Patches in carpet , more like back packers hostel, laundry untidy , soap bottles empty in bathroom , noisy at night from community kitchen, doors slamming through the night. Desk only manned between 1445 -2030. wont stay again ot reccomend it for families.

the property is getting very tired and the room could have been cleaner. there was some painting happening in the hallway, so perhaps they are starting to give the place a paint - I hope they do all the walls and not just patch them The spare blanket in the room for the sofa bed was dirty. The sofa bed itself was below standard - the mattress was very very thin. The bedding for the main bed and sheets and towels were very clean and the bathroom shower was hot and had great water pressure - so that was great.

They seem to be in the process of refurbishing this property

Old, Bed 2 beds together like climbing Mount everest, ,shower if door not closed hits toilet and floor dosent drain , shower has hole above , and ceiling tile has fallen down, ,no fan , blinds are not effective , wouldnt recommend to anyone

I asked for a cancelation and refund as i tested position for covid. My employer sent them an email confirming it. Was told no. They expected me still to come and spread covid to everyone else

View was lovely and a convenient position close to Taupo"s restaurants and shops. Room was spacious and clean but bed and pillows were very uncomfortable!

Even for a value property there were issues with the kitchen facility- fridges, stoves all filthy. Grounds poorly maintained. Mattresses were very lumpy and thin. Water pressure in shower great. Room sizes are good. Would not recommend to friends for a stay.

This place had a very misleading Expedia blurb, it was dirty, rude staff and incredibly noisy. Would never stay here again. The only positive is it’s location.

Personally i thought it was over priced!

Tired, worn old motel in need of update. Patched drywalls need paint. Terrible queen bed - woke up with sore back. Communal kitchen is barely functional - 2 electric stoves broken but 1 gas stove worked, dishwasher broken, no tea/paper towels to dry dishes (and you're expected to clean up). Clean dishes, cutlery and utensils were wet. Would not recommend.

We had a bit of a hiccup with check in because of personal time restrictions but the issue was eventually sorted which was much appreciated . Thanks to the staff for helping with this.

The worst place we have ever stayed. Minimal to no hot water in the shared showers. Bunk beds so squeaky we had to put a mattress on the floor to stop the noise. Lots of maintenance needed including multiple lights not working mostly in the bathrooms. For what we paid it was pretty bad.

Room is Very clean but crowded, not much space but it is just right and still comfortable.

We were late booking over the festive period so lucky to find somewhere and so were realistic as to what we had booked- unfortunately we found the room and in particular the shower/toilet facilities very unhygienic. The female area I don’t think was cleaned the whole time we stayed.

The lodge needs an upgrade. It's looking very tired and worn. It's painful that there is no lift to the 2nd floor and no one to help you either. On the plus side the cleaning staff do a good job.

Great location in Taupo - i have stayed here many times and like the convenience and value for money. However I found the place very tired this time - a lack of maintenance is starting to show and it looks a bit rundown. And generally the place was not very clean.

Sorry to say this was one of the worst motels we have stayed in Taupo, staff were only there to take your money the rest of the time front desk was closed. Lack of instructions about the place and what to do with door opener when leaving, in the room mattress was broken base was stained, between two people one face cloth, one hand towel, no bath mat, on leaving no hot water for a shower, no dish liquid, no dish cloth. Overall disappointing stay. D & P

It was okay but the showers were cold at times so I had to get up early if I wanted to have a hot shower which was annoying

Location was good, max says “it was aight” They put us in the wrong room, but they corrected it once we brought it to their attention.

Nice room, very clean. Didn't get the room I booked but it was only for one night. No personal service.

Parking is tight - so a smaller car is preferable. There was no room service, but we were only there for the weekend so we didn't mind

Local Friendly & Clean :)

Stayed 6 nights solo, the hotel staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. My room 210 had its own balcony which I could see the lake from. Only a 10 minute walk into town, local museum etc. Unfortunately the fridge was not working properly but I'm sure easily fixed. The QS bed was comfortable and quiet later at night so slept well also. I'd stay here again for sure.

