Pros: -location of property and views -friendly staff -lots of activities offered -mezcal tasting was excellent -spa was amazing -paddle boarding was wonderful with friendly staff -snorkeling -buffet food was always good -loved the jacuzzi tub on balcony and in room -staff was attentive with drink service in pools and at swim up bar -lots of musical activities/shows -gorgeous beach area Cons -Room 2123 was very close to nightly entertainment and very loud between the hours of 8:30pm and 11pm. Also the air conditioner noise was loud as well. -Drinks were hit or miss. If you got a good bar tender then the drinks were amazing. -The food at the majority of the restaurants was average at best. Oceana was the exception along with the desserts from Castaway. -The beach was beautiful and we loved swimming there, but the sand was very coarse and so hot we got burns on our feet. Take flip flops to wear. -Many of the activities for the spa were not listed online in detail. When asked if we needed to bring anything for our hydro spa experience we were told no (just a swim suit). Unfortunately, the treatment was outside and we needed sun screen and sun glasses prior to continuing our service for our personal comfort. -It is very difficult to get a chair at the pool or spa unless you reserve chairs with personal belongings before 8am. -there was a condom wrapper found under our bed -no bathroom at beach -see through shower and bathroom with little privacy in room.
Facility is a little outdated on the lower end of what you expect from Secrets resorts. Food was spectacular, staff and service was phenomenal everyone was more than willing to assist you with whatever your need was.
A huge beachfront hotel on a very scenic bay. Fabulous service. Large beautiful pools. With the exception of some of the Mexican food, the food was not good. Below what I have experienced at dozens of other all inclusives over many years throughout Mexico. Also not enough focus on the beach, which is absolutely gorgeous. I know that most people prefer being by the pool but many of us do prefer the beach. It’s a long way down to the beach but the main issue there is the lackluster seating arrangements. The beach is massive. Everyone should be able to have an umbrella and an unobstructed water view. I also noticed that while the pools are very large, virtually all the seats were claimed before 7:30 AM. I know this because I paid more for a private swim out unit which is just back from the pool with a Birds Eye view. I saw the seats filling up early each day. I enjoyed the use of the paddle boards on the beach as did others. Also kayaks and sailboats. I went every day to the gym as I always do. The gym could be bigger but fortunately it wasn’t too crowded. In sum, the location is gorgeous. The service is great. I can’t give the resort an overall higher rating given the quality of the food and the beach set up.
I Give it a 4 only because the food sucks so bad. The drinks are very good but the food is pretty bad. Everything else is amazing
Huatulco beach Bahia de Conejos is a relaxed casual atmosphere ideal for low profile visitors wishing to run away from a busy schedule. We enjoyed the "Preferred selection on the rooms and the top tier liquor allowance that comes with it. The waiters and bartenders were absolutely amazing! I wish to have a "Danilo" at my local neighborhood bar. The only downside was the resort time share sales strategy; we were harassed by two sales agents for two days after we were left alone when we explained we were NOT interested in attending the presentation.
We liked everything about this hotel: the service, the dining and the view. We would definitely go back.
Had no issues.
This hotel is at a beautiful location. This is a place where you come to rest. There is no shopping or restaurants close by, you will have to take a taxi to do any of that. The service is great. I think some areas of the pool need to be maintained better, the tiles are coming off. The mesh of some of the lounge chaises are worn and they seem to be coming apart. The Oaxacan cuisine restaurant was the best, the rest of the restaurants were OK. The gym has good equipment with nice views.
Great resort, staff and service was the best I've experienced for any resort or hotel
Atmosphere very nice and friendly
My husband and I went for a week and had a wonderful time! The staff was amazing! The food could have been better at a few of the restaurants. They also used a lot of artificial sweeteners in their juices for cocktails. It was hard to find a beach cocktail that didn't have this in it. The hotel could use some updating but it was super clean. The beach was amazing and there was no shortage of palapa!
The location of the property is excellent, staff were great and food was good. The property needs tobe renovated, a little dated for a aecrets resort.
