Convenient location next to train station. Check in and out took too long.
This was a family trip, 2 adults and one child as per the booking details. I specifically upgraded to a junior suite due to having a sofa bed to accommodate the three of us. The sofa bed was not made up when we arrived and there was no bedding for it, I tried to call repeatedly to the front office with no response so l went down to request this. The main bedroom area comprised of two single beds pushed together, however these beds were not attached and even putting an arm in the centre when sleeping would result in the beds parting and falling down the middle. This is just a brief example of basic, fundamentals that were missing. We also ordered room service for our daughter, the food was clearly already prepared as they were unable to accommodate any adjustments to the pasta, the quality of the food was terrible. It was basic pasta done very poorly with the sauce dried up. I could expand but feel this gives more flavour than the pasta to explain the rating.
Excellent breakfast, cleanliness, in - room dining options! All up to a very good standard! Excellent! Really pleased with everything!
Excellent hotel and facilities. Really enjoyed our stay.
disapointed
I do not like when kids are not treated as paying customers. We pay for 3 - 2 adults and a kid - we should get 3 towels not 2 and kids should be able to use the pool the same as adults. This is not an exclusive adult hotel.
During my stay at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost, I experienced a very disturbing situation that does not reflect the standards of a five-star hotel. In the morning, while I was in my room, the building’s alarm suddenly went off and continued for a long time with no explanation or action from the hotel staff. The noise was extremely loud and disruptive, and it completely ruined my work schedule, as I had tasks and meetings today. Unfortunately, no one from the hotel offered an apology or clarification. There was no communication or effort made to manage the situation. Based on this, I request financial compensation and a full refund of the booking amount, as the level of service I received was unacceptable and showed no regard for guest comfort or professionalism.
Spa facility was also great
Very dirty place, we paid for the breakfast, but the selection was very poor, we asked for coffee about 10 times, had to ask again and again because they didn’t bring it, staff not helpful, I don’t recommend it to anyone! Even a motel in a small village is cleaner and has 100 times better breakfast offer, room was smelly and dirty, there were long hairs everywhere, like in a hair salon. AVOID THEM!!
It was nice place to say
Who doesn't LOVE macarons??
Beautiful hotel, 2-minute walk to Munich Hbf. There was a bit of construction down the street, but it didn't impact my stay at all. The rooms were modern and quiet, the inside of the hotel was quite nice and refined. Check-in was easy, and there were free macarons, who doesn't love macarons???
Team was very accommodating.
The Sofitel Munich Bayerpost is a nice hotel and I enjoyed my stay there, but it falls short of being a 5-star place. The location is great, right next to the train station (S-bahn) and walkable to Old Town in the centre of Munich. The staff was very helpful and friendly and gave me a room upgrade (my first room was in the cold, far corner of the building). The Spa is wonderful. Great sauna and steam room. The breakfast buffet was excellent, but didn't change much from day to day. What made it less than a five star was the quality of the room. Furniture was older and the carpet was very stained. The amenities were sparse. And the lobby design was lacking. A five star hotel should have large, inviting seating areas where you can relax and meet friends. The lobby here was all over the place and not warm at all. I would consider staying here again if they modernize their rooms. 7/10.
We got unexpectedly lucky with this gem. Great helpful staff, clean comfortable amenities. Highly recommend the duplex for the views. Very convenient to the train for anyone traveling on.
Staff were exceptional. The prices in the lounge bar were abnormally high
Property is tired, but in a good location
We were a little disappointed with our check in experience, and the hotel seemed a little tired. However majority of the staff were eager to help and beds are comfortable. Room service staff exceptional, especially at breakfast.
Good
We love staying in this place! We went during Christmas season so the hotel was nicely decorated, it made us feel just like home. Breakfast was delicious, however the lady making the omelets that morning needs to take a customer service class or just stay in the back. We had dinner in the hotels restaurant (DÉLICE La Brasserie) and all the waiters were so attentive and polite. Our room was comfortable and spacious, however it needed a little makeover, some of the cabinets in the bathroom were broken.
Nice location near many things. Just a quick walk from the main train station. Wish there was a clock in the room. Wish the king bed I requested was an actual king bed, not 2 twins pushed together. Staff was very pleasant.
Great location for arranging day trips from Munich via train.
Staff is helpful , manager on duty was really sweet and recommended very good dining option. Spa services are really good.
Fancy Hotel for good price
Hotel was pristine and in a good location to Munich. Parking was limited so we had to park in a close garage for $40 a day. Some of the buffets were pricey, but food and options were good.
Very poor service.
