Great
Best property in venice
👍
It’s a great location to come back to after you have spent the day touring Venice. The hotel is on an its own island with great amenities and away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds, the hotel is 15 mins via water taxi provided by the hotel. It’s a great place for families.
Wonderful private island with the level of service that you have probably only read about before.
best way to experience Venice
Truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to
We stayed at the hotel for three nights this week and had a truly wonderful and relaxing time. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the the staff were excellent as was the overall level of service. We are planning to go back next year and stay there longer .
Great stay
Great location away from the hustle of the main city, excellent service but the breakfast team were under resourced so difficult to find anyone to just order a coffee etc. all other service was excellent
Fairy Tale Palace
The hotel is beautiful and best described as old world luxury! High ceilings with crystal chandeliers, wide hallways, a grand staircase all located on a private island. The grounds are tranquil with lots of greenery and artwork! The views are gorgeous. The room was very comfortable with a large bathroom. The complimentary boat shuttle to San Marco dock is a great feature. The staff is excellent, catering to your every need. Our visit was wonderful and we would love to return!
The building ans saff were 1st class
Beautiful historic property away from hustle and bustle of Venice shuttle service offered to Piazza San Marco). Room was lovely and large and Service we experienced was impeccable.
Is a Magic experience!
Beautiful
Beautiful hotel for a summer stay in Venice - a haven from the heat and crowds - loved the pool as there were plenty of sunloungers and you could find a quiet spot on the lawns if there were noisy children swimming. Service at the pool restaurant was quite slow and food over-priced but good quality. Breakfast buffet was fabulous and nice to sit outside in the courtyard if desired. Drinks service could be better but staff nice and friendly. Complimentary shuttle boat to Venice runs every 40 minutes starting at 9am - would be better starting earlier and running at least every 30 mins as long wait if you just miss it!
Unique situation in Venice
My favorite place I stayed in Italy. Secluded away from the madness of Venice. Amazing food at the hotel and the service was the best we got in Italy. The rooms were also quite big and the hotel itself was huge and lux.
Zero dry cleaning services available. Terrible taxi pick up and drop off services after midnight.
glorious luxury
Bell of St Clemente
What a beautiful hotel with an outstanding setting. All staff were friendly helpful and efficient. Breakfast first class plenty of choice. Ate at restaurant on our wedding anniversary and not disappointed food was delicious and service dry good.
This is luxury, service and pure enjoyment like no other. The property, room and all the staff were just amazing. The palace itself with its numerous buildings( church) and wide corridors and displays were exquisit along with the amazing food at the restaurant and breakfast....along with all the other amenities too. Never stayed at such a unique and luxurios place such as the Kempinski, San Clemente.
Amazing hotel and staff are great….Only problem is I didn’t get much sleep as the room was too hot with no air-con. This is turned off from 30th Sept onto heating system. I had to open window and now I am covered in mosquito bites.
Excellent property with amazing views of the city and water. A short water shuttle to the grand canal on any one of the property’s own boats. Linens are outstanding and you will want for nothing. Enjoy fresh pastries with outstanding breakfast (complimentary) and mimosas each morning. Several dining options and in house bars. Irene in the main bar was delightful, knowledgeable, and excellent! Our concierge was extremely helpful and attentive. This was my second visit to paradise and I will definitely be back!!
Amazing hotel, always clean in all areas. Staff couldn’t do more for you and always friendly and professional. My husband lost his credit card and within a few hours the staff had located it in the laundry! Breakfast was amongst the best I’ve had in a hotel, you could even choose prosecco if you wish! The water shuttle over to main Venice was always prompt, we loved our stay here.
Very private historic location. Far from the noise and crowded streets of Venice. Great pool and garden areas. Friendly staff and great concierge service.
Wonderful!!
Lovely views. Not crowded like the town. Great food
The location is amazing. The rest if really not great. Staff - seems like they are very understaffed (reception always had a long line, at breakfast it took ages to get someone's attention to get coffee and when we did - we got a wrong order twice..); Cleanliness - our room had a layer of dust and insects lying around - they cleaned once we looked shocked looking at that but c'on its a 5 star hotel. We ordered wine - it came 2d later. Air con was not working and it took them 1d to bring us a fan. Telephone in the room wasn't working either. Breakfast was really basic - nothing like it looked couple of years ago.
