Great size room with excellent views of the sea. Hotel looked a little tired especially the pool and carpeted areas. Not withstanding this we enjoyed our stay here

Had a great time! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The botanical garden is just amazing- opening the balcony door and seeing that every morning made it that much and more!

Great hotel in a perfect location. We had a marina view room which had wonderful views. Pool and pool area inc bar was very good with ple ty of loungers and umbrellas. Resturant was excellant and so were all staff. Great hotel location for walks trip pickups and other bars shops and resturants. Would highly recommend.

Great hotel, right on the marina and just a short walk from the busy esplanade with the shops and restaurants, the room was large, the pool was a good size and warm. The restaurant looks out onto the marina, were we watched the boats leaving while at breakfast.

End of Year Escape to Cairns

Excellent hotel, great location. 10 minutes from the airport So close to many quality dining options. As well as the night markets, main shopping precinct. Pool is great. Our 3rd trip to Cairns, 2nd time staying at the Shangri La and would again. Highly recommend.

Lovely location and views

We stayed at the Horizon Suite - the views are beautiful. Service at the reception was also excellent. A fair few things to improve on: 1. The hotel furniture/washroom fixtures etc all seem very dated and need immediate upkeep. Even very quick fixes like chipped drain blockers seem to be missed 2. The bedroom of the horizon suite was really small; much smaller than other suites I have stayed in and didn't have a TV or even enough plug points to charge electronics. It's one of the hotel's more premium rooms so it definitely should have these amenities. 3. The pool area washrooms similarly need urgent renovation - there were towels scattered all over the floor which made it look more like a public toilet than a Shangri-la washroom! 4. Service at the breakfast restaurant was subpar. We had ordered the barista made coffee and were in a rush - the lady serving us seemed annoyed to have the extra work. Even really simple things like bringing the bill to our table Vs asking us to go to the counter mid breakfast to sign for our coffees..

Location is great and within all the amenities. The staff is very friendly and highly recommended

The location is outstanding and the restaurant is superb. The property is gorgeous. There was not enough space to hang damp towels or damp swimsuits and stingersuits, but we were given fresh towels whenever we requested them. There were two screws sticking out of the bathroom wall that looked like they may have held up a towel rack.

Great room and even better staff. Very close to everything making it easy to get around and explore.

Really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a great position and we had a marina view room. There was an over the bath shower in our room which was awkward to get in and out of. Beds were comfortable. Pool area was well laid out, plenty of loungers but is definitely in need of a refresh

Great stay, staff were excellent, room was massive, pool was great. Certain parts of the hotel were slightly dated but other than that it was fantastic. Location was perfect, only 5 minute walk from everything. Would highly recommend.

The view, location, food & service was outstanding. We spent one week there and the close access to the ferry terminal made all the difference to our stay.

Everyone at the hotel went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. We had an excellent room which we had upgraded when offered to bid for it. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed the activity of the harbour. Access to the hospitality lounge made life easier for breakfast and drinks and canapes later in the day. Car parking was taken care of by valet parking. An easy hotel to stay in. There was nothing we disliked.

Our room was a little worn as in curtains didnt close property. The door on cabinet wouldn't close completely. The staff were friendly

Great location. Expected more from a ‘resort’, rooms dated, need a tidy up. Uncomfortable couch and sparsely furnished, cabinet door would not shut. We had a view of a rusty door and a shade cloth area. Balcony small and a slight view of the marina if you stood in the one spot and looked sideways. Noise from other guests at all hours. Television in the room is quite old. Had to take the batteries out of the remote and shuffle them to get it to work. Pool area is nice. We ate there the first night… food was not great, didn’t eat there again. Turned a/c off in our room as it was freezing, however cold air still came through. Cleaning staff were fantastic. All in all a Bit disappointing and probably won’t stay there again.

This Shangri La is getting old. The bed is dated squeaky and old, not as comfortable. I hope they would renovate and make it right. Location is excellent. It is near by many thìngs.

The Hotel is a remodeled shopping mall so I had to walk about a mile to get from the front desk to my room and half the stores on the ground floor are vacant so it looks tacky.

Getting dated and tired Horizon club facility was good Restaurant shuts at 21.30 Room service ends at 22.00 So if you arrive late like we did it’s not good

This hotel is no 5 star any more. It is badly in need of renovation and they are short staffed so service is poor

On the city side of the hotel it was too noisy with delivery trucks backing in at all hours- u could hear toilets being flushed from other rooms- the fridge in 2025 was too noisy- plus drip tray had to be emptied each day

Shangri la

Staff very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping excellent, daily towels, soaps etc. Even left a note to advise couldnt get to room as we had do not disturb but if called would come back later. Dining superb, breakfast to die for.

