Near to the beach
It’s quite comfortable and relaxing to have a staycation near the beach
Beautifully sad property
This was someone’s dream hotel. It has so much imagination and playfulness. It’s welcoming and bright and varied and whimsical. The most amazing location. Yet it’s rotten and forgotten. The food is really awful. The maintenance is minimal. It’s not clean. Why has this place fallen? Is it lack of tourists? At 37HKD and 40 minutes from Central HK I don’t understand why it would be. Maybe a Michelin star restaurant would turn things around. A reason to go there.
The price is so good and up grade my room to sea view, so happy. Thank you hotel for caring me. Excellent to rest at this period. Many thanks
Good staff and delicious food
A private pool and kayaking available
The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. It is a peaceful part of Hong Kong, I only wish we had more time to explore.
A lovely resort, garden was peaceful during my visit, and was able to use the pool alone early in the morning. Staff are great, very helpful... the whole resort is a little bit of peace away from the bustle of the city, but on the doorstep of great amenities.
Great support from staffing team - guidance on how to set to Buddha and airport. Room very clean. Property needs refurbishing.
Easy to get to mainland attraction and airport. Restaurants on site. Ferry to Hong Kong 10 minutes walking. Beach on your doorstep
Old beds, smelly
Location great, this poor hotel looks it age. Didn’t sleep well because of noisy residents and got bitten throughout the night by mosquitoes. Woke up with blood on my sheets. Western breakfast poor so had breakfast in town at the china Bear for 1100H/K dollars each, well worth it.
I like the beach. Looks nice and clean. Facility is old. Needs some major renovation. It would be better to let taxi drop off heavy luggage for guests instead of half way, Especially during the rainny seasons.
Our room is clean and comfortable, staffs are very nice.
I liked the fact that it was in a nice, quiet, small town with nice people.

Quite
Good
Within expectations, which were not high
We stayed in the most basic room. We got what we paid for, a clean and comfortable place to sleep which was what we were looking for. Nothing more, nothing less.
Terrible
Terrible. Filthy and old. Ridiculously expensive for a very dirty and old place
nice resort and awesome location
如果價錢 可以包早餐及一項活動就更好
It was one of the worst buildings I have ever stayed in. It looked more like a community centre. The reception area had bullet proof glass round it ! They were so unhelpful and it was really not cheap! It was a 1 star hostel pricing itself more than the Grand Hyatt.
Dissapointing
Not well planned through communication, a lot of problems at arrival with our pet friendly room booking and bbq dinner booking. Room is worn out, pet friendly amenities not well prepared, etc. All in all, not a comfy room for a 4 star level.
Hard to Communicate
Too many miscommunication and hiccups in advance preparations & planning. It may say they are pet friendly, but the pet friendliness is too lacking details and information.
任何時候電話都無人聽!
普通的酒店,而且永遠沒人會聽電話!
Very old and shabby. We had to pay extra to get a room that didn’t stink. Hairs all over the bathroom floor. The only positive for me was the location on the beach. Would definitely not return.
強差人意
1.)浴簾發霉 2.)房間牆壁佈滿塵埃 3.)房內隔音不理想,經常被房外聲音騷擾
Overall the stay was pleased. Lighting was sufficient and we had no complaint about the cleanliness. Have not used any restaurants so could not comment, but heard some conflict between a group and a staff during their BBQ session when we were walking back. A little surprised that the rooms could not be released earlier as seen that the rooms shouldn't be fully occupied on the previous day.
It was very comfortable and clean. Can’t beat the location and for the price, I would definitely come back.
Overall ok.
浴廉發霉,可考慮更換

舒適我體驗
很舒適,乾淨,房間算是寛敞,很滿意
Terrible dated property with local 70s charm.
This hotel has 1970s charm and clearly nothing has been done to invest in the hotel's interior or facilities since then. Walls, carpets and everything is are worn out and dirty. Towels in our rooms had holes. Bed sheets were stained and stank of smoke. We booked two hotel rooms for our family of four as we were advised that we couldn't stay in a single room. This turned out to be a lie as there were signs all over the place that the maximum occupancy were four people. To add pain to injury, one of our rooms was practically unusable as it stank of cigarette smoke despite supposedly being a non-smoking room. The hotel is clearly favoured by the local population who have overrun the hotel and are shouting at each other all day long. The swimming pool supposedly opens at 9am but there was a long queue of around 20 people waiting for 45 minutes for someone to arrive to actually unlock the gate. Repeat complaints to management/reception were ignored. The staff hardly speak any English, so unless you're a local and enjoy 70s charm, this place is best to be avoided.
