Great place in the heart of Arroya
Spotlessly clean room. Really nice, friendly staff, lovely little bar area. Great location in the heart of Arroya. Few minutes walk from train station/bus stops. Plenty of shops, restaurants, launderettes, supermarkets.
Location
Clean, basic accommodation in a great location. Can be a bit noisy but perfect for a few days.
Great location, great room for the price but the walls are so thin that if someone flushes the toilet anywhere else in the hotel you hear it. I was on the top floor and could still hear staff talking during the night on the bottom floor.
The staff were very welcoming, & the room was clean & comfortable. The shower was fine…just looked a little older. The location is fab & great value. Would recommend
Excellent
This is a great place to stay in the heart of Arroya within minutes of the train station. The room we had was absolutely spotless and looked like it had been recently updated. Towels were fluffy and white and changed every day. Sheets were changed every three days and were sparkling white. Wifi was good and no charge. The bathroom was lovely and clean with a good powerful shower and plenty of hot water. Toiletries were supplied every day. The staff were all very friendly and there was someone on reception 24 hours a day. Sattelite TV was provided in the room. You can have breakfast in the bar/cafe but you are very close to several excellent cafes if you prefer to eat out.
Well maintained and beautiful property. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Beds were comfortable and room was spotless. It is located in the heart of everything and walking distance to the beach and has easy access to trains and buses. The rooms are small and it can be a little noisy in the hallways when people are coming and going, but otherwise it is a great little place to stay and perfectly priced. Would happily stay in the future. Wished they had a communial microwave and coffee maker but not essential for short stays.
Great hotel in the centre of town, excellent staff, comfortable and clean.
Great little hotel
2nd time at hotel and it did not disappoint. Friendly staff, rooms constantly cleaned and a pleasure to stay there.
Central
Another visit to Arroyo
Excellent value for money. Great location
Best for short stays. Crappy furniture.
Its a pretty basic room, with thin walls. Which is to be expected from a hostel. Theres a really uncomfortable wooden chair. Garden chairs would have been an upgrade. I was working my day job from the room and its internet connection. My work was interrupted after the wifi password expired. And I had to go to the reception and get a new one (it automaticly expires after 1 week. Nobody told me about this). That system is inconvenient. Make it expire on check out date. The bed and pillow (yes 1 flat long pillow) gave me back pain if I slept for too long. I even slept on top of the duvet. It was still painful for my back. The cleaning crew are constantly knocking on the door. And sometimes they just walk straight in, no knocking or anything. As I was working from home during the afternoon, evening and nights, I constantly had to tell them "no thank you". Please get a "do not disturb sign" It would have saved me alot of interactions.
Lovely hotel in the Old town
Stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time. Comfortable room in a central position for sightseeing. Staff were informative and helpful. Would recommend
Great little stop off
Really helpful and friendly person on check in. Great little stop off for us.
Lovely Stay.
Great 3 night experience. Room lovely and clean, staff friendly and helpful. Great price. Plenty to do close by. Will definately book again.
Perfect stay
Great hotel in last stages of modernisation clean tidy basi. Room situated in heart of town
Cleaning excellent. Friendly helpful &
Great location near train station yards from bars and restaurants couldn't fault it
Clean property.Ideal for overnight stay .
3 night stay
Friendly and welcoming staff. Nice size room with new bathroom and balcony. Clean and comfortable stay. Not sure why it’s called a hostal and to me it’s a hotel.
stayed there in November, in a 3 bed room, the shower was tiny, stayed last week in a one bedroom, and the shower was massive, but well worth the money for both.
Gem
This little hostel is a gem , handy for train and buses , right in the centre of town but easy to walk everywhere. This was second trip here
4* hostal
superb no frills hostal. Clean room and shower ,comfy bed, friendly helpful staff. What more do you need?
Escape to the sun fantastic
We stayed here for a 3 day escape it was fabulous
The staff the receptionists the cleaners were all brilliant
A must visit
Great location just down from the train station . Located to restaurants bars shops basically all you need on your doorstep.
Great location.
It is clean like new private room in city center few blocks from the train to malaga and Torremolinos .