Was not the standard of other Hotels that I have stayed at. Outdated and not very clean.

Very thin walls and floors constant noise from neighbours . Also took a long time to be checked in , had to remind them We were waiting well after 2pm check in Apart from that we were happy with our stay.

Cairns Marina stay.

Location was great. Great spacious room overlooking the marina. Staff across all areas were good and very responsive. Club area was a good option with a wide food selection for both breakfast and early evening drinks. However property is looking “very tired”.

Absolutely outstanding experience. Highest recommendation for this hotel. My parents were absolutely delighted with everything here. Outstanding food/room/drinks/facilities/location and especially customer service. I don’t think it can get any better than Shangri-La Cairns. Don’t hesitate BOOK now..you will not be disappointed. Would give 10 stars if I could!!

The property requires some serious maintenance

Excellent location on Esplanade and Marina.Lovely cafes and restaurants nearby. Fabulous pool area. To be honest, we found Cairns city area not very nice, quite shabby, so was lovely to stay at a lovely hotel right on the esplanade...we just stayed in that area and kept out of the city area.

Beautiful gardens, very friendly staff, room very comfortable, and well stocked. Overall a great place to stay. Found staff couldn’t do enough for us helping to make our stay very enjoyable.

Close proximity to the Esplanade and restaurants. Also easy access to the marina and transport to Fitzroy Island.

The property itself is well situated with plenty of eatery and shops. The room we had was very small and not set at well. The very small lounge is placed along side the tv which made it impossible to watch, so you had to watch tv on your bed, so that made the lounge useless. Two small drawers to put clothes in and a small hanging area. So I felt like a slob putting my clothes over the lounge making the room look untidy,cwhichbi don't like. The worst part was having rice in our bed, arent beds supposed to be clean before new guest arrived. Also fingerprints all over the cupboards very visible for my old eyes. I will say the staff are lovely but I wouldn't recommend due to how small and not as clean as it should be

My stay in Shangri la Cairns was great . From the Reservation Agent to Housekeeping, everything was professional and satisfactory . May room was clean, large and with great view ! many thanks to the reservation for the upgrade! Hosekeeping Tammy and Daisy did a great job keeping it clean! Thank you very much ! many thanks to the very nice porter, sorry I don't know his name but he works in the afternoon and he is Italian he work on Sunday 12 pm when c/out I do believe that the right employees make the business successful and definitely that was during my stay See you next time

This property is advertised as a 4-5 star… it is not anywhere close. Maybe in its day it was tops. But those days have come and long gone. It’s a three star at best. I travel 135 days a year.

Service is fabulous, room was extremely comfortable, although due to climate needs some refreshing. Very good facilities, restaurants are excellent. Health centre is a little on the sparse side & a very small room for what’s in it.

Safe broke 3 times, very annoying

i cannot fault the staff, or cleanliness in any way. very good and what would be expected by a Shangri-La property. i was very disappointed with the physical building and the state it was in, built in the late 1980s, and it doesn't seem to have changes from there. needs a full renovation, inside and out. Unfortunately, i cannot recommend, nor will i stay at this property in the future unless renovated. i stayed at a competitor's property the week previous at Port Douglas, the building of a similar age, but has been renovated, there is no comparison between the two. however - i repeat the staff were great, and the rooms very clean.

Transport by bus to the many tours was very accessible. Many Various options for eating out . Hotel was beautiful with a great restaurant attached .

We selected this property for its proximity to the marina as our plans included an excursion out to the Great Barrier Reef. We selected a room with a view of the marina. It was fabulous to awake to the sunrise with the boats in the foreground. However, there was alot of pedestrian noise in the evening until very late. The hotel is an easy stroll in to town and to the walk along the promenade. There are many restaurants located right beside the hotel. We did try to use the pool on two occasions, just before dinner and and again after dinner. However, we found that the pools were filled with children , having lots of fun, but causing nearby adults to be splashed. A heads up. The hotel has a beautiful foyer . Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We did notice that the hotel rooms and hallways were a bit dated and in need of updating. We were disappointed with the shower in our room. There were several areas of black mold on the grout. When we turned on the taps , the fixture was rather loose and it felt as if it might break off. Overall, the location was scenic and it fit the bill for a 3 night stay.

Quite old, room curtains full of dust. Booked a king bed room , got two singles together. Staff very friendly but you would expect more from a Shangri-la on facilities etc.
