The food and the drinks need improvement.

Loved it

We enjoyed our stay. The staff was very attentive and everything started at the stated times. The fruit punch is very good. When I asked for an extra pillow it was there in 30 minutes. The RIU party was fun with neon colors and balloons

I loved everything about the RIU except for the bed. It was not the comfiest which was surprising to me.

The cleaning staff should come earlier than 3pm-4pm in the day. Great to have more than 2 pillows on the bed. The Italian restaurant was not good and the reservation process should be adjusted to allow for earlier reservations than day 3 of your trip. Gift shop should provide smaller sizes to allow for travel packing. Need another restaurant option. The buffet is EXCELLENT. The activities are great but the DJ/MC needs more work to enjoy the music but I Love the Dancers and performances. I WILL BE BACK AGAIN!!

All of the transportation felt like you were being extorted . You’re charged $40 just to go around the corner. The food was bad and they had a lot of limitations to what you could or couldn’t wear to dine, yet you would always see people dressed more revealing and staff say nothing. The entertainment was boring and didn’t feel like a party resort at all . The walls were dirty and our room leaked water every time it rained. I will likely not go back to Jamaica because of this experience.

Beautiful resort! Delicious food and amazing staff. The entertainment was fantastic.

I stayed for about 4 days and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff are hospitable and friendly. The only issue we had was making reservations for dinner. Please make your reservations in advance as most restaurants are booked two days out.

I had such an amazing experience at this resort everything was a 10/10 from the staff to the room i would definitely come back!!

RIU knows how to run a hotel. Great place for a short stay. The property was clean, and the staff friendly. The food was good, but could have been better. Would have appreciated more local foods, but maybe that's not what the masses want. My only knock, is that the views aren't great. Most rooms look right into another building, and the ocean view rooms, look at another hotel. So good, not great.

The only thing I didn't like about the property was the beach area. There were so many pedlers trying to sell their items and hollering at the tourists. It was annoying and everytime I wanted to sit on the beach I had to deal with being heckled.

Everything was great! Need more elevators and ice machines!

My room was dirty. No hand soap, floor was dirty, pubic hair on the toilet. Second room, hand s bad stitch, and there was sand on the floor. I will never stay at this resort ever again.

Great time

We were very disappointed with our stay. Mainly due to how run down the porperty was. The safe in our room was brokwn, the power and water went out one day. The drinks were not good, the staff were either very pleasant or very unpleasant. The best part of our stay was the entertainment crew, but overall this stay was not enjoyable.

The best resort I stayed at so far. It was clean my room so beautiful. And the entertainment at the resort was beyond amazing. I enjoyed every moment there.

i loved my trip and everything about Hotel Riu but i did not get what i booked i booked double bed garden view which i did not receive i had a single room no garden view i feel i should get half of my funds back bc i didn’t get whaat i paid for !

I truly enjoyed everything about the resort and had a lot of different food options as well as being all inclusive in a party scene. It was really nice.

I didn’t like how it was all inclusive yet they didn’t have no availability for nun of the restaurant when I got there plus after 10 pm to can’t find nothing to eat but hot dogs

My father and i got sick from the on resort food. We ate only resort food while at riu montego bay. From the first meal we started getting sick immediately. I had antibiotics and electrolytes, my father had the same electrolytes and a vaccine for travellers sickness. No matter what we did, we kept vomiting/diarrhea, even in the public hall mext to kulinarium as such, we cut our vacation short one week and paid an extra 500$ on a flight. Riu magically keeps 4000$ of our money and denies any wrongdoing, saying they have inspectors who came the same week. I imagine it would have been better to just end up in the hospital in jamaica with my cancerous father accordong to the management. hotel are robbing people blind and making them sick. I do not recommend riu hotels.ever, they are clearly not a company who cares about their visitors and they ruined my fathers obly vacation of his life, dude has terminal cancer and ya'll pocket his money like thieves. The staff is good but they clearly want more money. I got harassed with sob stories... guess riu doesnt pay them fair wages for a resort town like montego bay. They say they have a doctor on sight but they only have a nurse. If you break your leg at the resort? 75$ a day rental fee. This resort is only all inclusive in things that make you poop and puke. Rest you pay hard. Also expedia was not helpful, we should get a refubd for the days missed, we are seeking legal counsel.

It's a good resort, with variety of entertainment. There are couple companies offering excursions at the lobby, but there is not many things to do at close distance. A la carte restaurants have few options to choose (4-5),not much different from buffet. Buffet restaurant does not change much the options as well. Customer Service level is really poor. Front desk are the worst, not friendly and not willing to support. Bartenders and waitress for buffet saving the day. They are great, but it's still. It does not worth the money. You can get way better service for the same price. I wouldn't recommend this resort.

Great staff

The only negative I have to say about this property is the beach area. The sand in the water is slimy and grassy.

Loved our stay

Resort is nice. Only one of the female staff members is extremely rude. A couple we met said they would never return to the resort due to her rude antics. The food was good.

When I started not feeling good, I asked if food can be picked up by someone I knew and deliver, they said no. If someone is not feeling good why would you want them to go in public setting get food and expose other people to possibly not feeling good as well.

The resort had excellent rooms some of the best I’ve stayed in actually. The food was excellent the buffet is like the main dinner option most nights which kinda sucks but also the buffet is really expansive. The bar had great drinks and the entertainment was top notch. My only big gripe and making it a 4 instead of the 5 is the staff working the bar and restaurants. They all seemed very angry no one smiled while serving at the bar. It was like you were dealing with a machine I get that you have a job to do I was a bartender and server for years no matter what the base line is to at least smile at your guests.

