They allow SMOKING in this property. We have asked for non smoking rooms and when we went to our room, it was smelling smoke. We went back to talk to the receptionist and we saw someone smoking in the corridor. They have ask trays by the elevator door. We went to complain but they said nothing they can do. Do not stay here if you want a smoke free place

This hotel is a pretty old one. If you’re coming after their signature mattress then you will be very disappointed at this one. I think it worths this price tho because the staffs are always friendly and nice.

It is fairly well managed and it is value for money.

Room is uncomfortably hot, but club lounge is nice

We stayed at the Sofitel for a quick weekend getaway from Shanghai. Overall the hotel is nice, the staff is very polite and there are a lot of staff that speak very good English. We really enjoyed the club level, the afternoon tea, happy hour and breakfast was all very nice with great service. We also liked the buffet dinner, it is a little odd, hot pot, sushi, french food, but it was pretty good. Sushi and hot pot and desert were all very good, some of the other dishes were lacking I thought. While we enjoyed the hotel amenities, our room was so uncomfortable. It was 20 degrees outside, yet our room never got cooler than 24 with the AC running non stop. It was so hot! We had maintenance come shortly after checking in, then again later when it was just too hot to sleep. Finally someone told us that we actually cannot control the AC in our room. And that other guests were cold so they had to adjust it to make it warmer. We got a portable AC that worked for an hour and at 11pm we gave up on trying to be comfortable. It was miserable to sleep in such a hot room. Also the sink leaked and the room was dated and tired, really needs a proper update. While service is good in the club lounge, when dealing with this issue we got very little actual help. If you do stay here maybe request a lower floor where it might be cooler so you can actually get some sleep. And if it is hot in your room when you check in, ask to switch rooms then.

Everything was perfect only one things wasn't that good ,that is the room temperature ! Guest can not control the air so the room temperature was always 25 Celsius what was hot when is outside is 31 celsius!

Hotel was acceptably clean. Breakfast was really good on the executive lounge. Air conditioning was outdated and broken so it was really warm all the time.

Walking distance to food street

The hotel is very close to a local food street which is pretty good. But the room cleanliness need to be improved, I saw mold on the mirror and other glasses surfaces like the wardrobe..... maybe the hotel needs a renovation.

Excellent hotel, a few bus stops from center.

Great hotel, very comfortable. Everything was clean and nice. 2 English movie channels. This is an incredible hotel for the price. The location probably will eventually be perfect, but for now there is a lot of construction. From my room I didn’t hear any construction noise, though. The location is very close to nice areas but it’s not IN the nice areas. Maybe 3 or 4 bus stops away. Not a problem, really. The area of the hotel isn’t bad at all, just probably not where tourists would be visiting. I recommend the bus instead of the metro. On iPhone, the maps app in China is in english and does public transit.

A very good hotel choice for Nanjing

The Sofitel Nanjing Galaxy delivers the services expected within the limitations of its location. The vast majority of the customers are PRC Chinese, so the management understandably skews services and tastes in their direction. For example, the European foods I expect at a Sofitel are available at the lunch and dinner buffets, but are located out of direct sight. The delicious fresh baked breads and butter are set off in a far corner of the room. Coffee is available, but I found the pot was often empty and the taste was not so good. The gym and pool are very nice. Our room was clean and kept clean daily. The choice of guest room carpet was not good. A previous guest had dropped a waxy substance on the carpet, which left disgusting black spots around the minibar area. Note to management: Choose floor coverings that can be cleaned despite guests' thoughtlessness. The English of the staff was serviceable, and the staff was very courteous and helpful, kindly handing me off to another member of the staff if they couldn't understand my English.

The hotel is in the centre of town, close to everything. The staff went out of their way to help us.

I am pleased with the services provided by the hotel. I arrived around 9am, and the room was ready for me to check in. However, the room type was not what I have requested, the receptionist did a quick check and told me that the room will be ready in half an hour. She offered me to the lounge for light refreshment while waiting the room to be ready.

Labour Day Getaway in Nanjing

Got a room at 41st floor and had a fantastic view of the city and a lake that was nearby. Room is very clean and comfortable, great service. The only downside was that the road leading to the hotel from the metro station was under construction for a new metro line, and the 15min walk to the hotel was quite a challenge. But, there will be a new metro station just next to the hotel soon! Was a great stay!!

Excellent!!!

I've stayed here many times, but the new renovations really make it an excellent hotel to stay at in Nanjing. The neighborhood is growing, so there is construction outside right now (April 2016), but the conveniences are worth it. This is a much more Chinese neighborhood than the Xinjiekou and university area where more foreigners are found. I have stayed here about 6 times, and love it!!

