The Staff Was Wonderful. Newly Renovated Rooms were very nice. We had basically an.Appartment with a Bedroom, Living Area, Kitchen, Washroom and Laundry Machine. The view from the Balcony was Fantastic of English Bay. Choose Room 2110 as its a corner room and you have a panoramic view. We wouldndefinatlynstay here again
Everything was good except the lack of elevators
Fantastic hotel and wonderful new suites. Professional and welcoming management.
Parking was horrible. Our vehicle was too large and didn’t fit anywhere for parking at the hotel. Access to the location was terrible
We enjoy staying at the Sandman on Davie. It is a great location to get to from the airport with public transport, close to shops and dining and the oceanfront boardwalk. The view is beautiful from the balcony.
The lobby and elevator were not very clean and are in need of some updating. The room is beautiful. Looks brand new. The staff was very friendly and professional.
This the best hotel i ever stayed in my life. Amazing staff, always available. Cleaning crew was amazing and the location is spectacular i highly recommend
Great place
Good stay
Our third amazing stay as a get away in the city.
Everything was so great but new pillows would have been perfect :-)
The reno in this property has really made it top notch. Love it. Convenient. Tons of food, shopping, entertainment options.
I’m disappointed that Expedia did not notify me of the renovation process going on at the hotel. It was unbearable between 10am to 3pm. I understand things happen but I should have been made aware prior to booking.
Great value!
All good.
The hotel is in a district i find convenient
While the hotel was great and I received great service, the area didn't feel very safe
View
Great service from the moment of check in
Nice
Great place to stay with many dining options handy. Easy walk to ferry to Granville Island.
A scent of Pot
Enjoyed my stay in a refreshed room which was perfect. Reno work was easy to still get around. Cable TV could be reviewed for channels relevant to today’s popularity. The pot smoking somewhere on my floor went on all week- I guess they can’t read or can afford the $300 damage deposit- it’s pretty common in hotels worldwide. I wasn’t bothered but it is smoking.
We have stayed here a few times before and haven’t had any issues whatsoever. It’s an older building that has had some renovations done. Thanks again
i had a pleasant stay
It was a very nice stay overall - the place has some renovation areas. The carpets are worn and there was an area in my room that smelled strange, but the kitchen was great, it was roomy. The bed was comfortable, the shower was strong and the hot water came immediately. It's a nice view - lots of stores nearby.
It could be nice but very shabby.
This neighgourhood is fantastic for travelers. It is eclectic, with plenty of choices for great food. It is also an easy walk to Stanley Park, Yaletown, Granville and the harbours. You also have great views from the property. Despite the potential and the price tag, it is inexcusably shabby. I hate getting ripped off by poor management!
Perfect location, room was exactly what I wanted.
Special touches for the Eras Tour weekend!
We stayed during the Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert weekend. The hotel was perfect for our needs. There was a Taylor Swift gift bag in our room and decorations in the lobby. The hotel helped make the weekend feel very special! The room was very comfortable, with a small kitchen and sitting area outside the bedroom. We had a balcony with a view over the city. Thank you so much for the extra touches!
area
stayed here this weekend for the taylor swift eras tour on sunday! we had the BEST time here. perfect for walking around i mean talk about location! we were fortunate enough to get a newly renovated room which are very nice!! the staff were very accommodating and friendly and always made us feel welcome! i will definitely be back, i already miss davie village and vancouver SO MUCH:( thanks again sandman suites! <3
To high priced for hotel features, parking fees ridiculous
Staff were very pleasant
nice location
Decent option for what was available for a swifty weekend, but hotel is in need of a refresh… which it seems to be getting. friendly staff and safe
Beware of Non-Upgraded Rooms
This was simultaneously the most expensive and worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I understand that pricing was high based on the Eras Tour being in town and we were willing to pay the price for the accommodations that were advertised. However, our room was absolutely disgusting and looked NOTHING like the photos shown in the listing. The hotel is apparently under renovations so some floors/rooms have been updated and those are the images used to advertise the hotel. Our room smelled like wet dog, some of the furniture was broken, the wall tile in the shower was buckling, the bathroom sink sprayed water everywhere and was boiling hot and the blow dryer only blew cold air. The carpet was filthy and the lampshades had mold growing on them. The staff were very friendly, but couldn’t help much since the hotel was fully booked.
Desperate times
We stayed here because it was walking distance from BC Place and reasonably priced for a high traffic weekend (we went to the Eras Tour). The service was great but the hotel itself was extremely dated and didn’t feel the most clean. The smoke detector was hanging on by a thread, the pull out bed had stains all over it. It was fine for the night under the circumstances we were in but I wouldn’t go back or recommend.