Stayed here for 4 nights in December and overall I enjoyed my stay here. Having an ocean view room is amazing and the staff are all incredible and friendly. The property needs some real TLC. Peeling paint, lots of loose or missing tiles in the pool and just an overall refresh of this property is needed. Considering this is a 5-star resort, it was a real annoyance that there was a rarely a pool lounger available after 8am. Unless you get up at 6-6:30am to put a towel on a lounger(s) you were just hoping everyday to find one with an umbrella or shade. Equally disappointing was that the loungers would be untouched other than a towel on them for hours. So be prepared to eye up your desired spot when you arrive and then get up real early to claim it! The beach area was nice. Water was warm and the ocean mostly calm everyday. There’s some decent snorkeling near the rocks on east side of the beach. The food at the resort was just okay in my opinion. Again, as a 5-star resort I was expecting much better. I enjoyed Castaways the best as it was down near the water and the atmosphere and service were great. All the other restaurants are near the top floor of the main building and had the feel of being a mall food court with all them packed in side by side with no real atmosphere and anything to really differentiate the different styles. Up there, I ate at Spice and Tamarindo.
Property was excellent, the staff and customer service level here is amazing!! A few things to note: - The restaurants are great, we loved the Japanese style and French one. I will warn in advance room service, the poolside grill, and buffet are NOT good. My wife got food poisoning from the poolside grill on the last few days of our trip.. - The relaxation factor here is excellent however if you are looking for more of a party/fun vibe this is not the resort for you. The pool is divided into a quiet and loud side, the loud side has a strict policy on certain music played at certain times and all activities are on a very tight schedule. This was an amazing experience and we have plans to go back, just figured these two are important things to note when considering booking here!
Very enjoyable vacation. Only downfall was getting food poisoning and lost an entire day at the resort.
The staff was soooo lovely. Pools were great. The food was ok but not amazing. We would go back.
Nice
We were excited to try out a Secrets property. We had always enjoyed our Dreams resorts and always believed Secrets would be an upgrade. This resort was average. Things we enjoyed, it was quiet and laid back. Beach was beautiful and swimming was nice. The ocean is a bit of a walk from the chairs a bit of an incline coming back to chairs and a bit difficult so if you have mobility issues and like the beach it might not be for you. There is a beautiful spot to take in the sunrise. Go to the left way down the beach between two signs is a path! Recommend taking in a sunrise! Hotel is clean. Food mediocre. However we highly enjoyed the Italian restaurant Cin Cin, the Oaxaca Mexican buffet night and the Teppanyaki and the wings and chips at Barefoot grill. Service is less than fair. It seems that staffing may be an issue. Most of the bartenders seemed aloof and not even happy to be there. Drinks were meh! Drink Service by the beach was excellent! They come by often and always check in. Overall it was a typical average all inclusive. Not what I was hoping for from a Secrets.
Food was below average when compared to vacations at other properties. Drinks were OK but watered down it seemed. On the positive, fitness club was very good, with great spin bikes and views of the beach. Property is far from town, so you are essentially captive and cannot easily leave. AC worked great
Secrets is located in a beautiful swimming bay. The views are spectacular. Unfortunately, there are not enough amenities for the number of guests they host. There are few bars and the barefoot grill was always full. Breakfast, lunch and dinner lines were typically 30minute wait.
Room was wonderful, very clean and everything you needed. Rain shower and big bubble tub. Fridge being stocked was hit and miss, but bar was close. Lots of bars. Lots of activities. Musical guests were ok. Food was good for the most part. Property was way away from everything in the area. $85 pesos ride to town. Not really convenient to walk anywhere from the resort. Staff was good mostly. Some bar tenders were not nice. Pool water was very warm. Chairs at the pool were often saved and left vacant for hours, even though they tell you not to. Mostly a good place to stay.
Very nice and quiet
Beautiful property amazing views from each room
The worst part is the Vacation Club staff trying to sell their share time constantly. It shouldn't be allowed.
There were a few things that stood out and led us to give this place an average rating. Firstly, my wife and I were unaware of the distinction between preferred clients and regular clients. This differentiation meant that certain amenities, such as premium liquor like Don Julio, were only available to preferred clients. At other all-inclusive resorts we've visited, we never encountered restrictions on the types of drinks we could order. Another disappointing incident involved the room service staff. When restocking our refrigerator with snacks and drinks, I requested Pringles chips but was told they were only for preferred clients. It seemed excessive to make such a distinction over chips. On a positive note, the dinner staff at the restaurants were quite attentive, and the food was good, though not excellent. I also wanted to mention that not all the staff were equally friendly. While some were very welcoming, others didn't even say hello. While it doesn't bother me personally if people in general don't greet me, but I believe it's important for the staff to make every guest feel welcome.