The Sofitel Munich is an impressive hotel in a historic building, offering a wonderful experience overall. The room was superb, combining comfort and elegance. The Isa Bar in the hotel is a true highlight—cozy, welcoming, and with a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout my stay. However, the restaurant was a disappointment. While the food was good, the ambiance was underwhelming—uninspired décor and a noisy environment that didn’t match the hotel’s five-star status. It’s also surprising that such a grand hotel has only one restaurant, and one that lacks the class and sophistication you’d expect. With some improvements to the dining area, or the creation of a second restaurant, this hotel could truly be perfect.
Walking distance to the Center and train station
Great hotel, great staff, within walking distance from basically everything important in Munich! It’s right next to the main train station, separated by hotel’s courtyard. The immediate area surrounding the hotel is not the greatest due to the proximity to the central station, however, it’s very safe and secure. Staff are excellent and in any imaginable way professional. House keeping was hit and miss and inconsistent depending on who’s shift it was… Some days we returned to a room with replenished toiletries and coffee/tea, fresh towels, chocolates on nightstands, water bottles, etc., and some days only beds were made and used towels were collected -nothing else done.
Do not stay here. Area around train station is under huge construction and access is unsafe with lots of men hanging around. Dark and no lighting and no easy access from train station to hotel - all blocked by construction. The hotel itself is dated, dingy and dark and in need of a huge upgrade. The “junior suite” was like a bad motel room with low ceiling and weird bathroom and looked right out onto the train tracks so had to keep curtains pulled all day. Worst hotel I have stayed in in a long time - ridiculously expensive too: yuck.
No HVAC
The hvac system in my room failed. My room was super hot. I complained and nothing came of it.
Razoavel
Regiao do hotel mal frequentada..não me hospedaria novamente
Optional breakfast that was good value and convenient, onsite parking available.
Loved the hotel overall, no complaints. The only strange thing we encountered was the way the bedding was made. very odd as the undersheet only covered about 2/3 of the bed. The bed cover also covered only 2/3 of the bed. The sheets were also angled. No idea if that was the intent, but certainly not right.
The actual bar in the hotel is terrible. You cannot sit at the bar without your knees being jammed into the bar. Very poor design and we had to sit at the chairs below. We also saw many people experiencing he same discomfort.
Loved it here!
Comfortable beds and nice bar
Excellent service I’m very happy with this place
Absolutely loved the spa and the options the breakfast buffet had to offer
Liked the sauna Air conditioning broke/made a high pitch whistling noise when in the room. Lost a lot of time waiting for maintenance. When it broke again at night, was promised a room upgrade as comp for lost time and inconvenience but room turned out to be of lower quality. Gave up frustrated -- not a pleasant experience. If you want me back, you'd have to offer something
Highly recommended
Excellent service throughout! Whenever we needed something, it was immediately taken care of. A big shout out to Dogukan for being very helpful and made our experience beyond amazing
We stayed for 6 nights and it was one of the best hotels ever - beautiful property, great staff, and Top Bar!
Convenient for the train station. Lot of building work going on nearby.
Comfortable room
We stay in Room 623 for 5 nights. It’s a room with view of sky (since it’s right below the attic) with a nice bathroom and heated bathroom flooring. The hotel is just located next to Central Munich train station and within walking distance to shopping district, sights and restaurants. Staff from reception, concierge, housekeeping to restaurant at the hotel are all very professional and helpful. Breakfast box (a huge bag x2) was arranged for us on departure as we had to catch a morning flight out. Would strongly recommend.
Amazing stay at Sofitel. The staff was exceptional. The location was fantastic. The spa was great. A little crowded, but it’s very nice.
Disappointing Service at a Trusted Favorite
We have always chosen Sofitel Munich for our stays in the city, as it has been a trusted part of our travel experience. However, during our most recent visit, we encountered two unfortunate incidents that were quite unexpected. The first incident happened when my sister and I ordered food through Uber Eats. I realized I hadn’t included ketchup with our order, so I asked the receptionist for some. He kindly said room service would bring it up without mentioning any cost. However, no one arrived while we ate. About 30 minutes later, someone knocked persistently on my sister’s door. When my sister responded, the staff member handed her the ketchup with a brusque demeanor and demanded five euros. My sister, surprised, explained that the food was already finished and questioned the charge. I immediately went to the reception to explain what happened, and the receptionist who initially assisted me was shocked and apologized, saying the charge would be removed from our bill. The second incident occurred at check-out. I attempted to reach the reception for over 10 minutes, and when someone finally answered, they hung up immediately. This felt dismissive, and I went down to address it in person. Again, the staff member I spoke to seemed surprised and apologized. We have always valued our stays at Sofitel Munich, and I am set to return on November 3rd. However, I hope these issues are not indicative of the service we can expect going forward. We love this hotel and hope for the exce
Handicap unit is not what I booked.
