Staff nice and friendly, very helpful.
Average stay
Parking is onsite limited and very tight. I would suggest moving that middle but so that cars can come and go without worrying someone will hit your car overnight. Rooms are average but equivalent to what you pay for
My third Covid-19 ruined Auckland Trip
I had to mark off all of the categories to be able to comment here. This group voluntarily kept my booking open for 6 months, which I really appreciated. I have already lost money on bookings with Covid-19 & this is my first show of compassion. With Covid-19 announcements being spontaneous, even free cancellations do not always apply.
This is a straightforward and perhaps basic motel but we have stayed here on visits to Auckland over the years because it is very handy to Newmarket and the city, it is clean and tidy and has good-sized studio rooms with very good bathrooms. The current staff Hong (manager) and James are very helpful and friendly.
Best bed
Very clean, charming little motel with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on.
It's really quiet. Nice garden setting. Feels like you're in the suburbs rather than downtown.
Excellent value for money. Clean, comfortable and spacious room with all the requirements needed.
While this is a fairly basic motel, we have stayed at it on a fair number of occasions over the past decade because it is handy to the parts of Auckland we come to visit. The present manager, Hong Tang, is a treasure -- one of the friendliest and knowledgeable people I have met in an accommodation place.
Great traditional hotel, but grim rubber mattress
Thanks for a lovely stay. The only problem was the bed. It had been covered with a rubber topper, making it nearly impossible to sleep on due to getting hot underneath and repeatedly turning over.
Location was good. Value was for money was good, though the other motel I stay at was also good but it appears the booking agencies whack up prices due to demand, but I believe there was no demand as some of the rooms in both places were vacant. Windows were missing part of their latches so they don’t seal, making the rooms noisy. It appears the proprietors run them into the ground to make money. The steps to my room seem like they need to be renewed, perhaps they will wait until someone gets injured. I missed having proprietors who are interested in their guests.
Location to Newmarket etc - quick easy access from the road very suitable for overnight business visits to Auckland
The Room 15b was smelly of water leak or something, musty smell hit us when we opened the room up
The room is very big, nice and clean. We had a very great experience stayed at siesta motel.
We were a bit disappointed there was no sink to wash the dishes etc, we had to use the vanity sink in the bathroom. Although the unit was quite warm after using the heater, we could not find any extra blankets for the bed, there was no electric blankets, and the extra pillows available were not worth finding. Overall, the motel provided a roof over our heads and a place to sleep.
This Motel is located where it is easy to get to other parts of the city. It is well maintained and has all the usual amenities you would expect. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The property was very convenient to where we wanted to be and close the Southern motorway. We were able to get to a supermarket easily and other facilities such as petrol stations and buses into the City Center of Auckland..
Friendly office lady, own parking space, clean and tidy.
location is convenience to city centre and shopping malls, staff are very friendly and helpful, free wifi and quiet at night. best motel ever stayed in this holiday trip. Thanks.
for a low-cost price, I was very pleasantly surprised at how clean and tidy and good condition the inside of the room was
It was very quiet and very clean, no sky which meant if I'd realised I wouldn't have booked here, but no complaints about anything else
The cleaner was excellent room checked daily..Outside needs a bit of maintainance otherwise comfortable. After deciding we would stay one more day we were discounted thank you.Overall comfortable stay, and close to all amenities.
Location is great, handy to bus stops and walking distance to Newmarket. Noisy at night with the main road so close to the unit.
The check was prompt and efficient. The room was dated but clean. Kitchen was less than acceptable. Overall appearance of motel and grounds is scruffy.
a real surprise when i got there, the room was not what i expected. it was more small self contained flat, really big, the bed was comfortable, had a table chairs a sofa, fridge everything i needed. parking is a bit small, and people often parked in my space but thats just nit picking. staff were great easy to deal with. looking for to my stay again next week.
Great check in Reception lady was very helpful and friendly The room was great with a good shower and very clean, I will be a regular here thank you
Nice enough stayed one night bed super comfy place clean and tidy
Great location-close to Newmarket
Was a handy place for us to stay as we had an action packed weekend. It was close to most events we had planned. Very clean, tidy and affordable.