Some features need to be updated
Very quiet and great customer service
The property is nice, it needs some up dating. Customer service was not good at all people at front desk were very unprofessional and with other agencies for timeshare working in the same area was a mess. The hotel does not have ATM machine for customers to use. But they offer you to help you with extra charges on top of other charges. Restaurants food was very bad except the japonés. If everything is included why to change extra money to be at front of the shows they offer? The waiters were horrible and there service was to be standing on the side of the tables that you had to pay extra mean while the people behind those tables had to wait or stand up to get water or utensils because they pretend to be busy. I will not recommend this please as 5 stars because the most 2 1/2 stars hope they really change that because it seems it’s been like this for a while. never saw someone incharge at front desk. We had to check in and out on The other side were gold member do but still was bad to see the front desk employees busy on their cellphones.
The staff could not have been better: happy, fun, and would bend over backwards to make sure you got what you wanted. Huatulco is also safe and not supper touristy. You can safely explore close by towns with a cheap ($10) cab ride. Would go back 100 times in a row if it was a little easier to fly into.
This was a nice property that needs some tlc. The food is so so Italian restaurant was the best!
Property is not like any other Secrets I e stayed at before. Menu choices were horrible and food was not was horrible. Need to be updated. Overall I give this Secrets a 3
This hotel was beautiful and well kept.
I would stay again in this place
El servio y la comida muy buenos
From the moment we arrived to when we left, we were treated like royalty. The staff was exceptional, always greeted and kind. The views are amazing, the vibes were chill. Good if you want to relax, all adults no kids which for us was great. They have Dreams down the road which is for families. We came to relax so it was awesome for us. Recommend Secrets if you’re there to have a more intimate time with your significant other.
Wonderful room (big, luxurious, great shower and jacuzzi tub), exceptional and helpful service everywhere we went, beautiful location. The couples massage was incredible, and very reasonably priced. Food was good to very good, drinks were great.
Not impressed with this location. Did not like that we were not allowed to play our own music. Not many activities to do at the resort. This location is more for the older/retired crowd.
Beautiful view, helpful staff, great food options
We had a good time at the end of our trip but we had two issues one it was when we got there it was very late around 9pm we rent a car at the airport and we got the right directions but close to get to the resort it was very dark the sign for the Hotel was very hidden and not enough light to turn to the property it took us awhile to find the resort is not easy to find it at night, I probably recommend more light at the entrance of the resort and second issue was about males have to use a formal shirt for every meal this is the first resort we ever have to change for every meal I will agree for a nice dinner but for breakfast and lunch I think is little bit too much, is vacation and people just want to relax but for us it was back in forward to the room to change. The staff is very helpful, respectful I love the attitude and attention they give us .
The hotel was nice and provided all the amenities you can need during your stay. The hotel was clean but the room did look like it needed some maintenance. Walls had scuff marks and some of the furniture was worn out. Some things I didn't like were that the hotel seems to only cater to Caucasian Americans/Canadians when it comes to the entertainment and music by the pool. The one thing I really hated about of stay is the constant harassment of the VIP membership service people who harrased us every day about having breakfast with them to explain their hotel membership plans. From the moment we checked into the hotel they sat us down to get us to agree to go to the breakfast. We told them daily that we were not interested. Other than that, the restaurants we ate in had very food food and the hotel staff was very friendly and accomadeting. Overall, the hotel was nice but not sure if I would stay here again.
