Great location Big place Clean I love this place.
It's a very dirty place, since the entrance. Towels are more grey than white. Rooms, and bathroom are not cleaned daily. Curtains are broken. Living room has not receive maintenance for years
Good in general
Location was wonderful! We walked everywhere. Lots of shops and restaurants. The suite was spacious. We loved that our two boys got their own small bedroom with comfortable twin beds. The living room furniture is a little old and the place felt a bit dusty but all in all we loved our stay!
The room was okay but checking in was an issue. It wouldn’t have been an issue if we could have been e-mailed a code beforehand to get into the building Also the phone # was useless as we hadn’t found a cell store to buy an Israeli SIM card yet. The amenities such as shampoo & lotions were nice as was the jacuzzi tub but we had to ask for bowls, utensils & cups. We bought our own dish cloth & dish soap as there was none there. We had to ask to have the floor swept. There wasn’t a broom in the room. We weren’t told that there was a Disco adjacent to our room. On 2 nights of our stay the music was so loud we had to leave the room at 1:00 am as we couldn’t sleep it went on ‘til 3:00 am. We are okay with a bit of street noise but this was really too much!
bad experience
noisy, bad service, dirty, confusing employees, terrible check in experience
Central location to lay your head
I primarily use Hotels.com because the guest ratings are usually fairly accurate. However, they missed the mark on this one. This hotel offers a central location to great restaurants and activities but falls short on most everything else. There is no lobby...so checking in is challenging. The price is less expensive than most but the furnishings are badly worn. Paint chipping from ceilings, sliding doors that dont properly lock and the inconsistency of hot water make this hotel a little sketchy.
Excellent Location
The room was spacious, and in good condition. No front desk and very little interest in being attentive. We ended up using another Hotel to arrange car service to the airport, finding a COVID19 testing location for our return trip and getting local information. This place is great for an extended trip if you are very familiar with the Jerusalem area.
VERY DISAPPOINTING
Awful....no hot water, no lock on outer door, hall light did not switch off. 3 hangers in tiny wardrobe for 2 people. Not enough cutlery. Not enOugh towels. Safety deposit box broken. Crumbs in the cutlery drawer. Described as Deluxe!! It was less than basic! Meant to have a front desk/concierge, this was non existent. In a busy street, very noisy, we could not sleep as there was noise outside until 3am. We checked out after one night....one of the worst places we have ever stayed in.
Great stay
Location was ideal for being in the heart of activity. Right off the pedestrian mall. The room was comfortable with great air conditioning, great natural light, and a strong shower. Room cleaning and towel change was a bit sporadic but the on-site employee will respond quickly to anything you need. Secure lock on door. Large safe in room. There were no hangars origanally but staff quickly remedied that.
Property is in an excellent location, staff was friendly and accommodating, apartment is spacious and comfortable. The couch could use an update but the mattresses, blankets and pillows were comfortable and clean.
Smelly room. Cigarettes... Not clean enough. Perfect location
Poor place to stay
Bad condition, seemed like it haven't been cleaned for months. Strong smell of cigarettes
Last night at 2:30am five police officers raided our hotel room. They didn't knock. They entered without warning using a room key (found at a crime scene) to enter the room while we were sleeping. They questioned us and noted we were lucky they found the key before the people they were looking for. It is completely unacceptable we were provided with a room with a missing key. The hotel should provide better security to its customers,
The room was dirty
The roon was not clean at all אפילו לא שטפו את החדר לפני שהגענו
Dirty, and very bed management not worth the money.
Great location in Jerusalem
Very nice and clean room in Jerusalem new city, about a 15 minute walk from Jaffa Gate (the main entrance to the old city.) The room that I had is similar to a junior suite. There is a living room and a kitchen but the kitchen just has a sink, fridge and microwave -- no stove. The room was cleaned daily. There is a coffee shop right in front of a hotel and a mini market right next to it. It is located on one of the main pedestrian shopping streets with lots of different stores. Across the street there is a club with an outdoor terrace that is used as a dance floor on certain nights. Depending on which way your room is facing, this could be noisy, but my room was facing the back, fortunately. The one bad thing was that the reception was unmanned at 7:30 PM when I was trying to check-in. I had to make a phone call to get someone to come. Another evening the front door was locked and I did not have the code. Had to make another call to resolve it.
