Love that parking is available for free. Minutes to drive to Gotemba Premium Outlet. Lots of Kodak Moments with Mt Fuji views just outside the hotel. Only set back is the white fluorescent light in the room. Could do with some softer, warmer lighting.
Older hotel that needs upgrades. Air conditioning unit is old and not too effective. Laundry facility is an oven inside! Breakfast was very simple and lacking. Front desk staff was very pleasant and nice
The property was very close to Gotemba station. They also offered free curry rice the evening I arrived. The front desk offered to hold luggage for up to two days for travelers who plan to hike Mount Fuji.
Clean room with plenty of space
very old property, toilet takes up to 10 minutes to refill; staff were all super super nice. location is not that great.
Pretty good
Very friendly and helpful staff at reception. Room was as expected for the price, not the best, but definitely not bad either.
Old worn budget hotel. I think they are trying to renovate, at least the bathrooms were new although the toilet seat was stuck on scorching hot. They were unable to supply a second pillow. They have instructions on how not to blow the breakers or flood the bathroom. Only redeeming factor is that it is in walking distance of Gotemba station
Terrible hotel please do not book this run down and dirty hotel.
Nice
Definitely recommend.
Do not stay here.
This is the worst hotel we have ever been in. It smells of mold, the walls, mirror in the bathroom, and wondows all have mold along the edges and corners. The mattress box spring was torn open, spings visible, the mattress pad between the mattand box spring was torn, foam exposed. Sheets had stains too. When I went downstairs to request a new room they tried to tell us the hotel was full. I pressed more and asked if the condition of the room was acceptable, only then they reluctantly said no and then gave us a new room. The new room was cleaner and nicer by far. It still smelled of mold either way.
The corridor smell terribly. The room is dated and the wall paper slightly torn. Room is ok size but tiny bathroom. Luckily the nearby izakaya is the best.
Convenient location, walking distance from JR Gotemba station, grocery store, and restaurants. The room was clean and quiet. The hallway smelled a bit musty but the room was ok. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
Room a bit too small for 3 person. Didn't have enough space for for rest before sleeping
Moldy place
The hotel was really old and the rooms has molds.
Overall 6/10
Pros: Easy check-in, provide English guide list, plenty of parking spots Cons: Room, hot shower a bit old, no microwave, noisy washlet, squeaky bed
The hotel is conveniently located near the train station. We got a cosy room overlooking mount fuji, which is a bonus.
Great stay. Good breakfast. Thank you!
Satisfied
We stayed in the traditional Japanese room which was a great experience. It was a bit unfortunate that there weren’t any non-smoking rooms available, but they gave us air freshener which did help. Location is very close to train station with beautiful views of Mt.Fuji just a few minutes walk away.
The walls are so thin we could hear talking sounds. I wish the hotel put some signs like avoid talking in loud voices. It disturbs people’s rest especially if they’re tired.
Extremely poorly maintained property. Old and run down. My husband killed two flying insects (crickets maybe?!) in our room. It was dusty and both our noses were acting up as a result. Minimal amenities & questionable cleaniness. Breakfast was Japanese-style; decent selection but nothing fantadtic. We booked it as a last resort as other places were full. Definitely would not come back again if given a choice.
The staff was not friendly or helpful. They weren't accommodating of reasonable requests such as moving our luggage to our room or calling a taxi for us. Imagine trying to call a taxi service in a country where people don't generally speak English. It's safe to say that we will never go back to this hotel again.
The room smelled and had black mold on the walls. Didn’t stay 10 minutes. Just ate the charges and moved on.
Looked for a cheap hotel online just to stay for a night to rest, you get what you paid for. The hotel.was poorly maintained as it was old. But I give a thumbs up for the free breakfast, breakfast was fulfilling.
Good location but smelly carpet
Good location letdown by the smelly carpet. Too much stains on the wall. Would be a great value if the hotel change the very old and smelly carpet and add a new coat of paint or wallpaper. Breakfast is simple and nice.
Nice place , friendly staff, we walk from there to gotemba premium outlets, but there’s also buses available
Nice hotel.
It was a nice hotel but a little far from the JR station. And there are no restaurants near the hotel.
This Inn was great value for the money and the view of Mt. Fuji was priceless. Walking distance from the train station and a nice breakfast. Made a good base for exploring the Hakone and Fuji areas.
Exceeded expectation
Very close to station and supermarket. Amazing view of Mount Fuji right outside our window. Clean and comfortable bed. Good value for money.
About 7 mins walk to gotemba station. Price is reasonable. Public bath for men. Free breakfast. Hotel staff are friendly.
walking distance about 10 mins to Gotemba station. Spacious room with private toilet & bathtub. Most importantly, you can see Mt. Fuji from you hotel window !! Highly recommend.