Enjoyed our first trip to Huatulco Mexico, our room was cleaned couple times a day, we did have a little light switch we could turn on if we choose not to. They did a turn down service every night which threw me off at first but I really enjoyed having everything tidied. Abraham welcomed us our first day & everyday would ask how everything was & if we needed any help. He helped us book a 7 bay tour & waterfall tour. we enjoyed both of those however next time we are going to leave a day in between as it definitely tired us out but definitely worth it! He also gave us advice on where we should go for shopping and always found us a cab fairly quickly! We couldn’t get our safe working but they got it changed out for us with no problems. There were a few options for restaurants right on the resort as well as daily buffets so lots of options. Our favourite restaurant was Spice (Pan-Asian Fusion Restaurant), the food was absolutely delicious! We also learnt there is a secret cabinet in the room for the concierge to put room service in or to take dirty dishes without them having to come into your room. (This door can be locked from the inside so you only unlock it when you ordered something or when you have asked them to come grab your dishes, don’t worry) All in all it was a nice relaxing vacation for the most part we just needed to plan our tours a little further apart from one another but this was our first time so that was our mistake. It’s hot and humid but I enjoy heat
The place and service were very good but, the food and drinks were not what we expected.
Beautiful beach and location which is our top priority. Difficult route getting to the beach from the rooms. Chair saving should be outlawed. Rooms were clean. Generous with beach towels. Long pants in restaurants for men is just plain stupid.
Mini bar was just filthy 3 pm check in and then told to wait until 4pm in the foyer Japanese restaurant was cheap wine and stale food and dried fish Service was average Separate bedroom was not!
Very nice and clean but I didn’t get my room on time it was after 3:45
Room wasn't ready until close to 4, check in was at 3. Expedia confirmation said nothing about dress code for most of the 6 dining rooms, men had to have long pants and close toed shoes. My partner had men's capris and slip ones, we were not allowed in the dining rooms. Drinks were weak, the washed the plastic glasses in a tub of water in front of us at the swim up bar so not clean or hygiene at all. Missing chunks of tile, stucco, bar pieces everywhere. Place is showing it's age, staff not friendly. Food at the Market Cafe, buffet where we could eat due to dress code issues was mediocre. Nothing that should have been served warm was. We tried room service, food arrived cold, not even slightly warm. Overpriced, not a return hotel.
Absolutely great experience at the Secrets Huatulco! Would come here anytime! Super friendly staff! Just perfect
I like everything and the staff were incredible helpful. This part of Mexico doesn't have anything of the TV news. It is very safe.
The property was fine. Very clean staff very friendly. The beds need to be updated. Alcoholic beverages and food should be available at all times. They were not. Our fridge was not filled where another couple who we traveled with their fridge was. The beach was amazing.
Location is beautiful- the two bahías on the property were the highlight of our stay. However the property is in need of some renovations and upgrades considering the price point for this hotel. Improvement could also be made to staff- particularly reception staff. Regarding dining we were not impressed by the food. We found the best option to be Tamarindo restaurant. There was always a wait for dining especially in the morning. It was also unpleasant how much pressure was placed to attend the unlimited vacation club breakfast presentation. We were “invited” at check in but declined. The next day we were invited to make our way to the breakfast since there was a line for both buffets but again we declined. Later that same day we were approached while at the beach again overall it was uncomfortable. It felt like we had no choice but to attend.
Enjoyed the property. Did not enjoy the 4 hour/ 90 minute presentation
Old and tired resort, premium club is a joke and not worth the upgrade, very pushy with Hyatt Club time share (but its not a time share they say). Lobby doesnt fwwl like a rwsort and their main skybar hangout has no personality, decoration, or ambience. Staff were great and restaurants were good.
Great pools and alot of shade down on the beach, with constant breeze.
Good staff, ocean view for all rooms
The property needs some upgrades, pool tiles falling off everywhere. There is not enough pool chairs for everyone and if you want one you can never sleep in because you have to reserve a chair by six am to sit by the pool. There was this awful whistling sound that ran throughout the day and night no idea what it was but kind of kills the mood sitting out on the deck listening to the ocean. Food was ok, loved the Japanese and thier seafood.
Our stay was amazing. We were well taken care of by the staff. Shout out to Edder, Ricardo, Felipe, and Uriel. They made our dining experience excellent.
Let’s start with what they offer and what you get , a 4 to 5 start hotel that offers top shelf alcohol and you get there and all the have is below good quality drinks , if you want premium you have to pay extra , rooms are nice could use a little work ( scratch walls, stains here and there ) pools are nice , but pool need work missing tiles everywhere so that is unacceptable specially when you pay for a hotel of this category, at one point they were serving your drinks in a paper cup , who does that , with the heat and the ice on the drinks paper cups were all wet and almost dissolving , to me that is not ok . Staff was great , we met so many nice, that went above and beyond to take care of us . Would I go back , maybe Huatulco is a beautiful place the beaches are so beautiful.