Wonderful
Amazing
One of the best stay values we've had.
We absolutely loved this place. Everything was perfect. Great location, clean, spacious, cozy bed, friendly staff. We arrived before check-in, left our bags for the day, and when we returned in the evening, bags had been taken to our room for us, which was fantastic. Thank you!
It worth the price
Really good location. Friendly stuff at check-in. However, room is outdated (paint is coming of the walls), marks on the walls, couches in the living room look old and not clean. The biggest disappointment was that there was hair on the sheets and dust near the bad as well as feathers (from pigeons?) on the balcony. I didn't feel comfortable in the room as felt it was not properly clean.
The hotel is in an amazing location, the staff is very helpful and our suite was very big and clean. Definitely recommend!
The apartment was HUGE. A big bedroom with full-sized bathroom, tv, and air conditioner; a smaller bedroom with two twin beds and air conditioner; a big living room with tv, air conditioner, a fold-out couch, another chair, a table; a full-sized kitchen with regular refrigerator, one burner, plates, silverware, pots and pans, counter to sit at. A balcony. Room cleaned every day, including on Friday and Saturday; towels changed. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant so there is no buffet Israeli breakfast but it is centrally located in a fun district with lots of restaurants and stores. I'd return.
This is a very good place to stay
We enjoyed our stay at Shamai Suites very much. Our stay was for four nights. The value was excellent: very comfortable and clean comfortable bedding, nice washroom, kitchenette and sitting area too. We found the staff to be helpful and polite. BTW, you cannot ask for a better location in a very vibrant part of Jerusalem. I suppose that like any other accommodations, if you look long and hard enough, you’ll find imperfections. This place is no different. But for whatever blemishes there might be, we highly recommend this hotel/suites for your stay in fascinating Jerusalem.
Friendly staff, very tight lobby but rooms are spacious and had a very quiet rest. Fair pricing given the proximity to the New Gate.
Very nice place in a great location! Would stay again!
Simply recommend
Simple. Cozy. Convinient. What else do you need?
Excellent location, easy check in, comfortable bed, helpful staff
Nice hotel on an excellent location. Friendly staff.
Very good place for visiting Jerusalem
The location is great, not far from the Old City, with a very lively neighbourhood with many restaurants, cafes, shops etc. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Please note, that outside there are restaurants and a hostel with an external cinema, so it can be loud until late night hours. If you're a light sleeper maybe find another place, but if you sleep easily after a whole day of walking around Jerusalem - this is a great choice.
Helpful staff. Clean well equipped room. Very satisfactory given price. Location excellent. Rather noisy outside in the evening. Would stay again
Service was horrible, but location is great.
Service was horrible, but location is great.
Nice room
Enjoyed a very comfortable, nice room!
Great location
Hotel location was great, we were upgraded to a larger room (thanks Dima and thanks for your help), the bathroom could use a little work though. We really enjoyed our first time to Jerusalem and this was a perfect walking sport.
The location is amazing; the apartment is clean and comfortable. Super recommended!!!
Location is great but property is outdated
The location of the property is convenient as its close to Jaffa Road, lots of shops and restaurants around. The property is big enough to accommodate 2 people. The shower room needs updating, dirty and needs a thorough cleaning. We decided not to turn the lights on whenever we use the bathroom to avoid seeing the moulds.
Excellent and would encourage others to do the same
Highly Recommend
Excellent
Location! Right in the heart of Ben Yehuda St which has plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, and entertainment.
Fantastic
We were in contact with the hotel a couple of days before checking in as we needed help arranging a shared taxi to the airport on our departure from Shamai and they couldn’t be more helpful. We were staying in a nearby hotel which was part of the tour we were on and the move to Shamai was as different as night to day. Shaman upgraded us to a 2 bedroom suite, with the lovely main bedroom having an en-suite. There were top quality amenities and a fully equipped kitchen. Loved the roomy bathroom and big shower. Good area for shopping and restaurants. We left some items behind and Shamai are posting them on for us. Wonderful staff, wonderful service. Can’t rate them highly enough.
