My stay at the San Francisco Marriott Union Square was pleasant. The hotel's prime location near Union Square was perfect for exploring shops and restaurants. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with great city views. The staff was outstanding—friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The only minor downside was that some areas felt slightly dated. A strike was going on, and this detracted from the experience, but I don't fault the property for this. I recommend this hotel; it is great for business travel and is family friendly. I would gladly return.
Great
Great
First time staying here, was perfect for our weekend get away. We got the bay view and wow just wow it was beautiful. We will definitely be coming back anytime we are in the area.
Great location, walkable to union square, great service and rooms are nice and clean
All staff members that we encountered were lovely and helpful.
Valet and front desk staff could do better.
Amazing place with welcoming staff!
Will definitely stay there again!
Great spot. You can take the FREE train from the Warriors game and get off at Union Square!
Well located with many shopping stores nearby
The property was great despite the protests going on outside. It was safe and the staff was very polite. I also enjoyed the bar area and the room was quiet despite the noise outside.
Clean room with basic comfort
Nice clean room. Wish there were dimmer on the lights and a single switch to turn them on/off. Wished that the Wifi is not included.
Staff on strike for almost 2 months before we arrived. The front entrance with loud striking workers. This was not disclosed prior to our arrival
4 blocks away from the BART stop (Powel Street). Cable car stop near by as well. Great hotel to stay in while in downtown.
The hotel itself was very nice and staff was great, but some workers were on strike and were picketing right in front of the hotel entrance. Not just walking and carrying signs; no with bullhorns, drums and cymbals! Made it impossible to sit and enjoy a drink at the bar or breakfast in the morning as they were out from 7am-10pm! It would’ve been nice to have a heads up prior to arrival!
This hotel is ideally located, central to everything people want to visit in San Francisco.
The staff were extremely nice and helpful
Nice modern hotel in Union Square
Hotel is amazing. Too bad we stayed during a strike. They were super annoying. But the hotel staff was great. Union square definitely doesn’t feel as safe as it was a few years ago. Homeless are overtaking that part of the city
The staff could have been much friendlier; interactions felt as though they were doing us a favor rather than providing service. Throughout our stay, there was a strike taking place right in front of the hotel, which added to the overall discomfort. Additionally, there was a lack of clear communication on what the hotel offers, and prices didn’t match what was listed on Expedia. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
This Marriott Property's sevice staff is currently on strike and protesting is going on in front of the hotel. I booked my room months ago, this contract strike started one week before my stay, Marriott Corp chose not to inform their customers. Protesting with bull horns, drums and other loud music went of from 7:30AM to 10:00PM. You could hear it 2 blocks away. You could not get away from the constant racous of angry people. Not only was it loud, it was dangerous. I was escorted to the front desk by security, because the protestors were right in front of the hotel entrance. So suffice to say, our room was filthy and there was no service staff. Marriott should have communicated these unfortunate circumstances to customers who had booked rooms during this protest to give them a choice to make other arrangements. For them to keep this company conflict from their patrons is morally and ethically and maybe even legally wrong. I was told I would not get a refund for my stay. Unreal.
Didn’t appreciate the hidden charges that is not mentioned at the time of reservation.
Staff was really friendly and helpful.
Staff was amazing. And the area was safe enough for down town definitely better then some other areas we got to see around there.
The property was prime for my stay. I wish room service were offered.
The property was well suited in the Union Square area, close to the shopping and dining options. It felt safe coming and going and the front desk staff was very pleasant. The doormen are also extremely helpful and mannerable.
Nice, clean room with a great view.
Is Marriott, excelent as always
The Marriot on Union
The sheets smelled bad and musty.
Very helpful staff, clean facilities and good bed.
Clean , safe , comfortable
Good location to main city activities. Professional and friendly staff and front desk team. Valet parking staff were helpful to keep my car charged over night while staying there. Secure valet was a nice addition for that location and overall SF!
Nice bartenders
They charge a $30 resort fee each day that can be used in the bar or restaurant. The bartenders were very friendly and the service was great. The beds were less to be desired. Small doubles not very comfortable with thin pillows.
It was grest
enjoyed the stay for the most part, only complaint I will have is the valet. sometimes will take too long. need to call for your car at least 30-45 min in advance
Great room, great location, wonderful staff - everything you’d want
One of the few hotels where the resort fee actually added value. $30 daily food or beverage credit, 2 one way tram passes. Location was very convenient. Bar was fantastic to hang out and chill.
Clean property except for a nasty, dirty window in our room, friendly, helpful staff
The hotel was in a very centralized location in San Francisco. It is easily accessible to Metro and Public Bus services. There are plenty of restaurants available adjacent to the hotel which are walkable distances. The area is safe to walk around, even at night. As tourists in any destination, we were careful. The hotel also provided a free credit of USD 30 per room for purchase of food and beverage at the hotel. Plus, they provided 2 tickets for the Cable Car. The hotel is well maintained and an ideal place to stay for a visitor who needs a decent place to stay. Most amenities are provided by the hotel. There’s even a safe in the room to store valuable items. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. They kindly helped us with any enquiries and information requested.
We enjoy it
The hotel is at its best location if you want to roam around union square. The room is small but clean. I would like to comment that they dont have usb charger type in the room compared to other 3 star hotels that Ive been to.
