The facility is very nice and the staff are all extremely service oriented. Everyone was helpful from the housekeeping to the front desk and concierge services. Had a problem with no hot water one night and the next day which was eventually fixed after a couple of cold showers. Also, the bar was crowded and while they said they could get us a table with a little wait we never got in and had to go out for food elsewhere after waiting more than an hour.
Property is beautiful and ideally located. Absolutely loved the music playing in the lobby as well as the popcorn at the bar. However, the brunch was NOT worth the money. Nor was the stay. Very few amenities. But the rooms do have a Nespresso machine which is great! The staff was always friendly, especially the doormen. However, I was given competing information about the checkin process from two different front desk clerks. Additionally the hot water went out in our room for about a day - something I do not entirely hold against the hotel - but I expected that the inconvenience would have been accommodated more than an offer to shower in the spa. I guess for it to cost 2 to 3 times more than the other hotels I looked at, I just expected more.
Great hotel and great location for sight seeing the monuments and cherry blossoms.
Very posh hotel clearly targeting the business professionals of DC. The staff and service are great. Room had a few issues but the view of the river was perfect. Did not get a chance at dinner but menu seemed very nice. Breakfast buffet was not great and very overpriced.
Nice
Beautiful but deceptive.
I will never stay there again. Although the hotel was beautiful and the food was delicious, we were treated like we were invisible. Doormen open doors for many others, yet I opened most doors myself. A maid entered our room after checked in. The concierge, Jennifer appeared polite and accommoding over the phone, but when she asked us to meet her in the lobby, things changed. She greeted us with smiles and offered to honor HER promise to provide a $60 resort credit AND provide a $100 credit for our breakfast buffet bill due to the invasion of the maid. (Buffet breakfast for two adults was $85+tip) Several hours after checkout, my credit card was charged a $160 room deposit fee and a $35 room service fee. The $60 resort credit was not applied. Jennifer deleted that $60 credit after meeting us. She did honor the $100 breakfast buffet credit, however, that won't be confirmed until all charges are final on my credit card. I did appreciate the early check in and the late check out, but I will not return due to the treatment by some of the staff.
Omg I love this hotel
Very comfortable with nice pool and fitness facility. Full service spa, a comfortable bar with good service but it closes at 10:00pm. Nice new restaurant has created a buzz.
Gorgeous
The windows are almost soundproof. The view of the water allowed us to see the fireworks (and we didn’t hear them). The bed and sheets were wonderful. The Dogon restaurant is Amazing!
Cherry blossom weekend stay
We had a lovely stay, Your staff is very professional and helpful. Our room was very nice The cold showers were not the fault of the hotel, but of a boiler that was faulty, I understand. We had breakfast at the hotel three times and it was very good! I clearly understand it was an insanely busy weekend! All in all, I thought everything went smoothly except for the showers We would certainly come back again
Beautiful property, friendly staff
The Salamander is the perfect hotel for the Cherry Blossom festival. You can walk to the Tidal Basin from the property. The staff is also very friendly.
Staff was super friendly and attentive. Very clean. Parking price was a bit steep but overall a great, quality stay!!
This property is luxury personified! Love this place!! You are conveniently located and can walk to all the key sites in DC. A must!
Amazing place to stay
An amazing trip.
The property is beautiful and very walkable. The food service is a disaster. 24 hour room service is a joke no one answers phone 20 minutes guest services does not answer 20 minutes. In person trip talking to manager at front desk got food to arrive 60 minutes later cold. If you want food walk to wharf.
All of the staff were very attentive and responsive when we had issues. The hotel was walkable to the wharf, tidal basin and museums. It was kid friendly (staff was so sweet to our 1 year old, supplied crib and baby toiletries and had small play room). Our main issue was that it felt like the hotel’s dining options catered to people not staying at the hotel and we were never able to eat in lobby/on terrace. As a result, We ended up having to spend a lot on room service as the main walkable restaurants were on the wharf, and while there is a pedestrian walkway, it requires you to carry stroller up and down two flights of stairs, which we weren’t always in the mood to do.
Cherry Blossom Weekend
It was a very busy weekend with the cherry blossoms but everyone was amazing. Service was very prompt and helpful from the desk to the valet parking.
