Perfect location, very friendly stuff, great room designs, great food. I highly recommend it.
Beautiful boutique hotel with a lot of charm. Quality breakfast. Excellent location.
Cute place, parking is a plus
Location is excellent, bathroom was large and very nice. Room was a bit small, but that's normal for hotels in Europe sometimes. Very good breakfasts, too. Overall, I had a good stay and I would highly recommend this boutique hotel.
Very accomodating with pets.
A lovely hotel with nicely decorated rooms. We love the location of it which is super convenient to explore Vilnius.
Pleasant Hotel
Great location in Old Town, very quiet. Room was large and clean with modern amenities. Breakfast was basic, fruit and various breads with jams with plentiful coffee/tea. Everywhere you want to visit is right on your doorstep.
Property advertised there was a roof top terrace on high was the main reason for us booking the hotel but after arriving was told it is only open during breakfast for a very limited period of time.
Charming hotel with old world charm in the heart of the Old Town.
Lovely well located hotel. Good value.
Hotel had character, well presented, very comfortable
It is nice and easy stay
Had a lovely stay at your hotel. The rooms were comfortable, the staff fantastic and the Breakfast...Outstanding! Thank you!
The location is wonderful, right in the heart of the old town. However a major problem was that the bar and restaurant were permanently closed.
Pleasant, quiet and relaxed hotel on a side street steps away from the main boulevard through the old city centre. Clean, friendly and helpful staff, with plenty of books to enjoy, and a wonderful breakfast. I have nothing negative to add. Would recommend and stay there again.
A good find.
Very pleasant hotel, lovely (free!) breakfast and excellent old town location. Only gripes were the lack of electrical sockets in the room (please provide some extension leads) and single room key (please provide a second key or code).
Good Hotel Near Old Town Center
Intriguing hotel short walk from Old Town busy street with lots of restaurants and stores and sights. Hotel desk clerks affable, especially Martynas with whom I had a long, charming conversation and Danil, who offered good directions and tour advice. Found Londris Laundromat, a long but doable walk in Uzupis area, 8€ combined cost for one wash and dry, and necessary after 11 days of travel Room, first of 3 hotels that had CNN, refreshing for an American to keep in touch. Has refrigerator and good shower with ribbed floor. Oddly, took 3 requests to get extra rolls of toilet paper (just in case). Breakfast cost extra, so happily slept in. Warning. Learned that 2nd floor rooms are not served by the elevator. I was on the first floor, but if you have heavy bags and are on that floor.... I'd keep that in mind when booking to demand 1st or 3rd floor room. Safe in the room. Easy to program code. Use Bolt to get to and fro. Cab can stop just outside the hotel. Overall, strong recommendations. Wanted to add photos, but add photo button didn't respond
Bardzo dobry stylowy hotel.
Stylowy klimatyczny hotel. Czajnik w pokoju.
I have no idea where such good reviews come from.
This is the worst service I've ever seen. I have no idea where such good reviews come from. I'm sorry, but I can't recommend your hotel in any way. You declare yourself as a 4-star hotel. The Wi-Fi did not work at all in the first room. The lights were only turned off completely. The night light was useless. There was no bottle of water in the room. The other room also had poor internet connection. Half of the outlets were not working. The phone was not working. I had to look for a place to turn on the kettle. The light above the bathroom mirror didn't work either. The staff said yes, it didn't work, and did nothing to fix it. The room cleaning is just awful. The wet towels have not been replaced. The bed linen has not been replaced. The floors were not washed, the dishes were also not washed and replaced. Are you serious??? What I paid the money for for three nights
Not bad but could be a lot better…
Generally a nice hotel but needs improvements. We had two rooms and one of the rooms the bathroom wasn’t cleaned on a daily basis. On one day the breakfast service was pretty terrible - a small plate of very sad looking fruit salad left. The two ladies on duty spent more time stood hiding behind the bar on their mobile phones than serving. Two fruit salads and two scrambled eggs took over 30 minutes to be served. When I mentioned this to the front desk I was met with a ‘well 90% of customers are happy’ and then when I asked for some like to have with tea in the room I was told, because I’d complained, that I would be charged €3 for the milk. Noticeable that when he saw me later he retracted that and apologised but I’m afraid damage done and a sign of the poor attention to detail and customer service.