I got a handicap unit and it is not what I booked. It was very uncomfortable. When I asked to change they told me not eligible. In the room they never replenish shampoo and lotion bottles.
Great place to stay and beautiful
Brilliant staff and cleanliness is extraordinary. I was a bit concerned walking the street as , being that it is next to main train station, there were a number of unpleasant people hanging about. No fault of the hotel just something to be aware of. The valet was nicest of any hotel Ive stayed. A well staffed well run business.
Nice hotel.
Good Place
Nice hotel but we need windows to open and a view
No windows we could open in the rome and no room.
Amazing service and more!
Five stars! Staff, top of the line. Service above and beyond. They brought us a welcome package for our dachshund that travels with us and couldn’t believe the level of detail! Doggy treats, toy and bumwipes, and a cozy bed. Lovely breakfast and cocktails at the bar. Amazing experience!
Good hotel
the concierge was never on duty. I had to wait in line of the reception for a very long time in order to ask a simple question. Of course the answers are never the same as they could have been of a concierge. There was no decent queue at the reception and people were almost just randomly queuing.
Very nice stay. I've been there before.
Great location, next to the central train station, a short walk to the historical centre - and an easy walk to Oktoberfest park
Housekeeping didn't refill the shampoo even when they were asked to and three separate days they ignored requests for tissues and wash clothes. Bathroom super annoying - door doesn't close all the way and it's half see through. Ridiculous. Will never stay here again.
Luxury hotel? Far from it.
For a luxury hotel, I was extremely disappointed by our $700+ room. It was so small and there was nowhere to even put our suitcases. The bathroom had a glass door that didn't close properly, the shower, sink and toilet were all in one space with no shower door, therefore everything on the vanity got wet. Our television did not work on the first evening and was told someone would be up in the morning to fix it. Also at $732/night, breakfast should have been included with our room, it was not.
I am a gold Accor member and received a terrible room on main level that is probably a back up room Room by was barely cleaned (stains in toilet, hairs in shower
This hotel is great. Very modern and lots of amenities. It is very close to the train station so very easy to get around the city. The hotel is also with walking distance of popular locations like Hofbrauhaus
Great location, rooms, breakfast and customer service.
Great
Hotel room was internal no outside window, very hot, stayed 4 nights the sheets were dirty after night 1 as my friend spilled her juice, not changed the entire 4 night stay. Spa was limited no steam, seating etc just a walk in pool and naked sauna! Lady on reception very very rude asked re late night room service she said chef had gone home sick. No alternative provided even snacks! Located next to rail station, 2 female travellers, very unsafe area, lots of homeless and drug addicts. We were followed twice on the way back from restaurants in the evenings. Take a taxi! Wouldn’t stay again.
Hotel is upgraded and rooms are nice Restaurant menu is very limited with a non cooperative kitchen staff Staff was friendly and helpful Breakfast welcoming entry door staff kept yelling to all visitors… bad start for the day Concierge is worst… could not call a taxi because his phone was not working??? A first in many years of travel …he said go to the street and get one ! I love Munich and have stayed in this hotel many times Staff needs training
Quality hotel with helpful and attentive staff.
The cleaning and quietness are over the top. Very comfortable. Room is very sound proof. Closed to all transportation. needs to improve is the staff knowledge seemed to be very good for some but lacking for others for example to know where to book local tour or services. The restaurant was not impressive for both food and staff, also not good for wallet. Overall, the hotel was maintained well. One little thing about shower drainage did not go down fast enough and often flood the floor but seemed insulated well.
Great rooms in a good location next to the station. Unfortunately there is a lot of construction going next door, which makes the outside bar dry noisy during the daytime.
A over rated hotel for what you paid, the room is tiny to what is advertised and the bathroom is the smallest I have seen 4sq meters Biked a 27sq meter room and it turned out to be about 19sq It’s a shame that a Sofitel hotel can give you something that they don’t advertise
Property excellent, area surrounding hotel very dirty, sketchy and unsafe.
Good hotel very close to the train station and the old town. Clean and friendly. Used the bar one evening and good selection of drinks.
Great stay. Fantastic bed!
Soulless hotel. Everything felt quite dated and the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable to sleep on, left with terrible neck ache. It took over an hour to have our luggage delivered to our room as it got confused with another guest. The only saving grace was the breakfast which was very good.
The AC didn’t really work but everything else at the hotel was nice and modern. Great location next to main train station too.
The bed is not leveled its old need to be refurbished
Loved our stay at the Sofitel Munich! Would stay there again if we are in Munich.
Lovely hotel
Amazing from the start to the end! Really recommend to stay.