The staff go the extra mile. This is classed as a hostal but in my view it's 4 star.
lean, quit, comfortable place to stay
I did spent the night 7-8.10.2020. I arrived to the hostel at around 00.30. The gentle man at the reception has been so kind, best regards and greetings to him. The local is clean, comfortable, and quit.
Ideal location for travel close to the train station .across from the hotel is fountain square with lovely restaurants
Excellent once again this was my 4th stay and am booked again for September. Friendly staff, excellent service and cleanliness, rooms cleaned and fresh towels daily. Deserves far more than its 2 star rating.
For the price there is nothing better in Benalmadena
Ideal one nighter
Lovely modern and clean. Ok for one night but noisy at night time. Some english speaking channels on tv. Great location to get the train (opposite street to hotel) to malaga airport. Great location for shops and restaurants.Lovely cafe opposite toast and coffee for €2.30
Great location
My booking stated a safe in the room but it was a safety box in the office, it turned out ok. The noise is awful in the morning with the sound of wheeled cases or cleaners trollies due the echo in the centre of the building. Apart from that it is great for the price, great location and all staff are very friendly
Wi -fi was terrible, rooms ars supposed to be soundproofed, no theyre not.
Excellent value and comfortable beds
This place is excellent value. Right in the heart of Arroyo five minutes walk to train station for the airport or other resorts along the coast. Bus stops nearby too. Plenty of cafes and restaurants within minutes. Room was large, quiet, great free WiFi. Continental breakfast available. All the staff helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay again if we need a place here. Thank you
Good stopovet
Clean pension that has had a makeover (at least to our room) that is very convenient to the suburban railway station at Arroyo de la Mieltthat connects to the airport.
Cheap n cheerful.
Showers far to small....
Hotel right on city centre
Hotel right on city centre, clean, in need of revival, shower too smal, nice staff.Good value for money.
Good value and great location, right in the centre and 100 yards from rail station.
Very short literally only used for shower and sleep but everything was good
Really upset by stay at Hostal Sol y Miel
My single room was like a concrete cell It was so small I could barely move around There were no drawers and only a open wardrobe with a very dirty looking canvas bag init bag in it containing a blanket The bedroom window window was made of frosted glass so you couldn’t see out which made me feel really claustrophobic and you couldn’t get any fresh air as the single rooms were internally facing into the centre of the hotel The noise from people entering the hall of the hotel carried up dreadfully to my room on the 4th floor and I got next to no sleep for the 2 nights I had there I was really upset by the experience of staying there and I will be writing to Hotels.com to claim at least a partial refund l would not recommend this hotel to anyone requiring a single room
It almost seems a shame to give a negative review as the Hotel was very clean and the staff friendly and helpful but the noise, wow. The central well acts as an echo chamber for noise from the street (to which the central well is open via a wide passage way) and anyone talking, walking or breathing in it. This went on every night well into the early hours. The other very disappointing thing for me was that there appear to be about 40% of the rooms which don't have a balcony - or even a window to the outside, just one into the is central walkway which has a sky light 5 floors up. If you want to know what the weather is like for clothes you have to go down to the ground floor and walk outside. These 2 things were enough to spoil the whole stay for me and would prevent me returning. There didn't appear to be any option on the booking site to ensure you got a room with contact to the outside world.
Great location near lots of good restaurants and a convenience store, in case you forgot something. It's a 5 minute walk from a fantastic park and a 15 minute walk from the beach. My single room was small but nice; I didn't need anything bigger. My bed was a bit firm but not bad. Most of the rooms are arranged around the inside of an atrium which can echo, but the other guests were quiet at night, so I wasn't bothered by noise. The staff were pleasant.
Don't be put off by the word hostal. The rooms are immaculate, the bed sheets and towels are changed every day. Every member of staff we met were extremely friendly and the breakfast is very good. This place is a little gem.
Receptionist was not helpful or pleasant...Top shower head in room 401 was leaking over top of shower closet..Making flood on floor Muat be repaired.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The sun terrace for breakfast every morning was a delight. The hostal was very clean, my room was cleaned every day and the sheets changed in fact i couldn't find anything negative to say about my stay at the Sol y Miel Hostal.