Once in a lifetime!
As an overview, we will never come back! Positive: We liked the exteriors as for going with a little kid was really nice, the grass playground + swimming pool. Negative: we did not enjoy the room at all, mainly because it was not clean (one of the towel was even broken, and the floor carpet was super dirty with stains and dusty). Quite old feeling in the whole hotel. we never tried the breakfast - we went 5' walking to a place called PAUSE very very nice! the Turkish place close to the ferry is really tasty for your lunch!!! for European standards -- very average and not recommended.
住宿問題
房間燈光太過暗
4 star surroundings with a 2 star hotel.
Let's face it you come to Silvermine Beach because it gets you out of the hustle and bustle of the city, there is a great beach and a whole lot of hiking and time in the great outdoors. You pick this hotel because it is the best there is in the area. It is old, the look is dated and the towels have holes burned in them from too much bleach. But basically it is clean and it gives you a place to stay. So we stayed there 6 nights. Went for hikes every day. Enjoyed a different local restaurants every day. Every room was full the day we checked in. Glad we didn't get a room overlooking the beach because it also overlooks the outdoor bbq area and would have been much noisier.
同時定房,不能住同一相連房.為何要加錢?
Great overall, will definitely visit again! Nice service
Wonderful stay at Silvermine Bay Hotel Resort
My husband and I had used this Silvermine Bay Hotel few times for short break. It is nice and comfortable. The beach view is spectacular. We don’t take the hotel breakfast as my husband likes dim sum and Chinese tea. We are familiar with Silvermine Bay and we enjoyed our Chinese tea outside.
Service really bad
Staff not friendly, quite unprofessional. The room (carpet in particular) not clean. Rest are fine, will pick other options next time.
Better than expected!
Better than expected! The hotel is a bit outdated but the rooms are spacious and clean and maintained very well. Very close to the port and restaurants. Quick taxi ride to the nicer beaches in the area. We will definitely come here again! And they have pet rooms too!
Offers outdoor activities include archery, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, and many more for a reasonable price. The hotel is a little old-fashioned but in good condition.
Great location and good view next to sea. Best time having a drinks for sunset.
Rude and unhygienic reception lady
The lady at the reception was not helpful at all😠😠😠. At 9am on 24/2/20, when we requested a new roll of toilet paper after the original one fell on the wet toilet floor, she insisted that we either 1) picked it up from the floor and use, or 2) simply buy one from the supermarket. She could be right that the policy could offer only one roll of toilet paper per day, but now it was an accident. She would only reply POLICY. And now we're in the midst of COVID-19 outbreak and she's talking about using contaminated toilet paper…
Nice hotel, right on the beach
Nice building, has some very attractive lighting and features in and around the garden, which was also well planted. Reception was good and fast. The hotel consists of 2 buildings - we were in the Reception building with just three floors and when booking requested a first floor room at the highest as they do not have a lift and we are getting on as bit to carry suitcases up stairs - this they took notice of and did put us on the first floor up. The room was a decent size, the twin beds were quite large and comfortable and the bathroom was clean and well equipped with nice, fluffy towels. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We got a table quickly each morning with no need to queue. It is also a proper restaurant, and seemed to do a fairly good trade afternoons and evenings. We expected the hotel to be pretty much on its own, but it was right on the seafront in a little town with a beach and a good ferry service to the mainland, and even a local bus station! The only real drawback is that the hotel is on the promenade without any car or coach etc. access so luggage has to be carried out from the main road a little way behind the hotel - not a great distance but enough to be tiring after a long day of travelling!! Only there for a couple of days but enjoyed our stay. Not a lot of shops but quite a few restaurants and a local food court.
Excellent value. Helpful staff.
Silvermine Beach Resort is an established, traditional hotel. Located in a quiet, scenic area on Lantau. Suitable recreation- Hill walks and village life. Clean and spacious rooms. The seaview rooms are a little more modern. The fitness instructor and the staff in general are very observant, swimming and kayaking is monitired closely. The pool is clean and scenic. It is a perfect get away destination for travelers particularly couples or families from the city. As expats, we travel frequently from Shenzhen. Breakfast is varied, fresh, filling.
Restful place
Relaxing hotel by the bravh
Taxi can’t stop in front of the hotel and no elevator.