Good stay

overall quite good except the air-con. Although it was spring, no need to turn on air-con. However the room was quite hot, so we turned the heating off. The windows couldn't open so the airflow was bad. The toilet got smoking smell, probably from the neighbors (we were on the non smoking floor)

Sofitel Galaxy Nanjing

Great location, professional staff, clean & modern & comfortable room. Lots of restaurants and shops around the hotel. Starbucks right next door was a plus. A short walk to "Lion Bridge" area where you will find lots of local restaurants and shops. I was given a room on the 40th floor with a nice view of the lake near by. Elevator was super quick, which is often overlooked. I took cab everywhere (cabs are cheap in Nanjing), but would have loved to be closer to subway stations. Overall a good experience. Will stay here again when I return.

Close to middle of the city

We book and stay this hotel for 22 nights. We ask for the NON SMOKING room and we got it really has no any smell of the tobacco. This hotel require the guest to insert their room card key in the elevator to activate the floor button, without it the elevator never move. This is very nice security feature.

A Very Pleasant Stay

This hotel is in a convenient location - only a 20 minute taxi ride to the major sightseeing attractions in Nanjing. The concierges will ring for taxis and they arrived outside the lobby very quickly. There's a Starbucks next door and many shops, cafes and restaurants in Hunan Road nearby. There's an international food shop in Hunan Road that sells foreign foods as well. In the same road was a great bookshop where I bought English novels very cheaply. On arrival, the hotel staff were very friendly and efficient. Many spoke good English (if that is your main language). Even though I arrived on the eve of a Chinese public holiday, the check in only took 10 minutes. The room was very spacious, modern, and clean. The queen bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was very large with a great shower and a big bath. The air conditioning worked very well. The room had a sofa, work desk, big screen TV, well-stocked mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, ironing board, iron and umbrella. I had a buffet breakfast every morning at the hotel. The omelets, pastries, and fruit were delicious. I also ate in the restaurants at night - both Chinese and Italian and I thought the meals were great, even though I am fastidious with food. I also used the gym and the pool. The staff were extremely helpful advising me of which days to visits museums to avoid congestion; they rang to see if the art gallery was actually open, and they helped me plan a route on a map. I would stay here again.

Dirty pillows on the bed. Coffee was served almost cold and breakfast was no better. Avoid this hotel and an embarrassment to the Sofitel brand.

Great retreat after a day of work or sightseeing

Clean spacious accommodation with friendly staff. Located in shopping area, everything is accessible by taxi. Room pricing is reasonable and a great value. Breakfast buffet is ample with American/English, Japanese, Chinese and Continental selections. There is something for everyone. Room for improvement in bar prices, selection, and service. Spa currently closed, but exercise room and pool are open.

Everything was perfect. Great rooms, great views, clean. Close to Food Street and in walking distance from the metro. All good. My only annoyance was with the elevators. A sophisticated card system just does not work well. I went on many top-to-bottom rides on the elevator until the system recognized my card and floor. Fun at first, annoying after a while. Still, a most wonderful hotel!

Beautiful hotel. Appreciate the wifi

The hotel is beautiful and modern. Fitness room and pool were exceptional. The regular staff and concierge were polite and helpful. They helped us get train tickets to Bejing, door example. The bell staff were rude on multiple occasions and their desk was positioned right near the entrance so they were frequently asked for help in error. Overall, a good experience!

5 stars hotel room with nice bathroom. Location is quite dusty and dirty. Surrounded by restaurants and average shopping malls. Moreover Nanjing is not a good place for shopping. This hotel will be idea for business or relaxation stay. will come back and stay again. The price is worth.

Based on the above questions i am very satisfied with the hotel. in addition, my choice of selecting the hotel was also due to its convenient location. However,for those who are using wifi may feel very disappointed as i had encoutered frustrating time trying to get my electronic devices connected. The hotel toilet should have a door instead of providing just a transparent door curtain. Is quite embarrassing if u do have guests in the room

overall a nice stay

Very convenient location with a nice panorama view of Nanjing. The room and bathroom were quite spacious. The only I would point out was the aircon - the room gets uncomfortably hot with the aircon (on cooling setting) on, so we had to swift it off all the time.

Sofitel NanJing

Location is excellent with lots of restaurant and local food, shops and banks around. Room is not as ideal as a typical five star good grade as compare to Macau and Singapore. Service is not as initiative. Wi Fi not in room instead only available in the lobby. Overall not as bad

Staff are professional.

Check-in was smooth and fast. Kevin, the manager came to greet and welcome us. He introduced some places and give us some advices for us. we are a family of four, two children. He really made our trip a wonderful and enjoyable one. Subway is about 15 mins walk. Carpet has cigarette stains.

Great service, lovely hotel and fantastic location

The staff was super friendly and they brought whatever I needed instantly and they never said no to me once. Unfortunately the spa area was in renovation and I didn't get to enjoy it. The hotel is located within a short walking distance to the "Bu Xing Jie", which is a beautiful area with shops and restaurants where no cars or bikes are allowed, and it's just great to be able to walk out and have fun any time. The hotel has also got a mixture of modern and ancient which I love, tasteful artworks.