Excellent customer service and we loved our Taylor swift stand up and brackets they made us for the stay!
Went above and beyond for our stay for the Eras concert. Much appreciated.
I came in from Seattle for the Taylor Swift concert in this hotel rocked it. From the moment you walk in the lobby to the updated room with little gift bags with cookies and water and even friendship bracelets . The front desk answered tons of questions about where to go where to hang out. And it was a super easy walk to the stadium. The house cleaning crew was friendly too. Davie Street has tons of fun places to eat. Everything is walking distance.
Okay but beds need upgrades and more staff needed
Great location, nice little hotel. Service was friendly and tried to be helpful but severely understaffed leading to long checkout / bag check lines. Elevators were not all working leading to very long wait times at busy times. This was swiftie weekend so I'm sure they were 100% capacity but it was still difficult. Main bed was okay on comfort, sofa bed was not sleepable, so many springs and bars. They also gave us a cute welcome bag and face sparkles which was very sweet.
Great A
Swifty weekend.
Dated. Needs a remodel. Great location and views. Staff very professional.
We stayed here while we were in town for the Eras tour. This was the only room we could find for under $1k!!! I wasn’t sure what to expect based on mixed reviews, but hoped for the best and were very happy when we saw our room. Clean, modern and spacious. Lovely view from the balcony. The front desk clerk was pleasant and helpful, and check in was seamless. I’m not sure if this was initiated by the hotel or someone on Taylor Swift’s marketing team, but there was a sweet welcome bag in our room that included snacks, drinks, a friendship bracelet and TS stickers, which was a fun surprise. They also had a life size cutout of TS in the lobby for photo ops. It made things feel extra festive when fans were making friends and exchanging bracelets in the lobby before setting off for the show. It was a really nice touch and we so appreciated it.
It was a pleasant visit. Unfortunately, our stay was in the middle of their major renovations, however, that did not impact our stay there. The room was comfortable, the gym was a decent size, but lacking in free weights. Close to a lot of restaurants and attractions,
Was nice stay
Moldy food in the fridge, bugs in the bathroom, leaky toilet flooding the bathroom, broken curtain, wifi that didn't work, and stupidly expensive for no reason.
Overall, everything is good. The location is convenient for getting to the main attractions of the city. The room is newly renovated. The kitchen has all the necessary utensils of good quality. Thank you for this. Slippers were provided upon request, as well as an umbrella in rainy weather. Minus a star for the temperature in the room, it was quite cold, since the tiny radiator could not cope with the large room. Overall, we are happy with the holiday. Thanks to the Sandman team.
Nice newly renovated room. Thin walls.
Parking fees
Excellent Stay!
Easy to walk
Great location to access the city's amenities
I was provided an "upgrade" to penthouse (even though my upgrade request was ocean view. When I got to the unit it was outdated and a super odd layout. Bed right next to kitchen (no separate room), bathtub in the same room. TV in a deep dark upper corner above the bathtub. So odd. I went downstairs and asked for what I had booked (an updated unit with separate bedroom). They did accommodate me at at least. The updated units are good. But the hotel as a whole is VERY outdated and shows significant signs of wear. Not a huge deal but...
Loved the view!
Safe and clean
I had a very pleasant check in and got a free room upgrade! I always stay at the Sandman because the staff are so kind and the hotel is always clean. 5/5 experience!
Faranak, the receptionist was amazing and friendly and made the check in as smooth as possible.
Housekeeping rules!
I enjoyed my time there. I was not pleased that the housekeeper knocked at 9 am to see when i was checking out. I found that rude and really not part of her job. I wanted to sleep in a bit, but was prevented from doing so.
I love the sandman
The suite was lovely, especially for the price point. It had a clean, modern interior. It’s nice to stay in a suite instead of just a room - I’m sure the kitchen would have been great if we were staying for more than one night. Teresa helped us at the front desk and everything went smoothly. Would come back if I’m in the area!
Easy walking distance to St.Pauls hospital. And the friendly staff
My room was recently beautifully renovared and was huge. A great view and very friendly staff. Highly recommended
The hotel after two years is still undergoing Renovations. The Moxies restaurant immediately adjacent is also under renovations. Other than that a pleasant comfortable stay.
Additional Fees
Extra deposit needed at check-in. Confusing charges. Nothing listed about on the hotel webpage. Hotel under construction.
the ac and fan in the room was loud and outdated making it difficult to sleep, but aside from that it was fine. the room was also hotter than normal, but everything was clean and staff was extremely friendly
The king size bed was 2 twins put together
The renovated suite was nicer than I had anticipated. The space was compact and showing some wear, but did the job.
