Excellent property

Was given a keycard for my room. Went up to the designated room only to find it occupied. I'd paid for a premiere room. Well, looking down the bathroom window, i stared directly into the 8m sinkhole where the Indian tourist disappeared in last week. Scary as.Chose this hotel so I could explore. I couldn't due to safety readons. Another sinkhole appeared 50m away.

great stay close to everything and within walking distance

Shower water pressure and hot water were not great. Gym was old and only had 1 free weight for certain weights. hallways feel old. Convenience store in the lobby is convenient. Only indian food within walking distance.

Clean room - not luxe but comfortable

Great place!

A wonderful comfy hotel in a great location: very well-placed for the LRT (subway) and has a bus stop just outside. Plenty of food options nearby. The only thing I would say that needs improvement is the pool area. It's not that relaxing to be in, has no seating and there's a bit of a bird poop problem. But other than that, a great experience in the heart of the city.

We stayed 7 nights. The property is definitely outed, especially the gym and pool. Staff came at odd hours to clean the room, time vary from 6:00 Am and even 4 pm. Overall good stay for the price. The internet was weak and we barely got service. You constantly have to log in every few minutes.

Staff were good, understanding and helpful.

Perhaps the management would like to consider more personnels at the reception. Had to wait more than 15 minutes although I was third in the queue and there was only one receptionist on-duty. The lobby sofa was all occupied at that time by other guests' family members. The longest wait was for the lifts. Also, check buttons and shower holder. Some are broken. Otherwise, this hotel is strategically located for shopping.

Honest opinion

This hotel is in a great location and very easy to get around from here but as for the hotel itself it is old and dated the pictures on the internet look totally different from the place itself the pool, fitness centre and the standard room was the biggest disappointment the fitness centre has old equipment and no air con in there and with only one fan for the whole room it's a waste of time as it does nothing unless u are on the machine in front of it , the pool looks so clean and fresh, new in the pics but is very dark and gloomy when you are there plus with only two sun loungers for the building which at a guess has 700/800 guests/residents it just doesn't really work! The standard rooms are not even in the pics so when booking it's deceiving as I thought I was getting a different room to what I actually got plus the air con was shocking in the room (3024) was my room it was just not cold at all and the fridge was just as warm to so just be careful on what you chill in there Also, the staff on reception could be more helpful like just telling you what floor your room is on, the gym is on, swimming pool is on just simple things you need when you have been travelling and now just want to relax The wifi had a bad habit of dropping out too The Housekeeping team on the 30th floor we're amazing, so helpful friendly and polite so thank you to them 😁

Not so good. booked a Deluxe room with 2 single beds BUT got a bigger room with a Single Bed and Queen. It was supposed to be an UPGRADE but I feel it was actually a DOWNGRADE!!!. The room was deplorable and lack all the amenities of the Deluxe room. 1. The air-cond was put at HIGH but it was still WARM - reported, repair man came but still no change 2. The toilet was so CRAMPED. - The shower on the ceiling and the wall was turned ON at the same time even though only the wall mounted one was selected. As a result my clothing was all wet when I wanted to take ablution. - the hose next to the toilet bowl is leaking and the tap cannot be TURNED ON completely as it was too close to the wall.... - The door cannot be opened completely as it hit the TOWEL hanger on the wall 3. NO WiFi! It did not reach the room or there was just NONE 4. No Signage for the room on the wall as we exit the lift, (2714) therefore, we had to circle the whole floor before we finally found our room. The management offered to move us to another room but because we have unpacked our stuff, it was quite tedious for us to move. As such, we had to bear with these DISSATISFACTION. I have been a regular at Silka Maytowers, but this time I was really UNHAPPY with the stay.

Hotel unable to enforce no smoking rules

Smoking is common, the hotel's response to any complaint is to torque up the AC to 'blow out' the smoke from your room. Actually, keeping the bathroom light/fan on at all times does a better job of keeping the smoke out. But, when you leave your room, you must take the key card. So all electricity goes out, the fan turns off, and you return to a smoky room. The sauna on the women's side is not working. Western women may not realize that using the men's sauna (and there by shutting the door to the sauna room) would put them in a precarious situation legally speaking. They would have no legal defence should they be assaulted, since they had willingly gone into a men's area and shut the door. Even though it is in an open area with easy access. This is a cultural trap that a western woman would not recognize, and would probably not think twice about using it since it's in a public use area of the hotel. Per the rooms, at first I thought the rooms were well soundproofed, but it was only because no one was next door. My last night, I had neighbors who kept me up past midnight with a blaring TV and loud talking with children and people down the hall. Hotel can't enforce quiet hours either.