Perfect location in Old Town, all main sights walkable, lots of food options nearby. Staff were helpful and courteous. Room was good size, useful facilities like kettle with regular supplies. Furniture and decor made pleasant change from usual chain hotels.
nice quiet hotel. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. good location.
What a lovely and unique place to stay in Vilnius. Great location 👌 The room was fantastic!
Nice hotel
Nice and cosy hotel in the old town of Vilnius. Vintage style. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free car parking in the inner courtyard - real advantage.
The location is perfect everything within reach. Perfect for shops and dining. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful. The room was clean and veey comfortable. All in all a winner
Location and safe place
A FineValue
Hotel was very well located only 2 blocks from the old city main drag & cathedral/bell tower square. Hotel was old & badly in need of rennovation but the staff & service was fine. My room (Milton room) was old, musty & very dimly lit. All lights & tv were unplugged. The tv only works if the dim overhead light was on. Breakfast was nice…croissants, fruit, toast, juices, coffee. Theres a set menu you can use as well. The staff will gladly call u a cab but theyre not much help with activities. The tourist office is around the corner by cathedral square (green sign with “i” on it). Fyi…the picture of this hotel on this site is far prettier than the actual hotel. But overall a fine location.
A hidden gem of Vilnius. The hotel is located on the quiet street, just 2 minutes walk from the famous Vilnius Old Town. All rooms in the hotel are decorated in the unique style related to the famous people i.e. Churchill, Lev Tolstoy, Shakespeare etc. Rooms and the hotel common areas are cosy and stylish. I would only mention the soundproofing which is not ideal. We could hear our neighbours quite clearly. Everything else was perfect. I also need to mention hotel staff who is very lovely and polite and do their best to make guests feel comfortable and welcomed. Breakfast has a good choice of different foods from English breakfast to the traditional Lithuanian buckwheat and toasted eggs. All food tasted perfect and we really enjoyed it, even our picky 10-years old :)
Excellent hotel in a great location
Incredible hotel, full of character, lovely big room, comfortable bed, I was asked about the room temperature, it was comfortable for me. Excellent location, within walking distance for all the sites, would be a great stay for the christmas markets. Would definitely stay here again.
Home away from home…
Charming
The hotel is charming, tucked away very close to several excellent restaurants and bars. All the rooms are named rather than numbered and comfortable and clean. The shower was hot and the most powerful I have probably ever experienced. My only criticism, which was not their fault was Leo Tolstoy decided to make a prolonged phone call at 1 am every morning followed by a shower and the rooms are not at all sound proof on the top floor. Also the bar and restaurant is closed now so to gaze longingly at the cupboard of over 50 exquisite whiskeys over breakfast every morning....
Great location. Inhospitable staff.
Fantastic location. Worst check in experience EVER & we travel frequently. Mix up at the station & unable to locate our taxi, our coach arrived late & we ended up taking a taxi independently. Check in was appalling as a result - extremely rude & unpleasant. For reference, in 7 yrs this is my 1st negative review.
Perfect hotel with perfect location )
Convenient location. Great breakfast. Friendly staff.
Lovely size room
My stay was excellent. Location great. Room lovely. Breakfast excellent. And, service exceptional.
Good
Beautiful building, great location, walking distance to everything, large rooms a bit cold, but extra radiator made a difference. Breakfast area was romantic and the food to order from the menu. We had a great stay.
very nice stay and friendly staff. Brakfast was outstanding indeed
A true delight, especially for book lovers
We were ťruly surprised and delighted by this hotel - what a find! Quaint, comfortable, tucked away on a quiet, unassuming street but mere steps away from the sights. It was one of our favorite stays on our 3-week trip. Highly recommended!
Wonderful stay. Beautiful property. Amazing breakfast in gorgeous rooms. Aleksander handled mistake with room type first night beautifully. Rest of staff at reception and breakfast were great. Highly recommend. Hope to return.
Good alternative to chain hotels
Old world charm in the old town. Comfortable room, although decor a bit dated. Breakfast a la carte excellent. Staff friendly, location good, quiet, easy to find.
exelent location, breakfast, rooms styling
Charming quirky old hotel
Charming quirky old hotel in the old town. Nice staff and great breakfast
Amazing Hotel . Can recommend.
