Basic but pleasant

The Capricorn Hotel is basic but pleasant and its central location makes it a handy economical option in the CBD.

The room we stayed, noisy wooden floor, bed bugs and terrible parking! We got blocked in by 2 cars and had wait for half an hour for the driver to move his car so we could drive out! For the price we paid! Not happy!!

The services were not up to standard. The students that are there on work experience should have the rooms they clean checked by a supervisor. Somedays we were not left toilet paper or bath mat. I had to keep asking for these. The two cup and saucer that in the room when we arrived were not replaced when the room was cleaned. At one stage I was drinking my cup of tea out of the milk jug which came on the breakfast tray. Three days of the week we did not get any cereal yet we had a jug of milk on the tray. The Television had a poor reception. The last day we were getting channel one on all of the first three channels. The floor could have done with a dry dust mop or a wet mop. We liked the balcony which we could open and allow fresh breeze to flow through. The staff that we did deal with were very helpful and willing to provide for our needs when asked.

I like the view and the rooms But i didnt like the service and there is no bar and breakfast is poor

The room wasnt what i expected. Iwanted a presidential suite but was offered a 2 bedroom dirty room. Not worthwhile booking Wouldn't recommend it to anyone

Dissatisfied

No toiletries. Sandpaper towels. No wifi in room only ouside. Not value for money

Decent, clean room and friendly staff. Don't really like the door lock for the room though, it's a bit flimsy and difficult to unlock with the key. The breakfast provided was decent and basic. Would be nice to have some fruit as well... whatever fruit is in season.

Easy walk to shopping and Roman Catholic Cathedral

The staff made up for any shortcomings of the property.

The staff was friendly and helpful as was the staff of Seoul restaurant located at the property.

Room had cockroaches, there was no tea, coffee or sugar, or soap, towels were smelly, could not close the bathroom . Did not have any Television and there was no Air Condition in the room. Bed was very uncomfortable and we could not have breakfast due to the overall hygiene and there was very little food left around 8 am when we got to there. Very disappointed for the amount we paid and the room we got, please do not recommend this hotel to anyone, Thank you

It was close to the city centre - excellent The lift wasn't working, No telephone in the room, shower would go off without warning,

Nothing. The freaking lift did not work. Was on 5th floor. Had to walk down the flight of stairs. Could not climb stairs so was given room103. No chair to sit and eat breakfast. Cockroachs everywhere. Worst hotel. I have ever stayed.

Slow check-in, admittedly late at night (11.30 pm, flight delayed),but only one person on duty for the queue; no QR code in room to access Room Service - I had to go to Reception to get service - food was luke warm when it arrived. On the other hand, the taxi I ordered through the hotel waited over an hour for my delayed flight - thank goodness.

This property is so quiet, not much help for your bags, it's an old building, with dark areas on the 3rd floor, and scary no guests around it seems like a haunted hotel, it looks nice from the outside but inside is so different. breakfast sucks, only bread, tea, and orange juice that's all I would never stay here again

The property is in a very convenient location as close to the city. However the hotel itself is in a rundown status and urgently needed an upgrade, from the bed to furnitures to the toilet. The staff were helpful but the total package (service and property)makes the customer satisfied or otherwise.

Pretty run down, which wasn’t a dealbreaker, but no hot water, dead roaches on the floor, cleaning staff waking me up early, and Korean restaurant kitchen noise right above my room were dealbreakers. Front desk staff was really nice, but cleaning staff seemed to keep mocking me and laughing at me. I left early.

bad experience

One of the worst hotel to stay. Will never recommend any one to stay at this hotel . Have very bad experience so we chaked out earlier . overall standard of this hotel is very poor.

The stay was good. The hotel is run down but is very central, so easy to walk to the shops. Breakfast is included in the room charge. Breakfast is served on the top floor so the room is very hot. The air condition is in the room but could not be turned on for some reason. The cleaners needed to improve on what they do: they loved turning up early in the morning during weekends for some reasons so that was very disturbing. During week days they would turn up at odd times, so it was difficult knowing whether they had finished their job or they'll be back with the fresh towels that they forgot. Two days they turned up and left and never came back to clean up the room.

While location was good. Nothing else really was. Rubbish bin in the room had no liner. Switches for light were far from the bed meaning one had to walk back to bed in dark. TV worked badly. Big crack on the wall (wall along the roadside) While the website advertised free wifi, in reality it was only in the lobby of the hotel. Overall, quite a bad experience.

Closeness to services

Should not be paying anything over 20USD (provided you're desperate) for this property. Room was dirty, had hair on counter tops and shower unit tiles were gross. 1 shower and the outer area was flooded with no drainage, had to wear flip-flops to use toilet. Aircon not working, it was hotter in room than outside. They had no solution, I had to suggest them bringing a table fan so we could get thru the night. Breakfast was a mess, the breakfast table was a mess, cloth was dirty with spillage and stains. No plates and cutlery, dining tables were dirty, not cleaned after each use. No staff insight. The outside area is dirty, lobby area is dark and unwelcoming. Would not recommend this property to anyone.

US$160 per night did not match the facilities of the room. The bathroom not clean well. Aircon did not work and It was too hot in the room, we ask for the fans, and the lovely girl at the reception hand one to us which help us a little to have a some sleep. Only stay here because most of Suva hotels are full. The girls at the reception are friendly and lovely, however a little paint and attention to the rooms will be awesome.

Property was undergoing renovation and the work appeared to have been under way for some time and was progressing very slowly with closed off areas. Included breakfast was well below expectation

Bedhead shakey, no toaster,had to request shampoo and tea bags etc.No water service for one day.

Staff were unusually unfriendly for Fiji. No wifi in the room; had come to the lobby to get better reception only to be continued to be disturbed by the security guard. Really run down property.

False advertisement. The building had mold everywhere from the bathroom to the bedroom area. Also, everything was held together with zip ties. There was urine on the toilet seat upon arrival. The location was not in a safe area and was very noisy both inside and outside the hotel.

Staff all very nice, they do their best to maintain the place - it shows its age a bit. Reasonable for the price point and the included breakfast was ideal. Hot water works so pretty much all you need without the fuss.

A centrally located quality hotel

My three friends and I were on a golfing holiday to Fiji. Our stay at the Southern Cross Hotel was at a convenient distance to the Fiji Golf Club. Our rooms were clean and comfortable with a stand alone and quiet air-conditioning system. The inclusive cooked breakfast was tasty and filling. The staff were really warm, friendly and most helpful.

Disappointed with no WIFI for 2 days - mouse droppings in room - same selection for breakfast daily - was not told most shops / restaurants / hotels closed for long weekend

Close to town. Depressing

We left after the first night of three night stay. Mould in bathroom and balcony. Beds sagging. Breakfast nearly inedible. Spend the money and go to GPH.
