Overall good hotel Bit far from city but subway 5 min walk
Their staff accidentally broke a face cleaning tool in our room. Their manager tried so hard to reach out to me because I don't have local phone number and kept asking for how they make it up. Later they bought another one for us and also brought a bag of mooncakes as a gift to us. So friendly and considerate to customers. Will stay again in future for sure. 5 out of 5.
staff was all friendly. Recommend
Foods at the restaurant too expensive
Good service; walking distance to public park
Everything is better than my expectations
Great service
The staff and services are wonderful! Best Shangri-La experience I have had so far.
Huge swimming pool, lobby and nice garden. Very friendly and professional staff. Breakfast buffet was also good, so overall almost a resort feeling while stay here..shielded from hustle bustle of Beijing
Old building
front desk was helpful
I like the location of the property, very convenient. Decor is little old fashioned and out of date. The attitude of people working there is not great. Especially the restaurant, there’s no service unless you keep asking. Even for some thing simple as adding more drinks.
Good hotel and good services
Great hardware, terrible software. Unprofessional staff (receptionists, restaurant service staff and concierge desk) lacking training and basic courtesy for the hospitality industry.
Comfortable and executive.
It was impressive, will come back.
The room was advertised as renovated, but it was quite old. The carpet was dirty and stained in spots. The tv was barely unable as it was incredibly old. The air conditioning controller was old and hard to control. The washroom was excellent. Most of the restaurants and amenities were closed. Breakfast as part of my room payment in the same wing as I was staying in was unavailable. We had to walk to the older garden wing for breakfast.
Perfect except Checkin
Everything was perfect except the ridiculous check in. This is the first time in my life a hotel requests to block exactly double the amount on my entire stay on my credit cards!! Be reasonable my whole stay was 6K something and they blocked 12K. I know it is my bank problem that they will keep it blocked for more than a month! But what if I'm staying for more than that !
We liked their mattress and pillows and loved their Buffett!
I booked a non-smoking room but was given a room full of smoking smell. Upon my complaint, however, I got a replacement; this time a non-smoking room. Although I am happy with the final outcome, I wish they had done right the first time.
Business stay
Staff were very good. I was there with a colleague for business and they were very helpful around transport etc. The bed was very comfortable but overall the rooms are looking tired. Great location for our main meetings not so good for others. Will stay again.
This is a well known 5-star hotel chain. However, my experience at this site suggests that better staff training and better maintenance of room facilities are required. I stayed in a luxurious suite on the top floor. However, I had problems with my shower, bathroom sink and toilet. Wifi was also very unreliable.
Clean neat property. Very friendly staff and service.
The staff were professional, courteous, and over the top generous! They allowed me to check in, and out, early. The rooms, restaurants, and facilities were all clean, modern, and luxurious. As well, all of the staff spoke English very well!
The best aspect of the hotel was the excellent staff and the services they offered. I also liked the lobby area , it was well kept and was beautiful.
We liked everything. The room was good, the staff were most helpful and the gardens are delightful. We will certainly recommend it to our friends.
The staff of this property is great, the room is very clean ...
Excellent hotel in all ways. Very kind and helpful staff.
the check-in process was horrible, we got harassed by security people and we waited for a long time without assistance.
This hotel is one of best i have stayed. The food was awesome and I recommend it highly.
Good for family
Good place. Check in was bit difficult. Communication was biggest challenge in China
Nice location. Room is a bit small and old. Bathroom is too small. A bit pricey without breakfast.
We have been to this property several times. We were assigned to a room in the old building as usual. We are
An older property; rooms are small; not much places to go nearby.
Missing reward nights
Wonderful stay - however my Hotels.com account only gave me credit for some of the nights. I stayed for a week!
aweful 5 star.
no bathrobes. roon i aged. apprantely they Have a new building and a old building. if you book through 3rd party say hotel.com Or expedia. they will put you into the old biilding. the breakfast buffet is aweful but yet cost 40 dollor. help yourself to eat outside please. the hotel has three entrance which confuse the taxi driver when you call for a lift. the staff is not helpful. also.the wine at the open lounge is aweful and they tey to get you pay up front.
