Pleasant
It was very nice and great location
The pool ceiling goes from night sky with twinkling stars through to dawn - lovely. Well placed for Darling Harbour and a nice walk to Circular Quay
Was very happy with our room, was large, clean and comfortable. Close to Chinatown, Darling Harbor and city shopping. Would recommend.
nice and close to everything
Celebrating my wife’s 60th birthday
Wonderful stay, pleasant staff , very clean, quiet and suited our stay of 3 nights. Excellent spot for easy access to all of Sydney highlights, especially restaurants. Highly recommend.
Great property for a couple of days of retail therapy in Sydney. Convenient location to everything.
Easy access to amenities Hotel staff helpful and friendly Excellent service and room
Great stay
Had a great stay with the family. Room was very comfortable and spacious, in a perfect location.
Probably won't stay again....
Goods: Location is very good. Staff are nice and polite. Bads: Shower head kept falling off the wall whilst having a shower. The AC in the room was broken since checking in. We've asked the reception to fix it. They said they'd send someone to fix it, but they never did. It was so hot throughout the stay and we couldn't sleep much. One of the lists were under maintenance the entire time, and had to go up and down the stairs multiple times.
Second time I have been here
Good stay, second tiome been here, pls note I am in a superior room, so can only comment on that. Well located, my room quiet with modified "double glazing" noise seals. My room huge. Brekky incl for me which was very adequate (i don't eat much). Just be aware there is much confusion between Rydges World Square (been there for ages) and rydges Darling Harbour apartments (name change recently). The other one is on same Liverpool street 400 yards away. This hotel now has Rydges sign outside and the google pic finally changed, but taxis and limos still go to wrong one. minor annoyance. Bit of a slow-moving staff member would not believe anyone, that the night door was not working. It appears the staff release switch is hidden in some weirdo position as it takes ages to get her to open the damn thing, then she blames the customer for "doing it wrong". I may have finally convinced her, but really if she took the effort to roll out the front and check it, t'would be resolved quickly. I am guessing the door glass will be broken soon as other men were doing what I was doing . Rattling it harder and harder as noone appears , or ignores you ringing the bell.
It is central to where I need to be and the staff are lovely.
Parking is difficult.
Do not stay
Old, run down, the room was very dark. The place must be 100 years old, the carpet was dirty and definitely need to be replaced.
The distance to transport and city was manageable by the children and adults. There are some upgrades happening in the hotel - hopefully the pool and thr gym will see some upgrades too. The breakfast had a great selection of hot and cold food.
Excellent property in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. Walk to light rail and train. Close to QVB, Westfield and Chinatown. Best breakfast buffet and staff are pleasant, efficient and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
Good location, very nice hotel, spacious rooms and good facilities
Great Hotel
We stayed in the Superior Studio was very roomy and had a balcony that we used a bit. Nice modern decor. Hotel is so central to George St where the tram runs down to Circular Square & town hall where the train station is. Also 5 min walk to Darling harbour. Supermarket also couple of minutes walk up the road. We would definitely stay again..
Close to everything
Reception and staff all good and friendly. The accommodation was large but quite poorly stocked. Only one chair to use as a dining chair and this was an 'office chair'. The did when requested provide another chair. No cooking pots were in the accommodation. Requested a non slip shower mat - not available. This is definitely not the place to stay if you want to self cater. Very noisy from large extractor fans outside windows. Definitely disappointing.
Great location to darling quarter and darling harbour. Room great with plenty of space, clean room. Pool was dated and needs a clean up, messy and felt unclean. Breakfast simple abs enough.
The apartment was very dated, it was like housing commission met motel. The plumbing in both bathrooms has a problem, the smell was so bad we had to keep the doors closed as it seeped into the rest of the unit. Small inconveniences like no working power point in the ensuite, no room information to show there were dining options or check out times etc, no parking, all made this over priced stay extremely disappointing.
Fantastic stay. Great location. Ask to stay on the higher floors, away from the road noise.
Great location.
Property was in the perfect location for what we required access to. With the kitchen in our unit, we were able to make breakfast and coffee daily without the need to ventuee out ir use the buffet restaurant (saving us some $$$). However, a toaster would have been a perfect addition to the kettle. The pool and spa had great opening hours, a perfect way to start or end the day. However, it appeared that the pool area wasnt regularly cleaned (we stayed 4 nights and the same bloody tissues sat at the pool side for the duration of our stay), so a little off putting. Although one of the elevators was out of order (clearly sign posted), it just meant a few extra minute's waiting was required or access via the stairway. Staff were friendly and helpful, and stored our luggae away upon check out as we had a late night flight, allowing us to freely explore the city on our last day. Overall, a great place to stay, with comfortable beds and a clean room. Would not hesitate to stay again for future visits.
