Well situated to the Old City
Great hotel with a pool for the kids. The staff are amazing! I will definitely stay here again.
Great staff and pool, rooms require modernisation
Staff very friendly and helpful. The pool is very good and well looked after. The rooms are spacious but very tired. The bathroom required complete modernisation, it was almost impossible to have a shower and it was virtually a drip coming out and hard to control the temperature.
Good Hotel can be better.
The Hotel is old and there were some issues like water pressure electricity failure and slow elevators. TV is old. The Staff was reasonable but not so attentive. Calls for room service went unattended. Breakfast was decent. Location is good.
I’m traveling often in Jerusalem and this hotel offers one of the best quality/price in the area.
Nice clean property. Welcoming staff and great location
Good location. Staff very friendly. Limited dining within easy walking distance.
Easy access to the Garden Tomb and the Old City. Staff very friendly and efficient.
TV never work for the week we were there with the staff was great but they never fix the TV
Greta little hotel very close to all the sites and
Great little hotel very close to the old town in Jerusalem - very friendly helpful staff Good value for money
Awesome
Well priced and well located.
This hotel was a good choice for my stay in Jerusalem. Just a few minutes walk to the old city. [The pool which is a feature of the advertising looks lovely with its vantage point but was not open for swimming due to no lifeguard on duty.]
Excellent Hotel, stuff and location
Great staff nice hotel excellent location
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast food was really good and varied. The pool needs a little bit of tlc and the parking was not right next to the hotel.
Expensive but really great. I'm told it's owned by Palestinians, which is one of the reasons I booked there. The rooftop is lovely at night, and wasn't crowded. Laundry services overpriced so I waited until switching to National, which was marginally cheaper. The people working the reception were so friendly and helpful and indulged my wanting to speak only in Arabic. Zero complaints.
low value. potential and reality don't meet
- The small rooftop pool indeed has great views but the water was dirty, which made it irrelevant. - Breakfast was 20 euros a person - less than avetage at most + you had to pay extra for coffee (!). - Instead of a view to Jerusalem, my terrace was facing a fence and a parking lot, like many other rooms in the hotel. And because it is located on a major public transportation road, several buses a minute made it exceedingly noisy. I would NOT book a room before they *physically* show you it's a one of the rooms facing the city (but i don't think you can do that online).
Great location and friendly staff! Nice, clean room. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that our air conditioning wasn't working and it took a couple days to fix. Not too many food options on site but there were plenty of things in walking distance and the reception staff was always willing to give recommendations and directions!
Very pleasant stay. Good location. Professional staff. Quiet and spacious room.
Good location close to everything.
Very difficult to find plugs in the room -- had to pull night table away from bed to find a plug -- awkard. Would suggest they add extenstion cords so ready for easy plug in for their guests.
Besonders nettes Personal, gute Lage zur Altstadt, tolle dachterrasse mit Pool , Restaurant mit view (- war leider bei uns nicht in Betrieb)
The hotel was very nice, very clean. The concierges were very helpful especially Jirius. But i asked for a receipt when i checked out and i was given what looked like a made up copy.
Perfect
Decent hotel for the price.
Decent hotel for the price. The staff are excellent - extremely helpful & pleasant. However, the restaurant & bar were closed (because of Covid?) but this was not mentioned when booking or on the hotel's own website, which was disappointing. Pool also closed. Very well positioned for old city.
Great location. Room cleaning should be improved. The breakfast is ok not more than that. The parking lot is really small (fits up to 5 vehicles). There is on-street parking if available. There is another parking lot nearby which Is paid. The staff is friendly and always smiling.
We liked it
The staff is very helpful, the food is excellent, the view is great.
Our stay was peaceful and nice, the staff is friendly, the service is amazing, the only problem was that the bathroom taps was not very much clean, kindly improve on that.
Location is great. Proximity to old city is best. Very large rooms.
Staff very friendly. Hotel in a nice area. Clean and enjoyable.
Great location, staff very friendly, professional and had a good sense of humour.
Good location, but hotel looking very tired, had a cold shower one evening, staff could be a bit grumpy.
The room was very spacious and that was a big plus! they also have an amazing restaurant - the food was divine! usually we go past hotel restaurants but after reading the reviews decided to give it a go and weren't disappointed. lots of locals were there, so that could be an indicator too. the decor was a bit outdated but the location was great. and staff were lovely
If you call the hotel a five star place... disappointing the experience overall. Carpet filthy Dust everywhere Bathroom filthy with traces of paint all over Breakfast very very poor Sad.... Imagine i ve got an upgrade of the room !!!
very nice hotel at walking distance from the old city
Very nice hotel close to Damascus Gate. The air conditioning is terrific.
Location of the hotel males it an outstanding value and the roof top pool with a great view of the old city turns it from a good hotel to a great one. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Very friendly staff and accommodations. A good location within a short walking distance to the Old City.