Don’t stay here
There food and trash on the floor from the previous occupants. The room smelt of mould, probably because the air conditioning unit was riddled with mould. Everything in the room felt damp to the touch, probably because the windows were in openable and there was no dehumidifier. Most staff were rude and unhelpful.
We were hiking the lantau trail for 3 days, camping on route but started and finished at the Silvermine Hotel in Mui Wo. It's the perfect location for this, easily accesi le from the airport and has a great view over the bay. It's not a fancy hotel by any means but after a few nights in a tent on a mountain it's better than a five star!
Hotel feels a bit aged and lacking many amenities. Staff and service was good otherwise.
spacious room, near the ferry pier and food market. Hotel facing beach, nice view
My sister and I enjoyed our stay very much and would happily recommend the hotel to future guests. The location is perfect, the rooms comfortable and the staff very helpful. A welcome break from urban Hong Kong!
Great swimming pool, great garden for kids, not very good breakfast. Sure, will visit again!
Lovely location
Really nice hotel in lovely spot on the beach. Quiet but with fabulous bus and ferry links to either central or to places on Lantau. Only challenge is no lift and left to haul cases up 2 flights of stairs.
Great location, shops, restaurants, near by sightseeing
Location is convenient and the view is good... In general, it’s worthy to visit / stay
a little below average
This is an old hotel. Upkeep is lacking, receptionist is not well trained. I was criticized behind my back and heard by my sister that I was not speaking Chinese since I look and know Chinese by a receptionist trainee. Most of my life living in the US, speaking English is more comfortable for me but he could not understand that. There is not too many choices in this island area. If you just need a place to stay overnight and have high tolerance level, this is a place for you. I can only give it two stars.
I have stayed at the SBR many times over the past 10 years. The staff has always been very nice and the location is fantastic. It’s just a very comfortable place to relax.
Peaceful
Always good, have stayed 3 times before.
Hotel was ok but a little in need of refurbishment. Nice and clean and staff where very helpful. .location was ok with a nice beech view , but not a lot of good bars or restaurants nearby
We Would never returned there again the staff was horrible no customer services at all.
It has seen better days under bed was filthy no elevator and not one to help with bags taxi 200m walk
Stayed in a sea view room. It was small but comfortable. Decent view but windows were quite small. Nice bathroom and very clean room. The same cannot be said of the breakfast area. Ordered the buffet breakfast in the morning. It was quite disgusting. Filthy plates and glasses. Tiny ants crawling on the orange juice container and some of the fruit. Eggs had a strange smell and did not eat them. Completely lost our appetite and left still hungry. The whole restaurant could do with a deep clean. Staff were friendly enough but did not seem to know what to do when we complained. They handed us a feedback form which we filled out. Hopefully things will improve in that area as it spoiled what was otherwise a pretty pleasant stay.
Needs a refurb
Will not stay again and would not recommend until the place is fully refurbished.
4 star? try 2 star.
No way this is a 4 star hotel. Very run down and stinks. Sewage smell in our bathroom the entire >week long stay.
Silvermine was a pit
The hotel is very run-down. Needs some serious renovations and cleaning. Sewage air was seeping into the bathroom through all drains - we had to plug them all up when not in use. Very dark rooms, carpet looked disgusting. Smokers in rooms and halls even though no smoking hotel but staff did nothing even though they knew the kind of guests they had would smoke. Wifi was free (supposedly, beginning this year) but was useless as it was very slow and intermittent. Luckily, I was able to connect with LAN line, which was much better and reliable. There are much better places for the price paid. Staff were not unfriendly but also not very friendly either - probably should not be in the service industry.
The hotel is basic, looks tired with old carpet and bad decor, but if you want to drop bags and explore Mui Wo as a beach goer or runner it is good. The breakfast is part of the booking. Mui Wo is a lovely place to visit and has that special mix of locals and foreigners. People are really friendly here.
The outdoor swimming pool was very good. We had breakfast every day and dinner on one night but the food was average. There was not much choice at breakfast, the best bit was the porridge.
Hotel right on the beach and only 10 minutes walk from Mui Wo
Great stay for Lantau Trails
Nice stay and easy access to Lantau Trails. Ferry to HK, bus terminal to other parts of Lantau and lots of eatery nearby too.