The beach and overall property is beautiful. Turn over in staff has really dropped the level of communication and customer service! Pool is falling apart. The hotel ran out of Diet Coke for 5 days.. I would come back but hopefully Hyatt fixes the issues that are adding up.
Very much disliked the pushing of timeshare of the hotel chain. Love the amazing private beach we swam snorkel, kayak, catamaran and had art night lol all included. The Mexican and French restaurant our favourites and entertainment was so well done! The preferred lobby and preferred greeting room needs a good steam clean or redo. The staff works so so hard we tip everyone we could possibly Big shout shout out to Amir who took us out on the catamaran was amazing! So many people at the buffet the all deserve a raise!
Check in was for 3, our room wasn’t ready till 4:45 and didn’t get our luggage till 5:15. Frustrating to loose a day at the beach as the sun was down at 5:30
It was ok. The staff were friendly but seemed understaffed. You felt like just a number even though I have had a more personalized experience at bigger resorts. The amenities were inconsistent and they weren’t able to accommodate a group of 15 even when we tried to contact them in advance of our trip or give several days notice once we arrived on site. The building seems to be showing its age. The spa experience was wonderful and the staff very skilled. The food at Tamarindo was great and having lunch at Castways was very good.
This was the best place I’ve ever stayed. It was so magical!
No me gustó que las reglas no apliquen a los extranjeros
Our stay was absolutely amazing. I proposed to my now fiancée on this trip and we loved absolutely every second. The staff were wonderful, the food was excellent, the drinks were strong, and the pools were clean! Our only downside was how rough and coarse the sand was on our feet. (Insert Anakin skywalker joke here). The property is very interestingly built up a jungle mountain in layers. It makes for a really cool area. The views are just stunning. We had an ocean view room and it was maybe the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen. A special thank you to Ricardo the photographer on site for capturing our proposal perfectly, and a special thanks to Joyce, Ismael, Cristian and all the other wonderful staff around the property. We can’t say enough good things. Everyone seemed very genuinely happy and excited for us when they found out about us being engaged and all the bartenders seemed to take a liking to us. We had the time of our lives and will surely be back!
It was an amazing and relaxing experience with beautiful breathtaking views and beaches.
Resort was amazing ! Highly recommend if your planning a getaway. Staff, food, pools and private beach access was 10/10 !
Loved it!
I would had given it all stars except for one thing which was not appreciated. The requirement for men wear pants at the Asian restuarant, which by the way the food was not exceptional. But overall the view, the rooms and surrounding areas was great. But what matters most was that the staff provided exceptional service.
Everything was very good. We had a great time!
Great resort
The staff were very courteous. Hotel and restaurants were great. Beach was perfection. Great views from all over the resort. We also enjoyed spending some time at the other bays in the area and in La Crucecita. Wonderful time & people.
Only experienced about 2-3 staff members who truly made the difference. Remaining staff was not very friendly.
Mala atención, restaurantes cerrados por que no es temporada alta, los que te venden club vacacional te persiguen r el hotel a pesar d Eda teles dicho no gracias muchas veces.
NEED A BETTER MASTER CHEFF
THE FOOD WAS LOW QUALITY FOR THE PRICE OF ALL INCLUSIVE, TASTELESS, POOR QUALITY
The staff was very friendly.
Property needs update. Furniture in room was smelly as well as the bathroom, they were clean but smelly. Staff was courteous but it seemed like they needed more staff at the beach and pool, we had to wait for them for a long time. And I am not sure why there was always one restaurant closed every night. For me it was ok not the best.
The property it's dirty Their food and beveramenu limit it They're welcoming not very good I won't go back to this problem
Everything was perfect except when they started harassing for the time share thing. Didn’t appreciate that bothering time
We really enjoyed our stay in Huatulco. Very comfortable and nicely laid out room. We had some noise from some of the entertainment venues, but it ended at a reasonable time. The sand at the beach is not soft. One day we walked to the next bay and the sand there is incredibly soft. The people in Oaxaca are as friendly as can be. Of course it’s better if you speak Spanish but it’s not necessary. The cascade tour is excellent. Some walking involved but nothing treacherous. The tour includes lunch at a restaurant up in the mountains and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurants at Secrets are good. We had a couple of dinners that were excellent. The pool side snack bar is mediocre at best. The service everywhere is great.