2 mins from the station basic but clean staff are lovely so helpful
Overnight stay
Only stayed for one night but was very impressed.this is a brilliant small hotel in a fantastic location.
All good
Nice laid back atmosphere, with pleasant staff. My room was very spacious, clean, and well equipped with nice big comfortable bed, air conditioning, balcony and excellent Wifi. Bathroom had a good shower with plenty of hot water, and towels were provided. Housekeeping arrived every day to clean the room and make the bed. The hotel is ideally located approx 100 metres from the train station, and there are plenty of cafes, restaurants, shops and banks on the doorstep. However, if you are there for the beach, then that is a twenty minute walk. Overall, great value for money and a place I will definitely use in the future.
Place is spotless it’s cleaned every day. Staff is very friendly
Good budget hotel in nice area
Hotel is in great position for getting about just a few minutes walk from the station. Staff very friendly and helpful rooms and hotel very clean simple continental breakfast sets you up for the start of the day. Rooms decent size and very clean but could do with being updated furnishings a little tired bathroom shower very small but plenty of power and lots of hot water for the price paid you will struggle to find a nicer place to stay in the area
Holiday
Hotel and staff were excellent. Would definitely go back there again. Local town brilliant with lots to do and loved that it was very Spanish. Surrounding areas just a short train or bus ride and. Excellent holiday
stay elsewhere
First of all we were overcharged on our stay. It should have been 99 euros or £88 however we were actually charged £98. When this was raised with the hotel they blamed Hotels.com but it was actually their mistake because another hotel stay that we booked on the same website a few minutes later charged us correctly in euros. We were supposed to have a room with either a balcony or a patio - what we got was an inside concrete coffin with only a door and a window which did not open and had to have the curtains closed because it was next to a corridor and gave the fishbowl effect
One thing spoiled it.
As good as the staff, location, cleanliness room and the bathroom are, the problem for us was noise. Two early mornings of shop front window removal and replacement. This was in public passage shared with hotel. Most nights, sleep delayed or disturbed by noisy guests. Super shower and toilet facilities but accompanied with super noise when in use. The rooms surrounded an open public passageway. No wild parties, no drunken revelry but in a building with such poor sound baffling there is disturbance from conversation, TV, plumbing and comings and goings. In many ways, a good place but our rating reduced from high to low for one reason only.
Weather was wet but lovely regardless! Love this place! Always lovely staff very friendly! Rooms are lovely although wouldn’t like to be above dining room again as it was a bit noisy and I’m a light sleeper nowadays. Very handy location, perfect for our needs. If you’re lucky enough to find availability, book here :) thanks Sol Y Miel
Great position in Arroya with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Within walking distance to the beach. Room was comfortable and a great bathroom. Downside no balcony or view.
We stayed for 4 nights while visiting friends .hotel is ideal close to the train station and taxi rank .very clean with lovely staff. We had a free breakfast in with the price but 9nly stayed for it once as we were busy exploring. I would definitely stay again and will probably be doing so within the next year
Sol y miel
Great location and very good value for money.
Great location, great staff, can be noisy.
Got a spacious room, very clean, shower cubicle small and curtain, not ideal. Staff are great and a lovely location. Stayed here before so asked for a quiet room as noise from outside can be intrusive. Unfortunately kept awake on 2 separate nights by 2 noisy guests sitting out on their balcony. Not a natural complainer and realise other people’s holidays too. But By 2.45 am on the 2nd night, after asking the guys to tame it down with no result and exhausted I complained to the receptionist. He was great within a few minutes the noise stopped. Wish I had got his name he was always friendly and helpful. Think we were unlucky with our neighbours. We actually checked out 1 night early. Will still consider a visit another time.
Wonderful end to our holiday
Clean rooms, comfortable beds, helpful and friendly staff. In a good location close to railway station, bars and shops. Lots of activities close by as well.
Great accommodation in the heart of Arroyo.
We really enjoyed our stay at Sol y Miel: spotlessly clean, helpful & friendly staff, free WiFi, free safety deposit at reception for passports etc, nice bar. Sol y Miel is close to the train station & has great bars, restaurants & shops nearby. Uphill walk from the beach but it's nice to walk through Parque de la Paloma on the way. Will definitely stay here again.