Don’t recommend this
Do not waste your money at this place. Lack of staff, hours to serve a simple lunch, no AC!! 4 restaurant but only one working, with less than 5 options on the menu. I couldn’t believe it is a Kempinski brand. It cost a fortune for them not to have plenty staff to work for.
11th to 17th April 2022 Review
Hotel was very under staffed and consequently the service was poor. The staff that were working were very helpful but completely over worked. The pool bar closed at 4pm, just when you need a drink after a long day sight seeing. Pool bar didn't serve food or cocktails. The hotel had no room service. The hotel is beautiful but had we known the hotel was so under staffed and with limited facilities we would have stayed in another hotel.
Very nice and clean hotel and staff . Amenities were limited due to cooler weather conditions bad timing on our part.
Not Even Close to 5-Star Experience
Pros: Beautiful location Friendly staff Cons: Room was 1 hour late - forgot our name several times during the 1 hour wait. Dinner took 1 hour for meal to arrive and still charged 18 euro for 2 small diet Cokes. Room listed as lagoon view - was obstructed view and considered an “upgrade” No response to address complaints
weekend away
Great location, really enjoyed the fact that the hotel had a complimentary shuttle boat over to St Marks Square. what a lovely weekend away.
We loved everything. The service, the food, the room….. it was amazing. It was pricey but well worth it
the whole stay was perfection. Staff were wonderful. An oasis of calm
Beautiful hotel on it's own private island. Staff was great, easy to get in and out of san marco with theirnfree shuttle service.
Loved everything in this beautiful hotel except it would have been nice to have an English speaking channel other than Al Jazeera
An oasis of calm from which you can access Venice easily and as often as you wish. Elegant, upmarket but not intimidating. Expensive but deals to be had and worth every penny.
The staff was very help full and patient with us on our limited Italian. Would stay again
Excellent staff. Lovely grounds. Delicious breakfast.
Great location and building, excellent service, generally 5 stars without being stuffy or pretentious.
This was an awesome resort to stay at for our anniversary! The property and rooms were elegant and the setting very romantic! Unfortunately, our luggage was lost on our way to Venice, but the concierge staff bent over backwards during our entire stay to try to help us locate it! Thank you!!
We loved the San Clemente and would absolutely stay here again. The rooms were spacious, the grounds beautiful, and the service excellent throughout, beginning with check-in. I would add that the air conditioning works exceptionally well, something to consider with the increasingly warmer summers. If I could change anything, it would be to lower the prices on both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (especially water and Aperol spritz) -- they are always high at hotels, which I understand from a margin perspective and incorporate into planning, but I think veers close to customer gouging in some instances since most of the people ordering are hotel guests and it's not as if one can walk outside and find another option.
Great place, staff need a little extra training.
Great place, staff need a little extra training. Senior staff on the ball. Restaurants excellent.
San Clemente is like a little oasis of calm and beauty!
The property was everything anyone could wish for. The setting is perfect
Stunning location, staff were almost all excellent. The views and facilities are all amazing. The breakfast buffet was extensive, but not great selections for Americans; i.e. really runny (wet) scrambled eggs. Also, the items were not timely replenished. They had an area with some Chinese Food selections, which were great, but they were almost always completely out of those items. One morning, they were out of the Chinese food by 8:45 and it was never restocked for approximately 1 hour. The hotel was preparing for a wedding at the time of our departure, which made our last day a bit hectic and not relaxing. The shuttle service is great, but does not leave early enough for some tours. Despite these comments, our overall stay was excellent!
Great location,beautiful hotel.
We had a fantastic stay at the hotel. Wonderful place. Great service and very good breakfast. The room was spacious and well appointed. Natalia at reception was fantastic at check in and check out. Will definitely return.
It was Grand , beautiful and luxurious The staff were wonderful. I loved this hotel!
Everything from the moment we arrived was perfect. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We look forward to our next trip to this location.
The boat shuttle service was reliable. I took water taxi from hotel to airport which was very convenient. The hallways have retained the peaceful monastic atmosphere. The reception & concierge were very helpful. Unfortunately the staff in the breakfast room require further training- how to be polite & not insolent to paying clients. Nevertheless the uniqueness is most appealing.
