A little piece of paradise!

This place is very special and has outstanding views across Sao Vicente. The staff are wonderful and it has a real ‘retreat’ style feeling. Highly recommend!!

Worth the drive

It is a very nice hotel, but the road to get there is difficult and there is no restaurant at the hotel, at least in winter, so you have to get out to eat. The staff is very nice and the breakfast is among the best.

Stay at Solar da Bica

Very friendly staff and lovely setting. Need a car to get around. Breakfast optional but fresh and varied- continental breakfast. Good walks a short drive away. Loved our stay.

Fabulous views. Peaceful

Great hotel. Lovely location with superb views. Friendly helpful staff. Good rooms, if a little basic but you must remember this is a guest house not a five star hotel. Lovely fresh breakfast, although nothing cooked, with extensive range of local and fresh products. The hotel even encourages you to pick produce from the garden if you wish. No restaurant in the evening but plenty of places in the town. Both on the sea front and in town. Would recommend the pub bar, in the town itself. All in all this is a lovely little guest house and I would recommend it.

Nice hotel in the mountains

We arrived 1 day late due to our flight being delayed and the hotel accommodated our cancellation of 1 night without charging us. Really very helpful and friendly staff.

Great Place to stay in the north of Madeira

We stayed for 9 nights at Solar da Bica in December. It is in a good location (provided that you have a car) close to Sao Vicente and the northern coast. It is very comfortable and the staff are wonderful. Breakfast is very good. There is a small indoor swimming pool. On the lower floor where breakfast is served there is a lounge area with free tea & coffee (espresso maker). There is a well stocked 'honesty bar', you pay your drinks bill when you check out. There is a log fire in the evening. Not really required for heating during our stay but it provided ambience. We would definitely stay again.

Peaceful, Calm, Friendly, Clean!

Peaceful, calm, excellent Service. The staff at the hotel including the owners are amazing. Super friendly, happy to help and very accommodating. Very clean rooms. We had the apartment as there were 4 of us and it was comfortable, great size. The garden with fresh fruit and vegetables was amazing. The pool and pool area was extremely clean. Always room for us and always plenty of clean towels. Rooms were cleaned and organised daily which was nice. Out of the way of any of the towns but only a few minutes by car to Sao Vicente where there are a few decent restaurants and coffee shops which do amazing cakes. Great views into the valley and green everywhere. Perfect location to stay when visiting the island as it is pretty central to everything. I would definitely stay again. The fresh breakfast every morning in the hotel was excellent, locally produced products and home made cakes every day. okay the pillows were lumpy and the beds were firm/hard but when you are in a place like this and the staff are amazing, views are awesome, it does not really matter. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

Peace and Quiet in Beautiful Surroundings

Friendly, clean, wonderful surroundings on the side of a beautiful valley close to the sea. Top marks for the swimming pool and garden. Free tea coffee and cake all day and an honesty bar that was well stocked. Would certainly return and take friends.

Parfait endroit pour un séjour paisible à Sao Vicente. L'ambiance calme qui y règne nous donnait envie de chuchoter. La vue de notre chambre était magnifique, surtout au lever du soleil où pouvait admirer le "montain glow". Le déjeuners inclut était composé d'ingrédients frais et variés, comme les fruits du jardins et le yogourt maison. Nous y avons passé deux nuits et on aurait voulu rester plus longtemps!

Le stationnement était très contigü

Solar da Bica bietet alles was man sich wünschen kann: eine tolle Aussicht, saubere Außenanlage und Zimmer, nettes Personal, biologischer Garten, exzellentes Frühstück, Parkmöglichkeiten direkt vor dem Eingang. Wir würden definitiv wieder kommen

Trismo rural no seu melhor!

Sítio perfeito para descansar, muito acolhedor, funcionários super simpáticos..enfim adoramos..recomendo a todos os que apreciam o silêncio e natureza.

Sehr ruhige Lage am Berg. Tolles Panorama. Sehr freundliches Personal. Gutes Frühstück. Kühlschrank im Zimmer.