The Staff members were incredible. The resort activities and shows also stood out for me.

This hotel is so much fun, lots of activities and the staff is super friendly, it’s easy to make friends from the atmosphere they cultivate. The food was good for resort food, I liked that they had Jamaican food every day in addition to regular American-ish styled foods. The only complaint is that for all inclusive they don’t give you toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap, slippers. You get a robe, towel and body wash/shampoo. So be sure to bring your own or you’ll have to purchase from the gift shop, and it’s not cheap. Overall this hotel is more of a 4.5 than a 4 but I wasn’t able to choose that. I would def be back again. I had a blast on my solo trip.

I think that the seaweed in the water at the beaches should be cleaned out and more sand added.

Everything is perfect there

I loved my first trip to Jamaica at RIU Montego Bay. It was so lovely. The resort is very well kept, the food is good, variety of food options, the beach was kept clean. The beach and ocean view is absolutely beautiful. The staff were all kind. Even the Jamaican men selling on the beach from their canoes were kind and gave the resort an authentic Jamaica feel. Staff are present throughout the resort so felt safe. The ocean front room was perfect, clean, the view from the room perfect. Even with the music, shows, and partiers it was still peaceful and plenty of spots a long the beach to steal away from the crowds. Definitely lives up to the home away from home title.

Place is big & beautiful! Great food choices at all restaurants easy reservations to specialty restaurants Staff at front desk & bars need to be more friendly & upbeat though! They are the face of your business & they seem to hate their job! SMILE! Joke a bit!! Other than that we had No complaints!

Everything was great

This is like an outdoor property, no elevators, no waterpark as displayed in Expedia. The staff is so friendly/kind/outgoing. The entertainment wasnt for me, you can tell they put a lot of work into it but I almost fell asleep. Club is fun, but I think they reuse the same CD/mix so you hear the same songs over and over. The food wasnt great or mind blowing but its included. Drinks were fine, no hangovers lol. Pools are nice, lots of options. Beach is nice, lots of seaweed so that was gross but water felt good. If I came back to Jamaica would I stay at this resort again, no.

Great vacation

My room had bugs in there I asked for a higher up room when booking, we didn’t get a room Until the next day. I did not receive my bday banner. Some of the hostess was not friendly and the cleaning ladies were all mean.

We enjoyed our stay it was impeccable!! The hotel had enough room for all its occupants that it was never over crowded, 6 pools, all day and night activities, impeccable clean, food options and variety was amazing and all very good, the all adults made it extremely nice, it is 5 minute ride to and from the airport, shopping center across the street, water front hotel, I have it a 5 start review on all its areas. We will definitely stay again at any RIU resort for our vacations.

The food was our only disappointment. Often cold, depending on what you get but french toast should be at least warm. Should have more than one server at the jerk chicken station.

My only issue was booking reservations for the steak house & private dinners, when booking through third parties like Expedia you won’t have access to the app until you’ve arrived, therefore once u attempt to book reservations they are already full, but you can access the app immediately after booking if it’s directly with the resorts. I wasn’t able to book a private dinner on the beach for my birthday :(

I can honestly say this was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at and we stayed at a few. To start with the person only came in every three days to restock the fridge, even after I asked,. the ice are bucket had mold inside it and I can put a picture up if you would like. The only ice machine in the building didn’t work. The banging of doors and the noise at night was really very loud. It woke you up at least once or twice a night. It echoed. The food was terrible. You can tell it was going from one restaurant to another restaurant. Nothing new or original just all tasted the same. I drink rosé wine I could never get any. They had enough for you to have two glasses and then there was none the next day we run out of beer for two days in the main dining room, which is really strange because we did see beer coming into the hotel. It’s like they just wanted to barely provide you any services after you paid. The beach area is extremely small and when we want to walk a little bit further, the security guards actually told us that they would kick us out of our room and out of our hotel if we kept on walking. The pools were bad the swim up bar pool had hair and eyelashes and God knows else in there we didn’t get it!! We called it the cesspool. We did ask for it to be cleaned and they threw in a whole bunch of I don’t know what made it very cloudy but it was not cleaned. The entertainment staff are so young that all they wanted to do was twerk ! PLEASE DONT STAY THERE!!

My friend and I had wonderful time here. There is always friendly staff helping along the way. There is some sort of activities happening so you wouldn’t feel bored or you can lay down by the beach or pool area. Night time entertainment and you can book activities to do out the resort and make sure bring cash on hand. Food is excellent and food and drinks available all the time. Place to relax and enjoy. Must go place.

We love it, We got married there 15 years ago and every 5 years we go back. Did not disapoint..

We spent 5 days at Hotel RIU Montego Bay and it was a 5/5 across the board. To start off, it's less than 10 minutes from the airport. We arrived and were greeted by staff and offered a variety of complimentary drinks. There was no line to get checked-in (didn't do the online check-in), and it took less than 5 minutes to check in. We got our wristband, information about the stay, and were on our way to the rooms. The rooms are a little far (3-5 min walk) from the pool/grounds area, but this is great cause of the noise levels. The room was very clean, had a stocked fridge, and a large balcony. We changed into our swim trunks and got right to business! The layout of the property is so beautiful and well thought out - everything we needed was all within a 200 foot radius of each other. Food, the pool, entertainment, and the beach, was how we spent most of our days. The food was amazing! The breakfast buffet has everything you could think of, and there are great options for lunch and dinner. Entertainment here was truly the icing on the cake. We didn't even bother booking excursions outside the resort. Karaoke, the steel pan show, and acrobatics were world-class across the board. We were very, very, pleased with our experience, and will definitely be back in the future. I highly recommend you stay here for your next getaway to Jamaica!