Very nice and quiet place, just in the heart of the city. Everything close. The service outstanding. Dog friendly. Highly reccomended
It was unusual and interesting to live in that hotel med every room without numbers but with names. The history around you with many pictures and books about person who’s name was on room. I liked it. The staff was helpful and polite, both in reception and at breakfast room. Hotel has very central location in the city. Thank you for everything. 😊🌸
Such a wonderful hotel and superb location Very friendly staff and very helpful Amazing hotel for good value Instead of 5Star we give a 6****** Definitely coming again Andy and Diana
Love the beautiful architecture and the breakfast. Excellent service.
Perfect location. Warm and friendly staff. Great bar
I really appreciated the heated bathroom floors and the varied breakfast. You had the option of ordering from the menu or from the breakfast bar - which had a nice assortment. The only negative is some of the room doors can use oil on the hinges. I believe it was the cleaners who early in the morning around 6am started opening and closing the cleaning closet - very annoying when you're trying to sleep. Otherwise, a great stay in a great hotel right in the city centre. Thank you!
Superb, friendly service. The location is ideal - close to the cathedral in the old town and quiet. Comfortable old building of character with a welcoming lounge and the best assortment of malt whisky I’ve seen in years. Good, served breakfast.
Ideal location, hotel had character, very good breakfast, helpful staff
Great place to stay! Nice and helpful staff. Great Breakfast. Cool decor. Great drink selections at the bar. Try some of the local digestives.
Shakespeare boutique
Really enjoyed Vilnius. Great country lots to do. The Shakespeare boutique hotel made the stay. Just loved the hotel. It surpassed expectations
Stylish and relaxed atmosphere Great breakfast .....
Old fashioned grandeur in a quiet and very advantageous central position in Vllnius's amazing old town district. Lovely bar and restaurant areas. All rooms with good bathrooms and literary themes.
Boutique hotel at bottom of main Old Town street
Overall charming. Especially a proper dining room breakfast. Check on the room booked - some are too small eg really small bed, small bathroom set in the attic etc. Laundry costs are extortionate for Lithuania yet they still somehow shrunk my t shorts!
Loved the setting in Old town, the room decor and atmosphere, plenty of room for putting things away.
Everything at the hotel was fine. The room was spacious and clean. Staff was welcoming and friendly. The breakfsst was delicious. Great location. We would stay here again!
The fact that it has a lot of character. Every room is named after a famous writer (I stayed at the Walter Scott room) and is quite unique. They even have a library in each room. The bed was wonderful, and the shower facilities up to date. The breakfast area is beautiful. Each dish has a unique name like 'pancake sonatas,' etc. Unfortunately, the dishes were OK but rather insipid. The pancakes were a great disappointment.
Charming hotel in the old town close to everything
Tucked away great hotel in perfect location
Awesome location. Good room. Liked boutique hotel and names of authors w books everywhere. Good champagne/wine stock. Good breakfast.
A nice and comfortable stay, but...
The hotel was nice and well maintaned although a bit cold - in Vilnius, morning temperatures were below zero (it was early May when I was staying in the hotel) but the hotel heating was off so getting up in the cold room doesn't count among my most pleasant travel experiences. Further, I was a bit dissapointed with the taxi service the hotel called for my transportation to the airport. When I arrived to Vilnius I picked the taxi at the airport taxi rank and paid 12 euros (and it was middle of the night so higher tarrife applied). I left hotel during the day and paid 20 euros for the same ride to the taxi the hotel called...
Vilnius great hotel
Great hotel and excellent location in the old town. The staff were friendly and good customer service
Cozy, charming, elegant. Large rooms. Comfortable bed. In the heart of the medieval old town. Very nice restaurant too. Nice and helpful staff.
The Shakespeare is an oasis of calm and relaxation to return to after a day exploring the city. Breakfast was very good with food cooked to order. Unfortunately we didn’t get to eat in the restaurant in the evening but enjoyed a nightcap in the bar. The bed was extremely comfortable and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was the warmest I’ve ever experienced. The only downside in the bedroom was the beams, while they looked lovely we had to remember to duck our heads to avoid bumping into them. Would recommend staying here if visiting Vilnius.
Good place to stay when visiting Vilnius
Hotel is in excellent location in Old Town. Room was fairly basic but not sure what double would have been like. Bathroom had bath only so had to wash hair over bath. Breakfast was extremely good, everything prepared fresh and you could even pre-order for it to be served at a certain time. Would certainly go back there.