Staff was overwhelmed and feel that the staff was short
I loved the elegance and diversity. The food was superb
This property is gorgeous! It is also situated between the National Mall and the Tidal Basin and all the cherry blossoms! Easy access to the Wharf also. Everyone was very helpful and cheerful and made our 3 night stay very pleasant!

Property exceeded my expectations. Parking is very pricey but it’s valet and they move extremely quickly. The bed was BEYOND COMFORTABLE! Can’t wait to go back!
One of my favorite hotel experiences in DC! Love the comfort, amenities, and dining options!
Very nice and luxurious
We loved our stay! Salamander did a wonderful job of making our trip so fun. My daughter forgot her googles for the pool and they had one for her!!!
Great stay
The staff was amazing
Beautiful hotel with excellent spa and great bartenders/cocktails
One of the best
Amazing stay and hotel. We will return and highly recommend.
Nice
Great hotel. The location was great, close to the mall but far enough to be quiet.
The service by the concierge and restaurants was extraordinary and very attentive.
Perfect lication
The hotel had a classic feel without being dated. It was also a 5 min or less walk to the shops and restaurants at the Wharf or you could also eat at the restaurant on site. We loved it and will be back.
All areas were very clean and every staff we talked to was incredibly friendly.
Everything was perfect from check-in to check out! Everyone was so nice and helpful, cant wait to return!
They were VERY attentive and accommodating.
Nice but overpriced. Also no close very good restaurants within walking distance to eat.
First Class property with impeccable amenities and exceptional dining options! Conveniently located to local DC historical landmarks, eateries and transportation. Highly recommended!
Overall, a wonderful property. There are clear maintenance deficiencies throughout the property. There was a large blower outside of my room attempting to dry the hallway carpet from a water leak. The smell from the blower was quite naturally unpleasant. The sink in the bathroom didn’t drain. However, these are isolated issues and don’t necessarily reflect a persistent problem. Overall, great value and experience. Well worth the investment and time spent.

Nice area
It was a. Lovely trip-
Hotel was very nice . Staff were all very friendly and professional. Pool was very nice but a bit cold. Overall the hotel was excellent. We would definitely come back!!
Amazing
Good place to stay
This stay at the salamander was a little less than my expectations. The one thing that made things better were the managers, they were on top of everything. Although there were some things subpar the managers professionalism and troubleshooting for resolutions made it almost effortless. I would like to say thank you to Joe, the housekeeping manager, he was very kind and understanding. The restaurant was good. The location was excellent a 10 minute walk to the wharf. Close to the monuments. Another area that I feel that can be worked on a little is the valet parking. I'm accustomed to pulling up to a valet parking stea, and someone opening up the door to greet me, and get my key, but at this hotel I sat in the car and if you sat there they would never come open up the door. However when it was time for their tip they ran like you wouldn't believe to help. My room had the view of the Potomac, it was beautiful. Nice amenities. Fire pits, indoor pool, steam room, spa and gym. The only coffee machine in the room was the espresso my husband or I like expresso. That bathtub was to die for. Don't put bubbles in you will slip and slide. Just the plain water. It almost seemed filtered.
good jsut dont double charge me
The hotel is beautiful! The entire staff is absolutely amazing! 💕
Service and cleanliness is everything
There was a towel hanging in the bathroom with spots on it, when the bed was made the first night it was apparent the sheets were not changed and they weren’t tucked under mattress. For 2 adults only 2 washcloths were left in the room and when we asked the cleaning lady for 2 more she said she didn’t have any. There was a strain of hair on the floor in the bathroom and that was going to be my indication if the floor was swept, it was still there. For the cost and high end resort there should have been more attention to detail. The resort is beautiful, but not meeting expectation.
Best stay I’ve ever had. I will definitely frequent the salamander in the future
.
I love the views. But it has changed since the property was the mandarin oriental. It needs to be renovated and updated.
Salamander is a lovely hotel, but it had a bad odor, like sewage, during our entire stay. Other than that, it really was a nice place, so I hope they can get the sewage issue under control.
First rime visit that didnt disappoint!
The service was nice. Front desk staff was helpful. Our room was very clean and beautiful. Loved the vibe!
We had a lovely stay and the service was amazing.
Excellent property to stay and see things around. Planning another trip in cherry blossom season
Loved the stay
too far from things
Went above and beyond to help
The Salamander Hotel provided excellent accommodations. The service was superb. We valued its location proximal to DC’s museums, the Metro, and the airport.