Convenient location but very noisy. Bathroom was nice
Great location comfy room fantastic staff James is awesome even carried our bags to our room this was my second stay and will definetley be going back .
Good location
Great location to concert venues but needs a bit of work to tidy the place up. A little over priced compared to other places I've stay at in Auckland. Fantastic, helpful staff.
city motel
OK motel close to Auckland city!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice place to stay. Good experience. Recommended place to stay
Nice hotel very close to new market
The staff are so reliable friendly and respectful. The rooms were very tidy and the facilties were convenient for our stay. The beds are amazing comfortable. We stayed 3 nights
Staff were great,
Overall motel needs a makeover, and good clean, superb friendly hosts, suited the purpose of somewhere to stay for a night.
My Booking Was Lost
Booked through Wotif, received confirmation it was all complete and booked. Arrived to check in and they had no record of my booking. I handed over the email confirmation but they couldn't find anything and had no rooms available as they were booked out. They advised it was Wotif's issue not theirs and sent me on my way to find another motel up the road. I'm currently waiting on a reply from Wotif to see what happened with my booking as everything seemed fine via Wotif and I've booked this way alot in the past and had no issues. I was travelling with my young son and was upset to find they didn't have my booking. Would be very reluctant to book there again.
adequate for our needs.
Friendly staff, clean unit, good shower and comfortable bed. We would use this motel again.
Not good value for money
Locality good, room clean and tidy but large increase in room rate over my last stay 12 months ago.
Great value for money in central Auckland
We often stay at the Siesta when coming from Wellington. They are not flash but also not expensive, and their rooms are spacious with cooking facilities available if needed. We like them and will be back
Comfortable motel near to hospital/broadway
Motel that is close enough to walk to hospital without having to overpay the AK prices.Provides off street parking
Overnight stay.
A very pleasant stay.
Good stay
Very clean and tidy. Very small unit with little privacy
Nice motel close to everything
Great location. Excellent communication and friendly staff.
A very enjoyable stay thankyou, there was some rubbish under one of the beds however. We experienced a short power cut, staff came to reassure and inform us that it was a street occurrence.
Not good
Staff not very welcoming, cleanliness of room disgusting, condition of furnishing terrible etc etc
Siesta
My friends and I were in New Zealand for The World masters games and we spent the first 6 days of our vacay here and we enjoyed it. Staff was friendly, they provided everything we needed, room was clean and lots of stuff to do within walking distance.
One night
Although a bit dated, for the price the room was a good size & clean.
We found our accommodation disappointing, as two of the windows could not be locked, hence anyone would have been able to enter our unit. Especially one of the windows was next to the entry door . The curtains were mismatched and only net curtains cover half the windows in place and some were damaged or ripped. We think we got bed bug bites from the bed we were sleeping in the main bedroom.
Booked last minute and they were able to accomodate. Great price! Safe parking! Very accomodating staff;
Very good service and tidy motel
Awesome service very tidy room really enjoyed our short stay at this motel. Gentleman at front office was very polite and helpful.
Good bargain
The hosts are very responsive. I checked out outside the office hours and requested a GST receipt later that day, which was mailed to me within the hour. Great service.
my worst nightmare
Nothing was right we had to pay for breakfast and got 4 pieces of toast and one butter and four spreads the next day we got 4 butter and one spread , the next day we got 2 butter and two spreads. i found 2 hair clips on the carpet when we arrived i put them on a spare bed they stayed there until i put them in the bin the whole place is old and not clean the curtains are miss patched and the light comes through them we had a road frontage room which was very noisy, I would never stay here again or recommend it to my friends .
OK Motel
Clean and comfortable overnight stop. Good parking and facilties.
Was extremely annoyed & disappointed that upon my arrival (6.30pm) l was told that my booked room had been given extented time 2 previous occupants as l was not due to arrive until 8pmish... REALLY... this made me think the worst !!! but l was able 2 use another rooms shower 2 get ready 2 go out & my room would be ready upon my return... It was... but there was a dirty used towel on the floor in the bathroom which was upsetting knowing the length of time it took before l was able to check in - it made me realise your standards are extremely low !!! Also having that central seated area, made it a commune for all noisey drunks to congregate after their night out on the town so made for an extremely noisey rowdy night till the wee hours ofmthe morn... close to 5am in the morning...
