Nice hotel
Comfy, quiet & a very nice buffet breakfast. Also a short walk to the town centre
This was a meeting place for a tour.A good choice.
Well-proportioned rooms. Excellent restaurant and knowledgeable staff.
Good
Clean new room. Excellent staff at check in.
great
We really liked the size of our room, our comfy bed, spacious bathroom with a large shower, and all within walking distance to the centre of the city. We paid for parking on site which was reasonable and convenient. We’d definitely stay here again.
Nice clean hotel with helpful staff.
Nice clean hotel with a nice restaurant adjacent. Staff are very nice and helpful, I particularly liked the fact that they reward you for not having your room serviced every day, it’s a very good idea. The only thing a would add is a microwave in the rooms, that would be very handy to have. Hotel is not right in the city, it’s a bit of a walk from the centre, there are others that are more central.
Across the street from a park, short walk to downtown.
Friendly, helpful staff & spacious room & ensuite. Close to the city centre so walking was easy & dining options were great. Loved my stay.
Great location in Christchurch! Friendly stuff, convenient and vey clean!
Great bed and shower, ultra clean and quiet rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Best accommodation option for us in NZ so far
Great Food
Good hotel with **Stellar** food at the hotels restaurant. (Like a place trying to earn a Michelin Star.)
I didn’t like the fact that I was only advised in a seperate email days leading up to my stay that parking now comes at a cost. This should be noted in the details when booking.
Comfortable, convenient, and accessible!
Lovely hotel and staff
OK
Excellent
Clean comfortable and close to the city
Very close to Christchurch central with its many attractions and restaurants.
Excellent restaurant, friendly bar staff, comfy large room.
Short break
Previous hotel was terrible so booked last night of stay here. Excellent room. Clean and quiet. No problems. Although first time there was a parking fee which made it a bit more expensive
We loved the location 😊 it was all clean and welcoming. Loved the family room but sadly wasnt told about it which would of been nice at.check in. We also would of loved some cultery and plates as we were traveling with a little one, you provided it apon request which was nice. The heat pump in our room needed filters cleaned, when we put it on heating it smelt horrible.
Breakfast selection was good standard.
Please note the hotel now charges for parking. I would have stayed elsewhere had I known this when I booked. Also, the hotel doesn't offer a broad selection of TV channels as many other places I've stayed do. For these two reasons, I found the accommodation overpriced. I've stayed at many other places in Christchurch with better amenities and free parking. But there is a bar and restaurant on site so if that's the most important criteria, then it's probably fine for you. The hotel staff are excellent, friendly, and helpful.
Family stay
Very convent location and walkable to downtown and shopping areas
Very nice hotel with a good breakfast buffet. Clean, spacious rooms and bathroom. We didn’t try the restaurant for dinner. Very nice location and easy to get to different areas of the city. Wish we had stayed in Christchurch and this hotel longer. Staff was very nice and helpful.
Issue with aircon and noisy toilet pipes
Good one for family
Walk distance to restaurants and sightseeing. Amenities including restaurant and gym, option to do your laundry. Very clean and in great conditions with spacious rooms.
Loved the stay. Unfortunately lost a pair of shoes while there. I have called about them as I know they have gone amiss. We put our bags in the room while we left & before we checked in later in the evening Felt they were safe there but opening my bag next morning in our room my shoes werent there.. Never to be found. Room 122. Carol van Hout 14th..15th December.
Clean, modern hotel. Close to city centre.
Has parking $20 but secure gated. All staff very pleasant. Clean, comfortable room. Only thing could hear children jumping around in room above very early in morning. Otherwise very quiet.
Naaa
This property is not about 5-10 minutes walk away from the city center which suits some people who doesn't like crowd. The staff are friendly and helpful. This property offers a laundry room where guests can use. One thing that bother me is my room is facing the street, since the windows of my room can be opened, the sound proof of it is a bit off. I was waken up every morning around 6am because a truck was parked downstairs and was doing some operations which causes lots of noise.
Nice property close to downtown
Site great, Service depends on who, food NO!