The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong life, which is nice. There are some lovely restaurants within walking distance also - which was handy because we didn't fell comfortable eating breakfast at the hotel. But the hotel itself is not 4 star...a 3 star at a push. The bathroom had mould around the sink and bath, the carpet looked like it need a good steam clean. Furniture is old and dirty. The WiFi didn't work at all.
Pros: Within walking distance to start/end point of Lantau Ultra. Taxi availability is good. Cons: Not close to eating places
Excellent location
Tks for free BF. Pleasant surprise
Employees at silvermine are rude. Housekeeping is bad. Very very disappointing.
Room was nice and cleaned daily the front desk assistant was very helpful
Unfortunately the scenic photos of the Bay and property weren't quite as good in reality. Sea and air polluted. Silvermine resort hotel had closed its pool and facilities for the winter/new year period from November to March despite the warm weather and polluted sea. So no swimming or pool side bathing. No windows open in the rooms due to apparently snakes!? The room was cold very damp as was the beds and linens, perhaps better during the summer. We left having only managed 2 days out of 4 and went to the mainland Hong-Kong. Staff and service was good and the place was kept clean. But we wouldn't return.
Pleasant hotel, overlooking the beach. A bit shabby. No lift
Great location right on the beach and very good value for money indeed. Its a budget hotel, not luxurious, but clean and tidy. Room was fine, a little old fashioned but clean and air con worked well with a good selection of TV channels. The same for breakfast - not high-class but very good value for money, good choice in buffet was on special deal at only $33 per person for those staying at the hotel, well worth it, especially in the cool weather sitting on the outside terrace, inside the restaurant was more like a cafeteria. Highly recommended due to: location and price and cleanliness.
The draft Hoegaarden was off (very sour and undrinkable). We live in Hong Kong and have stayed at the hotel on many occasions for a break. Nice and quiet and calm views over water from the hotel patio.... but this is not the first time the beer has been off. The staff replaced the beers with another brand but charged the same and no real apology.
Rite on the water. Beautiful sunrise in a small town setting. Just a short ferry ride away from Hong Kong...
Relax close to the airport...
Just there for an overnight. A welcome Respite from the chaos of the airport and city. Take a blue taxi from the airport; returning taxis are harder to get.
Overall it was good close to ferry to connect to most points, however taxi was issue.
Silvermine Mui Wo
This is a good place to stay if you want to be out of the hustle and bustle of the city. But it is only about 20 minutes by ferry to Hong Kong Island. There are lots of ferries at reasonable cost.Where the hotel is at Mui Wo, there are supermarkets, a bank, and several restaurants. The beach is spotless with excellent facilities. There is a mix of local people, tourists and young people at the activity centre. The hotel is comfortable with everything you need. It is not a plush city centre hotel.
Right on the beach
A way to see a different part of Hong Kong. Regular ferries from Central make the pretty trip here, or take a bus S1 from the airport to Tung Chung and then bus 3M. Occasionally bus A35 runs direct from the airport. The hotel is right on the beach in this little seaside resort.
The room is clean and tidy. We can see part of the beach from the window.
Beautiful beach and grounds. Old building, but enough modern upgrades. XLNT BBQ dinner and amazing breakfast buffet! No elevator. No bellman.
Always use this hotel. If you have a room overlooking the beach, waking up to the view starts the day off in the best possible way. About 10 minutes walk to the ferry, now the pavement and promenade are done it's a lovely stroll.
amazing breakfast deal on arrival.
Lovely large comfortable bed in large, clean room. Fantastic view of the beach and sea from large window. We saw a beautiful sunrise each morning. Reception was friendly. Enjoyed our stay and may return! Thank you.
Great location, but the quality of breakfast was a bit disappointing. No elevator so you need to carry your bags to 3rd floor if you end up there. Internet is very weak and disappearing often.
Great resort in HK
It is a good place for relax with nice food (inside or nearby), afternoon tea, Spa, hiking, sightseeing, swimming pool. It’s a good resort in HK. The only drawback is a bit noicy, as the crowd checked in late evening. Take note that is no lift in the resort as well....
Old looking on the outside, limited staff but very nice. I liked the room, though I wished it had a better selection of channels. I would stay there again. Don’t eat there except for breakfast.
The hotel is directly on the beach BUT the staff were rude and the room was very dirty. We had a dead cockroach on the side of the bed and the room was outdated. The morning we was leaving, we tried to get a taxi to the airport and apparently none was available which made us almost miss our flight. We had to ask locals for help because the staff at the hotel did not help us or care to help!