Oasis off Venice
I highly recommend staying out of the madness of Venice on this lovely private island. The grounds are exceptional and while the hotel could use a room facelift, we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Amazing value for the price.
The staff were incredibly polite all around the hotel , always saying hello. The service at breakfast was poor unfortunately. There didn’t seem to be enough staff so the requests fir tea and cofffee etc took a long time. The actual food selection was good.
The hotel is glorious. Perfectly located on its own island about a 10 minute free hotel boat ride from St Marks Square. Hotel is an ex monastery and has been fantastically renovated and converted to a hotel. It has big rooms, plenty of space, nice grounds, a great swimming pool, attentive staff, great bar and good food (not cheap though!). A small gym and spa area. It was just absolutely perfect to spend a day sightseeing in Venice and then be able to escape the hustle and bustle to go back to the hotel and chill. Highly recommended and we had a wonderful stay there.
Tranquility
Great Hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Venice.
Everything was wonderful. Nothing to improve on!! Special commendation to Antonio the concierge who once again made our visit memorable. He is part of the reason we return to San Clemente.😁😁😁
Hubby and I are already planning our trip back. Absolutely love the property. Venice is very busy to begin with, so being able to get away from the mayhem, enjoy a sunset and drinks on a quiet retreat was perfect. They’re shuttle runs every 30 minutes which is great, however its pricey getting to the island when you arrive and leave. To head to the airport was $145 Euros and taxis wanted $90 Euros from the train station - more than NYC lol. Only wish I didn’t look up the history of the island, I had a little difficulty falling asleep night 1 thanks to my husband ha.
The hotel is situated on its on island and the staff was as friendly as ever nothing is too much trouble I would fully recommend the hotel and the fact you stay out of the main centre means you can relax. There is also a complimentary boat that takes you back and forward from the hotel to mainland Venice. This is my second stay here and yet again did not disappoint I will no doubt be back to stay in the future.
An expensive luxury
Lovely hotel. Went after the floods - St Marks Square heaving so lovely to get on the SAN Clemente boat and leave it all behind. Very quiet. With that comes the logistics of making sure you are on schedule for the boat as the water taxis from the hotel, to go anywhere, are very expensive - €65+ one way. The food and drink are very good but very expensive. Minimum £50 for a bottle of wine whereas £25 the going rate in town. Burgers €28!! But if you can deal with the price the unique nature of the hotel is special. Rooms nice, breakfast great, views spectacular. Sat in the sun nd watched the boats go by. Special place.
Such a unique hotel. Very nice gardens and landscape. It’s a grand hotel and it is make you want to leave the hotel. Amazing views over looking Venice.
Location and the property are great, I had a pre-arrival issue but the recovery and the compensation i had was fabulous. Alicia from guest relations was lovely
A really beautiful location, sadly we didn't get to try out the restaurant or breakfast but everything else was perfect. Cannot fault it.
Bring your own iron
Beautiful isolation - Service not terrible
Service disappointing for 5 star hotel
Lovely hotel setting on nice private island. Disappointing lack of service though when we had to initially complain that our room didn’t have all the facilities it was supposed to have - given we had paid for a very expensive suite we thought it was fair enough to expect everything stated to be in the room! We had to repeatedly request refill coffee every single day as they never replaced them in the room and despite calling reception, concierge and then giving up and going to the front desk 2 - 4 times each day to continually ask as they kept ‘forgetting’ it felt a bit ridiculous! For a 5 star hotel with these prices we felt this was disappointing that they couldn’t fulfil a small request like this that other hotels do automatically, daily, without even having to ask once. Really frustrating. On a positive note the kids club was great with wonderful friendly staff and my daughter truly loved spending time with them. She was sad to have to say goodbye when we left!
Superbly located hotel
Lovely hotel, ideally located away from the centre but easily accessible using the complimentary water taxi. A couple of issues were dealt with by Sharma, the customer services manager, in the best customer service response of any hotel I have stayed in. It made such a huge difference between feeling dissatisfied and feeling really cared for.
An amazing experience fit for royalty
Amazing experience for for Royalty.