Convenient location, excellent hotel.

The hotel is excellent. Even though it was under innovation when I was there, the staff handled everything very efficiently and was very helpfui. The room was comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very good, and compared well with those in other five-star hotels in China. In short, I would be happy to go back to it next time I visit Nanjing.

Good value hotel in central Nanjing

This is a nice hotel in a good location in Nanjing. My original room on the south sunny side was too hot at 26 degrees, so had to move to a north-facing room that was more pleasant at 22 degrees - otherwise a good valud for money hotel.

Cold attitude from some receptionists. The service didn't meet 5-star standard and my expectation.

Very nice hotel. The only bad thing was the toilet. They had to plunge it twice a day. Management and staff were very friendly and helpful. If they fix the plumbing it would be perfect.

I have stayed at this hotel many times before, and always been pleased. The Hotel is under renovation and should not have been kept open during remodeling. It was a really bad experience.

Stay away from this hotel

This was the worst Sofitel I ever stayed in. And the worst 5-star hotel I stayed in China (of over 20 5-star hotels). The hotel is under serious renovation, but this was not announced on the Expedia site. One has to take two elevators to get to one's room. The reception desk is on 46th floor. There is, believe it or not, no bar in the hotel. There are no bell-boys at 8 p.m. to take luggage from the taxi, only chattering women standing around. At the reception desk on the 46th floor, the women in charge are polite but absolutely ignorant and incompetent. None are from Nanjing and know nothing about the city. That the famous Yangze bridge is a double-decker is news to them. They are unfamiliar with distances to Purple mountain and have never heard of Sun Yat-sen and his famous mausoleum there. Kind sweet ignorant girls undoubtedly paid minimum wages. The hotel manager is the rudest person I have encountered in any hotel in China in some 30 trips in any kind of hotel category. Again, cutting corners. Disappointing, all round.

Great view from room

The hotel staff was very kind and room was clean and nice decor for the price who is planning travel to Nanjing...I would hilghly recommend for who want to travel to there;however it's not convinent to subway...talk 10 minute by walk.

Beautiful hotel

The hotel is beautiful. All that you'd expect from a Sofitel. It's a bit far from the major "things to see in Nanjing" and a long walk from the metro. It's an easy cab ride but cab drivers don't really like to stop for Westerners!

A nice stay

Excellent room on the 32nd floor, but we can still hear the construction noise at the bottom of the hotel. I guess this is why they lower the price.

The doormen were excellent at sorting out getting the taxis and making sure that they knew where we were going.

The staff members were extra pleasant. The room was clean, bathroom huge, room a little small because of the 2 single beds, I think. The restaurant was great, both the buffet and the a la carte menu.

Nice play to stay in Nanjing

Very impressed with the hotel, I had a couple of issues which were not unexpected with the heating, but overall the hotel was clean, staff was friendly and it was situated fairly close to Hunan street which has a lot of restaurants. It is a little bit of a walk to the subway but taxis are fairly cheap so it is not an issue

Fine, but not up to chain standards

Hotel is fine and good value for the money. If you are expecting a hotel that meets Sofitel standards in other parts of the world, however, you will be disappointed. The staff are accommodating and friendly but seem poorly trained. The service was uneven, flowers on the pillow and turn down service one night and nothing the next for example. Location is great.

Everything was 1st class. Really no knowledge of Nanjing geography, thus only #4 listing in yr. query form was because other locations better? Employees fr. Asst. Mgr. _____?______ I met to house-keeper of room were excellent in attitude & performance. Strongly recommend location-& chain although only experience in China. Oops, stayed @ Sofitel Hyland in Shanghai in '06 also.

Déçu par le personnel

Le club des chambres executives est de bonne qualité, mais le personnel parlant peu anglais nous a mal renseigné et à tenté de nous facturer un nettoyage de vêtements qui nous avait été présenté comme offert. Cet incident à été traité par le personnel avec beaucoup d'insitence voire de malhonnêteté, la personne faisant semblant de ne pas comprendre le problème pendant de longues minutes, ce comportement a suffit à gâcher le sentiment global du séjour.

La ubicación del hotel es muy buena porque está bastante céntrico. Ideal para salir a correr por el parque del lago Xuanwu que está a unos 800 metros del hotel. El desayuno muy completo y el servicio fantástico. Pero las habitaciones están un poco anticuadas y la wifi no funciona bien. Con la vpn no podía conectarme desde el hotel durante el día aunque no tenía ningún problema en cualquier cafetería con wifi. Por la noche tarde si podía conectarme aunque seguía con problemas. Es algo que no me ha pasado en otros hoteles.