It’s very old and not clean, I don’t recommend if you have family with kids, and the room door Secure is bad, location is good but service is not good, if you looking for Cheap Hotel this one maybe find for you.
Budget Hotel
Hotel is about 5-10 mins walk away from Gotemba Station. It gives off an off hotel's feeling. The room size is average, can only open 2 luggage right in front of the bathroom and the door. The bathroom is very tiny, not suitable for people who are tall (175cm and above will find it uncomfortable).
5thbtime to stay. All good
5th stay. all good
Good Hotel
Good cheap hotel, perfect for traveling around japan, especially if you want to climb Fuji as there is two bus routes to two separate starting points.
Easy to find, good breakfast, good price. I liked it for being a bit of the beaten track
Good location hotel
Select Inn was a nice small hotel with tatami. Room was a bit dusty and the tatami was flat so was a bit hard, had to use the additional tatami in the cupboard to add one to the existing tatami. My room was facing Mount Fuji and the view was fabulous. Breakfast was simple and nice. A nice warming meal in the morning.
A night in Gotemba
The people are nice and the area is clean and friendly.
Easy check in, helpful staff, conveniant hotel including a good breakfast.
Value for money. Simple stay
Clean and nice place, simple and good enough
It was good, close to shops and room was spacious
Smells and looks super old
More on the budget side since everything is self-service. The view was nice because you can see Mt. Fuji but the room itself was so small, dark and old. It looks and smells old actually. The staff did not know how to speak English. When I told them I want to transfer to a different hotel, it took them a long time to understand what I wanted to happen. We had to use Google translate to be able to communicate. Terrible experience.
nice location of travel , near to bus station. every morning wake up can saw Fuji mountain, is a nice view.
Nice clean and quiet place ... only never get the nice view of Mount Fuji but it’s ok ... just walk outside the hotel and Mount Fuji is Right I front of you
Budget hotel
Overall okay. Close to station.
Close to Gotemba Station
This is a really basic hotel but was conveniently located for meeting our guides for our Mt Fuji climb. There are buses to Hakone region, but if you wanted to experience Hakone, stay closer to Lake Ashy or one of the other starting points for the Hakone Freepass
Very rude hotel staff.
The room is big comparing to another Japanese hotels and everything is good except the staff. Especially the middle ages guy with a glasses was so rude and made a joke on me. Actually when I checked in I didn't really know that made a double booking on hotels.com and agoda too. So when I checked in I convinced him that I had booked only 2 rooms then this guys said if I convinced that I has only 2 rooms then I would not get another 2 rooms I have already paid anymore. Is it how the hotel's staffs treat the guest when the guests make a mistake by making double booking. I am in hotel business in Krabi, Thailand too and if I found out that the guest had a double booking by having the same same I would contact hotels.com and agoda right away to inform the guest if made a mistake and if they didn't cancel then when they arrive I would also inform them and gave them all rooms key. It does not matter how many people they came and how many room they would stay but at least the hotel was supposed to informed the guest in a nice way not a rude way like he did. So I would like the send these messages to the hotel especially the guy with a glasses and please keep in your mind that they should respect the guest and never made a joke on the guest.
Room is bigger than the standard rooms in Japan. Close to JR train station.
The bathroom wal is full of molds...
Average budget hotel closed to JR Gotemba station
Hotel condition and facility are average, breakfast at the buffet line was good, wide selection of food, restaurant staffs were friendly, and attentive. I fortunately could see the clear Mt. Fuji from room window.
5 min walk to gotemba station
Not the most comfy of beds sleeping on thin futons on floor but clean and convenient for one nights accomodation. Can see my Fuji out bedroom window. Smelt of smoke but not major considering only smoking rooms. Has air freshener in rooms. Heater worked great as was freezing outside. Just basic breakfast but convenient.
Economic stay..
A economic hotel just to stay the night after shopping from Gotemba. Breakfast is surprisingly not bad..
close to gotemba station
not worth of value for hotel condition. Within 10 minutes walk ftom Gotemba station.
"Very good location to Mt Fuji"
- The hotel is only 400 metres from the Gotemba JR line where there are free shuttle bus to the Premium outlet every 20 mins. -Mt Fuji was visible from our hotel balcony which was amazing to watch in the morning. - Overall, its a pleasant stay.
Handy to Gotemba station. Good breakfast
We are a family of 4 and we had two western style rooms (with two beds in each room). I mention this because we could see that Japanese style rooms were also available. (with mats and futons etc) Rooms were spacious, beds good. Carpet throughout building was. Very tired as we're the walls in the bathroom. But breakfast was delicious and varied and plentiful. Easy walk to station (Gotemba station) from which you van catch a bus up to Fuji 5th station to climb the mountain. Comments about cigarette smell are true. But it is more of a first impression. After a few minutes you don't notice. I would go back. Just to climb Fuji.