Beautiful Hotel Away from Hustle/Bustle of Venice
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful hotel in a peaceful location on it's very own island just minutes away from Venice. Everything about this hotel was magnificent; from the interior decor, the grounds, the delicious breakfast, the facilities and the friendly staff.
Island Paradise
The hotel and the grounds are amazing. The pool area very good with lots of shade with a restaurant for light lunch. The bed was comfortable with high thread count sheets. In the evening their is jazz drinks and tapas served at the one bar . We had dinner one evening . The food was good and we enjoyed the relaxing evening , but it is nouvelle food with small helpings and the helpings are very small and the service was very slow . We did not have breakfast with our room rate and at 48 Euros we didn’t try it , although we had room service and the omelettes were very good . The boat service runs to St Marc’s square every 20 mins and it is really nice getting back to the whiteness of the hotel . It is a very good hotel and would definately recommend it
Beautiful island away from the crowds of Venice
Exceptional service, the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Amazing setting with beautiful grounds away from the hustle and bustle of Venice with regular shuttle boat to and from San Clemente.
The property is beautiful but the service is terrible and very inconsistent. The boat service to Venice was charming but it can be crowded and the boats the lack of air conditioning in the cabins makes it A trip from hell. Not going back to this property.
Best hotel in the Venice area if you want to treat yourself to something luxurious. This truly is a 5 star!!!
Loved this hotel and everything else about it. The people that work there were so nice and professional.
A wonderful hotel to return to after spending the day in Venice. We loved the pool and the gardens. Having a church on the property was special. Valentina was especially helpful at the reception desk. I would recommend San Clemente Palace to any one traveling to Venice.
Excellent service especially from Antonia at Conceirge Desk
Beautiful hotel
I would recommend this hotel as this is a very beautiful clean and outstanding hotel. We travelled with our three-year-old child and stayed in the hotel for four days. This hotel is located in an island close to Venice in a very quiet and calm environment compared to Venice which is a very busy city. The hotel staff are really kind :-) helpful and efficient. the hotel has a pool and next to it there is a restaurant.there are in total two main restaurant and a bar we dined in both restaurants and also in the bar however it's a bit pricey compared to the quality of the food. Overall I would rate this hotel as outstanding and if I were to travel to Venice I would go to this hotel again also there is a shuttle boat from hotel to Venice which is free of charge every half an hour also the hotel does a complimentary visit to glass factory
An amazing property and the staff was amazing also! Only issue mosquitos
Food and service were spectacular. Nice to have a break from the crowds but only a 15 minute boat ride to San Marco.
Spectacular hotel, with a few caveats
Spectacular hotel, luxurious, grand, tranquil, on its own island. The rooms, staff, and comfort were as expected. No issues there. One frustration we overheard from other guests (speaking in there own languages on the water taxi into town) was the exorbitant costs of breakfast and other meals. Even among the well-healed customers of this leading hotel, 50 Euros per person for a simple buffet breakfast struck many as pushing island-based monopolistic pricing power a bit too far. Dinner is equally steep for a good, but not exquisite, experience. All in all, a lovely place and we would come back, but not for the food.
Fabulous hotel and location
Hotel and service was outstanding. Complementary boat every 20 minutes to and from the island, free mini bar (first consumption), free bottled water daily, big air conditioned rooms, outstanding views and lovely cocktails.
Great place and wonderful staff!
An amazing location in need of some attention.
The Palace is an amazing setting. Arriving by boat is a great experience and its so nice to be away from the craziness of Venice. We did find the place in a bit of disrepair though. Our room was fine but the mini fridge was broken and the shower did not drain. The bed was great and the room was large. For the price, I felt like it was not a great value overall.
A unique property! It is a true oasis in Venice. San Clemente is a beautiful private island with amazing landscape and amazing views of Venice. Please take the breakfast option with your package, you will not regret to eat there and then go spend your days learning about Venice, Murano, Burano and other great islands that form the region. Avoid dinner at the hotel. The hotel is still pushing small over priced french influenced cuisine that are not good for the region. Why not a more family portion authentic Italian cuisine to go with such a beautiful place? I would have stayed and spend more money at the property in the evening with a different cuisine. Food for thought!
Excellent hotel and beautiful grounds and delicious food.