Lovely property but very limited access to nearby restaurants or shops unless you take a taxi
Very nice, hotel staff actually sent me an email and told me I left something in the room
Great hotel
Great location. Very friendly service. Good breakfast. Worth the value! Will come back next time
Good location for business
Always stay and service is great at front desk, etc!
experience shang gri la beijing
room not that clean , may it old or mold on basin is hard to cover for it bing old rater just not clean moldy , room staff are ok , f & B and lobby receiption not that fabulus , dirty uniform ... , wonder if they wash their uniform of person just dirty it ... ???
Hotel Stay in Beijing
The hotel had great staff, very clean, good rooms, good lounge and they looked after us very well. Would recommend.
Very comfortable, beautiful landscaping, great facilities - swimming pool and large fitness center.
Most comfort bed, friendly and helpful staff, convenient service.
Location not the best but great hotel
Excellent concierge staff who helped arrange visits and cabs. Could not have asked more if them - all very friendly and helpful as were restaurant staff. Location - bit further away from city centre and Beijing traffic is busy. But hotel lovely to stay in. Excellent breakfast buffet which I got more out of once helped by the Sikh chef who pointed out all veggie options - much appreciated
Modern hotel
Nice hotel, friendly staff, clean room. Delicious breakfast.
very nice overall, but room had a weird smell
Very good environment, clean air and water, people in Beijing are nice and friendly.
Staff are very friendly especially to the kids. We had a good time. Thank you
Highly overrated
Tv did not work for duration of stay room service came in 1 hr and terrible food. Staff not very friendly
Great hotel in Haidian area
Hotel is nice, helpful staffs, and clean. However, queue management at check-in counters can be improved.
Great hotel!
It's a hotel which We would stay anytime! Excellent service, staff very helpful, extremely polite and couldn't do enough to look after us! Highly recommend! The room was very cleaned, reception always with a great attitude to help! Beautiful garden!
Old but value of money
Building is old but maintained 5 stars service
Perfect stay as always! I would only stay in shangrila Beijing.
Definitely earns a 5 star rating
Beautiful hotel, staff is very accommodating, the concierge services especially. Bed comforter was thin, I had to double up.
Very nice hotel close to many universities.
This trip is mainly to visit Universities in China. This hotel offers a convenient location for this purpose. Overall this is a very comfortable hotel to stay. A large lobby area is good to meet a group of people.
Elegant upscale hotel
My husband and I stayed here 3 nights recently. It’s a beautiful hotel with a lovely back garden (Shangri-La, perhaps). The staff and facilities were great. We especially enjoyed the swimming pool. Mostly Chinese clientell. HIgh-priced restaurants in the hotel, but there are others within walking distance. A drawback is the location - you need a car or taxi, as it is not near a metro station.
Excellent location and very convenient.
Excellent location and very convenient to reach other places within Beijing. A great place for conducting businesses and meeting friends. Lovely garden from the hotel.
Amazing hotel
5 star hotel at its best
Shangri-La is my favourite hotel chain in Asia!
I have stayed at various Shangri-La's around Asia, and the Shangri-La Beijing did not disappoint. Smooth check-in, good service, comfortable beds, nice room, and the all you can eat lobster brunch was excellent! Recommended for a trip to Beijing!
First time stay in Beijing Shangri-La, great experience, and enjoy the stay. Lobby Coffee shop is great place to meet
Nice room but bad breakfast.
The breakfast costs more than $40 US dollars but the quality is on 40 Chinese yuan level. The omelet they make is not omelet at all. The bacon is hard to chew. If it is normal for them because they are not good at making Western food but even the Chinese food there is horrible. The steam bun has no flavor. The wonton soup is so greasy and taste like the leftover. Other than that, the room is clean and comfortable. The staff is nice and helpful.
A 30 years old Beijing Home Sweet Home Shangri La
This hotel is 30 years old. I have stayed in this hotel so many times since 1987. It is the best hotel that keep a unique standard of a five stars. It is so old but it's has keep his uniqueness. Anyway the hotel needs to fixing up. However everything in the hotel still function well. Like the Chinese restaurant the coffee shop is great but it closed very early which does fit the Shangri La business and family style. We arrive at 10:00pm there is nothing to eat except room service. We used to be able to enjoy a late super. But we no longer have an opportunity. The lobby lounge is still good place to hang around after a nice dinner. Everything is wonderful like old memories but super over priced. Three cups of tea cost about 100.00. With the atmosphere maybe it really worth. Next time you give it a try and let us know. While I still it a five stars and five happy smile is because it feel like home a 30 years old home in Beijing. My first home in Beijing. You will get what you think is good in Beijing Shangri La Hotel.
