Great location, amazing staff

From walking through the door you well welcomed, amazing staff, super helpful I requested some dining locations in where they said they would walk me around the corner to personally show my options, never had that ever in traveling. The bar and restaurant staff were perfect. The location was great for walking. I read the reviews prior to going so I have to agree that the room was super small, but clean, comfortable and well appointed. I was by myself with just a carry on so it was fine for me, if I had larger luggage and another person with me it would have been another story. Note there is a hub for trains just to the side of the building, so like others it is loud and goes on forever, did not effect my stay but I could see how others would be not happy with it. Overall I loved it

The Mandarin Hotel is always a good choice, but there were a few missteps with the in room dining and housekeeping service, which was disappointing, given the reputation of this hotel. On the positive side, the rooms were spacious and well appointed, and the staff very helpful and courteous. The location is ideal as it is close to shopping and the old town for sightseeing.

Great hotel and great staff. Great location to walk everywhere. Only complaint was room was a bit small.

Great staff and service

Great location and rooms were excellent. We had a lovely time at this hotel. Only minor issue was the ineffectiveness of the AC, otherwise it would be perfect.

Amazing stay once again

Really nice welcoming the valet parking got us a cheaper parking in the street as we arrived quite late we appreciated We got also upgraded to a really nice room with a balcony with a view over Zurich roofs it was amazing We also enjoyed the restaurant which we highly recommend

Worth coming back!

The hotel is really great. Loved the room. Everyone was super friendly. All though our kids were super crazy. The location is right in the center. But the rooms are very quiet. The staff was lovely.

The bar and restaurant Orsini are outstanding. The service for the hotel part was lacking. Nobody came out to greet us as we arrived. We were also missing a file after check out and when we called the hotel to ask if it was there, they were immediately defensive and unhelpful. This is not what I expect from a 5* property.

Great location, beautiful building, very good rooms and excellent service. The staff did everything in their power to make our stay as comfortable as possible e.g. early check in and late check. The Italian restaurant Orsini delivered both amazing food and service.

The old school charm was amazing at this hotel! There were unique features such as the old room key which was a lovely touch! The restaurant Orsini is a MUST visit for staff and food quality !

The savoy is such a prestigious name, I was very excited and disappointed. The building is beautiful and in a wonderful location. Front desk staff is one of the least hospitable I have ever encountered at a hotel (this is saying a lot since I am in the industry and travel quite often). Also, gave me a dirty robe one of the days. Also visited the savoy in London which was fabulous with amazing service so I do believe this was particular to Zurich. Would not recommend unfortunately, although I must admit it is very pretty but service is everything. My sister and I said “I mean isn’t it their job to be nice?”

The rudest staff ever. They just treat you as you are trash when you are there paying a fee for the stay. Would never go again!!!

Savoy Hotel Baur en Ville Zurich Elegant five star in a perfect location with one deficiency I stayed at this hotel for four days and absolutely loved it. I had a room with a balcony overlooking the square across from the hotel. There were comfortable chairs on the patio and a table. Smoking is permitted on the balconies. I could sit outside and watch the people snd streetcars travel up and down the main street. The hotel is convenient walking distance to the lake and railroad station. The room was small like all rooms in. Europe but not uncomfortably so. Everything about my room and the hotel was five star including the service, the bed, the lobby except one thing. The breakfast which was included with the room rate was “continental.” Nothing hot was included and what was included was quite Spartan. I ate there twice and afterwards walked across the street where there are numerous restaurants. This was a minor deficiency easily overlooked. I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat. I was told this was an Expedia VIP hotel and had benefits. I don't know what benefits i got at this hotel but view that program as worthless.

Excellent location!

We booked 5 nights of the Classic Double room of which the room size is very good, with a queen bed and very spacious bathroom and closet area. Location is excellent with the tram station right downstairs and all good restaurants, tourist attractions and shopping area just around the corner. Front desk is super helpful. We are very satisfied with the stay.

Beautiful traditional hotel in heart of Zurich.

Excellent traditional hotel in the most convenient location in Zurich. Staff were superb, the concierge went beyond his job description. The room and bathroom were beautiful. However this is one of the more expensive hotels in the city center. The breakfasts were small and pricey. The bar was a good option for dinner when Orsini restaurant was fully booked.

I come here often. Very friendly atmosphere and great location

Service was top rate. Professional and knowledgeable. The only thing I would have liked better was the shower. It was a high sided tub which is hard yo get into and only a hand held shower. I prefer not to have to handle the shower head. The property is in a great location. The bar had a wonderful piano player which was really a nice plus.

Soft bed with small but heavy blankets

All are good to great, except the bed. It is small for two people and no blanket covers large enough to cover the bed. Instead they use two full size bed covers it becomes the most Uncomfortable nights I had in years. Small bed cramped with 2 thick blankets on a soft bed, which if you’ve slept on edges will fall down.