Historical magnificent Hotel set on private island
The Hotel's history goes back to the 10th century, recently renovated, with its own Church, 2 Restaurants, 3 Bars, Spa, large Pool area and the Hotel itself is stunning. The hotel/facilities/grounds are superbly kept and spotlessly clean. Front desk and concierge are welcoming, highly efficient and helpful, as are the folks managing and piloting the complimentary boats of age old leather and wood elegance that are on a regular schedule to/from Venice Piazza San Marco. Being away from the maddening (tourist) crowd in Venice but with easy access was absolutely ideal. The Hotel would do well to have random 'spot checks' that provide regular feedback as the below issues are easily rectified if they noticed them: Front desk, concierge and boatman speedy, efficient, friendly and helpful - possible they 'personify' ALL staff Restaurant located Poolside - unpredictable food quality Slow Pool-side service with some of the call-out systems not functioning No access to just 'coffee' or 'coffee and croissant' in an informal setting from 07:00 - 09:00 outside of room service or sitting in the restaurant (i.e. 'kiosk' setting) Mini Bar does not include any snacks or wine Business Area in the Hotel is beautiful but not so functional in terms of gloomy lighting, lobby music difficult to make calls, no spare power sockets, improper desk seating, no access to complimentary water/coffee/soft drinks or fruit
Beautiful hotel on its own island
The hotel is pure luxury. After a busy morning walking round Venice with all the other thousands of tourists it is such a relief to get the free shuttle bus back to the hotel and have some quiet time then relaxing and cooling off by the pool. The staff are efficient and friendly and the food is excellent. Overall I would highly recommend San Clemente and if/when I go to Venice again I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
FANTASTIC!!!!! WILL NEVER STAY ANYWHERE ELSE IN VENICE!
Forget about Venice
Such a nice hotel that one wants to forget about visiting Venice and just enjoy all this hotel has to offer.
Pure luxury, beautiful hotel. Had an amazing weekend to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday. Hotel exceeded expectations
San Clemente Venice
Amazing
A beautiful property with friendly and accommodating staff. Everything, with one exception, was absolutely first rate. My only complaint was the food. Whether it was the breakfast buffet, breakfast served in our room, or dinner on the lagoon patio, the food left a lot to be desired.
This is a very good hotel. The staff and level of service, excellent. Attentive but not intrusive. We also liked being able to get away from the hustle and bustle etc... too. Expensive hotel, but the location sort of justifies this, as does the approach to free water taxis. I would recommend.
Good hotel to relax and just a short boat trip away from St Mark’s Square
Quite and Elegantl
The property is well maintained and very welcoming. The Palace is enormous but well appointed. The staff was helpful at check-in, with baggage, in the lounge and during checkout. Our room was comfortable and we loved the huge vaulted ceilings which made the room feel even more glamorous. After traveling from city to city my travel partner and I both agreed this was the quietest night sleep in all of Europe (27 countries we visited). No loud people in the streets, no cars, no church bells and no construction.
Amazing hotel
Amazing place, great staff made our experience a memorable one and would recommend
Stunning setting.
Beautiful hotel, ideal for a special treat! We went for my husband's birthday as a surprise and it was perfect. With the private transfer to and from Venice it was great to be close to the hustle and bustle of the centre ( only 10 minutes away) but lovely to come back to the peace and quiet of the hotel and gardens.
Fabulous hotel, great stay!
The hotel is on its own island which makes you feel like royalty when arriving by water taxi. The building and decor and very beautiful. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
Special Romantic last days in Italy
Fantastic Hotel : We arrived on the last flight in and ferry at night which was highly stressful as there are only expensive options if you are late. It keeps the night noise to zero which is great. We had wonderful two nights and day by the pool. Highly recommend this for those who do not want the crowds of Venice and a tranquil holiday. Loved coming back after a crazy day of sightseeing
It was a great place to stay
The hotel was in a wonderful setting on its on island just a short boat ride away from the main island. The boat is very regular and free to all hotel guests the journey only takes 10 mins and allows you to get some good photos from different views. Staff was friendly and helpful we will be visiting again soon top marks for a top hotel.
Great Hotel
Excellent choice - A lovely escape from the busy city.
It was a beautiful property. The rooms were large with high ceilings and a beautiful granite bathroom. The property itself was beautiful with lush foliage, pool and views of Venice. The staff are the nicest people.