Lovely stay

Pro: quiet rooms, reasonable room service, breakfast buffet offers wide range of options, lunch menu offers 1/2 buffet (salads/soup and desserts). Staff are gracious and polite. Convenience store on site. Cons: swimming pool is under a full cover & has limited sunshine. Elevator doesn't open on gymnasium floor. Overall: excellent value, would stay here again on future trips

The towel not so favourable. Got blood stain. The switches at the bed also not in good condition. Loose.

Lovely hotel, lovely room we stayed in the staff very helpful. Best are of hotel is the restaurant the food and all the staff who work in that area they are fantastic so friendly lovely. Only little down thing about hotel room was it could have done with the carpet Hoover at least once over our 7 day stay it would have been nice

The hair drier was broken. It took them a whole day to get it fix there was no safe in the room. Called so many times and finally went to from desk and they kept saying there was one in the room. Sent someone because they thought I was not telling the truth. It took two days to get one. Room are ver small. They show you big rooms in their pictures. I kept asking for a lower room because elevators kept breaking down. They gave me one on the 28th floor

Near to township. Easy to get food and shopping.

Don’t think this hotel deserve a 3 stars rating. Basic necessities like towels etc not provided. Room is very filthy. There were 4 cockroaches crawling at my bed headboard at night.

Holiday with family of 7

Cannot check-in at 2pm because the room was not ready. Have to wait until 2.55pm. But they compensate me with breakfast voucher for the whole family.

Good place to smell your neighbour guest.

Old hotel, but staffs were kind. You can hear and even smell(!) your neighbour guest. I had to complain of my neighbour's smoking in the middle of the night. You can check what kind of people use this hotel before you book it.

Good location, around restaurants, shopping complex & Express transportation

nice hotel but in india area of town

the room was lovely, no complaints but the hallways could be improved. There is a nice pool on the eighth floor and a gym on the ninth. however some of the gym equipment looked past its best. Hotel is well situated close by to lulu hypermart which we enjoyed. India town is very smelly and you can smell the rubbish/??sewage out on the street. the hotel does not smell however. Staff are nice and the food is great. would defo come again

Toilet was dirty and not clean.The rooms really need a renovation.I always stay in Silka but this time now very disappointed.

Decent hotel

Pros: Free and lot of carpark, near to mamak stalls, shopping, convenient shops, atm etc. Cons: Same building with serviced apartment, crowded sometimes, rooms quite small, bad front desk: I call receptionist at night asking for iron, but no one answered! I need to went down by myself to get iron.

Best location for site seeing, shopping and having good and reasonale eatery spots nearby / walking distance.

I got a great deal with Expedia for a friends birthday so I didn’t expect much from the hotel. But I did not expect stained sheets, stained towels, unhygienic bathrooms and uncleaned rooms. Also, beware of the elevators as multiple times our group of 4 were stuck and no explanation was given. The hotel staff would constantly unhelpful and rude even when asked the simplest questions. You don’t usually spend a lot of time in hotel rooms when travelling to another country but it would have been nice to go back to a hotel room where you weren’t afraid to contact a disease from the bed sheets. Be aware that the photos provided on the site are not the rooms you stay in.

good breakfast for the price paid and late check out allowed. it is the best deal in kl.

The building and the furniture are old but that's ok. The problem is cleanliness. Deluxe room had a few small cockroaches here and there. Breakfast not too bad mainly because the area is nice and clean and the music is appropriate. If you can afford to pay more stay elsewhere. On the upside the location is great!

Nice hotel rooms with views

Good location 20 min walk to klcc ,china town and ,petronas towers. Hypermart accross the road and some great restaurants nearby uf you want to go exploring. Restaurant and buffet breaky was terrific with lovely staff all round.

Perfect location

I was surprised to have an irresistable rate in a 4-star hotel with such perfect location. The only thing which bothered us is the space of the guest room is not spacious enough with the bathroom door doesn't have a lock/cannot be locked.

Nice hotel

Great location. Breakfast was a nice buffet spread. Room is well maintained. But book at least a deluxe room for a comfortable stay as the superior room is quite small if you're staying for more than 2 nights.