Pleasing surroundings
Very central to town close to railway, buses for exploring a short walk to a fabulous promenade and beach, beautiful marina with restaurants and shops.
Back again
Return visit to Arroyo and Sol y Miel. Always enjoyable
Location ood, dirty floor in room
Room floor dirty with big cracker crumbs on floor and under bed. Location great as well as staff.
Tremendous value
This was a really friendly and welcoming hotel. It was very reasonably priced and had everything we needed. It was a one night stay on our journey and we definitely visit again. The receptionist was particularly friendly and helful.
Good central location for town
For a 2 star hotel this was great. Excellent value for the price. Staff were very friendly, room was very clean. Great view from the balcony over the marble walkway. Easy access to restaurants and shops. Thank you
good stay.
no problem with anything, even my dogs liked it.
Hostal Sol Y Miel Benelmadena
Second time I have used this hostal. Located very close to the train station, it is a friendly, clean and welcoming place that is great value for money. There are lots of bars, restaurants and shops nearby.
Great location with simple comforts
This place is situated perfectly in the heart of Arroyo. Convenient for train travel, going up the mountains or down to the coast. Too many restaurants in the area to choose from and lots of shops. Rooms are always clean and serviced everyday.
Clean hotel
Very good value hotel in ideal location for access to and from airport with many local bars and restaurants
The best in Arroyo de la Miel, Benalmadena
Excellent location. Parking is a little difficult on August but you will find one. This hostal is right in the middle of the action. You will be close to the best restaurants, bakeries, a well sorted supermarket and stores.
Pleasantly surprised.
Excellent location at a reasonable price. It sits on a beautiful pedestrian promenade with shops and food surrounding it. It's about 800 yards to the beach. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, and I got lucky in finding this place.
surprisingly good. my first time here.
first class. I'll be back
Used this hostal many times over the years
Hostal has had refurbishment work, bathrooms now very modern.
Centre of Aroyo de la Miel - a very good base.
Have stayed here twice now. Very convenient. I got addicted to the continental breakfast, you'll see what I mean. Arroyo de la Miel has lots of restaurants, cafes & bars to suit all tastes. Plenty of shops, banks etc plus several large supermarkets and is generally a very nice little Spanish town, it contrasts nicely with the holiday hotel spread of Benalmadena, 10/15 mins walk down the hill to the seafront. Although this is a basic hotel (yes hotel - not a hostel as we know hostels) it has all I need when visiting the area for a few days. Location is excellent and the train station is 3 mins walk away - Malaga Airport in under 15 mins for a couple of quid each way. A few stops past the airport is the end of the line - Malaga Town itself, often overlooked by us Brits passing through the airport, it's a great town with a lot to see and do.
Nice hotel close to all amenities
We had a great holiday. I'ts close to all the shops, bars and restaurants. It's not far from the railway station and the taxi rank so needing to go that bit further than a walk there is the bonus of handy travel facilities.
Wi-fi kept cutting out after five minutes, advertised as a hostal, but nowhere to make a cup of tea coffee.
Great weekend getaway.
Great for a short stay, brilliant area only 5 minutes from Arroyo train station. Many shops, restaurants in the area which are mostly Spanish. Bonanza Square is about 15 minutes walk down hill which is British bars, and Paloma Park a further 10 minutes down hill. We mainly walk down and get a bus of taxi back, taxis costing 6 euro from 24 hours Square.
Great little place
Great place to stay. Location is very near to train station and buses, so very easy to get out and about. 20 minute walk to the beach but we weren't troubled by that. We had a room at the back on the 4th floor. Very quiet. High enough to oversee adjacent buildings and so allowed views of the mountains on one side with just a glimpse of the sea on the other. The room was basic but spacious. Good size bed. Towels weren't great quality but were plentiful and were changed every day - didn't expect that. Shower was adequate but a bit tight. Any sudden movement against the controls and you instantly knew about it! Staff were excellent, welcoming and helpful. Nothing was a bother. Breakfast was simple but basic but we knew that before we went so weren't disappointed. Would I go back? No question I would.
