BOOK SOMETHING ELSE

This hotel needs an intense renovation urgently. Its mainly used for big bus tours bringing in travelers for a quick stay, lobby was filled with 100 people when arrived. 2 elevators were working very slow. the dinner / breakfast room is massive, loud and uncomfortable. The rooms are old and in bad conditions. the first room i saw was stinky (old cold cigar smoke), the second smelled artificial to cover up something, but i had no choice than to take it. The shower was disgusting, black mold everywhere. i would have stayed somewhere else, but Jerusalem was booked out.

The hotel is located in a quite residential area which was good for us since we traveled with a car and searched for an hotel with parking (which was free and had lot of it, unlike other hotels which only have a few parking spaces available). The hotel is a bit dated, which mostly reflect in the bathroom where the hair dryer and soap dispenser turned yellow with age... the room was big, the beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. As other reviewers mentioned - the elevators are slow and in poor condition, one of the 2 had broken floor tiles, but they do have signs announcing upcoming construction work to remodel them so that would probably be a non issue soon. We had breakfast there during Passover and it was good but nothing special, I'm guessing it's better during the rest of the year when they can serve bread/pastries. The staff was very nice. Overall a good mid-level hotel with a decent value for money.

Nice Hotel shame about their policies

The Hotel is a very nice budget hotel with a very decent size rooms. The staff are very helpful and pleasant to speak to. The rooms are well maintained and some have been recently refurbished. The hotel is not in a central location so you would either need a car, use transport or taxis to get around. The Hotel is quite dated and the lifts require some modernization. The only negitive thing I can mention is about their policies. If you are planning to travel in November time (as I did) when the evenings turn somewhat chilly and especially with a child. The Hotel do not turn on the heating for the rooms till early December. This meant that when I was their with my 7 month old child I had to purchase a fan heater to warm up the room to ensure she didn't catch a cold.

Avoid at any cost

Pictures on their web site were beautiful so I booked the hotel despite its relatively low rating because I thought that remote location was the primary cause. Well, the pictures were misleading. It was the worst hotel I ever stayed in. We paid USD 775 for two nights for family room. The room was dirty and filled with cigarette smell, mattresses had ugly stains, linen was gray with holes all over and was half size of the bed, curtains had holes in them, and the floor and the carpet were sticky. There was not enough working elevators so we had to wait for the one we could squeeze in for 10-15 minutes. On top of it, our room wrapped around the elevators which produced loud screeching sound day and night which was heard in our room as if it was amplified by special equipment. It felt like sleeping on rail track. We heard it immediately after we entered the room and asked to be moved. We were offered a small room instead of the family size where the four of us obviously would not fit and when we asked for another family room, we were told there were none and got a free dinner instead. We ended up not sleeping for two nights we were there. I still have headache from two sleepless nights with the scary loud sounds; the kids are still recovering. It was out worst nightmare. This area around elevators should be made into a closet not a hotel room, and whichever problem causes this screeching sound with the elevators should be fixed. It's time to rebuild this hotel and clean it up.

Decent hotel, but terrible elevators

Good location for visiting the western side of the city. Close to Tedy Stadium, Malcha Shopping center, The Technology Park, etc. As the hotel is rather old... the elevators are terrible - small, very very slow, so you may spend long time waiting for one, and it takes decades to go down or up few stories.

A little out of the way, but ok hotel

Room and hotel were fine. Located in an orthodox area and seemed to be the hotel of choice for Jewish BirthRight trips. WAZE directions didn't lead us to the correct location, which was frustrating, but we asked passersby on the street and they directed us. Breakfast buffet was very big with lots of good options. Location was not great in terms of walking anywhere, but they provided free parking so we took a taxi to the Old City (approx. $25).

Older but comfortable, great breakfast included.

This is an older but comfortable enough hotel. The neighborhood is moderately religious and safe. Though not the closest to the Old City it affords nice views of modern Jerusalem over a deep valley. I watched the sunrise over the city a couple of times - beautiful sight! (I was jetlagged). They have a large swimming pool but we couldn't use it in winter - it's open to the sky, though surrounded by the hotel. The best thing - wonderful BREAKFAST included in the price from 6:30 to 10 am. Great choice of European/American or Israeli - cereals, cheeses, omlets, pastry, fish(!), fruit and local stuff - hummus, pesto et. There's also a bus stop right next to it.

Reasonably priced kosher and comfortable

The staff were very welcoming and helpful as we arrived late so they kept dinner open for an extra half an hour and took our bags up to our rooms. Food was lovely, as good as in any expensive hotel. Breakfast buffet is a real experience with salads, croissants, eggs, even omlates and ice cream one one morning. Beds were very comfortable and we had a door between the rooms so it was like having a flat for the family. Only drawback was the distance from attractions, but for the price you wouldn't expect to be next to the Kotel. There is also building work next door, but it didn't bother us as they start work only at around 8am and by then we were always up.

Not a good location

Not a good location unless you have a car in Jerusalem, which we did. Hotel is too far out of the town centre & not well located for the buses/trams. Overall the hotel needs refurbishing. It caters for large groups such as school groups and tour groups. Requested a cooked breakfast - waited in line in the queue for 30 mins - unacceptable. We had 3 in the room but the fold out couch was abysmal, our daughter slept on the floor on the mattress from the couch. Would not stay here again.

Very satisfied

Overall we were tremendously pleased with our stay at Rimonim Shalom, the room was very clean and very comfortable. We live locally in Jerusalem but wanted a night out away from our house and kids, so we got a babysitter and went on vacation! the location therefore made no difference and since we have a restricted diet, we didn't make use of the complimentary breakfast though we did go down to check it out and were quite impressed by the assortment of hot dishes, salads, breads, spreads, and drinks. the showerhead neede to be replaced but the pressure was fine, that's our only issue we encountered, otherwise it was superb!!

too old to be what it used to be

The Rimonim Shalom is an older hotel in need of new beds, better front desk staff and upgrade of their food. While most of the country had amazing food the food in this hotel was uninspired at best. The beds were uncomfortable and the location is far from most sites and driving in Jerusalem is not for the faint of heart. The one redeeming feature was the dining staff they were friendly and remembered our preferences each day and it is only cuz of them the rating was not lower. The worst aspect was the spotty over priced internet.

Stayed for business trip. The bathroom wasn’t clean. Remains of old toothpaste in the sink, bathtub with stains. The surrounding area is now under constructions and a lot of dust in the air. No stores, restaurants or coffee shops in the area since the hotel are located in the middle of a neighborhood.
