My partner and I chose to stay here for our 10 year anniversary. We booked and paid online before our stay. When we were at the check-in desk, the front desk agent serving us asked us to pay for our stay. I let her know we already paid and showed her. Afterwards we provided a credit card for in room charges during our stay, etc. She then said "okay and may I charge your room to this card too", I advised again that we had already paid and showed her the payment for a second time. It was incredibly rude and off putting to have this happen during check-in when we just arrived and was planning a nice stay for our anniversary.

We travel regularly all around the world. All 5 star accommodations and I had not come across such terrible check in system where you have to queue up like a bus stop even after online check in re which they send several texts etc. The arrogance of the staff when I complained was out of line. Remember you are in service industry. I put up with silly ‘ Bonjours’ of these hotel chains but NOT providing complimentary water at all is also extremely offensive. NEVER staying here again!

The hotel location is fabulous and is next to ICC and within walking distance to many attractions like Sea Life, Wild Life, Sydney Towle Eye, Queen Victoria Building, etc. Our room is west facing, we were lucky enough to watch the stunning sunset a couple of times in good weather. We will be back again next time. Highly recommended!!

For the price paid it certainly was not value for money.The coffee machine and the kettle had to be taken off the beverages chest of draws and carried over to the bathroom to access an electrical socket as there were none where the chest was.The so called refrigerator was just as good as a storage cupboard as it did not cool at all.There was no complementary bottled water, and when requesting room service for ice it took three seperate repeat phone calls to get a result. So all in all we were very disappointed with our stay.

Nice, new hotel in Darling Harbour with nice facilities

I really like that we celebrated our engagement and they provided us a bottle of champagne and some mini desserts along with a card when we entered the room. They also offered us a high level with stunning private views of the Sydney harbour- the place was beautiful, cozy and luxurious at the same time. Only feedback would be wished they provide a couple free bottle of water.

The property is beautiful and staff and everything is wonderful but the construction is loud and an eye sore. Def not worth the price for those reason. Construction starts at 7am.

Staff were awful, arrogant and unhelpful. Room was overpriced, not as advertised, then charged twice. Room was old. Amenities not on par for a 4-5 star hotel. No access to a spa or sauna unless you pay to use the “Wellbeing Centre”.

Stayed at Sofitel Darling Harbour a few times now and it never disappoints.

Great rooms but reception service was a let down

The room was comfortable and clean. Door staff were friendly and proactive. Somehow the reception staff was a complete let down. Slow, understaffed and made errors. Check-out was made simple as I was told I can simply return the keys and any additional charges would be charged directly to my card. That somehow resulted in me being double-charged for the room. That is despite it being confirmed at check-in that I’ve already paid. When I came to pick up my suitcase I had to queue up for 25mins to speak to someone about this issue at reception. This was at 3pm which is their standard check-in time and the hotel had only 2 staff manning the reception desks. The queue had about 4 groups before me when I started queuing up. By the time it was my turn, there were about 6-7 groups after me also getting frustrated by the long wait. The service is shocking for a hotel that claims to have 590 rooms. Hopefully it’s something they’ll improve. In terms of my refund, they said it’ll take up to 7 days to process and the staff didn’t offer much more than an explanation that someone made an error and didn’t acknowledge that it was an inconvenience to us.

Perfectly located for easy access to most facilities

The room service was excellent. I stay in Hotels often and I was very impressed with the quality of food.The bed was extremely comfortable as are the pillows. It's one of my favorite Hotels to stay in worldwide.

Perfect location close to shops, dining and transportation. Services need to be improved . No room service unless requested. Even requested, long wait, 3 -4 hours. Back to hotel 5pm after a long walk, still messy bed and wet towels, requested room service at reception while having a drink in lobby, back to room in two hours times, still not done, the staffs coming over an hour more later while we’re falling sleeping. While a local friend driving over to pick us up, it’s a short stop and she park in a safe spot, the staff told her to park somewhere else with no clear instructions, then another staff told her to drive back while she can reverse to his indicated spot! So frustrated!

When we arrived Phillip helped us with getting the room, luggage or anything we needed. Very friendly staff. Headed back in a couple weeks.

The 5 star rating is only for the view and the name Sofitel itself. Other than that, i would rate 2 to 3 stars. Firstly, staffs do not know about their facilities and room setting. They told me every room will have a bath tub before i booked but unfortunately this is not the case when checked in. I spent 30mins to resolve this matter. Therefore, checking in experience isnt that great. Secondly, no complementary water available but advise us to drink tap water. Didnt they read the news that sydney water is polluted and carcinogenic?

Great experience - as expected, the room was in fantastic condition, service was good and the views from the hotel room was worth the money!

The lack of amenities and the very almost non-existent minibar for a hotel of that standard was not good.

Although we had a nice stay, room was ok bit expensive when compared to other hotels in the area. Pool area looked tired, I could see renovation is in progress, but customers should be notified. Ladies toilet out of action, with a sign saying use disabled, but that was locked, so had to walk around to the Spa facilities, also no bar staff at Pool, yet the pool area was full. Cafe in Reception cakes were dry and my husband ordered a meat and cheese roll which was dry and hard to eat. Great location though, convenient for light rail and ICC.