There was no storage space in 2nd bedroom. And only small wardrobe in main bedroom so if 4 people stayed there they would need to live out of their suitcase. In the main bathroom there were no hooks for towels. We were put in a two bedroom suite which was very clean and spacious and I would definitely stay again with the above additions. The staff on reception were very helpful. On the 2nd night there was water leaking from the ceiling into the bathroom and we were told the water was being turned off and we were NOT to use the water. I called Expedia yesterday (morning of check out) and the person I spoke to was incredibly unsympathetic and offered a voucher for 25%. The manger/owner of the hotel was a lot more understanding (we checked out early as we couldn’t shower in the room) and advised he’s extending a 50% refund on the 2nd night accommodation by way of an apology for the inconvenience. Please advise receipt and arrange refund asap.
bad reception
exapt of bad atitud of the woman in reception to us when we just arived at almost midnight the room was clean an ok. also not even apologhy from them . also insist to take from us 17% tax altough i showed her i already got confirmation i paid all and know one at hotels told me to pay again. its not ok and i told its beter to wait for morning. and she say that she cancel my room if i not pay immediatly. very recepionist and bad attiude to customer. i will not forget.
Good location near good food and shopping. Friendly staff and helpful. Clean and quiet.
Good and Bad Location
We had a deluxe suite that was large with a good kitchen area. The location was good and bad: good since it was close to the Old City and many restaurants and markets near the Old City, but bad in that it was next to a nightclub and on a pedestrian mall that was noisy.
The building inside not taking care of, need painting. The entrance little hall is not good decorated like nobody cares. Very small and old lift The room was clean, have a microwave, a kettle . The bathroom is big with everything I needed , The day I arrived no body was at the front desk I was very tired and i needed to wait more than 15 min, until a kind a hippy woman arrived, the desk was dirty even she had a roll of toilet paper on it , she was not very nice, didn't care about anything, not a small smile. Next day was different, when I came down was a young man with a uniforme, he was very nice,I ask him about an address and he explained me how to arrive at. In the afternoon was other young woman very kind, she order for me a taxi, She was very nice. I'was happy I din^t see anymore the first lady when I arrived, really not nice person.
This hotel is located within steps of the best nightlife and shopping areas of downtown Jerusalem. We were very happy with it.
This property was brilliantly located and the staff were great. I rate our room 3-star. It had a grotty bathroom. The bathrooms our friends had were refurbished and ours wasn't. We unwittingly sacrificed the refurbished room for a bathroom with walk-in shower, rather than shower over bath. The lift in this building was a joke, only fitted 2 or 3 people, or one person with suitcase. The deck off our room was filthy, and looked out over backs of buildings and you wouldn't have wanted to use it. Opened it occasionally for some fresh air. The property was redeemed by the helpful staff, and great location. The photos on the website look better than the actuality.
Suited to our expectations
Enjoyed our 6 night stay.
It was a pleasant and well locared hotel. The reception personnel were all very welcoming and helpful. Plenty to see and do just around the corner. Tram stop 4 minutes away.
We were upgraded to a two bed apartment which was spacious and in a good condition. In a pedestrian street full of cafes and restaurants and near bus and tram stops. Be aware that it is opposite a lively hostel which is noisy at times. It could do with a little updating to make it really special but we did enjoy our 5 days there.
The reception staff were excellent. They were extremely helpful with providing information about tours and booking the Nesher shuttle to the airport. Although the apartment was comfortable, there are one or two things that would significantly improve it: - a toaster in the kitchenette - someone to check regularly for minor repairs - eg. leak under the sink and broken trim on shower door.
The place has everything I needed. And people are friendly and tried very hard to help me. The room had a smell of chemical cleaning something.
The location is perfect. It made getting around easy.
Location great. Staff were friendly. Property is ran down, furniture works but old, floor was a bit flooded after shower due to leaking problem, you can hear neighbours talking
Shamai Suites - Very Sweet
Clean, comfortable, well equipped, great service, great location, and a reasonable price. Could not ask for more.