Convenient location
Checked in before going to a concert at Western Springs Stadium. Sat on the deck in the sun having a few coldies. Uber to the concert. Uber back. Sat on the deck having a night cap. Nice relaxing experience.
conveniently & clean hotel
amazing to relax after long hours flight journey
Very disappointing, needs lots of maintenance, no bedlight or cabinet, couch had lumps/no springs. No shampoo or soap in bathroom. Front door lock and handle were loose. Water in shower was good. Would not recommend this to anyone.
Not good.
Unable to check in till 9pm as there was still someone in the room - never come across this before in years and years of travelling. When I got into the ròom, the smell of air freshener was really strong - as this wore off, the drink of cigarette smoke became apparent. This was extremely unpleasant. The room itself wasn't too bad but the ashtray small was awful. The curtains were thin and the security light fron the office shone right on the bed. If it hasn't been so late at night and pouring with rain, I would have looked for somewhere different to stay.
Old run down motel
E even though I booked a room for 3 adults there were only 2 towels 1 face cloth and 1 hand towel in the room. No toiletries at all 4 tiny pots of milk etc then I was charged $40 more than what I expected. Definitely won't be going back
excellent
clean room convient room access ideal overnight stay
Upstairs in the rain with kids, what fun that was. The deck was slippery. The bed spreads were from the 1950's as were the beds. Parking was too tight if you had to park down the back. No wonder there weren't any pictures of the rooms. When the neighbours smoked outside, because the doors and windows didn't seal properly, the cigarette smoke came inside. The dishes were dirty.
Run down and musty smelling
Staff not very attentive - if you could find anybody at all. Reception seemed closed or unattended, was even all locked up at checkout time 0815! Room and furnishings very shabby / run-down, not very clean and smelled very musty. Mould, smell and no ventilation in bathroom... and they called this an upgrade! Whole place looked markedly different to anything in their Wotif photos.
More like a back packers
Unclean bathroom with grime in shower. Charged twice for room and had to wait for refund into my bank account. Very run down. Looks like no effort has been made to keep up basic repairs. Disappointing.
Cheap for the night
Very basic, we were literally only sleeping there so it was ok for us.
All i can say is the location is good
First time stayed at this hotel, i arrived at 2.15pm and my room was not ready.....so i said to the motelier that i'll pop out to do some shopping. The bed was hard being a slat bed, the door to the bathroom was stained, dirty and rough on the bottom of the door. In the kitchen there isa crack in the window. the carpet stained, cigarette burns.
Very tired, badly maintained, mould everywhere. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone
Astounded
Have stayed as this place on weekdays for work for the last 8 weeks or so. Today I was phoned to confirm my booking and then asked if I would like to share my room with some stranger at a discounted rate of only $90 per night instead of $110 per night. Absolutely shocking customer service. Never again will I use this hotel. I've put up with the faults in this place to date (blocked shower drain that would overflow if you showered too long, cigarette butts found under the couch in the room, abysmal hot/cold running water, general cleanliness etc etc) but that was the final straw.
worst motel I have ever stayed at
when we arrived we were put into a room that had blood on the duvet, we were then laughed at by the lady when we told her and then were but into another room.. a family room that had a massive crack in the door, the windows didn't shut, there were yet again marks on the duvet. Our room was not made up after the first night of staying there and didn't get given any toilet paper, coffee or milk for the next day just 2 clean towels thrown on what I take as the couch and then over the day must have slip off onto the floor Finding someone else's hair sitting in the drain of the shower and someone else's hair wrapped around the "clean" face towel provided is one of the worst things anyone paying for a room could find. we ended up cleaning our own bathroom just so we could shower and feel clean about it I am disgusted in the way your motel was run from the minute I called to say we were lost when the lady hung up on me while I was talking to her to the minute we left.. shutting the door on the worst motel ever was the highlight to our trip. we drove 9 hours from Wellington to stay with your motel and we were so very much let down, I have used the recommendations of Wotif many times an if I was you I would not be having this on your site
Great basic no frills motel, would recommend!