As usual, we are very satisfied with our stay. The location is perfect, the service excellent. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

Great location next to Paradeplatz and Bahnhofstrasse. Welcoming staff and elegant decor. Perfect for shopping and sightseeing. Only minutes away from Railway station and lake.

All great, excellent service beautiful hotel. The bed was not firm enough for me. They tried a fix and it improved, but was still too soft for me.

Overpriced and no effort towards customer delight

This is an expensive property located in the middle of Zurich. Its an old style hotel. Rooms are really small, continental breakfast costing 35 francs does not include anything other than bread, cold cuts and beverages. I was frankly quite disappointed and wont go again

All decor but minimal comfort

Unfortunately my trip was disturbed by the Zurich street parade (which wasn’t the hotels fault) although the hotel should have offered some type of coffee service or complimentary snacks as it was extremely difficult to go out even most shops were closed. The staff didn’t seem to realize the difficulty there customers faced even getting to the hotel and should have offered some complimentary tea or beverage service. While I realize some people came to the city just for this event, I sincerely doubt savoy customers did so. The staff were a bit stiff and not very welcoming. This is a beautifully decorated and clean hotel although I think the staff weren’t inviting.

Our stay at the Savoy was exceptional. Everyone was professional, friendly, helpful, and focused on providing an outstanding customer experience. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to shopping, local attractions, the lake.

Wonderful location. Beautiful hotel. Front desk was a little stiff and didn’t offer advice. Only helped when asked. Included breakfast was only continental but adequate. More fruit would have been nice and a toaster for the bread.

Great location. Hotel is beautiful and clean. The only thing is the breakfast place is super expensive and offered the worst kind of breakfast. At the entrance, the sir who serve us doesn't even provide me the option and give me the default breakfast option, which has nothing just bread and jam for 35 euro per person.

I was looking for a good hotel near the old town of Zurich. The Savoy Hotel Baur fit this description perfectly--the location is exceptional, within easy walking distance of the old town and the lake. The staff was very professional--I arrived mid-morning and they called me when my room was ready--and the room very comfortable.

There was not anything not to like. It is a fabulous place with professional, personable staff and a desire to accommodate every request. The location is perfect. I recommend it as highly as possible.

The Savoy is a wonderfully located, very refined hotel. There are many things one could say about how remarkable it is, but I'll list the one that stood out the most - an remarkable attention to customer service. From the bell desk, to reception, to the concierge, to housekeeping, room service and the restaurants, every staff member I and my 15-year old daughter interacted with were remarkably helpful and very warm. After only three short days there, there was almost a sense of kinship. Just an extraordinary hotel! We will definitely stay there again.

A beautiful old school traditional hotel, beautifully located and perfectly maintained. Spotlessly clean.

The hotel is outdated in general, if you travel in pair they will still give you only one key with a heavy weight attached to it, the American breakfast is 49CHF (around $45) and they will offer you one type of cheese, some ham and eggs plus yogurt, fruits, and drinks for that money.

Great location, attractive plushy hotel, but very stuffy, almost unwelcoming atmosphere. My son and I stayed at several high end properties during a 10 day Alps trip through Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Italy and felt comfortable and welcome everywhere except for this property. This started with the unsmiling man handling our bags upon arrival, to the woman at the front end receptio, through some (not all) of the staff at the very expensive breakfast the next day. By the way, this was the only property where breakfast was not included during our trip. Why? It was explained to us that it would have been included for the same price if we had booked with them directly versus through Expedia due to the fees they had to pay Expedia. No other properties did that to us, and all had been booked through Expedia.

Everything was better than what I expected. This hotel should not be 5 star, but should be 1 diamond hotel. Even my girlfriend was very impressed. We would definitely reserve this hotel again when we visit Zurich. Would definitely recommend to my family members and business associate. Staff were very helpful, friendly, courteous, and fast to respond to your needs. Hotel was very clean, beautiful, and perfectly located in city center.

Everything about the room was good, except the air-conditioning issue

The property was in a great location, however the staff was not as friendly as I expected. The room had a great balcony but constantly smelled like cigarette smoke.

A charming hotel in the heart of Zurich

The Savoy is an extremely well maintained hotel in the heart of Zurich, which makes it great for walking around and exploring major sites. The room was extremely comfortable and charming. Service at the hotel was excellent.

The hotel is in a great location and has a very friendly staff. The room was smaller than expected based on photos from the listing but very clean and comfortable. Everything is more expensive in Zurich...but I felt like this hotel was very expensive for what it was. Breakfast was not included which was probably an oversight on my part. The breakfast they offer seemed overpriced so we just got an omelette and coffee at a cafe around the corner for a fraction of the cost. The style of the hotel is old fashioned and the vibe is definitely for an older crowd. It felt like my grandmother's idea of a luxury hotel. But everything is immaculate and very well maintained. Parking is also additional and fairly expensive compared to other places we stayed in Europe as well as other major cities in the US. Just something else to keep in mind if you have your own car. Overall our stay was excellent, just a little bit different from what I had in mind when I originally booked it.
