The staff was friendly and efficient - I had an easy, quick check-in and they set up a ride for me to the airport for the next morning. The room was very clean, but hadn't been updated in a while, and the woodwork showed damage and wear. The bed was OK, but not great.

Room key stopped working before the checkout time, we saw a spider in the room and they wanted to charge us 5 euros per person when Expedia showed free airport transportation. Dinning option were nonexistent. Pub was good though.

Excellent for solo traveller's.

Very convenient hotel, ideal for a solo traveller, an ideal decent from the main attractions of Madrid and so on. Airport shuttle provided with a decent and friendly bus driver. The rooms were comfortable with a kettle, bath and shower available for the room. A lovely cafe downstairs adjacent to the foyer/reception. A pub is accessible adjacent to the foyer and reception too.

The employees were professional and knowledgeable. The rooms were spotless, if not very fancy (linoleum floors throughout). The breakfast was amazing - lots of great options. One shortcoming: the air conditioning for our room did not work. We had to open the patio door for cool air. But aside from that one flaw, I'd recommend the Senator Barajas to anyone who needs easy airport access.

It’s fine for the price

For the price we paid it met our expectations. Pro: large room, large balcony, comfortable bed, mini fridge, free airport shuttle (one piece of luggage per person), good water pressure, close to airport and public transportation. Con: the hallway smells funky, maybe because it’s a pet friendly property. No outlet by the nightstand. The balcony is a waste since there is no patio furniture to hangout with. The light on the patio turns on automatically and can’t be turned off until scheduled time. No fan available and room lack of air circulation. This is especially problematic after ac is off in the fall. Next door there is a basketball/soccer field that can be noisy at night, and prevent people from keeping the balcony door open for cool air.

Bed was squickig old matress made noises.all night.nite table worpt old.nothing to write with.no bath cap.200 plus euros waisted.never again.almost 300 one night!!!!!

Is terrible costumer services specifically a lady she was rude they don't put AC in the room just the heaters and is very hot because is not could and I asked for the air a conditioner and she say in this time of the year not used but why don't put a fan I never back to this hotel

The hotel had a horrible problem with the room ventilation. None of the thermostats worked in the rooms. Our room stayed at 85 degrees F even with the windows open. It appears that the hotel is under staffed which must have contributed to the staffs attitude. I do not recommend this hotel!

I have had better stays in the same price and star rating class of hotels. It was not totally bad though. I found the staff to be particularly stern ( not sure if it is the Spanish manner). I was assisted by one gentleman on my last night who actually smiled and was cordial and helpful towards me

Convenient place to crash near airport

This is the first time ever that a hotel has lost my hotels.com booking. Took about 90 minutes to check in and verify my prepaid booking. Having a free airport shuttle is great but it isn't 24 hours, so I had to take a 6:30 AM cab back to the airport. I'll choose a different airport hotel next time.

it took ages to get transport to and from the airport with buses only every 45 mins to an hour. Hotel was general tired and outdated. Staff were very good though.

Walls made of paper! We could hear EVERYTHING above, below and next door and all the way past 12h30AM. Bed was complete crap: I had springs poking into my spine no matter where on the bed I lat. Finally, the hotel advertises it has a free shuttle to the airport. Normally this means a shuttle passes by every 15-20 minutes. In this case, there was a shuttle at 9AM which was already full the night before, and the next shuttle was only 1.15 hours later, at 10h15AM. We had to take a taxi! What a SCAM!

Too hot to sleep in October.

Not sure what was happening but was a bit expensive. $400 a night when a week later was $60. If you are someone who likes to sleep in a room with a little chill, this is not the place for you. They turn off the AC in October. Room was warm and stuffy. It was difficult to sleep and there was no solution since they turn it off in the entire building.

Good location for a night’s stay before flight. Comfortable and a reasonable breakfast. Staff very helpful and friendly. A shuttle is available to the airport, but only if you have one piece of luggage. So we had to get a taxi to terminal 2. But that was only EUR 7, so very affordable. I would stay again if I needed an airport hotel in Madrid

The airport shuttle arrived as per the timetable. Short drive to the hotel. Staff friendly & helpful. Spacious room. Kettle for making tea. Complimentary bottled water in fridge. Breakfast buffet good value when paid for at time of booking.

initially, they gave us a room that was not cleaned we had to go back down to the lobby it was midnight; we got the "clean room" but the wife noticed hair in shower and we decided not to shower until next stop. it had a urine smell probably not cleaned as it should have.

La insonorización brilla por su ausencia. Los huéspedes de la habitación contigua es como si estuvieran dentro de la tuya. No sé por qué razón dentro de la cama nos picaba el cuerpo. Y si te das una ducha para aliviar el picor, las toallas gastadas y rasposas rematarán la faena. A este hotel, de categoría 4 estrellas, le sobran 3. La experiencia fue nefasta. Una pena porque la ubicación es perfecta. Para la próxima, buscaremos otra alternativa.

Good for the airport

The hotel was conveniently located near the airport and the shuttle service is good (if you reserve your place in advance). The room is clean and the bed is comfortable. There was some noise in the corridor from other guests, but I still managed to sleep well.

Good hotel

We stayed in this hotel for one night only so for us the shuttle service of the hotel to the airport was a big plus.

Computers were down and check in took over an hour. Waited another hour for shuttle at the airport.