Bad smelle
Smell room bad smell
Good location and condition. Air conditioner in the room was either loud or off though (couldn’t adjust the fan speed) making sleep difficult as getting the temp right was hard.
Comfortable and Convenient
Great location close to ICC, Chinatown and Darling Harbour. Comfortable room and bed with small balcony. Looks newly renovated.
Great location, quiet, yet central to activities, transport shopping. Our room seemed to have poor room design with much waste space. More shelving for clothing storage in the bedroom would be suggested.
Perfect start to our vacation for our family of three. Great location, clean/large room, good breakfast, and enjoyed the pool
Needs better cleaning, hair and noodles in the kitchen sink, it smelt in the bathroom as they’re was no fan. The pool, spa and sauna was nice, but even that needed a good clean and had a bad smell. Traffic noise. A hair on one of the glass cups in the bathroom. Reception lady told us our room was ready, when we got there a worker was still cleaning the windows. The bed was comfy even the pillows, the breakfast was great and the area was clean. The staff in the breakfast area were nice. The $10 discount off breakfast for opted out of housekeeping was good. Luggage storage provided, 24 hour reception. Coffee, Coffee pods, range of teas and hot chocolate free in the room. The TV in the bedroom was good as well. Nice little balcony. In room safe.
The size of the two bedroom apartment was great! It was exactly what we needed with the kids
Great stay, would recommend for friends and family.
Great location, easy walk to Darling Harbour and George street for shopping and trams. Staff were friendly and happy to help were they could. Some of the amenities needed some upgrading, like the pool and gym, but still able to be used. We stayed in an older apartment, which was spacious and well equipped for a family of 4. We would stay again, but pay for an upgrade to a renovated room. Overall a good experience.
Large space. Close to transport and so central. Problem with microwave was fixed immediately. Very impressed with apartment and staff.
Found staff to be lovely, room was lovely & spacious, albeit a trifle dated but not enough to worry about.
The apartment was everything I needed. About 30 minutes to Circular Quay
This hotel is in a great location, easy walk to restaurants, grocery and transport. Our apartment was clean and comfortable. Reception sraff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful. Will definitely book this hotel in future.
Do NOT recommend
The most important part of any review is whether I would return and unfortunately I would not return to Rydges Darling Apartments. It was mediocre in terms of the property and very poor customer service. 1. Apartment hotel should have better kitchen and laundry facilities (this had no oven, no dishwasher, no washer or dryer). I looked in 10 drawers and cupboards (which were entirely empty) before finding a glass. It was poorly equipped. 2. Management are misleading...they run a system where you get a $10 daily credit for not getting your room serviced but the original flyer promise doesn't match the actual. It turned out it is only for use on food and beverage bill (didn't say restaurant or bar so I assumed any food or beverage) and when we tried to use it on a the mini-bar (which is food and beverage) they refused. On top of this, you're meant to be able to do 3 days running of the deal but on the third day they ignored the sign and came in and woke up my wife who was alone in the room. What was printed on the sign was different to what they actually do. Reception staff could not have cared less. 3. Reception lied to my wife. A friend of ours was meeting us to go to dinner and we asked for the restroom and was told there wasn't one and had to use our hotel room, yet there was one up the stairs by the bar. Management, employ frontline staff with a better customer service attitude and if you offer a deal, honour it fully. There are lots of better hotels in Sydney.
Great location. Walking distance to Darling Harbour and most Sydney CBD attractions. Staff are friendly and helpful. There are a lot of great food options around.
Conveniently located near station, dining and darling harbour. Felt it to be pricy
Love the indoor pool, spa and suna. The quality of the buffet breakfast was excellent.
Staff were exceptionally friendly. Property is definitely starting to show its age - rusted pool surrounds, tiles missing from pool edge, door handles that don’t work properly, etc), amazing location - walking distance to shopping, darling harbour and so many restaurants!
Excellent breakfast , beautiful and clean. Sauna was not warm enough and a bit run down, and the pool was a bit cold for an indoor pool. Otherwise a great stay.