I arrived at the hotel 6 hours before check in - I utilized the bag drop service; and the reception offered to put my room on the priority list for housekeeping and would call me once it was done to allow an early check in (great offer!) - So I went for a walk for a coffee (C1 in the area) - then around the sights - until approximately 14:00 - asked for an update and my bag (needed something out of it) - and was advised it wasn't ready yet; and it could be put on the priority list! I advised I was told this, the reception took a moment then had a room for me. Annoying, failure one. The hotel was quiet, tidy, comfortable and in high quality the room perfect, bathroom great, hot water solid pressure and heat, AC/heating in the room; fresh air option (windows), usual amenities - however empty minibar! with a sign that i could only call to the room service but it wasn't 24/7 - lost opportunity there! - issue 2. First evening had a dinner at the resturant on site - 15 of us Bloody Mary's the waitress (American lady, on her birthday was AMAZING; attentive, engaging with the table and kept us all with full drinks and clearing empties etc top tier! The meal however - the steaks, all overcooked from talking to 6 of the table; I ordered the Wagyu Steak (the A5/top tier) expecting high quality preperation for a medium - it came out near well, and definitely wasn't Wagyu - however, the entree (venision pastry dish was top tier; perfectly served) - not enough charaters - TLDR -not ok
Glad to have good breakfast at the property
Value for money
Amazing
Clean, safe, helpful staff. Incredible breakfast.
Alright place but no thrills.
Beds are comfortable and clean, Quiet area. Basic lighting in the room, no bedside table lamps. Toilet in the bathroom was stained at the water level, this was off putting! Breakfast very basic.
The hotel had introduced paid parking since our last stay, and this wasn't obvious when we booked. We would have chosen a different hotel if we had realised. Its a shame as we have used this hotel several times due to its central location (to Chch overall, not to the city centre) and easy parking. We will just have to choose somewhere else in the future.
Average
The check in went smoothly and the room was good. We had a balcony which was small. The bathroom was clean and well appointed. My major gripe with this hotel was the fact of charging paying hotel guests $20 per day to park on the premises. Not sure how common that is, but ive never struck it before. For visitors, by all means. But for guests, i thiught was a bit much
Very clean, lots of parking spaces, property a little outdated
When we got into our room, we found the toilet was not cleaned at all and we could see disgusting stains on the seat also some hair on the towels. Asked room service to clean and the lady who came for cleaning was very nice and cleaned all the toilet area and changed the towels. The reception was not helpful even during the check in didn't give us any advise on the parking area and that we needed to pay for the daily park there. Location was good and just walk to the centre.
It will be super great if there's a swimming pool with spa/sauna for old guests.
Great location - great onsite bar and restaurant. Easy walking to Riverside Market.
Up to international standard - quiet and pleasant over looking a park ! Reliable
We’ve had enjoyable stays at Rydges Latimer Square on numerous occasions but this time felt disappointed in the condition of the room. The room had sparse amenities, and low quality, thin towels and pillows. The carpet had also noticeable stains. Of particular disappointment was the quality of the mattress - both my partner and I found it very uncomfortable and had poor sleep as a result.
The property is well located, within walking distance of the CBD, clean and spacious rooms and friendly staff.
Absolutely loved staying here, everything was very nice and relaxing!
I liked the bar area. As one of us couldn't walk far, we sat in a quiet corner and played cards. Neither of us liked the king size beds. They both sloped down at the sides.
Clean, comfortable, very helpful staff. Buffet breakfast was great too.
Excellent spot and clean comfortable hotel. Will definitely be back.
I injured myself at this property. There was a door stopper in front of the toilet and I kicked my toe on it. I had a room upgrade and was made felt like I should be grateful for that. One complimentary breakfast on a 3 night stay. The injury impacted my stay in Christchurch and the activities I was planning. I received email saying this has not happened to another guest before, once again making me feel like it was my fault there was a door stopper in front of the toilet.
Lovely stay on Latimer
Great. Loved the location and convenience. Had very good interaction with any of the staff. Short review as we only stayed one night.
Convenient and short walk to theatre
Excellent property! Staff are amazing and the location is perfect!
Great location and comfortable rooms.