Overall about the hotel is good. Nice breakfast. Variety of food. Easy to travell around the city. Good hospitality.

The front desk was not friendly. We stayed for a night then checked out on the second day. However, the price is worthy of staying.

Everything was superb. except for cockroaches.

overall experience was just meh because one thing kesd to another. staff are not willing to accept additional responsibilities when approached, they will just reply don't know or not sure or even act like their busy.

Stay was comfortable. Breakfast basic. It must have been a good hotel at one time, needs updating. Chairs in dinner worn and slitting. Rooms need a bit of an upgrade

Pantry too many roaches.

When we open the pantry cabinet there were many roaches especially near the fridge. Hotel management should really ldo something.

Hotel was old

I stayed in the suite room was nice, except there was coakroaches on the sink at the living area, there was quite a number of it...had to call the housekeeping to spray insecticides...the food was limited choice for breakfast with no half boiled egg, bread was also late in refilling. The hotel is old and needs upgrading otherwise it is ok as the location is good.

Magnificent view in the heart of the city

I checked-in late and the process of getting checked-in was pretty smooth. I enjoyed the stay as the view is amazing and close to the LRT station, Masjid Jamek. Overall, I would recommend this place to the tourist. With such a best price, you can live in the heart of the city and get a magnificent view.

If u want a hotel at the heart of the bustling jalan tar with free parking, this is the one to go for.

Worst Nightmare

-the hotel is rundown and under maintained. -first step into the room I saw cracks on the wall and dirt & stains all over the furnitures. -2 cockroaches welcomed us by dashing across the bed and the bathroom. -complanined to the receptionist and check out immediately. The receptionist promised to work on the refund with Expedia however, to date I have not been receiving any updates from them even with my follow up email. -a big NO and NEVER to me!

Functional hotel

It was a good hotel, clean room and friendly attentive staff. Good place to stay if you need to be in around Masjid Jamek area(5-10 mins walking distance).

Hiccup upon check-in

The reception could not locate one more room and we had to wait for about 30 mins. I made 2 bookings separately. Firstly for 2 rooms; registered in my name and auntie's, Norliah. 3 days later, made another booking for an additional room in my name again. Upon checking in, I was given 2 rooms in my name ie. one from 1st and the other from 2nd booking. They were searching under my name. After so much of time wasted, the superior came and found another room under Norliah. Shouldn't it come together with my 1st booking ? I hope the hotel will be more efficient.

Free Upgrade to Suite

I received free upgrade from Deluxe room to Suite. My kids was delighted! The rooms was in a tip top condition but the local area / parking could be improve. We are however unable to connect to Wifi and was informed by the hotel staff that the service was facing problem at that time. Thank you.

Not sure if i wanna come back again

I used to stay at Silka a few years back coz of the location... Room was nice and clean and I did enjoy my stay that time... but this time I was soo disappointed coz the rooms were all infested with roaches!!(I booked 6 rooms, btw). The carpet were not cleaned properly coz I could see crumbs and i found a sock under the tv console!!! And also the hotel needs to do something abt the wifi connection.. I could not connect to the wifi in my own room but instead i hv to use the wifi from my parents' room... even when i can get connected, it'll be super SLOW! And always get disconnected... sooo frustrating!!! Don't think I'm coming back... not until the hotel gets a better ratings from other travellers

Convenient location but dirty room

Booked 2 rooms and stayed 2 nights. First enter the rooms the coffee & sugar sachets were not available. Then realised both of our rooms plenty of small cockroaches crawling everywhere. Despite informing the front desk office, nothing was done to fumigate rooms or change rooms. Previously stayed was satisfactory but next time need to think twice of coming this hotel again.

Good for night stay only

Very good location for shopping and eateries.. But condition of rooms can be better, with little critters crawling around... For night stay is recommended but for leisure and relaxation give it a miss.

Old 2* Hotel in need of repair

***** Definately not a 4 star hotel***** All staff were all very freindly, generally helpful, and apologetic (at appropriate times), however we found ourselves without towels one day and without toilet paper three (out of four) days. Some days our service calls would not be actioned until calling 3 or 4 times, often over several hour timeframes. The room was mostly clean, except some dust builld up in hard to get to to places, however our toilet was blocked and there was significant damage in the room (windows not able to be clsoed, power points damaged etc.). Hot food order from room service was delivered cold. The location was great for us as we were able to walk to almost everything we wanted, and the private tour operators at the front were very helpful :)

Hotel assessment

Hotel is centrally located that is the only positive. The breakfast spread is bad, rooms and service are just about average.