Property was excellent, the amount of homeless on drugs was a little overwhelming
I had lost my credit card and was not allowed to stay despite my offer of a cash deposit and presenting my ID.
the front desk lady was seemed like she did not want to check me in even tho i was being extra nice
Renovating happening. Noisy M-F. Very noisy on upper floors. We have a dog and got an old room. Sofa ok but rest of furniture is chipped and scratched. Desk drawer falling out. It seems if you have a pet you get the noisy upper older rooms. Has a ok kitchen and a separate bedroom. All small. Close to St. Paul’s so good for going there.
Great location, amazing rooms and super friendly staff. The pool and hot tub always seem to be closed though. Also the pillows arent very comfortable. Literally the only thing I don't like about the hotel is the pillows they arent flat like normal pillows they are big squishy balls that are firm in the middle so it's hard to get comfortable. All they need to do is get nice flat pillows and it's a perfect rating in my books. This is my family's fav place to stay in Vancouver!
Amazing
I don’t think I will stay here again The room had a smell to it damp smell, The bathroom door wouldn’t lock The water would leak from the bathroom tub while showering House keeping took a long time to deliver towels and shampoo upon request 1/2 hour There was nowhere to dine, and the pool was outdoors so unfortunately closed for the winter
I loved our view we were on floor 19 omg i loved our visit there
Dated
Stayed here (non smoking), there was obviously someone smoking, let the front desk know and all they did was come up and spray febreeze in the hallways. The room was disgusting, sticky spots on the floor, hair in the bathroom. We let front desk know, and to please send someone up. Nobody came up to amend the situation. Will not be staying here again unless absolutely needed. Do not recommend this to anyone.
Felt run down. Room smelled. View was spectacular
Construction inside the hotel. Above our room. Too loud. Furniture shows age. Smallish. Location great.
Always a great experience
I’m a repeat customer and love staying there. The suites are well appointed, and the location of the hotel is perfect for access by foot to the park, beaches, shopping and countless great restaurants.
We love this place - stayed here many times.
This hotel is in an amazing location!! 15 minute walk to downtown. 15 minute walk to the aqua boats to take you to Granville island. 20 minute walk to Stanley park and if your adventurous 30 min walk to gas town. They have an amazing soup dumpling place across the street and many other places to eat and go for drinks. My fiancée and I walked about 10 minutes to this cute bar called the ballyhoo. The hotel itself was super clean and the kitchen area was stocked with dishes and cooking ware! Hotel attendants came by every morning to ask if we needed more supplies. We will definitely be back!!!
The elevator, hallways and room reeked of stale smoke. The decor and facilities were rundown and in need of upgrading. The entrance to the hotel and parking is in the back alley which is overrun with garbage and overflowing dumpsters. A terrible first impression. The staff was courteous and friendly but we checked out after one night due to the condition and location of the property.
Very clean modern and great location!
The property is in a great location. The property is little out dated.
We loved staying at the Sandman. We got upgraded to a corner room w/ extra windows and were allowed to check in early to boot. I've stayed in finer hotels, but not with kitchens and balconies. Two telephones and two televisions! Super value...
Will return
Everything needed is on the block great views and great staff
value for money
we had an amazing ocean view on floor 22 !!! our room was updated, the only issue was the construction on the floor below for a bit noisy one day.
If needed clean enough. The sauna didnt work and had dirty stuff in and beer caps that were rusty. Very loud at night due to bars and clubs.
Did not like being so high in the penthouse. Property a little tired. Decor in need of improvement. Staff excellent, helpful, cheerful. Short walk to transport and town centre. Wife did not like window from room into bathroom. Enjoyed jacuzzi bath. Shower very powerful. Kitchen well equipped. Great views from the balcony.
Great rooms! Need a later checkout option. Half day rate is good for people who have flights in the late evening.
Very conveniently located in the Davies Village!
Good location, understaffed at front desk.
This was a great location for a stay in Vancouver. While the hotel is older and a little run down it was clean and comfortable. It was centrally located making it easy to access all sights in Downtown Vancouver. There were a ton of small independent restaurants to choose from within 800 meters of the hotel . The view of the sunset over the bay from our room was spectacular. Sunset Beach and English Bay Beach were close by as well.
Not sure if that a constant thing or not but seen a white bug in the room
This hotel was super expensive and it's outdated badly. The water was off from 10:30AM to 4:00PM
Within walking distance to everything.
Construction was occurring during my stay
Elevator extremely slow.