Poor quality mattress, so bad we had to change rooms, shared kitchen facilities that left other peoples food aromas (read curry and fish) drift into rooms, poor quality furnishings

Worst place I have ever stayed in! The hotel is dirty. The staff are very rude! THERE IS NO HOT WATER! The "king bed" is 2 single mattresses pushed together badly. The room is NOT lake facing! Completely misleading! DO NOT BOOK HERE!

Easy access

Rooms need better cleaning- mould in shower vent in the ceiling, sink was blocked, better cleaning in rooms required. Outside gardens and rubbish need attending to.

Location was very convenient. Easy to get around to find good and drinks.

It seemed like the small fridge in the room was broken, and the shower drainage didn't work well. Other than that, everything was nice and was friendly.

Would definitely stay again. Goid location and really appreciated the comfortable bed and later check-in arrangements. Thanks.

Disappointed... The property was ok, the service was fine when we checked in but the communication was terrible... rang reception twice to have our bin emptied.... no one came. Also rang to ask for another blanket and we waited 20 minutes only for housekeeping to bring a sheet.... The "Extra Large double bed" is INDEED NOT. Its 2 sing beds pushed together... there is only 1 thin duvet inner (which has no cover) and about 4 sheets on the bed. Would not stay again.

Property wasn't what we expected from web, was more of a backpackers , shared bathroom-toilets ,kitchen. But room although no aircon was adequate.

This place used to be really good but now it's gone downhill for sure! Wouldn't take much to fix up, - Staff need to be more present, had a family next to me with their kids up and down the hallway knocking on doors till 2am. - Paid for delux room x2 nights never got any new linen or room clean, and the bathroom still had hair in it. - Kitchen appliances are terrible none of the ovens work and the one that semi works is disgustingly dirty you'll smoke out the whole 2nd floor if you turn it on. - The ONLY thing this place has going for it is location. Really sucks because I've been here before and it was really good but I don't know if it had new owners oe what but it's shocking now! And I won't be back there again

The pull out couch was not comfortable and it was not sorted out with bedding after I reminded them that it needed to be done. The community kitchen needs a revamp.

4 person room we stayed in wasn't vacuumed, mattress old. Very run down room, bathroom stand broken, toilet leaking as well as kitchenette sink leaked into the cupboard and onto carpet. After showing the manager he only said it can be fixed next day..no apology or offer to dry or clean it. Cooking food smells also waft into your room from the main shared kitchen..a rangehood would probably help. Very sad as it's more affordable option for families but it could be so much better..

Good value, good location

Bathroom was not clean properly when we arrive. Everything is good but bathroom 🚽 have to be tidy.

Aside from the noisy cars, the property is as described. It was basic and great for a stop over to rest our head on way to Wellington from Auckland

Booked a King bed. Got two doubles pushed together for a romantic night away... Bathroom had paint flex anaround edge of floor from ceiling , been there for months, wiped floor with bath mat and mawas black from dirt off floor

I did not like the fact the hot water temperature had been set. I was unable to make my shower hotter.

It was very convenient for an overnight stay. Friendly check in and clean room with its own bathroom. So necessary for older guests. TV and heating in room was good too

Clean and tidy motel. Car park was full, so had to park out on roadside

Clean and tidy. Was greeted at reception by friendly staff on arrival, however no staff on reception the next morning and it was afer 8.30am. Heat pump in room was not very effective and was disappointed to find hotwater ran out and had a cold shower. Paid accomodation should not run out of hot water.

Property needs some serious repairs. Its a great spot for a cheap couple of nights. But the room we stayed in required serious actual building code repairs to the bathroom ceiling.

Althought the staff were friendly and helpful,the lodge kitchen had sub-standard cooking equipment eg frypans and no coffee plunger, grater etc.The water in the tap was not hot enough to actually wash dishes and kill bacteria. The shower water temperature also was warm only and could not be increased to have a hot shower, to the point that I chose not to shower because of the cold. Generally things are run down, eg no towel hook in shower, non-fitting shower curtain, broken things not fixed. I would not stay at this place again

Really great value for money. Clean spacious private room with private bathroom and option to use the communal kitchen. Easy parking and not far from the town centre for walking.