The bathroom door, thr light switches could do with a clean. There was crumbs all over the high chair in the kitchenette area. Even when my room was cleaned during the week they didn't clean and chairs. However the quilt and bedding were nice and clean. The towels were clean.
Although had dishes, no dish towels. Hot water was not working on last evening.
The location is very central and convenient, but that also means that it’s pretty noisy outside at night. And the place is dated, and I am afraid the sheets and towels have had too many miles on them and that should be retired long time ago...
A nice and comfortable hotel in a good location.
An apartment building turned into a hotel. No lobby to speak of and reception only available limited hours. The rooms are actually suites. Some even offering 2 bedrooms. Kitchenette, Shower, WiFi, Lift (quite small...). No parking and no breakfast, but plenty of both nearby. This is far from luxury, but offers a very nice and comfortable stay at a reasonable price. Place is quiet but the restaurant downstairs emits scents in the evenings.
Clean, very comfortable bed. Shower was good. Reception was helpful. As I need to go to the airport on a Sabbath Saturday, they helped to arrange a sherut pick- up for me. Much appreciated.
Very nice and comfortable, un the best location at Jerusalem. Near the oldest city and the good ambience there! Absolutely recommendable
I have been travel the world for many years, believe me this is the most supportive and kind staff we ever met. Thank you!!!
Great location!! Clean and comfortable! Loved being walking distance from many restaurants and shops and interesting sites!
Great place in the dead center of West Jerusalem. And great value.
Solid suite, decent price, great location
Solid suite arrangement for decent price. Great location. Very helpful staff (especially Amos)
Terrible hotel
Booked as it was rated high. Small lift, tiny lobby, receptionist doesn't even smile. No one at night , You have to use buzzer. Rooms not cleaned properly, stayed 4 nights, they didn't change the bedding, last day they changed the duvet with a stained one. Bathroom rusted with mold and old towels. Got upgraded as original room was not available to deluxe, still bad . Will never stay there again.
Very good location! Have room service coming in every morning to clean the room. Looks exactly the same as the pictures.
Super location, we are returning guests and choose to stay here as it is within walking distance to transport, food and tourist sites. Friendly staff and good size rooms.
I have been coming to this property for years. Always pleased. This year I made 2 reservations for 2 different times.I was not sure which time my clients would prefer. Once I knew I cancelled the second date. For some reason Expedia did not recognize or see the cancellation. Once I briught it to the attention of Expedia they tried to convince Shamai to refund the first night. After 10 years of loyalty , Shamai refused to refund the one night
Everything about this hotel was great. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful with whatever question I had. The room had everything we need plus more and it was cleaned very well everyday. The view from our room was also great.
No one at front desk! Horrible service because of that
Very modern, clean, studio room. Very very central.
.Location excellent, staff friendly There was a lot of noise at night from across the road from the cinema hostel it kept us awake with the music being played until the late hours. I will be looking at alternate accommodation next year. I have stayed at this accommodation for the last five years and it will be a shame to have to look for different accommodation.
Good location - fair value
We came from 2 nights in Tel Aviv which ridiculously expensive so it’s hard to judge this hotel with other Jerusalem hotels as this is the only one we stayed in this city but the price was less and the quality was better than Tel Aviv - it’s boutique with a very tiny elevator and no staff at night - but that not what one needs - it had a fridge was across the street from great bakery and right beside ben yahoda street the main walking street of the Jewish area (new city?) and only 10 to 15 minute walk to the old city - would stay there again
Great location terrible bed. Loud...
Awesome locatiok. Great staff. Terrible bed. So uncomfortable. Two uneven double beds they put together. So loud outside. You could hear sounds all night long.
The faucet head had black mold all over it, the bathroom had cockroaches, but what was most disturbing is when I turned on the a/c fan unit I was blasted in the face by a strong ammonia smelling cloud of vapors. Luckily we were only there for a night. I have had a migraine for the last 36 hrs that came on soon after the a/c experience.