Comme à la maison

Petit hôtel excentré par rapport à Sao Vicente mais très agréable. Nous avions réservé l'appartement en rez de jardin. Il était parfaitement équipé. Le personnel de l'hôtel est particulièrement sympathique et disponible. L'hôtel dispose d'un portager dans lequel vous pouvez prendre légumes et fruits à volonté. L'hôtel ne dispose pas de restaurant mais il y en a plein a Sao Vicente (10min de route). Nous avons pu également profiter de la piscine et du sauna (ce dernier en supplément mais privatisé). Pas mal de randonnées à proximité également !

A ne pas manquer

Mysigt hotell

Fantastiskt läge, utsikten är superb. Jättetrevlig personal och god frukost där mycket är odlat i hotellets trädgård. Rummet vi bodde i kändes lite fuktigt men helhetsintrycket är väldigt bra.

The quiet and very beautiful small hotel is situated in a valley near the northern coast of the island. The approach is partly steep, but otherwise unproblematic. The accommodation is very well connected to the other places on Madeira by a well driveable expressway - in only a few minutes you reach the southern "sunny side" of the island. All the sightseeings of the island as well as the hiking trails can be easily reached from this accommodation, whereby the north-east of the island is less well developed in terms of traffic. Our room was very nicely and tastefully furnished - with a wonderful view to the rugged valley. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, we immediately felt very comfortable. Since we don't need breakfast, we limited ourselves to coffee in the morning, which can be freshly prepared around the clock for free at a self-service counter. There is also fresh water, tea, a honesty-bar etc. In the evening you can warm yourself at a cosy fireplace. We enjoyed our stay very much - and would book the "Solar da Bica" at any time again as accommodation.

Bonne qualité de séjour et services mais ...

Je regrette mais la localisation de l'hôtel s'est avéré un problème pour moi : rue vraiment très ride et étroite à l'arrivée (je me suis vraiment demandée si je devais passe là), hôtel situé très haut et très loin de Sao Vicente : la vue n'est pas meilleure que plus bas, le calme pas plus calme, bref pour moi cela ne vaut pas le coût de monter là haut. La piscine : elle ferme peu de temps après le retour d'excursions 20h, résultat pas mis les pieds dedans. Le petit déjeuner est copieux (charcuterie, fromage, pain, fruits, céréales) mais sans plus. Bref, c'est la 1e fois en 30 ans que je ne suis pas d'accord avec le Routard.

Bel hébergement dans un endroit magnifique

Magnifique et très calme, propre et confortable. Seulement dommage que l'appartement situé en bas n'ait pas beaucoup de vue sur cette magnifique vallée.

Très bon accueil, le personnel du solar est attentionné, les chambres sont spacieuses, le petit déjeuner est parfait (sauf le thé... qui pourrait être "en vrac"). C'est un endroit agréable pour se reposer dans un environnement champêtre et visiter la côte nord-ouest.

eine herrliche besondere Oase im Norden Madeiras. Ideal zum Erholen, Genießen der Natur, Top Ausgangslage für Wanderungen, Retreat für Paare. Das Personal ist einmalig herzlich!!! vielen Dank Solar da Bica für die schönen Momente in Ihrem Guesthouse und das fantastische Frühstück .

Herzliche Gastgeber mit großem Umweltbewusstsein!

Bei dem Solar da Bica handelt es sich um ein B & B, wobei das Frühstück (8 h bis 10 h) pro Tag 9 € pro Person kostet. Dieses besteht aus leckeren lokalen Bioprodukten, teilweise im eigenen Garten, wo man sich auch selbst bedienen darf, angebaut. Die Zimmer sind zwar klein, aber für die Bedürfnisse ein Wander-Madeira-Reise mehr als ausreichend. Möchte man mehr Platz kann man sich in das UG begeben, wo ein super schöner Gemeinschafts-Kaminraum auf einen wartet. Überall in der Unterkunft gibt es kostenfreies WLAN. Unser Badezimmer war von der Fläche her zwar groß genug, jedoch ein Mensch > 1,80 m hat Probleme aufrecht zu stehen, befindet er sich nicht gerade in der Dusche. Apropos Dusche: Warmes Wasser zum Duschen gibt es zwischen 7 h und 10 h und zwischen 17 h und 22 h angestellt ist (der Umwelt zu Liebe). Es wird aber auch darauf hingewiesen, dass man auf Nachfrage bei der Rezeption auch außerhalb dieser Zeiten "warm" duschen kann und das Warmwasser dann angestellt wird. Bzgl. der Lage muss man sagen, dass es oberhalb von Sao Viceñte in Lameiros (bestimmt ein Stadtteil ?!) liegt und mit der Ausschilderung gut zu finden ist (enge Straßen, nicht zögern, einfach durchfahren). Parkplätze für die Gäste von Solar da Bica sind ausgeschildert und direkt vor der Unterkunft. Den Swimmingpool haben wir nicht genutzt, sah aber ansprechend aus. Auf der Terrasse hat man einen super Blick über Sao Viceñte und das Gebirge. Für Wanderreisende ne gute Wahl, finden wir.