Comfortable hotel in need of room maintenance
The hotel lobby was very chic and staff were very pleasant and hospitable. The rooms however are a bit dark for my taste, although I believe this is the Sofitel style as is the second time I stay at one of their hotels. The bed felt in need of replacement, and the air conditioning did not cool below 23 degrees celsius.
Great property and helpful staff. Expedia should of let us know about the spa and pool renovations as we booked this hotel to use these facilities. Felt that it was poor advertising on behalf of Expedia.
Lacks Comfort
Room was sooo warm and sooo noisy.
The service in the bar was slow , the doors didn’t close properly and the room facilities in terms of tea and milk was a joke ! Even when you asked for more than one milk they couldn’t send you more than two !
Level of standard was basic.
We were expecting a 5 star hotel but were disappointed on many levels. Our rooms was not a level of Superior standard, it was quiet basic, toiletries were refilled types and not of high quality. We came by car and were unable to find the entrance of the hotel as there were many road works around the area and we tried calling the hotel reception and operator for more than 40 minutes but no one answered. Upon arrival we mentioned this and the reply was that they were busy!!! Water came down from the sink of the bathroom to near our bed. Our coffe cups had stains from previous time and after we washed the cups and drank our coffee the area near the coffee machine was never cleaned. No complimentary drinking water was refilled the next day nor the toiletries. Overall the staff were good but there was no personal touch. For Sofitel standard it was a little disappointing.
Overall our stay was very satisfactory, the only drawback was the air conditioning which practically didn't work. We changed rooms twice and it still didn't work. The heat was really bothersome to sleep.
I expected a little bit more kindness from the staff
Amazing hotel!
A beautiful hotel with all the amenities needed! The hotel is at a very high standard, which is rare nowadays. In the room we had an iron, which I always appreciate not having to call housekeeping and ask for. The room was lovely and big. The breakfast was outstanding, so many options. I would say the only thing was that parking was expensive, and not entirely necessary to pay for. The area around the hotel was not the nicest neighbourhood also.
Nice property overall.. A business hotel.
We have received rooms very late despite long notice we have provided to the property. Rooms were exchanged several times as hotel mixed up our requests.
Great hotel. Super convenient to Munich central station. Friendly, helpful staff. Terrific hotel amenities.
Superior in every way
We stayed here two nights and it was wonderful. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast buffet was ample and delicious, the service was excellent and the bed was just right. The location was perfect, across the street from a taxi stand and steps from the Hauptbahnhof. The hotel is also beautiful inside, very stylish. We have stayed across the street at Le Meridien as well and Sofitel beats it in every category.
High quality hotel in the train station area. An oasis in the city.
Really nice pillows and bed
Bad service
Service was bad. Room did not have shampoo or tissues. Bed sheets were very humid, not dried properly. I had to call three times between 9 am and 7 ok to finally get shampoo and be able to take a shower. No acknowledgement of the issue whatsoever as if this behaviour was expected and I was done a favour. Service not expected from a 5 star hotel, taking clients for granted.
Room was not cleaned until 2:45 after we left green card ‘ cleanup at 7:30
Overall we really enjoyed this hotel.
Very nice
We liked the proximity to the train station
We enjoyed our stay. Close to the train station made it a bonus for travel in and around the city while being a short 15 min walk from Old Town. Staff were excellent and pleasant and breakfast was great. I felt very safe in the area.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights end of June 2024. After booking the hotel, we received an email from the hotel that the spa and pool are undergoing renovations until August. Given our booking was non-refundable since we booked the hotel the day prior to arrival, we had no choice but to stay, even after we talked to Expedia, citing that the hotel is not being merchandized correctly. When we arrived at the train station which is adjacent to the hotel, we immediately realized that we should not have stayed in that area. It is not a safe area, especially in the evening. There is a red light district right next to the hotel and lots of folks trying to get money from you. After checking in-we went to our room and the room was not cleaned well. The bed mattress was also very dated since it did not support my back and my back hurt for days after sleeping in it. Our room was never cleaned after we checked in, even after I called room service in the afternoon on our first day. Food options for lunch and dinner are very pricey, even for Munich standards so be prepared. The included breakfast was fantastic though. The hotel is very far from where you will want to sightsee. Net, we wished we had booked a nicer hotel closer to the center and spent the extra $200 a night.
Excellent
Excellent hotel and caring for guests
Great hotel and staff, area very convenient for travel, but is around the Main Station in town with all it's vibrancies
Sofitel Munich Bayerpost | Hotel in Munich | Travala.com
For better or worse, French hotels
Good points: Delicious breakfast, shower toilet, close to the station. Bad points: No USB port near the bed, chairs too big and low.