Location is good. What was poor is the fact we didn’t get much hot water in our shower. Maintenance guy said it was standard across the room. Water temp was quite cold plus it was 1degree outside so a hot shower would have been great. Bunk bed needs work done on it, metal rails make a lot of noise with kids twisting and turning in bed. Otherwise not a bad place to stay for the money

After checking in I checked the bedding and found a filthy, staind mattress cover, had to get them to change and put new one on bed, lounge suite had stains and shower door was cloudy, fittings falling off the walls and light fittings missing, with water stains on back of curtains.

Disappointed with my stay. Large stains on carpet, tired furniture, hard bed & a bathroom with a massive hole in the ceiling covered by a sheet of corflute (like a real estate sign). Difficulty with checking in also.

This is a nice hotel it’s away from the noise of the shopping and bar area. Across from the lake so nice views out the window and a small balcony

Does Not have Restaurant.

Firstly, complete false advertising. It does Not have a Restaurant & does Not put on breakfasts. A good thing I phoned to check a few days before. It has a communal kitchen & dining area with cooking gear & shared fridges & crockery etc. It did not have air conditioning in the room. We stayed in a room with shared bathrooms down the passage way. The room was reasonably clean the beds comfortable & the linen being from a hire laundry was normal hotel quality. The reception was quick but charged my credit card without asking so incurred a 3.5% additional fee! But said they would give us a bottle of wine but we had to chase them to get it. The staff say very few words, so not very welcoming. The shared bathroom/toilets had ingrained dirt in the floor, the hand dryer didn’t work, the men’s urinal over flowed sometimes when flushed leaving things messy & smelly. Hallway carpets were threadbare in places & the dish washer in the communal kitchen should be thrown out. Hot water in the showers ran out if you were late getting up, but if you got up early the communal kitchen was locked till 7.30am so you couldn’t get at your food stored there. The rooms were called ECO but maybe they could start with Eco shower heads. Good car parking but the 1st car park area needs some attention. Because there was a major event that weekend their room rate was very high, completely unjustifiable given the state of & type of place.

Was a reasonable motel at a reasonable price convenient to thev town centre. Rooms and common areas need attention, paint scuff marks , worn carpets, dirty oven in common kitchen area.

Easy to find and walking distance of town. Parking was plentiful.

Nice motel and great price. Staff were quick to remedy a missing tv remote. Plenty of off street parking too. Room was very clean and well presented. Would stay there again.

Our shower was blocked, need to manually pump the drain so the water would flow. Bags of laundry were placed on the side of the stairs and can be a safety hazard. Curtains have water stains.

Had a very friendly welcome. Beds were comfy & linen crisp & clean. Bathroom is a bit dated but clean.

I am a 72 year old who found the bed was very uncomfortable. This accommodation was very basic with no elevator, and no one around to help us with our heavy bags.

Great after hours access

we had asked for a wheelchair accessible room but when we booked in we had been allocated a 2nd floor room only accessible by stairs, when I commented and complained we were allocated a ground floor room, Very limited facilities, no dining table 1 dining chair, no toilet in the motel room, we had to go out into a public corridor and use shared facilities. not ideal when my wife is handicapped, I had to be woken in the night 3 times when she needed to access the toilet, no tea towel in the kitchen to dry the dishes, no dish mop and dish detergent almost empty.

Close to center of town. Easy access, convenient and clean.

The hotel was very clean and roomy. The bed was really comfortable and the room facilities were excellent. It was in a good location and provided lots of parking. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Loved the kitchen area and outside eating area. Great for meeting fellow travellers

This motel does have a few small signs of wear and tear, but the price compared to others in Taupo makes up for that. Very conveniently located close to town where dinning options are. Great covered car parking . Just a note to management, don’t replace the milk with creamer sachets, they are rubbish! You can’t have that in a cup of tea… regards.

Nice place with niche people. The bath wasn't completely cleaned when we checked in (there was hair in the shower). The worse thing was a continuous 'house crack' every so often and sometimes really loud; fortunately it would stop at night time (only hear it/woke me up once).

More of backpacker Lodge than clean but a little tired