hôtel accueillant et très confortable

l'accueil était très chaleureux. Chambre très confortable et très propre, grand salon pour la détente ainsi que le jardin et la piscine.

Schönes Hotel für den Urlaubsanfang

Diese hübsche Unterkunft war die erste Station unseres 14 tägigem Madeiraurlaubes. Hier konnte man erstmal nach dem Arbeitsalttag zur Ruhe kommen. Am besten hat uns die Ruhe beim Frühstück gefallen. Das liebevoll gestalltete Frühstücksbuffet war der beste Start in den Tag.

Leuke locatie, maar de 4 kamers onder het dak zijn te weinig hoog om rechtop te lopen! Sober ontbijt. Prijs/kwaliteit minst van de hele reis.

Absolut idyllische Lage. Für Wanderer, Naturliebhaber und Ruhesuchende. Familiär geführtes Hotel , netter Service, gutes Frühstück.

Fantastisch fijn hotel.

wij zijn er twee nachten geweest. Fijn hotel, zeer aardige mensen, rustige ligging met een mooi uitzicht. Goed ontbijt. Schoon ook. Ligt ook lekker centraal om uitstapjes te maken, je hebt wel een auto nodig. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. wij waren er in januari, maar in de zomer kun je zeker lekker buiten zitten. Beneden is er een fijne ruimte waar je kunt zitten en koffie, thee of een wijntje kunt drinken. Ook ging dan de houtkachel aan.Fantas

Wunderschönes, herzliches Traumhotel

Es ist ein wunderschönes,ruhig gelegenes,sauberes Hotel.Die Leute sind so freundlich und herzlich.Das Frühstücksbuffett ist sehr gut!Die Anlage und Umgebung sehr gepflegt.Es war einfach ein perfekter Aufenthalt!!!Immer gerne wieder!

Prachtig hotel, vriendelijk personeel, aanrader!!

Het hotel ligt hoog in een dorp met mooi uitzicht over het dal. Wij hebben hier vier nachten overnacht. Twee avonden werd typisch Madeireens eten gekookt. Dit was voortreffelijk!! De service in het hotel was uitstekend!!

飯店位於山上，地理位置偏遠，但是環境跟戶外景色令人難忘，絕對值得住一晚，飯店內部裝潢很溫馨，飯店櫃檯人員有禮親切，英文溝通能力良好。飯店早餐非常豐盛，選擇相當多。晚上附近沒有餐廳，要開車到附近的小鎮用餐，我們當天是用走的來回，慢慢走一趟時間大約花50分鐘。整體而言住宿經驗令人相當滿意，所看到的美景讓人感動，永生難忘。

Gutes Frühstück mit Obst und Gemüse aus dem eigenen Garten. Sehr freundliches Personal. Ruhige Lage, ohne Mietwagen kaum zu erreichen.

Gute Lagen an der Nordküste

Die Unterkunft befindet sich in schöner Lage oberhalb von S. Vincente. Die Betreiber sind sehr zuvorkommend. Schön wäre wenn die Zimmer Balkon hätten. Frühstück mit Bio Produkten ist gut und reichhaltig. Die Zimmer sind sauber die Betten bequem. Indoor Schwimmbad mit Panoramafenstern steht ebenfalls zur Verfügung. Sitz und Liegewiese neben dem hauseigenen Garten bieten schönen Ausblick. Zugang zur Nord und Südküste und zum Hochland sind optimal ( Straße zum Hochland momentan gesperrt

Ideal pour visiter le nord de madere

Un lieu ideal pour visiter le nord de l'ile. Tres proche de nombreux departs de randonnee. Un lieu tres accueillant et une hote ( Fernanda) aux petits soins. Les prestations d'un bon hotel en pleine nature ! Nous gardons un tres bon souvenir de notre sejour.