Stayed here in 2016 and the front desk team remembered us. Good value hotel without frills in an excellent location for cafes, bars and restaurants.
Value for money
Excellent budget hotel giving great value for money. Located in the town centre, the hotel is very clean and staff are friendly and helpful.
More hotel than histel.
Stayed for five nights. Had a room on the first floor which was large and very clean. Bathroom was good with plenty of towels and toiletries provided. Tv was ok but no English speaking channels. The wifi was very good so i was able to watch UK channels on my tablet. Nice balcony to sit out on. Staff are efficent and friendly. Great location. I would recommend taking earplugs as area can be nousy at night.Would stay again. Don't be put off by it being called a hostal. I have stayed in much wirse hotels and been charged a lit more.
Perfectly cheap
My stay at the Sol y Miel was peaceful and comfortable. The hostal is ideally situated in Arroyo De la Miel for ease of shopping, good food and using the trains.
Perfect for a late arrival
Arrived about 2030 and was checked immediately by a very pleasant young man. Wireless code given. Room was spacious and spotless, and had everything needed for a short stay. TV with remote, plenty of sockets, powerful shower with very hot water. The double bed was comfortable, but the room was cold, (very chilly outside) and I did notice the air conditioning the following morning so probably could have warmed it up. Breakfast was orange juice, coffee and a toasted roll served with a selection of jams and pates.
Convenient and clean hotel for town centre
The room was too noisy at night, but we had just driven 800 miles and that might have coloured our view. Would have liked free parking, we paid 16 euros and a more expensive hotel may have had a car park for free.
Price and location
Improvement work being carried out but the staff coped extremely well and it is all good for the future at this great hostal
Nice small hotel rather than a hostel.
We were checked in to hotel very quickly and politely. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast consisted of tea or coffee, fruit juice and toast and spreads and was quite adequate for us. I would advise asking for a room with a balcony at the back of the hotel. The room we were given was recently upgraded but did not have a balcony. We asked to be moved and this was done as soon as one with a balcony became available. This was a family room with plenty of space.
A lovely hostel!
This is a hostel in Arroya, Benalmadena, very well placed centrally for shops, bars etc. It is very clean and modern with a lovely courtyard area to have drinks or breakfast. The only thing we found difficult was finding access to it on the satnav, you have to go round the block to find somewhere to park. Apart from that, a lovely stay, we will stay here again.
Fall in love with Arroyo de la Miel
There are no hotels in Arroyo de la Miel so if you want to leave the airport, catch a train (3 an hour), and stay centrally (3 minutes walk from train station), this delightful Spanish town with its two hostels is the place to come! It is a town between the village of Benalmadena pueblo and the beaches on Benalmadena costa.
Don't expect to find quietness in Spain!
We've stayed here many times. The staff are friendly and helpful. The noise levels do not, however, improve. The building design does not lend itself to quietness, especially if there is a party of 40 Danish students also staying at the same time. However, it is a Hostel, not a 5-star hotel, so one must allow for this. I am sure we will stay again sometime, although the inside bedroom was a bit dark & gloomy.
Simply Fantastic.
From Booking In, it is Home from Home. What more can anyone want.Friendly Staff and so willing to Help Excellent Breakfast.
A perfect stay
A weeks holidays was perfect ,very good for railway station to visit near by resorts.would definitely come back. Reception was excellent.
Great hotel near the train station
We have stayed before but had a double room at the back- this time we paid a bit more and had a triple room at the front, with a balcony overlooking the street which was lovely. we enjoyed breakfast on the patio next to the cafe/bar which was good value for the money. We will definately stay again!
Really good location for town, restaurants shops
Room was ready early, quiet location excellent booking online and check in
My summer holiday July 2015
Great value for money. I stayed for seven days and was comfortable throughout my stay. The hostel is a good base for your holiday. The hostel has no pool but does have a little patio outside to read, talk. There is also a bar. Continental breakfast available foo around 3€. The town of Arroyo De La Miel is a little gem ten minutes away from the coast on the bus or train. 1.50€ -1.60€. All said I'd book again . Enjoy your visit.