It’s a gem in the middle of the jungle. The property was clean, well kept. The staff are nice and accommodating. Hats of to the doormen especially Fernando. ⭐️
Clean , nice , very close to everything , nice restaurant , good breakfast , very recommended
Clean, valet service, restaurant
Comfortable stay
Great time - great staff
I can't say enough about the staff at this hotel. It was amazing!
The staff was very helpful and always pleasant. The doorman was one of my favorite people. He always had a smile on his face and greeted me every day.
Second time staying here and the staff is always so nice!
Excellent beds and lining
I really enjoyed my stay here and wish that I could’ve been there longer to take advantage of how comfortable and safe I felt at this hotel. The bell hopper was always friendly. Checking in was easy and staff at the desk was friendly. I checked in with hailey. She is so sweet! She also helped me with an issue that I had in a timely manner. The room we got was spacious, clean, and unique. We got the room in the corner so there were more windows which was nice. My kids enjoyed it here, and I look forward to staying here again in the future!
I chose this property for 3 reasons, there was 2 beds in the room to accommodate the 3 of us, they have valet and the location. Staff were super friendly. My daughter loved the Cable Cars and I would definitely come back. Thank you Marriott!
Overall was a good locating room and restroom were a bit small but over all good. Parking overpriced.
Checks the boxes
Good for value, location, modern, clean, quiet
Staff was wonderful, housekeeping was polite, friendly and did excellent job. Room was spacious and comfortable.
Great stay
Good
Great staff in the facility !
Everything was great. Excellent service.
Excellent location. Elevators had some issues.
Our corner view room was beautiful. But more importantly was our treatment by a gentleman at the front desk. I'd like to say his name is Rob. He went above and beyond to make our stay excellent!
Convenient location, friendly staff, necessary amenities.
Convenient location. Close to restaurants and shopping places.
The staff was amazing and very helpful as this was our first time in San Francisco. There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. We were conveniently only 1 block away from the cable car pick up stop which takes you all the way to Fishermans Warf.
Nice hotel in shopping area.
Killer City Views!
Nice clean and comfortable room.
Great experience! Would stay again
Fine hotel. Very pleased.
The staff was excellent, friendly, and helpful in recommendations and travel. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Both doormen outstanding. Only glitch- when your seated for a 35 dollar buffet breakfast- get your first plate and then they tell you its last call-not cool.
Everything was great but I couldn’t understand the person checking me in. Food was good, but interesting experience with the food credit and breakfast experience. The bed and pillow were super comfortable.
Great location, the staff is attentive and professional.
All staff was extremely friendly, from the front desk, luggage attendants and restaurant staff. Breakfast was great, lots of variety and made-to-order omelet was delicious. Had a wonderful experience.
great location. handy for cable-car pick up

Great for the price
It was amazing to stay there. It’s very close to where my appointment is.Staff were very friendly and accommodating Thank you for making our stay memorable.
Great rates nowadays
Great location. Great staff.
Clean
Might be standard in USA but the resort tax of $30 per night is way too much and being asked to tip staff for a Self service breakfast is just taking the mickey..
I attended this hotel for my daughters College Graduation weekend, it was close proximity to good dining, the Highlight and Star of the whole experience were the staff members all were super helpful, even one carried my luggage to the parking lot that’s attached, the parking which allows in and outs at 61 bucks or so is a steal in the city! I parked and ubered around town, I’ll def be back!
Nice, beautiful big room
The front desk service was poor. They over charged both us as well as a colleague. They were reluctant to change anything. Very poor
Very clean and convenient. Very quiet through the night.
The experience was okay. They have an extra "destination fee" ($35 per day) which would have been nice to be informed in advanced. You can use the "credit" but you only have 5 options and they aren't that great. For example you can get 2 tickets for one way cable cart ride. It was less expensive to just buy it directly from the cable cart station for $8. Another disappointing item was I was unable to connect to the wifi so I had to use my own internet.
Cleanliness
They tack an extra $30 per day to your bill, tell you you can use it in the restaurant. We went to breakfast the last day of a two night stay. The breakfast buffet was $35 dollars, I thought I’d get $60 off. But he told me you “can’t carry it over”! You have to use the $30 each day! Such nonsense. Garage guy was rude. Desk people were nice. Union square area doesn’t have good walkable restaurants, we had to Uber everywhere. Also beware- there are 4 Marriott hotels by union square. I was meeting my sisters there who said to book at union square Marriott. Turns out we were in two different hotels two blocks from each other. One is Marriott, the other JW Marriott. Inconvenient, but they wouldn’t let us move around. It’s weird. Otherwise an average Marriott.
Very clean hotel, staff was very friendly and helpful!
Loved the location and my hotel room was lovely and clean.
We decided to stay at this hotel with the understanding it had a free continental breakfast. It was defi itely NOT free. We opted for the more expensive buffet one day and had COLD food that should have been warm. The continental breakfast included COLD steel cut oats. Their breakfast option overall was very disappointing for the price. $25 for continental and $35 for buffet. Everything else was great with the room and staff.

Excellent hotel
Comfortable and clean room. Executive lounge was great and very convenient.
Excellent
The staff on this property was amazing… Check in and in the restaurant, people were exceptionally friendly. Also, the rooms are very quiet and clean.
As selected per above.
The service from the staff was excellent.
Hayley (I think that was her name) did an outstanding job doing my check in… went beyond my expectations
Great Hotel
This hotel was amazing! Incredibly clean and well maintained. Slept comfortable and safely.
Amazing staff especially the Filipino staff at the door .Always smiling and happy.