Does not have Sandle slipers
No complaints
perfect position very clean comfortable bedding very friendly staff will definitely be back
Nice hotel, garbage payment system.
Checkin was a disaster. They charged me. My account was debited but because their system is archaic they claimed they had not received the money. 10 days later after multiple ph calls by me to my bank and the hotel the matter was finally sorted out. They said the issue was their system froze when they did the transaction and they knew it was an issue prior, they had said that they have had this issue at reception with a particular eftpos machine before. The hotel was ok but the service with regard to paying was 1980's. I should have paid cash. I have travelled the world over a 10 year period and never had such an issue. Will never stay there again. The accounts people bordered on rude and I had been advised by reception at the hotel that I would have to pay again and that the original debit would disappear from my bank account after 7 days but according to my bank it takes 30 days. So I would have been out of pocket $2000 for a month. No compensation was offered for an issue that was not me or my bank but the hotel. Simply not good enough.
Great location and great room - nice pool!
Do not book a 2 bed apartment unless you want to be in a dark hole with a view of a brick wall and the back of buildings. The room also smelt weird/bad. The carpet was rippled and ripped. The cleaners threw out our bag of unopened groceries and then we were quizzed by staff and basically accused of lying - they did offer a breakfast but the inconvenience of having to walk back to the shops and having none of the specific foods one of our children would eat was a big inconvenience. The cleaners also did not clean the bathroom the first clean, meaning we had to have them come again the day after, meaning we could not take advantage of the dining room credit by forfeiting a clean. The pool area had a wafting sewerage aroma! Expensive for what it is…room types and what you get should be better advertised…would never stay here again
Clean but dated
In the Chinatown part of town so it’s very busy outside. However it is close to the town hall station. Room is dated especially the carpet. Small things such as only one light beside the bed and no switches for the main light near the bed. Overall very clean
Great location so close to ICC
Great venue if going to an event at the Convention Centre.
We found it a good base for exploring Sydney. Mainly choose it for the two bedroom apartment option. Lots of space and two bathrooms. Was clean but the apartment is starting to show its age. A good & reasonably (for Sydney) priced option.
I found the room was a good size for a hotel and the little kitchenette was a bonus. I liked having the balcony too. It was good to go outside and sit and have a drink.
Great location and walkable to Darling Harbour, shopping and many tourists attractions. We did not use the swimming pool, but it looks ok. The room (superior queen queen studio) is clean and well maintained. The kitchen works great for us. It would be perfect if self serve laundry machines are available.
Great staff
Great location for where I needed to go to the ICC theatre. Staff were nice and accommodating. Rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. Was a little disappointed , lots of rust in the pool area. Had trouble connecting to the chromecast even after following instructions provided.
👍
Back Again
Rydges Darling Square is conveniently located to public transport, Chinatown, Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay. It was a very comfortable hotel that offered a spacious room, comfortable bed and very good facilities. The staff were very quick to respond to requests we made of them. This is our second stay at the hotel and we would highly recommend it staying in Sydney.
The apartment felt depressing.
Efficient friendly service
Honestly lovely
The staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to keep our luggage there for the day while we went off exploring before catching a late flight home. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Walking distance to everything we wanted to do.
Customer Service was excellent. Room and cleanliness was great. Great proximity to City shopping and transport. Buffet breakfast was the only let down even though reasonably priced.
We stayed 2 nights at this hotel for our 20th anniversary it was good for us and the kids. The staffs were great very helpful they organised a baby cot for our little boy which was very helpful. Very close to shops and restaurants, we were able to walk to darling harbour Overall we were very happy with our stay.
Clean and neat, great service at reception.
No complaints about our stay. They only minor problem I wished the pool was a bit warmer to be able to swim in it and the spa abit cooler
Clean and tidy, super comfortable bed
I enjoyed our stay, friendly staff, good facilities and comfy beds. I wish it more obvious upon booking that there is no parking. Was not expecting to pay an additional $45 for parking off-site and walking with our luggage. There were some minor cleaning issues… hair in bathroom, kitchen dusty but otherwise good. Ducted air con didn’t seem to work well and even on lowest setting room still quite hot. Otherwise I enjoyed our stay!