Olde worlde atmospheric hotel
Very well located on a quiet street just very close to everywhere you would want to go to. Although it seemed odd to be going to Vilnius to stay in the Shakespeare hotel, in fact the rooms are named after a range of international writers. The hotel has been nicely renovated and oozes olde worlde charm. The bedrooms are very pleasant, if a little fussy with so many bits and pieces lying around you almost feel you can't really spread your own things out. The bathroom is functional but lacks the charm of elsewhere. However, what really makes this hotel are the communal rooms - a delightful dining room with good food served for dinner & excellent service too; plus the bar / lounge room is a really comfortable place to relax with friends over a drink or snack. An excellent a la carte breakfast is served too.
Originally a noble’s palace, then a printers’ building, later divided by the Soviets into apartments, the Shakespeare has been restored to a lovely, old world, very well managed hotel. The service - at reception, in the comfortable bar, and at breakfast and dinner in the elegant dining room - is superb. The food is also delicious and beautifully presented. A delightful experience, within walking distance of all the sights of Vilnius.
Great location, nice staff, very good service. Highly recommented.
Fab hotel... excellent location
So enjoyed this hotel. Best one stayed in for a long time. All the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for you. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent location to explore a wonderful city.
Hotel with character, well-sited
This was a hotel with character, with each room named after a literary icon, with a mini-library in the room to reflect this. Excellent food too, and whilst the hotel is very well-located, it's quiet and peaceful, down a small street. Would wholeheartedly recommend this place.
Beautiful hotel, great location, very friendly and helpful staff.
Very central and perfect for the Marathon.
The staff are great. Professional and polite. The hotel has two bikes and the ride I was sent on was a wonderful way to see a large part of Vilnius which would have been impossible to walk, although I did run it for the half marathon the next day! Which brings me to the position, it’s quiet although totally central to the old town, in the nicest pocket, close to the gardens and tower and 3 minutes from the start and finish of the marathon.
Enjoyed the charm as well as the location of the hotel.
Best hotel and restaurant combination
We enjoyed our apartment nice Victorian decor, spacious, exceptional amenities. The hotel and restaurant staff of the best I have ever seen. Kudos also to the chefs. Amazing stay! Thank you.
Very special hotel close to everything worth seeing.
I love this hotel! It is so nicely appointed and has a great breakfast and bar. The staff is friendly and it is located in a very convenient area of Vilnius.
Exceptional interior design, with authentic architecture style. Impressive room "decorations" create atmosphere of particular writer, poet. Very warm and cosy room as well as public spaces. Already second time here and amazed again.
Lovely boutique hotel in old town
Lovely, boutique hotel in old town close to cathedral square. Ideal location, friendly staff, wonderful food. Perfect!
A well-run hotel with an intimate feel
A lovely small hotel with a different configuration for each of its author-named room. So you never know what you get until you check in, which adds to the fun of staying in this hotel. We were given Room Trollope, which overlooks the exquisite St. Anne’s Church. The room is spacious and everything was in good working conditions. The housekeeping was generally good, though they missed a few minor things, like crumbs on the carpet and water marks on the toilet walls. We love the a la carte breakfast, which can be served in the room, which gave us some flexibility. There was a good spread of options on the breakfast menu and we could order as much as we liked. Everything was cooked to order and tasted great. We ate three times in the restaurants and the food was great and the service attentive. Well done, everyone in the hotel.
One of our favorite hotels ever
The Shakespeare Hotel is the perfect place to stay in Vilnius. It is centrally located in the heart of the city, with free parking, and the rooms are luxurious -- a fantastic value. The breakfast -- which you order from a menu! - was superb, and the staff was very friendly. We stayed in the "Trollope" room, which was spacious and comfortable, with spectacular views out the window. This was a wonderful choice for us, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Vilnius.
Excellent hotel.,we stayed in one of the apartments...lovely space, well outfitted. Good. Beds and showers. Highly reccommend Locatoin is superb. Breakfast better than expected at usual hotel Staff very helpful
3 Days in Vilnius
Perfect Location, reasonable price, friendly and helpful staff......good food and the breakfast....wow superb. I'm not sure you could want much more from a City Break. Vilnius has a small but beautiful Old Town which is where the hotel is located. It's near all the sights and the streets nearby have plenty of Shops, Cafes, Restaurants although the hotel itself is tucked away nicely in a quiet street. We loved it....If we ever go back to Vilnius and I hope we do then I would probably not even look to stay anywhere else.