I enjoyed my stay
Great room but concerning check in practices
A beautiful room but a bit inconsistent with service. I arrived at 2.05pm. Reception was unattended but there were dozens of suitcases scattered around the area. They were mostly in the confines of the desk area but it looked really untidy just sitting around everywhere, not to mention a potential security issue. When a man finally arrived he said I was too early, but he gave me a voucher for a free drink at the restaurant which was a lovely gesture. He also offered to store my bag while I waited out the hour and took my number to call when the room was ready. It got to 2.45 and I hadn’t heard anything. At 2.55 I went back to reception and noticed that my bag was not in a storage area as I had hoped, but sitting on its own AWAY from the desk area, near a wall on the way to the lifts. Quite concerning really. Photo attached, I couldn’t believe it was just sitting there. The staff were polite but confusing. I was asked if I was here to check in when I queried the status of my room, and the guest next to me got asked his room number when he was also checking in. Felt like maybe a bit of inattentiveness? She told me breakfast was until 10, corrected it to 10.30, but I’ve now been told this morning it’s 10. She gave me my key and when I asked about my bag sitting there, she went over with me to double check and said “oh yea this is your bag.” No apology or acknowledgment of the bag being left on its own. So a nice room that was let down by staff inconsistencies.
Spacious room and lovely to have a balcony
Quality accommodation that you would expect for the cost.
Very enjoyable stay. The breakfast buffet had a great selection.
Loved the property the staff were really nice, the rooms were great and the restaurant downstairs was amazing.
Everything was excellent except very noisy early in morning sounded like skips being emptied.
Great room and top notch service, my only complaint is that I couldn't find any cutlery (other than a single teaspoon) or plates to use in the room for the duration of our stay. It would be helpful to have some available for use in rooms.
Good location for what we needed
Great hotel
Great location
We stayed in a superior king room, which was clean and very spacious. The hotel is located close to shopping and resturants in the CBD. It was a very nice 5 minute stroll into the city. We would stay again.
We enjoyed our stay
Great place to stay with friendly staff. Had trouble charging my cellphone. I could have used a usb port in the room but there wasn't one. Other than that, it was great.
Good, quiet property at a fair price.
Close enough to everything but walkably far enough to be a peaceful stay.
Nice friendly staff, clean environment, quiet accomodation
We stay here a few times a year love the EV chargers, restaurant and bar facilities close to restaurants and bars in new regent st
Lovely staff. Extremely comfortable beds.
Just OK
It took three attempts to get a quiet room away from the lift and carpark - room was quiet. Bed quite hard and all the niceties missing - no toiletries like shower cap and no coffee machine in the room.
Very nice rooms with comfy beds. Prices at the restaurant were worth it.
Great location excellent facilities
Was perfect for us and close to town
The staff were very friendly and helpful, When I booked, one of the deciding factors were that there wasn't a parking fee, then 2-3 days out from our arrival I received an email to say that you are now going to charge me a parking fee. This was not appreciated.
It was nice and safe.
Modern comfortable hotel with good facilities
The Rydges is a tidy and modern hotel with very comfortable rooms and good restaurants and bars onsite. Parking is a bit of a lottery and given that it's not as centrally located as other hotels, most guests would have cars (as I did). I was asked to prebook and pay for parking which I did - but this does not guarantee a place. Also there was no record of my prepaid parking when I checked in.
Want to thank the night worker (big guy) that let us stay in the warm hotel at 3am in the morning instead of letting my wife and I sit outside in 4 degrees cold. He was kind enough to provide wifi password learning that we had made a booking but wasn't time for check-in yet Thanks. Hotel was awesome. And great service all round
Was Ok
Very good
Great stay
Rydges is one of our favourites. Great location for Christchurch CBD without being in a busy or loud area. Staff great. Note: car parking is now charged.
Excellent stay and good value.
Only disappointed that parking charges have been introduced.
Was clean and well presented Happy friendly staff
I waited a very long time for my room to be ready for check in.
Very close to shopping and restaurants. Clean rooms and nice beds.
When we checked in we weren’t told that the rooms we were given had accessible bathrooms which is not what we booked. So we had to go back to receptions and get allocated a new room. I was grateful to get one room upgraded but it would have been better if staff shared what they were allocating upfront. Changing rooms wasn’t convenient. If you want to be out at night, this hotel is located a bit further away from the riverside restaurants and we were told that it wasn’t safe to walk back at night.
Location was excellent. breakast was fabulous. Room was clean. Shower was very good.
All good, safe didn’t work, everything was nice
Nice stay!
Staff were great, food was fantastic as was the offering. Only let down by no bottled water in the room. Available at reception at a cost. G could have been bigger and better equipped. Would stay again! Location is perfect.
The quality and natural scent of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel are very good.