Mt Fuji view from our Hotel rooms
We like the proximity of hotel to Gotemba station. There is a free bus service just beside the station to Gotemba premium outlets which was the reason why we chose to stay in this hotel for 2 stays. We were lucky to be able to see Mt Fuji from our rooms even though we were told that it was unlikely as weather was cloudy and rainy for the last 2 weeks. Mt Fuji view made our stay in this hotel memorable.
Nothing but good things to share about this hotel
My boyfriend and I planned a last minute trip to hakone and decided to stay the night in gotemba before heading out to FujiQ the next day. My boyfriend was skeptical because he went through the reviews were pretty bad. But since it is last minute and this was by far the best in terms of distance to the bus station, we decided to just suck it up for one night, but to our surprise... The hotel was just a quick 5-10 minutes walk from the bus and train station, it was easy to find. The room and bathroom, was your typical japanese sized room but spacious, clean, tidy and no smell whatsoever. We even got to see mount Fuji from our window. The staffs were friendly and honestly for a one night stay, this hotel is really good. My stay comes with breakfast. It's a typical japanese breakfast, rice with curry, miso soup, salad, bread, pickled vegetables, fish, meatballs, etc. Good and hearty breakfast. Bottom line, I'm very impressed with the hotel and would highly recommend it. *thumbs up*
Stale Smoke Hotel
Gotemba is a lovely quite, country town an hour away from Mount Fuji, you can literally see it (on a clear day) right there in front of you. However, I would choose wisely on the hotel you stay at. The staff & the lobby seemed nice. Once I got the key to my room and walked to the elevator I could smell the strong stench of stale cigarette smoke & mould through out the elevator & the hallways. It was so strong, it put me off. The room I stayed in was quite big, but again the smell of stale smoke was over powering. It was very lucky that the windows can open. After I had the window open for a few hours and sprayed a large amount of air freshener the room smelt decent enough. Because, I was here during spring it was very cold, and I couldnt really figure out the heating/cooling so I can try and heat the room up. The bed was of reasonable comfort, I could deal with it. However, I'm not sure about the pillows, they had beads on one side of it, is it a cultural thing? If so I don't want to bad mouth it, but I wasn't too sure on it. The bathroom was the worse. Had wallpaper on the walls opposed to tiles and had mould stains all over it, and smelt quite mouldy. It had a bath, and as much as I wanted to have a bath, I was relucted to even spend 2 mins in there because of the state it was in. There were also old soap & water stains on the bench which indicated that someone didn't clean it properly. I don't mind budget hotels & can tolerate a lot but I expect some cleanliness.
Reasonable hotel
Good area but have to walk 400m from station. Basic room but ideal for mountain goers
Good breakfast, near station
Good breakfast, near station,
Stayed here one night for a Fuji trip
The shower was disgusting, mold everywhere. The room was non smoking but still smelled like smoke. The bed did not smell clean. I would try and get a recommendation before staying at any hotels in Japan, our experience in finding good places to stay has been really poor.
Mt. Fuji
The hotel itself was in horrid condition. Dirty, smelly, and old. Aside from the physical aspects the service and location were great. About a 5 minute walk from the subway station and the concierge do their best to help you out with any questions.
When we booking there say have free wi fi, but when we reach the hotel there say didn't have wi fi at the hotel.
Comfy bed
I enjoyed my stay however the surrounding neighbourhood leaves alot to be desired.
Could see Mt Fuji from our window
Great buffet breakfast with some traditional Japanese fare.
Would not come again
I came to stay at this hotel right after climbing Mt Fuji. The location is about a 5-10 minute walk from the station and easy to find in a green and yellow pattern on the building itself. As I had come early and exhausted, I hoped they might be willing to do an early check in. Very firm no. I also had to use the internet to contact a lost friend who had climbed up a different path, and asked if there was wifi. No wifi. Did they have internet then?, I asked, pointing to the two computers in the lobby. No, go use the internet cafe. So I had to go find the internet cafe with help from someone at the station (not even directions from the unsympathetic lady) and pay for that. Then I waited several hours at the station before I went back and waited in the lobby until their 3:00 check in time, when the lady finally called me up to the desk. Later, I saw people using the computers, which, unsurprisingly, did have internet. Other than that, the breakfast was mediocre, the room was clean, but the place was dated, and a bit shabby (I found a spider in the corner in the hall). The bed was comfy enough, and the bathroom size was fine, but the bathroom door is placed in such a way that every time you open it, you bang either yourself or the door will fly back at you (really frustrating after a while). Size wise, the room was bigger than the usual Japanese room. This was all that was available in the area when I was booking - I would stay somewhere else next time if I had the choice.
Convenient location
5 minutes walk from Gotemba Station and 2 minutes walk from a big supermarket. Free coffee and tea at reception.

The hotel is quite old and it’s quite inconvenient.