Had everything I needed, and the service was great. Internet connection was excellent, that's a problem I had encountered in motels/hotels all over NZ, but no problems at the Siesta. Stayed there twice! Great no frills motel. :-)
Wouldn't stay again
I felt dirty staying here, If my stay was refundable I would've gone elsewhere. Chipped dishes, previous visitors rubbish, dirty facilities, 2 towels for 5 ppl and unable to get hold of reception when we wanted more.
Avoid if possible
we booked this motel due to the unavailability of our favourites. We now know why this was vacant. It is BADLY in need of a clean and paint.Kitchen light globe blown, cobwebs everywhere and the toilet had to be cleaned before we felt comfortable using it.When our bed was made the first day it looked like it had the covers just thrown over it by a lazy teenager. In a third world country all this would be tolerated but given the other options in auckland we won't be back.
What a shocker!
Only good thing is the handy location. Rooms old and tired. Staff can never be found and speak minimal English. No iron or ironing boards in room and had to look around storeroom with a housekeeper to find one. Only ironing board had no legs. Reception doesn't open until 9.00am so o-one around if you need anything.
Not wonderful
Unfortunately the room was a bit stinky and damp. Decor mismatched and bizzare, broken toilet seat. Couch bed unsleepable. Shower pressure amazing though and double bed very comfy. It at least looked clean even if it didnt smell that way. Staff friendly.
A bit of noise from other occupants. Each time the unit next door was occupied my TV cut out. No signal. As soon as they left it worked again. Raised my concerns but no one came to investigate.
Poor stay at Siesta
Not good .no sink to wash dishes .wont be staying again .
Stay somewhere else
The motel had no record of the booking but did eventually accept that we had booked and paid when we showed expedia receipt. The room stank of cigarette smoke despite it being a non-smoking room. The room was shabby - carpet and furnishings cheap, worn, and poor quality. The curtains were gossamer thin and innefective at blocking light from neighbours and street lights. The shower was broken and required someone else to hold the shower rose. Despite advertising as having a kitchen there was hardly anything in the way of cooking equipment. The bed was hard but also sagged in the middle.
Never again
We turned up and went to book in only to find that apparently wotif hadn't notified the motel. We got showen to a room that accommodated the 4 of us. To find out we will be changing rooms the next day. So we had to pack up our gear (we were booked in for 5 nights) and take off before 10am and weren't allowed back until 2pm. Only to find out 2nd room was crap. I comfy couch , snowy tv, rubbish under the bed, mouldy shower, dirty floor, fridge had broken seal so didn't work properly, and wasn't cleaned from last people so it smelt! They never replaced our towels until the 3 rd day or emptied our rubbish we had to ask for toilet paper and clean towels. The mirrors were dirty an the Windows, they told us we were messy, but as we were all adults in a tiny room we didn't have any places to put our stuff. It wasn't food mess or anything it was just normal clothes and shoes. We was he our own dishes so it wasn't that either! The cutlery and dishes and fry pan were dirty and there were only 2 bowls and 2 plates. 1 saucepan 1 frypan, and a couple of utensils. There was food up the wall from where other people had cooked !!!! Would never stay there again !!! Would have loved to move motels but couldn't get any other accommodation in the area that wasn't under $400 a night!!!
Average overall
Booked a deluxe family apartment, there was 4 of us they left 2 towels and 1 face cloth in the room and staff didn't look impressed when I asked for more. Was nothing like the photos portrayed. So much more I could say but I definitely would not stay again.
Do not stay at this motel
The pictures on the internet do not reflect this motel at all. The rooms are not clean and are tired, dirty and moldy. Ants came and visited us all the time. Room service did not happen despite being promised it and after asking and asking it still did not happen. These are just a couple of things that we were not happy with. We would not recommend this motel at all
Not electrically safe
Smelled mouldy. Had mould on windows. Unsafe electrics not plugs. Melted light fittings
did not stay there long enough to comment as we were there for just the one night.
Probably the worst hotel stay I have had in mylife
First of all the parking was a nightmare. It was so tight I had to make multiple turns just to get in the correct position. Also the parking did not coincide with the room itself so it was a little trek to bring our luggage to the room. Upon entering the room it smelt like stale rice which I thought was disgusting. The bathroom was filthy with mould around the sealing of the shower as well as hair on the tiles and some type of muck behind the sink tap. The toilet was not properly sealed to the floor allowing movement whilst on it. The toilet scrubber had brown muck in it. I'm guessing we all would know what that was. The curtains were so light that it kept no outside light out. The walls and the ceiling both had shoddy paint jobs which made it look like a cheap unit. When we first arrived at the motel we had to wait at least 10 minutes for someone to greet us. Overall the motel sucked. You really do get what you pay for.