Food could be improved overall good experience
Very disappointing!
It depends on your expectations. This by no means was this a luxury resort, nor did it compare to the standards of other secrets. Nothing about this resort felt permanent. It felt as though the place was abandoned, and then 2 to the 3 weeks ago, they moved in some cheap furniture and untrained staff to take care of guests. The preferred club was a joke. No top shelf liquor and the club itself looked like it was stuffed in a closet with no atmosphere whatsoever. The food and service at the restaurants was terrible. The hibachi grill was entertaining to say the least. It was as though some ordinary person was just grabbed off the streets handed a knife and told to give it his best shot. The food was unedible due to all the butter and soy sauce. The overall resort needed updating and maintenance. The only thing this resort has going for it is the beach. Our experience at this resort got us thinking about all inclusives in the future. It was a no way worth the money we paid.
Every restaurant had superb food! Pools were pristine and beautiful! There were lots of activities and entertainment excellent. Views from our room and spa fabulous!
Muy relajado
Food is very bad, same menu every day
Food and the people are great, lots of pool area and the resort is nice and clean
We were very pleased with the whole facility and its operation. The staff were pleasant, helpful and happy to go out of their way. We did find on check-in three minor deficiencies which were corrected promptly when brought to the front office staff who dispatched maintenance personnel. This could likely be avoided if the resort used a quality control person to inspect each unit when turned over as guests check out and before the next guests arrival. The food quality, service and décor in all of the restaurants was very very good. If we were to try and find a reason to complain about anything it would be one evening a rock band type of performance was held on the sky bridge bar area and it attempted to disguise lack of talent by truly excessive volume. It was so loud in our suite we could not even watch tv which was drowned out. Fortunately it started at about 9 pm and shut down at 11. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return to secrets.
Front desk service was bad
The service was slow in general, it felt a little unorganized and the staff will work better if you tip them even though it says that tips are included. The spa experience was great
Just wanderfull
Super friendly staff and spectacular views
setting, tennis
Excellent costumer service, food, drinks and spa. Very clean, friendly and safe.
The staff is super nice and friendly. The facility is clean and safe.
I enjoyed the private Conejo Bay only to the hotel guests The food quality can be improved.
We stayed at Secrets Huatulco for 12 days and enjoyed ourselves. I wouldn't say it's a 5-Star resort but it's quiet, has plenty of meal options that cater to all diets, and the location is beautiful. Our pool server, Mardeli, was AMAZING - always happy and she always brought everyone ice water as soon as she started her shift. The towel-saving lounger game is ridiculous at this resort. To ensure we got loungers, we had to get up at 5 and were the only ones who stayed on them all day. Several people saved loungers but never showed up, or saved pool and beach locations so they could travel back and forth. There is a game called "Left Centre Right" that has been going since January 2023 played at the quiet pool everyday at 3pm which was a lot of fun - all you need is 3 US dollar bills or 3 x 20 pesos to play! The restaurants were okay - Spice, try the fried rice appetizer, dynamite/california sushi rolls, steak gyro and sweet & spicy pork and fried vanilla ice cream. Castaways - caesar salad, calamari, fish tacos and chicken fajitas were fantastic! Oceana- caesar salad with shrimp, mahi mahi tacos, coconut shrimp (we asked for all shrimp - the coconut fish was always overcooked), seafood spaghetti and fish and chips were excellent. Market Cafe - the freshly-made omelets and fresh fruit were great. Bordeaux - the steak was tender even though it looks well-done (it is marinated which makes it look that way). The guac/chips and french fries at the pool cafe are delicious. Have fun!
Property in need of a serious refurbish, everything very outdated and worn, 1980’s style. Food average at best Stunning location.
Great staff and beautiful property. Could use some better linen. Towels are very hard and bed linen is very thin.

Issues with getting lounges around the pool and at the ocean. People leave their towels on the chairs and never seem to show up. Also towels are hard to get sometimes.