In Old Town
Good value In Old Town close to good Restaurants Ie St Germain Very comfy Nice ambience Charming place
Rare retreat from busy place
This hotel is about as central as you can get without you trying to sleep inside the Cathedral. But it is also fabulously characterful and comfortable; you won't find the like of this hotel again in a hurry. To start with the rooms are NAMED not numbered. We had "Oscar Wilde". "Room" hardly does justice to our accommodation which featured a long gallery with hanging space and tea-making, then the sleeping space with enormous double bed, and of course a luxury bathroom with bath and shower over it. Breakfast is made to order, so please starve a couple of days before you get here to leave room for it. There is free parking, but it is a little daunting. The road outside is closed between 22:00hrs and 06:00hrs so you may end up breaking traffic rules to get here. Then you have an "entertaining" tight turn off a narrow cobbled street through a narrow archway; it is surprising how many door mirrors are collected by these posts each day [smile]
Great Location. Stylish
Hotel was in a great location. Close to the Old Town. Room was nicely decorated and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable. Had some trouble with water spilling out of the shower. Pressure was a little high and the curtain could not help but leak. Staff was very helpful. Restaurant was only ok.
Very nice place and excellent service
Very pretty boutique hotel within walking distance from all main historical sights in Vilnius. Lovely room full of character (their rooms dont have numbers, they have names). I found a few little treats on my arrival (nicely wrapped sweets and fruit) which I thought was really nice. The only thing I would change in my room was that old smelly plastic kettle. But overall nearly 5* experience. Would be happy to return anytime.
Cracking Hotel, Great Staff
I cannot fault the Shakespeare. Lovely hotel, nice, clean rooms and excellent staff. I have no problem recommending the hotel.
Excellent Hotel, tastefully and well decorated.
Very pleased with our choice, the condition and appearance of the hotel was first class, Staff were helpful and pleasant, food was of a high quality, excellent value for money.
Cozy hotel with amazing breakfast. Staff is friendly, polite and very helpful.
Amazing
incredible breakfast, nice staff, stunning atmosfere , ten out of ten
Excellent service!
Very pleasant stay : very kind and helpful staff, very good breakfast, romantic and traditional atomasphere. very good location, but away from busy street like a hidden gem.
A Quality Hotel
A coupe of initial issues were quickly resolved making the overall stay very comfortable and enjoyable. A character hotel in the old town, well positioned to enjoy the city.
vilnius
very close to old town, and the old town at Christmas is wonderful
Great trip to a great hotel
This hotel is in a fantastic location in the heart of Vilnius old town. Close to restaurants and bars and 2 mins walk from Cathedral Square and 5 mins walk from Town Hall square. The hotel was excellent - you can always find fault but genuinely it was silly stuff, for example the duvet was only as wide as the bed and didn’t go down (or even over) the side so when two people are in bed one of you ends up partially uncovered. That said, the bed was quite wide (prob 6ft) so we just moved closer together. Also one of our pet hates are small bath towels instead of bigger bath sheets but that’s just us. On our second night we were kept awake by a crying baby in the room next door (no ones fault, just life I suppose) so we asked at reception if the family were staying that night - they were so the hotel reception staff found us another room and moved us without fuss. The bathroom was clean and functional with plenty of hot water so no issues there. Breakfast was really nice and served to your table, not a buffet but you could order what you like. Overall a very pleasant and easy experience and I’d have no qualms whatsoever in recommending this hotel.
Highly recommended boutique hotel in Vilnius.
Very nice hotel in Vilnius Old town. Excellent breakfast.
Great location in the old town and easy to get to everywhere from there. Lots of restaurants and shops close by as well as points of interest to visit. Good breakfast- the a la carte offered a lot of choice, you can order multiple items off the menu, and was a change from buffet breakfasts.

The hotel was perfect for our 4 night stay - the superior rooms were excellent, as was the breakfast, the location & the city itself. The staff were polite & helpful & we would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone. The Shepherds & The Dodds