Good hotel but I would rank a 4*
Good standard hotel . Service not quite up to the standard of other Shangri La hotels I've stayed at.
It was a little far off from the city centre but otherwise, facilities were great.
Everything and everybody are nice.
The staffs are ver helpful and very attentive to details.
Lovely and clean, staff were excellent its a little bit further out of the center of Beijing
It was a good stay , no big complains. The room were I was staying was kind of humid but they had a dehumidifier ,so not a big problem. The problem was when checking out, we were not refunded the full amount after deducting our expenses, so we are still checking with our bank, even the amount was not big but this is our right.
Was a fantastic place to stay - fab service!
Great check in and that set the tone for the whole stay. I upgraded to the Valley wing and am so glad I did because that really made the stay amazing - included breakfast, happy hours, tea and coffees and overall was great to have a lovely room in which to work and also spend time together.
Nice hotel, lovely staff
Hotel staff prounounced my name correctly and were attentive and incredibly helpful
nice hotel...
My stay was great, except a minor thing like like if guest put "DND" do not disturb sign, then ur house-keeping group cannot call in asking for "need any house-keeping", I've out for the whole day & when back very surprise to see that room is already been tidy, even thought I've put the sign "DND", this shouldn be like that & respect what customers prefer...other than that everything was fine...
Very Disappointing
Had opportunity to visit three different Shangri la's on this trip. This was by far the worst. Location could not have been any worse and not sure why anyone would chose to stay there. The staff weren't of the same service caliber and had multiple issues with food service, broken coffee pots, delayed and wrong cocktails, food tables not being cleared etc. English skills also not as good as other properties. Rooms looked a bit dated and not much to do in the common areas, big deal as you are basically on side of a highway. Would not recommend. Spa was the sole exception. Lovely experience.
Terrible location, just ok hotel
Not a great hotel. Terrible location with no services. Lots of service issues in the hotel. In general the hotel felt very dated compared to other Shangri La's
Good price for the brand
Pleasant stay but furniture are old in the old tower.
Great service but old furniture in old tower
Great service and food as expected in Shangrila. Only complain is the furniture is "antique" given current newer hotels in that area at same pricing. I'm staying in old tower FYI and they have a newer tower.
Walking distance to the places where I go to visit on business
Decent choice for Beijing visit
I've stayed here a few times over the years and it's a very good, well equipped, hotel. If being critical I'd say that in some areas the building is showing some minor signs of wear and tear now and that service wasn't quite up to the very high standards of earlier trips. But this is comparing to a high bar I experienced on earlier visits - still a very comfortable stay and would happily stay here again in the future.
Excellent hotel
Exactly as you would expect from a shangri-la hotel, everything was immaculate with a shopping mall, oriental garden and spa. Service was exceptional and always friendly. We checked in early with no issues and received a free upgrade.
Comfortable and convenient to Beijing's third ring
On checking in, we were told that we were booked in the Garden Tower, which was an old structure from 1987 and showed its age, and were encouraged to upgrade to the Valley Tower, that was only a few years old. I was surprised at such a significant disparity in the condition of the two towers, especially at the Shangri-la. I am glad we upgraded as the rooms in the Valley Tower are spacious and well appointed. From a walk-in closet to a bathroom with a TV built into the mirror, there are a lot of delighters. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. I didn't have the opportunity to eat at the hotel so I can't comment on their food service.
Best hotel I have ever stayed
I have stayed in handful 5stars hotels around the world, this is hands down the most comfortable hotel I ever lived in. Good service Good amenities Good location
Too far to thé places of interest.
Thé staff members have a lot to learn in English communication...terrible TİME wè spent to make ourselves understood in all topics! Thé rsvtn made via Expedia way NOT properly given and wè were offered different rooms then wè expected,no matter moře superior!
Convenient for my needs.
Was a reasonable commute to the airport and not too far from downtown. Suited my business needs. Hotel was beautiful except for the rooms which were a bit tired looking. Carpets especially needed some tlc. Buffet was very expensive so didn't bother eating there. Breakfast not included with room - US$40 was a bit spendy for my budget.
