A jewel in La Rioja

This amazing property located in the midst of the medieval town of Briones is a hidden jewel. Composed by a 16 room boutique hotel built within a catalogued building which has a 1000 year wall inside it, was conceived by a savvy architect and interior designer who looked after every single detail, from the lay-out of the suites to an exquisite taste throughout the lounge-bar-restaurant. To all this magnificent infrastructure, you get a flawless service rendered by a fully committed staff. This place is a must when visiting La Rioja

Impresionante, todo perfecto: habitación, desayuno, servio, recomendaciones,… Y perfectamente para recorrer la zona.

We loved that this boutique hotel was a former manor house from the 1500’s in the medieval hilltop town of Briones surrounded by vineyards. It was beautifully restored and renovated to blend the old with the modern The courtyard built against the town wall is charming and relaxing. Some of the historic features include the old wine cellar, now the Calado restaurant. The breakfast buffet was a work of art with a wonderful array of choices including different daily pastries. Dinner at the Allegar Restaurant was excellent with food and wine selection and beautifully prepared. We had a bottle of wine on the upper-level terrace overlooking the vineyards and enjoyed a memorable sunset.

Amazing property. Beautifully renovated. Very quiet and relaxing. Very friendly and helpful staff. Onsite Michelin recommended restaurant. A cave restaurant opens only for lunch.

Beautifully renovated historic building, blending the old with new. Rooms a little dark and would have liked a bath. Restaurant staff for dinner and breakfast were excellent as was the food. Reception provided great advice and booked in a tour of the local Bodegas for us. Only downside was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and bar service was slow.

Excellent location , great dining options nearby . Breakfast was amazing . Rooms are clean with a Bea vineyard view. Definitely recommend

A perfect hotel

A fabulous hotel on top of an historical village. We stayed in room 16. A nice bottle of complimentary rioja wine was waiting for us. Just perfect on decoration, confort and cleanliness. Every night a little home made bag of cookies were left with a fresh flower. The restaurant is amazing and a must. Breakfast is also a feast with local and fresh products. The team is just wonderful, professional and extremely friendly. Always a smile and very helpful. Maria was a top hostess and she showed us around the place and the great cave! We can only highly recommend this place. We will return.

Beautiful recently renovated hotel set in a centuries old mansion built into the 11th century wall of a quaint medieval village (current population about 7-800 people). 1 block walk from the village square and stunning views from the 2nd / 3 floors (common terrace on the 3rd floor (listed as 2nd floor since ground level is "zero" in many European hotels). Lovely staff and magnificent restaurant. Had lunch in their wine cellar which was fantastic.

Awesome stay in Briones

It was a perfect stay in a beautiful, medieval town in a wonderfully restored property. Host was great and gave us private tour of the renovation. Would definitely recommend.

Beddings.

In all aspects it was amazing, only the mattress and pillows were not the best. Specialry pillows. And mattress too soft.

Nice newly renovated hotel in old manor house. Excellent breakfast and nice small city with structures from medieval times. Close and convenient location for visiting many Rioja wineries with tasting options. Driving on narrow and steep streets can be challenging at times so go slow.

Amazing hotel!!

Stunning hotel in the middle of a medieval city. The rooms were spacious and beautiful and the bed is probably the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on in any hotel! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful directing us to wineries and other activities in the area, and the breakfast was the best we experienced in Spain. Can’t say enough good things!

One of the best hotels in Spain!

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in! Rooms were incredible, the staff was beyond kind and attentive. We could not have asked for a better place to stay in Rioja and will stay there again when we are back.

Hotel boutique em excelente localização

excelente localização. O hotel fica em uma cidade muito central na região de Rioja, com fácil acesso aos principais pontos de visita. O restaurante do hotel é muito bom. Achei apena que a área aberta do hotel (pátio) é muito mal explorada. Embora estivesse frio, os móveis estavam todos sujos e cobertos, de modo que não dava para usar.

Boutique hotel with great value

Lovely hotel with a charming surrounding and hospitable staff. I'm glad we booked the Junior studio suite - it was just the right size, and I think our stay would have been less comfortable if the room had been smaller. We had a delicious dinner at the hotel's restaurant, Allegra. Wine lovers should definitely visit the VIVANCO museum nearby. Highly recommended for your Rioja stay.

Beautiful property in the heart of Briones. Amazing restaurant with Michelin rated dinner experience. Great staff, helpful and gracious. Helped us out many times with food and winery requests.

Quiet and luxurious

The hotel in quiet and pretty village . The owner is super nice person, they have gourmet restaurant and the food deserve a michelin star. Room and bathroom was big, famous wineries are 10 minutes by car. Perfect place!

This hotel was one of the nicest we’ve ever stayed at. Rooms were big and luxurious. The meals at the hotel were incredible. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating-Maria & others went above and beyond in everything that was needed.

Excellent service. Hi to Maria and the rest of the crew. Personalized service form the moment we walked in. Property is beautiful and clean. It was quiet this time of year but we prefer it that way. Room was ample, clean, beautiful with a great bed that is very comfortable. Perfect place for relaxing as a couple and enjoy good wine in Rioja. Taxi service was arranged by hotel. The grounds are beautifully maintained. They have kept the medieval nature of the surrounding with modern amenities at this great hotel. Food is delicious and Allegar as well as Calao is excellent in every way. The best tarta de queso Vasca that I’ve had had has been at the restaurant at the hotel. . Thanks for your hospitality. Will highly recommend

Great staff, our first time in Rioja. Hotel was amazing, excellent renovation combining old and new. Staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. Special thanks to Maria for taking such good care of us. Desire also was fantastic in the morning, remembering all our beverage orders each day.

The property has been gorgeously designed, the rooms are extremely comfortable, the restaurant is good and the staff is superb. I'm so glad we found this unique and memorable place.

One of the best Hotels I haver ever stayed.

Great hotel , great staff and food. But the church next block bell rings every 30mins or so 24 hours , prevents you from sleeping, I have never seen bell ringing at every hour of the day, including night time, very ridiculous and disappointing.

Wine country visitor

Beautifully restored property with great attention to use of the best materials. Room was very comfortable, spacious and functional, but with great architectural details. Staff was very attentive. Wonderful breakfast.

We enjoyed a day of walking, visiting the wine museum and eating lunch at Vivanca. The beds are extremely comfortable. The hotel restaurant is very good and, for lunch, the 4 Arcos is excellent and just around the corner (limited opening times). The church bells ring every quarter hour and then on the hour (maybe choose a room that faces the vineyard or courtyard if this is bothersome for you.

Perfect small town in Rioja.

The hotel is gorgeous and the service wonderful. We were in town during a local festival and had so much fun joining the events at the bullring and town square. We were the only locals there and everyone was so nice to us.

This property has only been open for 1 year and was rated the best local property in La Rioja by a poll. We had the opportunity to meet the owners who have a lovely story as to how and why they purchased the property and turned it into a luxury hotel. Less than 25 rooms total and the 3rd floor has stunning views of the Rioja Alta.