Outstanding
Top notch from breakfast to dinner to amenities to fit and finish of the rooms to the staff. Smooth, friendly, wonderful experience.
Enjoyable Stay
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They made a strive for excellent service and felt it was a positive environment for everyone.
Service, Service and Service
Outstanding service and luxury.
Very elegant hotel. Ate at Dogon and it was different but delicious. The rum cake was amazing
The staff was very friendly and attentive.
Excellent hotel! Friendly staff! Perfect location!
Buffet breakfast was mediocre; much inferior to previous at the hotel. We were advised not to order a la carte because the kitchen was so backed up with room service orders.
Very clean and very attentive. Staff has been amazing at making our stay comfortable
We really enjoyed our stay at Salamander. Room was very nice and everything looked new. Food was good but a bit expensive. The hotel has a great location, you can walk to the wharf on one side and the all the monuments on the other, and you also have two Metro stations really close. A great option to stay in DC.
Beautiful!
Salamander DC has beautiful rooms, elegant dining and meeting spaces, and great views. My wife and I stayed for a couple nights celebrating our 15th Wedding Anniversary and enjoyed every minute. We did everything from the spa, diner at Dogon, used the fitness center, took a dip in the pool, and relaxed in our comfortable suite. Staff was attentive and always helpful. We’ll be back.
Great DC location, staff were very responsive and friendly, Dogon restaurant dinner was amazing, a little disappointed there’s no hotel boutique like the other Salamander properties I’ve been to.
Elegant, enjoyable, extremely helpful staff!
Truly elegant and a "home away from home!"
This hotel is in walking distance of the wharf for dinner choices and the National Mall for checking out the sites. They also have complementary cruiser bikes which we used every day.
Everyone was very kind and the hotel was lovely.
Completely Lovely
Impeccable service. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable. Definitely a lovey memorable experience!
The Best of the Salamander !!!!
My stay was absolutely amazing being met by bellman who were very accommodating. The front desk was very friendly and professional and guided us through checking in. The room was absolutely stunningly beautiful with a great view.
Beautiful property, very close to Wharf dining options.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was cleaned well.
Fantastic hotel and a great location.
Great stay
Such a luxury staycation! 90 minute massage with Dwayne was phenomenal! Dogon restaurant was delicious!
Loved this hotel. Can’t wait to come back. The rooms were very clean including the washrooms. First time being in a hotel where the washroom was actually cleaned as well and didn’t feel dirty! Amazing staff, loved my stay and will be booking another one very soon
We will be back often, it is a great property
Every person was amazing! The property was great. Location was wonderful. We felt safe.

Excellent!
Breakfast was poor for a luxury resort. Not even cheese was available and not even an omlette station was there. Poor fruit selections. They could do better with their spa treatments specifically the facial.
From the first interaction with the Valet, each interaction with the staff exuded a commitment to outstanding service. Professional, courteous, and considerate, we were made to feel as if we were the most important and appreciated guests in DC. Curated class and elegance, the Salamander of Washington DC is a gem!
The Salamander franchise remains undefeated in hospitality. The venue is breathtakingly beautiful and the rooms are exceptional yet approachable. I enjoyed the soaking tub and it’s beautiful staging in the bathroom! I also thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. The chef honored my requests and my food was exceptional and it arrived hot! They also delivered my tea before bed. It’s not cheap to stay for, but the Salamander is a testament to the finer things in life…and that what you pay in money you will be rewarded with an invaluable experience. I cannot wait to return!
Great place
Nice property in a good location. I think it used to be a mandarin o. Rooms are nice but could use a refresh
The staff was excellent. The hotel was absolutely beautiful and the location was perfect and close to everything DC has to offer. We had the best time and would stay there again!
Very attractive and beautiful view of the city and its surroundings!
The staff of the Salamander were exceptional. From the minute we arrived we were treated to like valued guests. Every interaction we had with the people of this hotel, from the bellman, the front desk, the hosts and servers at the restaurant was outstanding. Our room was quiet and comfortable. You can walk to the wharf area where there are plenty of restaurant options.
Beautiful back courtyard overlooking the river and a footpath across the highway to the Dwarf. Excellent location and great service!!