Solid Beijing Hotel
Very nice hotel in Beijing. Buffet restaurant gives oyu lots of choices, but is pricey. All in all, it';s a very nice hotel. The rooms are very comfortable.
nice. good location.
good
it is good, the facilities is too old and the carpet smells.
gorgeous hotel needs a little TLC
Beautiful hotel with amazing hotel First 2 nights I was in deluxe king Room needed updating. Third night I stayed in tower and that was amazing. Do not miss the spa. I had a massage and it was the best spa treatment and most beautiful spa I have ever been in in the world.
Nice Hotel
Hotel is clean and a fairly good value if you have business on this side of Beijing. Room was spacious and comfortable.
In Northwestern Beijing
This hotel is convenient for anyone doing business in Haidian or the universities (Beijing, Qinghua, Renda). It is not overpriced. The hotel has a very good gym and spa. Staff is very nice. Buffet breakfast and dinner is quite good. Complaint: hair dryers are in the desk with a very small mirror--can't be used in the bathroom. Very inconvenient.
Super size motel
The staff is wonderful and the facility a little outdated but still good. The breakfast is not to shangri la standard at all. Over all it is ok for the price but I would not stay at this location no more.
Noise within the hotel is an issue
The hotel staff are friendly and professional. But the guests are noisy, in the lobby, lifts and rooms. The guest rooms need better sound insulation. I could hear the shower in the next room and children playing in the corridor, especially early in the morning.
Very modern and comfortable
The reception and bell staff was great. Room was clean and modern.
Well trained staff, nicely decorated
The hotel has well-trained staff, professional, effective and welcoming. Close to major universities in Beijing.
Wonderful rooms, excellent customer service.
My seven-day stay at Shangri-La was wonderful and everything I expected from a 5-star hotel. Another nice perk was that in-room wi-fi was free. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only minor downside is that the hotel is located about a 20 minute walk from the nearest subway station. Another tip -- there is a nice local supermarket called Uni-Mart located about a 5 minute walk from the hotel (exit the front entrance and make a right) where you can get any food/household items for relatively cheap prices.
More appropriate for business
Rather out of way to where activities are if you are a tourist. From airport to hotel is very long distance at opposite ends through the city network. Be prepared for traffic jams
Fabulous service!
My partner booked this hotel for my birthday while in Beijing. Wow, the service is unmatched from the moment you exit the taxi to sitting on your bed! Well deserving of it's 5 star status & more! Everything you think you need is catered for. The spa & pool facilities are luxurious. The staff were so attentive, it was noticeable. Surprisingly on my birthday, they presented me with a cake & card completely free of charge and to the surprise of my partner as well! It made the stay even more amazing, loved it. Free wifi in the rooms with no login required, views of the city in a free upgraded room on the 21st floor was a wow!!!
Shangri-La, Beijing
An excellent 5-star hotel, everything is well done. The location is a little outside the main activities of Beijing, but was close to my business so, all up, an excellent stay.
Great staff!
Location to far from city and resturants very expensive, but staff was very helpful and friendly!
Nice Hotel - Not near attractions
Good place to stay for a Shangri-la experience close to Peking U.
Outstanding hotel: service is world-class
This is an outstanding hotel, made so in particular by the exceptional quality of service. The concierge desk is a case in point, as they went out of their way to not only make me feel welcome as a guest, but more like a member of the family. Justin, in particular, was particularly exceptional. For example, he organized my getting a local cell phone (including sending an individual to the store with me!). When I left my ATM card in the hotel lobby ATM machine, he seemed more upset about it than I was, and ensured that an attempt was made to retrieve it by the bank. But the best example was at the time of my departure, which took place after an unusual amount of snow for Beijing. He called my room earlier than I had planned to leave saying he was "worried" I might miss my train, since due to the snow there were fewer taxis. When it became clear I might not find a taxi he went and got his OWN car, and drove me to the train station. There weren't any spots to park there, so he put on the hazards, jumped out of the car, and began to carry all my bags above the slushy street until we arrived at the station. To top it off, when we were about to separate, he handed me 2 RMB for the train fare and wished me, his "friend", on my way. So that's the kind of service that will be bringing me back to this hotel next time I am in Beijing!

First class customer service. All staffs speak some English. Communication is smooth and simple. If you're first timer to Beijing, this is the place to stay .