Very clean, great location 1/2 block from Ben Yehuda, and the room service cleaning and staff was impeccable! We had 3 rooms for 4 nights. We had 2 small issues that kept the rating from being a 5: 1) the phone in one of the rooms did not work, and they did not fix even though we reported it the 2nd of our 4 days, and 2) we had a 3” flying cockroach in one of the rooms at 9pm (2 girls in this room), and the front desk girl was scared of the cockroach, said the shift was changing, and the new shift person did not help. The girls could not call me because my room phone did not work. These are small issues, but do point to a need for the hotel to better train their staff (or maybe pay for better staff? We did not see a staff person the entire time that looked over 25-30. Maybe they need one older person to guide them?
Place is excellent. It’s in the center of new city.
Central suites hotel
Nice suites hotel in the center of Jerusalem close to many sightseeing. Clean and with a nice reception team.
Great location. Staff was friendly. Room amentities worked properly.
Great central Jerusalem stay at a great price!
Great clean and centrally located hotel in Jerusalem. The rooms were very nice and service was great at check-in. They accommodated an early check-in and even provided an available upgrade. Room was lovely, great AC. Dozens of restaurants and bars within a 5-10 minute walk and the Jaffa Gate is only a 10-15 minute walk! Perfect stay for such a low price!
It s an ok hotel but the room was really good and the location could not have been better it was great for our Jerusalem plans I would definitely stay here again next time I go to Jerusalem
value of money
the hotel was as I expected good enough and clean, the area was quiet, smooth stay....recommended
Towels notbproperly washed. I did not complain but as I am stdying there tomorrow night I will mention it. I sm sure the hotel will fix this immediately. Very good place to stay for a short or long vacation
location is great, clean and comfort
Great location with loads of nearvy food option for breakfast and whole day. Big suite with good air con and plenty of space.
The place is very comfortable, central, has good service and clean. It is equiped quite modestly though and at night there is alot of noise from the pubs down the street....we stayed during a weekend and it only became quiet at 4 a.m- not the best for a family vacation.
We had to use the stairs to go down from 5th floor
Elevator is super small, and is used for many things. We had to use the stairs to go down from 5th floor with our luggage Location was great walking distance to all. They forced me to pay VAT because i didn't have the little paper from the border control, didnt know i was supposed to keep it...
Fantastic Surprise!!
What an amazing “surprise” and an unexpected fantastic experience! The location was IDEAL and even though it may not be full of “bells and whistles”, I am most definitely staying there again!!
Great clean hotel, right at the beach/downtown.
For the price, this hotel is really good. Location is right at the beach, and staff were friendly/helpful. Definitely recommended. No complaints. Clean and safe.
Very good helper at the front desk. Convenient to many things in Jerusalem.
center of Jerusalem
a good place in the center of jerusalem
Overall it was alright. The room was clean and got the job done. The service was a lot to be desired because there was a power outage and no person at the front desk late at night. I sent an email and got no response. The power came back later in the night, yet i never got a response from anybody about the situation.
Excellent location, very close to the old city and to the train station. Big apartment suitable for a family of 5. The only issue was the noise from the street late at night, coming from the restaurants and bars.
That's a very nice hotel in a very nice location
Great hotel. great location good staff. clean and very nice
Comfortable stays
Location is good, restaurants are around the corner and walking distance to old city. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Amazing apartment
Amazing apartment near old city. Friendly staff. Rooms very big and clean. Really enjoyed stay
Fantastic location and helpful staff
Wonderful location ... positive experience. Since I needed to be able to do computer work, then brought in a desk for me to use.
Amazing! Best Location!
Shamai Suites was amazing! It's in a prime location! Walking distance to the western wall, the central bus station, ben yehudah, machane yehudah, and lots of eateries! There's a pizza hut right next door that we frequented a lot! The front desk was very helpful and friendly in providing information! There was Room Service everyday! The room is quite small, but for the price it is definitely worth it! I would definitely stay at Shamai Suites again!
Shamai Suites Jerusalem | Hotel in Jerusalem | Travala.com
Fair value but right across the street from a raucous hostel that offers a party deck that is VERY NOISY late at night. Also, no front desk or reception staff, you have to call someone to enter building which means you need local phone service on mobile phone.