Wonderful stay

The location is excellent, right on the waterfront in Darling Harbour and with a light rail stop almost outside the door to get you into Haymarket (and from there up into the CBD). Access to The Star and the Lyric Theatre is via a short walk (5–10 min) or the light rail. Walking is a little confusing at the moment due to construction next door, but you can go via the Novotel car park (cross over at the light rail stop, go up to level 4 of the car park, then walk out onto Murray St). The soundproofing in the rooms seemed excellent. We didn't get too much noise from outside and didn't hear other rooms at all. The room was comfortable, modern, and clean. The only issues we had were 1) the bathroom lighting is pretty poor for shaving and makeup (then again, most hotel bathroom lighting is), and 2) the new electronic (phone app) room keys didn't work at first. They eventually did work, using a completely different app (odd), though they were pretty slow to activate. Hopefully, they'll fix the teething issues soon because it is very convenient to be able to access the room using my phone and not a physical key.

The check in experience was average- didn't tell us what time to check out, where to park, how to get our car etc. The valet parking staff were very friendly. The room was large and very nice. The bed was horrible to sleep on- the mattress was very poor. You do get to order a pillow of your choice from a menu which is a great service. The pool has excellent views.

The room they say sleeps 3 with harbour views is very small. Cannot climatise in the room. Air con was either too cold on 19 degrees and very warm on 21 - 22 degrees. Valet parking was way too rich at $89 per night, to park your car across the road in a normal car parking station.Finished room service was not collect until the next afternoon. Very disappointed. Expected much more

The Sofitel is a lovely property, very clean, friendly and helpful staff, good size rooms, great bathrooms and good location with plenty of dinning options around as well as good restaurant in house. We'd highly recommend this property and even stay again.

We absolutely loved staying here. Arrived much earlier before our check in time. We were grateful our room was ready. Checking in and out was a breeze. Every one so friendly and accommodating. Our room was spectacular, inviting and very comfortable. The infinity pool was a bonus and the view in the evening overlooking the city while swimming was a step above. We would love to stay here again God willing. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Husband and I really enjoyed our stay. Sofitel is our favourite spot as it is where we had our Honeymoon 5 years ago and where we plan to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The only issue we had this trip was that we had to wait for over an hour past normal check in time (after 4pm) for the room to be ready, and even then I had to try and approach multiple staff member before we were told that the room was actually ready. We were pretty disappointed by this as we only had the one childless night before having to return home and to have to spend over an hour of it sitting in the lobby was not ideal.

The area was good and the room was spotless.However after we checked in before the 3pm we had to wait half an hour to get our keys.This shouldn’t be the case as we already checked in!

Great hotel with great ammenities. Check in was underwhelming with no acknowledgement of Accor membership. Check in staff provided me with one room key only. Expected a higher level of service at check in for a hotel of this standard. Glad I didn’t pay the normal full standard rate

Check in was a little slow with a lineup of about 20 guests. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

We found the bed and pillows to be great. Room size ok. Breakfast way too expensive $52pp. Valet parking $89 p/n. It was a Saturday to Sunday stay so no construction noise with the darling harbour being built in front. Reception staff friendly. Room service nice enough without being great. Overall I would say there are better options for the price.

Check in was good, we were given a high level room at L34. Swimming pool was well maintained. Breakfast was standard, only one scrambled egg choice but we ordered fried eggs.

Love staying at the Sofitel Darling Harbour. My wife and I’s most favourite hotel to stay at in Sydney. The service is amazing, easy parking and such a convenient location within walking distance of many restaurants/cafes and Sydney CBD. We look forward to our next stay.

For the price you’re paying I would look elsewhere, self check in was down so it took 45 minutes to check in as there were only 2 staff members serving (on a long weekend) had to wait 20 minutes for an elevator constantly and my breakfast would’ve never came if I hadn’t called an hour later. It is a clean hotel and great in terms of location but service not the best. A lot of the amenities in the room were also missing and had to place calls for alot of things (took 45 minutes ).

Beautiful hotel & facilities. Service in Club Millesime was exceptional. Close walk to Chinatown & Chinese garden and plenty of tasty food options nearby.

A super super hotel. Great hotel and a great location. This hotel really caters for tourists and families. The location beside the water is great and it's an easy 20 mins stride into the main city and only a further 5 mins to the bridge and opera house. I shall book this same hotel again next year. I have already recommended it to others.

Good location to stay at if you need to get to the convention centre but, kind of out of the way for anything else. At first, The staff wouldn't honour the free breakfast each morning despite me showing the email confirmation that says i had breakfast included of which is why I booked the accommodation via wotif.

Lovely clean and new hotel in a great quiet location at Darling harbour. Everything you need is available, and the buffet breakfast is fabulous, with lovely hot barista made coffee. Would stay again.