Fantastic location - great hotel with rooftop pool
The staff were very friendly and obliging. The hotel was quiet and very well located. The roof top pool was a blessing as we went in July. The view over the Old City was incredible. There are 2 restaurants to eat from in the hotel, we used the informal one. Food was good and a pleasant selection. Well priced too compared to other places we looked at. The hotel is in the Arabic area and a direct walk to the Damascus Gate of the Old City. The walk takes about 8 minutes. We stayed for 5 nights so go to know some of the shop owners en route and they were very accommodating. Most will try speak english or find someone who does. All the expected holy sites are with in walking distance from the hotel and easy to get to from it. Although be prepared - everything is either up or down a hill, very little is on flat ground. For really good information go to the Christian Information Centre across from the Tower of David - they were the most unbiased in providing information of what to do and how to get there.
Poor service and misleading website.
No dining options at the hotel despite the fact that the website said there was. Parking was very limited and difficult to use because cars were parked in.
I am not happy there
I was disappointed about this hotel ...i thought that was good hotel but I confused about.
Worst hotel in the area
Beware. Dirty rooms, rude staff, no service, no help, bad breakfast, no minibar, no room service, no new towels, no help with tours, no help with taxis. The sums it up!
Not a 5 star Hotel.
Horrible hotel... Not a 5 star hotel, more like a 2 star. it has dirty rooms, there is NO room service, No minibar, poor breakfast, house keeping is mediocre, they don't change towels. sometimes you might not get house keeping at all. floors are dirty, staff is rude and not helpful, lobby has bugs. i wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.
Easy walking distance for old and new Jerusalem
We stayed at the St. George for two weeks and found the location near Damascus gate to be ideal. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to look after us.We were easily able to walk to the old and new parts of the city.Breakfast was buffet style and outstanding. There is a carhire company across the road which is both cheap and efficient (Middle East carhire) They provided an English Language sat nav which was not too bad, although it will not take you thru' Arab areas ).After 3 days we had seen most of Jerusalem on foot, so a hire car was very welcome. We then went off in the car to visit the Israel Museum for which you need a full day, and the Biblical zoo which was ten pounds each and had every thing. That was a full day out too.The dead sea, Qumran, En gedi (full day and take a swim suit and good hill walking shoes) Caesarea , Tiberius and Galillee were great places to go, and we were able to visit (free entry) the Caprice diamond factory near Tiberius which was fascinating and gives 50% discount on jewellery bought in the shop.Petrol is about the same price as England.
3.8/5.0 is the best description of the hotel.
Clean room but dirty windows. Food is not worse but not the best. No perculator Coffee in the breakfast which is Minys for me. All in All...3.8 out of 5.0 is the best description. I'd recommend it;but only for for up to 2 night.
Excellent stay
We had a great time. Beautiful hotel. Friendly. Amazing view from the rooftop pool.
Friendly and helpful staff
The hotel staff is very hospitable and helpful.
Wonderful staff and perfect location
Great location, 10mins walk to the Damascus gates in east Jerusalem. Friendly staff that made extra efforts to make your stay more enjoyable. Nice breakfast and good size rooms.
Somewhat comfortable hotel near the Old City
I spent one night on my own, and a two more as part of a group. In general, the hotel is clean and comfortable but a lot of minor inconveniences such as lack of coffee pot, improper functioning of faucets etc. reduced the enjoyment of my stay.
Good location, nice rooms.
Convenient to the Old City, and to the bus stops both for travelling within Jerusalem and to the West Bank. The rooftop pool is lovely and a perfect place for a swim on a summer morning or evening. Rooms are very comfortable, with good air conditioning, comfortable beds, and good-sized bathrooms. Breakfast is good but not great.
Very nice pool overlooking the old city was refreshing after a day The rooms are big and clean, bathroom facilities are very basic The pool closes early around 6pm which is not good, the restaurant overlooking the old city was also closed in the evening. Staff were always helpful
Very disappointed in room way too expensive
Poor internet connection plus room cleanliness very disappointing and way over priced
Near Old Ciry
Everything was good to great. Hotel was understaffed and the WIFI was poor
Good position but in East Jerusalem.
This hotel is reasonably positioned. However, The staff were very unhelpful. The service at breakfast was non existant and the quality was pretty poor. The suite was a reasonable size but not great value for money. I would look elsewhere first and book this as last resort.
Smart clean hotel with rooftop pool
Fantastic hotel, 5 minute walk from the Old City. Very smart and clean. The staff were brilliant, friendly & polite. Breakfast good with lots of choice. The rooftop pool was a big bonus.
Close to all must-see sights
Both me and my friend enjoyed the hotel very much. The hotel staff were very friendly and prodivded excellent service. I wold recommend this hotel to others traveling to Jerusalem.
Great hotel
We had a fab time in Jerusalem which was enhanced by the fantastic location, friendliness of the staff, great breakfast and superb views over the city.
Great Location
V good hotel, yes there is construction nearby but i think you will find Jerusalem is very noisy anyway and it doesn't start particulary early. Great location, 5 mins to the old city and 20 mins to downtown so you can't ask for more. Room was plush, only negative is the cleaners should take better care of the bathrooms. Breakfast was great, good selection and attentive staff.