Great location, close to Chinatown, Darling Harbour and George St. Lots of dining options close by. The Standard Apartment we stayed in was getting a bit dated, although clean and serviceable (Rm 606). However the air conditioner filter was caked in dust and didn't look like it has been cleaned in a while. This was rectified once we advised reception. The air conditioner itself didn't seem to cool the room down too. We made use of the swimming pool and spa, which were nice to have. I'd recommend the property, but perhaps a renovated Superior Apartment, if the budget allows
Great stay and convenient location
The hotel is central and convenient to everything i needed. Staff were lovely. Room was immaculate. I do wish hotels provided a jug of drinking water. I noticed most Sydney hotels dont do this however.
The staff were really lovely.
Loved how attentive, accommodating and friendly all the staff were. Any issues I had were promptly resolved with no fuss at all. Wonderfully priced for such a centralised area with all attractions and amenities in close walking distance and public transport easy for an out of stater like myself to navigate.
Very tired and in need of refurbishment.
Was a high level floor out f the way, quiet and very roomy
We loved the location, size of the room & pool/spa
We had an excellent stay. The room was great and the location was fine. Close to lots of eating spots and shopping. The only disappointment was the pool. It was cold and very outdated.
Easy access to local restaurant, train nearby and safe.
Great location. Spacious apartment! Friendly and helpful staff. Would stay there again!
Great location, staff helpful.
Location is convenient, it was a shame that the spa and sauna weren't working.
Well-equipped and spacious, in the heart of Sydney right near where I needed to be at Darling Harbour for a conference
Stayed in 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment. Comfortable beds. Very spacious. Just disappointed the spa was out of order. Indoor pool was nice but a couple degrees warmer would have been good.
Convenient and easy.
When arrived at property check in went well, got to our room which was small, smelly and dirty, with a view of a run down old building and rubbish yard. Went back to reception and said I booked a balcony suite and it took 1 hr to have correct room. Bedding was so uncomfortable and horrible. Blanket was simply a flat sheet and doona insert and another flat sheet on top. Pillows were like a bag of torn up materials. Location ok. Balcony suite eh better than the original room. Pool was meant to be heated to 28 degrees how ever felt maybe 18. Spa felt 120 degrees. Staff were nice and helpful. Room/facilities/Hotel 5/10.
The hotel was in walking distance from everything we wished to visit, Darling Harbour, the Fish Markets, the Pumphouse, The Chinese Gardens, China Town, The Capitol Theatre. The light rail was close by as was the Museum Station as we flew to Sydney.
Great stay. Appreciated the early check in to allow me to drop my bags to go explore.
Located close to China town and easy to get to light rail to get round the city; can’t beat the location of the hotel. However, lack of soundproofing means you can hear the traffic and people in the street outside and even the birds in the early hours; not so great for sleeping. When we checked in we weren’t told anything about the hotel amenities so we didn’t eat there or use the pool.
Staff were friendly and room was clean
The room is clean, spacious, modern and the staff are friendly, accommodating and very professional. Awesome experience and will stay there again!!!
Very close to everything
Great central location
Very close to light rail and Darling Harbour staff very helpful
High quality for reasonable price
First I need to say I was in an executive superior apartment (not much more), and review based on that. The apartment was great, spacious , clean , modern, serviced. The main room on Liverpool side does get some traffic noise, but the bedroom has a second glass pane added, thus being a quasi-double-insulated room. I had a balcony. The location is very convenient, all trains and the new trams etc are 5 mins walk. plenty places nearby for takeaway, or a Coles in basement at world square 5 mins walk. Easy to use lobby (meeting people etc as lifts all secured these days). Well worth the money.
Booked a 1 bedroom, asked if there was a sofa bed over the phone. No sofa bed, wanted me to pay $80 for a rollaway bed or have my 10 year old sleep on a love seat! They ended up proving the roll away bed free of charge but very misleading. I would not have booked the room if I knew there was no sofa bed.
Staff were lovely. Rooms were great, had all amenities. Only downfall was nowhere to stop out the front to drop off luggage, although there is a 5 minute drop-off down around the corner, and the hotel provides cheap parking in a nearby carpark.
Loved the rooms, best shower we have had in any hotel Just a pity there is no where to pull up and unload your luggage.
small footprint and near darling harbour
A location very close to Darling Harbour. You can walk easily into the centre of Sydney or there are very good transport links around. The breakfast was very nice and we had a good nights sleep. I had read a few reviews of it being a noisy location but we didn’t find this. Swimming pool is in need of modernisation but all very clean.
Loved how close our accommodation was to the key sites of the Sydney, easy walking distance to most areas.!

Very convenient to Chinatown and Thaitown and everywhere around the Sydney.
