearby has better rates, including for bikes with pedal brakes only.

Great

Stayed here for 3 nights, the hostel was fine, no wifi in rooms and a total of 3 plugs for 6 people. When we arrived the room I guess had just been cleaned, and were cleaned each morning after someone left (however that was just a quick wipe over) I believe theres a free walking tour each morning around 10:30?? The location was great, and overall a good experience and stay ! Enjoy!!

Good Location

So the location was good, it was not easy to find. But it was really close to the center. Some of the staff were nice some were impatient. The room wasn't so clean, but what can you expect from a hostel? The experience from the hostel overall was nice.

Nice place to stay on a budget

This hostel is in a nice location, just next to the park. They had biking facilities, although I did not use them so I don't know how good this service is. We stayed in a 20 bed dorm which was fine as it was pretty empty. There was a bar/restaurant in the hostel which was a great place to have a few drinks before you go out. This is a great place to meet new people and others traveling. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Plenty of space to hang out downstairs. Everything was walkable from this hostel - Amsterdam was pretty walkable in itself.

4 stars for a hostel

For a Hostel the service is really good, Breakfast is included basic European its located on a dead end street located next to the Vondel Park it's about a 5-7 minuet walk from the #5 or# 2 tram they clean the floors and rooms everyday they also have washers and driers to your laundry as for the bed not much in the comfort zone but does work for sleep and not minding others coming in all night long but a pear of ear plugs and eye covers does the job for a good night sleep

Nice hostel near Vondelpark

Rates are good, it is literally next to the Vondelpark so it is virtually impossible not to find it, and all major attractions are close by. You can buy tickets to almost anything at the front desk, so it is all the Amsterdam experience in just one place! Of course, it IS an hostel so if you are looking privacy, not for you.

Great location, comfortable and very affordable

This hostel is in a great location by the park. The rooms are clean and have the standard bunk bed set up. They offer great discounts on food and drinks at their bar and breakfast is more than adequate.

Great value

We were there for 4 nights. Location is very quiet next to Vondelpark. Good access to public transportation. Overall, you get great value for your money.

Great budget option

As long as you keep in mind that this is a hostel, this is a great place to stay. The Vondelpark is lovely if you like to get out for walks or a morning run, and it is steps from the front door. It was very easy to get from the hostel to anywhere we wanted to go via the tram system. Breakfast was great, with a variety of foods to choose for most diets (I'm vegetarian). We stayed in a 10-bed dorm, and I think it was cleaned every day we were there. They also have a luggage locker room where you can pay a few euros to keep your bags if you have one more day of sight-seeing after you check out. bed linens were included but towels were not; you can purchase a towel at the front desk if needed. We enjoyed our stay.

Perfect accommodation for our trip

Went away for a long weekend in October and the Stayokay Hostel was perfect for our trip. I travelled with 3 other girls and didn’t feel unsafe at any point. We had a private room with private shower and toilet and they had cupboards to keep some stuff (padlocks available if you wanted to lock up but we didn’t need to) Room keys are needed to get entry into the building as well as to your room so the building doesn’t let randomers off the street in! We checked in at 10:30am but room wasn’t available until 2pm but we were given our keys so we could get straight in at 2pm. There are lockers available to use in the lobby area, you pay a minimum of 20 cents for 1 hour and if you go over the hour you pay the remainder when you pick your luggage up. The lockers are large and could fit 2 small suitcases plus extras. They are also available to you after you check out as well so ideal if you have a late flight etc. I didn’t experience the breakfast so can’t comment on that. Our room looked out into the entrance and we had no problems with noise or nuisance. I would recommend to stay here again. Vondelpark is beautiful and the location is perfect if you don’t want to be in the hustle and bustle of it all!

Good - but not as good as previous visits

This was my 7th time in Amsterdam, 2nd time with my girlfriend. We booked 3 nights (Fri, Sat, Sun) in a mixed dorm during October. I've stayed at the Stayokay several times before and have also stayed in some of the cheaper hotels which can be hit and miss so we decided to stay at the Stayokay this time, even though it meant sharing a room with others. I've done this previously with my sister and it was great, there were other mixed groups in the room and we all felt comfortable. This time I was disappointed! The ''mixed dorm' we stayed in was shared with 4 other blokes! This meant my girlfriend was the only female and I wouldn't call that a mixed room! If I had 5 blue smarties and 1 pink smartie I couldn't really claim to have a mixture of smarties could I!? Well a room full of males plus one female is not a mixed room, it's a male room with one uncomfortable female! A mixed room would have a roughly even split,at least one other female! We wasn't happy about this and as much as I love the Stayokay, the Stayokay completely failed to win my girlfriend over and we won't be staying there for our next trip. It's a great location, clean, friendly staff etc, but if you book far enough in advance you can have a private room in 3 or 4 star hotel in the centre for around £15-20 a day more. I would have gladly paid an extra 50 quid to upgrade us a private room. Overall it's a great place to go with your mates, but I won't be taking my girlfriend there again.

Stayed more than OK

The location of this hostel was so convenient. Bus 197 from Schiphol Airport led to a stop 5 mins away (walking) from this hostel. It seems quite a bit away from the city centre on the map but it's only a 30 min walk and it flies by because there is so much to see in Amsterdam! The staff were extremely friendly, approachable and accommodating! Our room was very clean and they give fresh linens to each guest. I had to put the linens on myself but I preferred to make my own bed rather than having someone else do it anyway.