Great hotel, very reasonably priced
Great hotel, great service. steps from the damascus gate. I would recommend to anyone
Charming service, quick walk to old town
Room was on the small side, but the lovely & helpful service made us feel very welcome.
Easy walking distance to two gates, okay free breakfast, helpful people (esp for the area). Good price/location/amenities combo.
Good Location
The Hotel is located approx. 10 mins walk from the old city of Jerusalem.
2 star at best. Bring earplugs
I was not satisfied with this hotel for the most part. As others have said, the street noise can be very loud. Knowing this I asked to be given a room in the back. They were 'fully booked" so i could not be moved. I asked the location of my room and was told it was "near the back". It was the room closest to the street on the first floor with a bus stop right outside my window. It was incredibly loud with 24 hours of cars honking, loud buses stopping and going, and even a car accident during my stay. I'm a deep sleeper but didn't get a decent night's sleep. The room was not very clean when I arrived...there was hair all over the place, stains on the bed and other debris on the floors. The robe in the bathroom looked used so i placed it on the floor and housekeeping never replaced it. I asked to be moved if a room ever opened up and was told that my room is a nice room -- IMO the extra space did NOT make up for lack of sleep. There were some positives - nice view from rooftop, the attendant at breakfast was very friendly, 5 minute walk to Damascus gate. I do not recommend this place, especially for the price.
Great location. Walk to Damascus Gate
Clean, comfortable hotel with amenities. The restaurant staff was unfailingly polite. We would certainly stay here again.
Easter 2014
Booked the Royal Suite so room was big with great views. Kitchen area fairly basic with no plates, utensils etc so a bit disappointing. Guest bed for our daughter was basic. Clean and well presented accommodation and hotel. Staff on desk helpful and friendly but only saw Guest Relations chap once in six days so unable to comment in this regard. Hotel food of a good quality for Jerusalem and breakfast with good continental style choices. Only had a meal twice at hotel and a bit disappointed to know (when asked for wine menu) to be told choice is of two white or two red both if which one is local. Questionable For a 4 star. Palestinian area not a problem but run down compared to Jewish areas. Overall, would recommend but as we like to try different hotels would probably go to Notre Dame Hotel or Mamilla if we came back. Best of all, less than 10 minutes to one if the most interesting and dynamic places on earth.
Quiet Hotel near the Damascus Gate
Overall a nice hotel situated near the Damascus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem. Rooms are big and spacious and are kept spotlessly clean. Restaurant can be a little overcrowded at times as they cater for pilgrims, we visited during Easter week so we expected it to be busy. There are two young waitress's Mariana & Amos [I hope I have their names correct] and they were always very accommodating . We would most certainly re-visit this hotel
Good experience
The location is terrific if you want to spend time in the Old City. Not so good if you are interested in shopping in nice stores and dining in better restaurants.
Great hotel right next to the old city.
The only thing better about this hotel than the location is the staff. They were so friendly and helpful. They gave me all of the info I needed about the city and made all of my transportation reservations.
10 minutes walk from Damascus Gate
This hotel is less than 10 minutes walk to Old Jerusalem and less than five minutes walk to the Garden tomb. The staff is more than helpful, my wife and I had a 2 double beds room confirmed, the receptionist upgraded us to a queen bed and free breakfast for no extra charge. Full breakfast at the rooftop dining room with a beautiful view of Jerusalem walls. The hotel is fully renovated. One negative thing is the street noise, and I think if you want to be on a major street anywhere you will here the cars all day.
East Jerusalem
The hotel location was perhaps the best thing about the hotel overall. The restaurant was also very good. The staff was overall quite young and often less than enthusiastic. The room was fine; not great not terrible. They did provide a bottle of water each day and there is a small coffee maker in the room.
Nice hotel close to the historical objectives.
Very interesting city, a lot of multicultural experience and various religions. The people are friendly and redy to support the turists.
Great location
Staying as a family, we had a comfortable and enjoyable 3 nights here. Staff very friendly, 'valet' parking which was very useful in area with little parking available, and clean rooms. Breakfast on rooftop just wonderful. The old city is within walking distance (10mins or so) through a lively local neighbourhood. Would certainly stay again.
Close to Old City, easy to walk everywhere
I thought overall the hotel was good, better than most in Israel. Nice dinner and breakfast area and good terrace to view. The only drawback to this hotel is a bit of noise, good for them they provide ear plugs and a mask!
nice hotell bad service
Nice hotell and room. Terrible service.specaly in the rooftop resturant.the kelners were insulting and not trained at all.Shame forethe overall exsperience.the food was good though.

Friendly staff and great location
The hotel is in the Arab quarter of Jerusalem, which means that shops and restaurants are open on Fridays and Saturdays. The reception staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. No complaints about the room or condition. Rooftop swimming pool would be great when the weather is warmer. Nearby there is the wonderful Armenia Ceramic Workshop, perfect for gifts. And to eat there is the American Colony and the Jerusalem Hotel, the staff at the latter are lovely. For decent coffee try Nordic Coffee, just up the road towards the American Colony or the Educational Bookshop in the other direction towards the Old City.