My sister and I chose this hotel because it was close to the Madrid Airport & it had an Airport Shuttle! Don’t be fooled into staying here for a free Airport Shuttle!! You are allowed only 1 piece of luggage with NO exceptions! One of the front desk clerks, a man was extremely rude to us! We wanted to find the closest underground stop to go to the city & he explained it by saying ‘ go left, left, right, right & then left!! When we looked confused by those very poor directions he was mean to us!! We couldn’t wait to leave this hotel and will never stay there again!!

Dissapointing

The hotel was very tired. Hallway carpet were soiled and not a good smell. Staff overall very rude. Be careful as the shuttle service only runs on request and pre booking. I was caught out as I only went on the mention of a hotel shuttle assuming that there was regular rounds. When arriving in Madrid I first struggled to get through to the reception and after 6 attempts was very rudely told that They only run per prebooking. The room was clean but very basic for a 4 star hotel. I would not recommend this hotel for the money they charge per night.

This was the second time that we have been at this hotel! We like it very much because the hotel is excellent and the staff is very friendly. We are sure that next year we will return again to the Senator Barajas when we visit Madrid. We reccomend it! Congratulations.

I have used this hotel many times over many years and twice this week, one over night stay then staying with the group i booked, I noticed the balcony door was open when i arrived, closed it and went down to meet the group for dinner in the Hotel, after dinner i went back to my room and the smell was pretty smelly, but being tired and having to be up early to catch my flight i thought it would be ok. I ended getting up at 4am feeling pretty sick with the smell of sewage in the room, i had to open the balcony sliding door and go back to bed... now i know why the door was open when i arrived. I met one of my customers as we had the same flight time in the morning and he said his room was the same as he was 2 doors along from me on the 3rd floor.

Excellent customer service oriented. Very helpful and professional staff. Great location near dining and market area. Walkable to metro station. Quite and safe community. Bed, room and bathroom clean with great dimensions. Need extra deco modern style but in general great hotel with free transportation. I will definitely stay in the hotel.

The Hotel was excellent , always clean thanks to Rachel our room maid , was safe to walk outside, 10 minutes from the airport , the buffet breakfast was amazing too , I will come back again !!!

Excellent location. The room we stayed in needs maintenance. Bathroom door impossible to open from the inside, not suitable for an elderly person. The balcony door couldn’t be locked. The beds were not very comfortable. One of the pillow cases was dirty.

Nice neighborhood

The hotel is nice, the front desk personal are very nice . The transfer between airport and hotel and vi is great and a plus There is no way to comunícate from the room to the front desk and that is not good

The hotel is close to the airport and we'll kept. The room was a good size and the beds were comfortable. The staff were kind and helpful.

On Expedia web site it said that there is free transportation from and too the airport I arrived in the morning and after waiting More than 40 minutes for the shuttle I found out that they start the shuttles only at three in the afternoon. I had to take a taxi that cost me $32 for less than a mile. I was not happy

Not the place for modern business traveller

Dated property, very uninspiring and relatively costly for what it was. Sparsely decorated, dark room, with a 1980s feel, re-enforced as you walk into the dated foyer and along old wooden panelled corridors. Building work ongoing at the time on 1st floor. Airport shuttle a nice bonus, breakfast met expectations. Struggled to obtain 4G or 5G from the room on the Vodaphone network for wireless tethering (business does not allow use of hotel Wifi networks). I've stayed in many hotels around Barajas, and whilst nice to be in a neighbourhood with decent restaurants and somewhere to walk of an evening, this doesn't outweigh the property negatives.

Staff not crazy friendly but we expected that from reviews. It was convenient to airport and walkable to metro stop and felt very very safe. Lots of eating options at the property and we had no issues with the airport shuttle that others mentioned. Would stay again.

I was absolutely exhausted on arrival at the airport, so I really appreciated that the shuttle was punctual, as was this morning, on my way back to Barajas. My bedroom was very spacious with a huge bed and large bathroom. I had my own balcony, but too hot out, sadly! I especially liked the toiletries available, I am used to natural products and couldn't fault the quality of these soaps and lotion: a perfect treat! I couldn't try the buffet for breakfast, as I had to prioritise sleep time, but I definitely will next time. Very pleasant and comfortable stay all in all, Gracias!!

Airport transfer was difficult and was never able to use. No one answering the phone till 4th call.Check in was slow due to only one employee doing check in despite being 3 employees present.

The staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and professional. However the hotel does advertise that there is a shuttle but fails to mention its many limitations. They won’t take you if you have more than 1 suitcase, small bags included. I booked this hotel primarily for the shuttle so that was disappointing.

The room was very good, plenty of space for both of us. The shower room had a good shower, rainforest and hand held. The staff were always friendly. The pool was very pleasant and situated at the back of the hotel, screened form the quiet road. The metro is an easy 10 minute walk, with several eateries en route. I would stay here again

This property is in a quiet area near the airport, so quick for travelers. They advertise a free airport shuttle service, yet upon departure from hotel to airport they have a ONE bag policy on the shuttle, regardless of how many bags we bring in on arrival. We took a taxi.

Perfect for the airport, set in a quiet neighbourhood, nice and quiet, you wouldn't think the airport is so close by. The hotel offers free transfers to the airport, this can booked at the reception. A few minutes walk from the hotel, there are some good bars and restaurants, the hotel itself has some good eating and drinking options. The rooms are modern and clean, our room had a balcony with outdoor furniture but other balcony rooms didn't seem to have outdoor furniture. My only gripe would be the air conditioning, very poor in our room, we couldn't get the room below 29c!