Awesome..Couldn't have asked for anything better..Truly a good place to stay for people just looking for a bed to sleep at nite n awesome breakfast also.

Very bad experience

Convenient

The location is excellent for the museums and the hostel is well run. The en-suite rooms are very small. The beds in the twin room are very, very close together with hardly any room to move between them. The room with a bunk-bed was more convenient, especially for a single occupant.

Nice hostel, near downtown

In the beginning I had an unpleasant surprise to be sent to a room for men, because Expedia Travel did not mention I was a woman. I insisted to receive a room for women, and since they had only a room for 4 women, I had to pay extra money. Next day I was moved to a room for 10 women, which I had booked.

Location!

Clean hostel, perfect location to central Amsterdam as well as the green spaces of Vondelpark. A very cozy and safe place. =)

Expensive and wifi barely works!!! Disappointing.

The wifi is only in the public areas and barely works which was extremely frustrating given the expense of the hostel. We have been traveling for 3 months now, staying in hostels the entire time and despite being the most expensive hostel we have stayed in, it was the first time we had to make our own beds. This normally wouldn't be a problem, but being quite an expensive hostel, we expected this to at least come with the service regardless. The breakfast ran out both mornings we were there with only cereal and some cheese left. Two very good points though - the front desk was extremely helpful and being able to post mail at the hostel was excellent!

Cheap and cheerful

What can I say it was cheap & in a nice area the staff where helpful but sometimes not enough desk staff to help out esp when big groups came in. I would stay again and get a private room, its the way forward :D

you get what you pay for

Although Hotels.com screwed up one of my bookings the peeps at this hostel sorted it out and I have to say a BIG THANKS for doing so.

Just a nice place to crash

(+) Well this was a budget hostel, so you don't exactly get the high life. The services are basic but more than enough for people who just need a place to crash while exploring the city. It's on a quiet street literally a stone's throw away from Vondelpark and a short walk to the Museumplein and tram stops. Breakfast is free and decent. (-) The beds are a bit small and the lockers don't lock (haha), so bring your own padlock -- you can also get one from the reception. Wifi is fast and stable, but only available in public areas. Could use more electrical outlets -- there were only 3 in a room of 16 people.

Great overall

It is located in a very nice area. The breakfast was great. I stayed in 6 bed room with my friends and there was almost no problem / difficulty to stay over. You need to make your own bed by yourself but that was no problem. It was clean, the staffs were helpful. We liked the happy our at the bar downstairs. It could be a bit expensive considering it is a hostel but it worths. We enjoyed !

Good hostel stay

Overall it's a very good hostel, clean and efficient. I stayed in a 4 person room and didn't have any problems with noise (I do wear ear plugs with any hostel). The only problems I encountered were a very long breakfast line at 9am and somewhat uncontrollable water temperatures in the showers. But proximity to the park makes it nice, I'd stay again.

great hostel for students

the staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make sure I had a good time in amsterdam. Best hostel i have stayed at and I will stay with this company any other chance i get.

Family Friendly Hostel-Near everything!

This was one of the best stays I've ever had with my kids. Although it is unusual to stay in a hostel with children-this was a Family friendly place. The kids got to see the dorm style and see all ages/types of people staying in one place. An authentic Amsterdam experience. Rooms were clean, and comfy-not luxury but, a great night sleep for the price. The staff was great! Smiling and friendly. They made you feel very welcomed. Thank you for the great experience.

Atendimento descontraído e amigável. Vários ambientes agradáveis no térreo (inclusive para cerveja e petiscos no fim do dia). O café pago à parte (10 euros) vale muito à pena. Recepção AO LADO de uma das entradas do Vondelpark. Fácil acesso para quem vem do aeroporto (AMS).

Cet hôtel est très bien situé et les airs communs sont agréables. Mais ce sont les seuls avantages. Je trouve cela très désappointant pour ce genre d’établissement qu’il fasse payer pour notre serviette de douche alors que le prix est déjà très élevé. Aucune savon, tapis de douche, ni frigo commun, cet hôtel porte très mal son nom. Le personnel est attentionné, mais le confort est nul. Est-ce vraiment un établissement pour la jeunesse?

Si visitan Amsterdam de verdad les recomiendo ampliamente este hostal, yo me quede en la confort con baño privado y fue mejor de lo que esperaba, su ubicación está excelente y el personal muy amable, cafés deliciosos, va gente muy joven de muchos lugares y es más económico que un hotel 4 o 5 estrellas, no le pide nada, sin duda regresaría nuevamente.

Die Lage vom Hotel ist super, man hat es nicht weit ins Zentrum und dennoch ist es ruhig gelegen. Das Personal war immer sehr freundlich und hatte ein Lächeln im Gesicht. (:

En general, el lugar está muy bien, la verdad es que es toda una experiencia en donde todas las generaciones confluimos; pero el personal es de lo más genial, todos son súper atentos, dedicados y súper esmerados en su trabajo, me encantó el lugar; lo único es que jabón, toallas e insumos de limpieza se venden por separado