Very misleading room description
Our room had been described as "Premium" and renovated but was certainly not even 3.5 star standard, let alone Premium. We had booked for 3 nights, but only stayed the first night and checked out the following morning and arranged a refund for the other 2 nights. It was located in the main building, so may differ in condition to the motel units. There were some reasonably new chattels and accessories but these were contradicted by the really tatty dining seats and dirty marked walls and curtains. There was a lot of mould in the bathroom and some in the bedroom which we considered to be a health hazard and complained to management about it. The next day I also found I had several flea bites. I would not recommend staying in this motel and it was certainly not worth the price charged - even the discounted rates!
Budget accommodation but convenient location
I chose Siesta Motel because of its location and it was reasonably priced but it wasn't great. The room smelt of cigarette smoke; the bathroom was terribly cramped and awkward; the fridge was unplugged when I arrived and when I opened the fridge door it flooded the kitchen area; there were few kitchen utensils or crockery and some of the dishes and cutlery were dirty; and the room was cold - I found a musty spare blanket in the closet and a heater that barely generated any heat. It seemed run down and not well maintained.
Sufficient in need of updating and upgrading.
Inexpensive. Easy access to Newmarket and shops. Facilities fair. Decor needs upgrading. You get what you pay for.
A unexpected stay
Our stay was excellent
Wish I had have looked around more
Family of 5 stayed for 2 nights - the first room we were given was cold musty and damp downstairs so we were given an upstairs room which at least was warmer and didn't smell. The first night we were there some people below us partied all night - walls are paper thin and we asked them several times to keep noise down - they weren't abusive or anything but I don't think the management did anything about it as they partied the second night as well at least it stopped at midnight this time . Some of the electricity plug points have been taped to the walls and God knows what they wash their sheets in- smells like nutmeg - won't be back - my recommendation the photos don't tell the truth - go elsewhere
Poor standards
Ants ... Need I say more? Missing or not working lightbulbs; 3 plates, bowls etc in a unit that sleeps 5; in winter the only bedding on the beds was a thin duvet with only one spare blanket supplied (but 4 beds in unit) so we froze. No power outlet in bedroom so couldn't plug in the electric blankets or heater
Good clean budget accommodation
The motel was clean with basic features expected on this budget. The bedroom had a heater and electric blanket but the rest of the apartment was quite cold (winter).
On where NOT to stay!
This place was extremely discussing and will not be returning or recommending any time soon.
Could be MUCH better.
Nice cheap hotel, close to shops etc , just abit out dated and in need of a clean. Room wasn't ready when we arrived witch is no biggie , but it wasn't finished either when we did get into it..I would recommend this to others as it is cheap and handy good for that but I do wish the owners would just polish up its rooms alittle.
Disgusting and irritating hotel.
It was a horrific experience staying in this pathetic hotel only due to the staff. Tv has no channels , wifi is limited - doesn't work , to cap it off there is only one guy who is hotel staff , and he doesn't listen after 9 pm. He was rude unhelpful , arrogant and very irritating. It is the worst hotel experience of my life after travelled across 17 countries.
Would definitely stay here again, handy to shopping and takeaways, also train station not too far away
Parking layout was a bit weird. the motel suited us as we had business in Newmarket so it was an easy walk or short drive.

A very good experience friendly staff clean rooms Quiet location easy to find and close to the city
Facilities: Modest; Service: Courteous; Cleanliness: Neat; If you are looking for a good value motel near Newmarket with a car park this is a great option. I will definitely consider staying there again.
good experience in a big city
room was clean. Bathroom clean except the shower. There was only one towel for 2 persons. the motel felt safe and friendly and overall good.
Siesta Motel | Home in Auckland | Travala.com
Great motel in a convenient location and a good price have been staying here for years the rooms are clean tidy and warm with easy parking the staff are also nice