Pitstop hotel

Room small. Wall to wall between queen bed. Staff are not friendly and rough. Reception area a bit mess. Credit point fr this property are walking distance to Sogo Shopping Mall and local stuff at market area.

Convenient & accessible

Deluxe Room quite ok. Hotel is opposite Jakel mall & abt 10 min walk to sogo mall. A lot of hawkers nearby so easy to get food. Slow Check in, got our 2nd room 2 hrs later. Poor Wifi connection.

Nice hotel in the middle of KL

it's lovely experience. Comfortable and privacy. Easy access to any stores for shopping since the hotel is in the middle of KL. Just can walk a few meters to Jalan TAR, and JAKEL right across the road. Definitely suitable when you in purpose come to KL for shopping.

Worth it

Close to kl center, ample of parking space with complimentary parking. Room is spacious, comfy bed, strong water flow hot shower. We enjoyed the stay and definitely will come back.

Nice hotel N affordable...

Nice staying but room too small n elevator too slow...Nice city view

I was informed that they gave me a complimentary room upgrade. However, it was disappointed to learn that the room that I was assigned to was old and under maintained. The bathroom was big, but there were many baby cockcroaches in the bathroom. The elevator was extremely slow. I had to ask for change of room the next day.

Convenient

What i like about this hotel is it provides free parking. The location is also within walking distance to the lrt if u dont wanna ride ur own transport. However, there are other hotels nearby as well. The room is a bit small and dated but since i havent stayed in other hotels in the area, i dont know how it compares to others. The receptionists are friendly and the check in process was very quick. They also let me store my belongings behind the counter before check in time and after check out which is very much appreciated. All in all i'm very happy with my stay and this is the third time i'm staying at this hotel and will definitely choose this hotel again next time.

Hotel was nice, does have sign of wearing down but livable. 3 star in my opinion. Views are good from deluxe room given but I strongly believe they should make twin tower/KUL tower the view from every deluxe room. The deluxe room 2801 had nothing exciting.

The hotel is comfortable rather than luxurious and the swimming pool is adequate. The rooms are clean and the bathrooms do have a bath, as well as a shower. Good value and a good location.

Great location, good price

Arrive early, ask for possible early checkin. Not available. I understand and dont mind about it. However the manners of front office staff are disappointing and very unprofessional. I asked fir possibke early checkin to staff A, she didnt look at me, just ask staff B to 'check'. I have travelled to many countries, usually staff A will explain that they will need to check if any room is available, and that my friend B will help you with that. The manager should train this professional manners esoecially for the front office staff. This is my 2nd time stayinf at silka, and the sane staff shows the same nay bother attitudes. The staff whom checked me in eventually much later were miles better - full of smile, warm greetings and eye contact. Even the staff who manage the left luggage are really pleasant. So most of your staff are good, just a couple of them left give me bad impression. The room this time look much cleaner, especially no cockroaches. The wifi also connect easily, not like last time. However, the room and hotel need some tlc. The winning point if silka is location..otherwise i think silka will score much worse than this.

Not for Pleasure

I selected this hotel purely because of its location. The general condition of the building was pool but all other room facilities worked adequately except the bath plug, which I am sure was deliberate to save water. The most memorable thing was the fact that we walked into the room to find a used condom lying in the middle of the floor. The assistant manager came quickly and apologised and offered complimentary breakfast to try and recompense. We tried one morning but did not go back. Not a hotel to stay in for pleasure.

VERY BAD Reception service.

Everytime went there , they keep on giving me a wrong ROOM. Pay for Deluxe room but they give me standard room. EVERTIME.

the hotel and the rooms are somewhat dated and the bathroom was quite dirty- i'd recommend that the bathroom tiles were regrouted and cleaned properly. The corridors were somewhat creepy and painted in a strange colour.

Not so great

Breakfast was nice, but the hotel any my room were not clean. It was inexpensive, but there are even less expensive (cleaner) hotels nearby. There isn't a lot within walking distance, but Uber is super convenient and very inexpensive.

Hotel near to the city

everything is good. Close to the city. The hotel might look old but the Room is clean and the bed is comfy. Staff was helpful but the check in procedure is very slow.
