A Gem of a Place to Stay

This was an absolutely fantastic place to stay. What a gem! Sue Ellen could not have been more welcoming - even making a dinner reservation for us and updating the restaurant because we were running late. Rimu Lodge is delightful. The rooms are large, contemporary yet cosy, beautifully decorated and with lots of little touches such as a turn down service, exquisite bathroom products and fine quality chocolate treats to welcome you. The super king bed was extremely comfortable and my husband and I slept like tops! Our room opened out onto a gorgeous veranda where, weather permitting, you can stargaze at night and relax during the day. We arrived too late for the welcome happy hour drinks to meet our host and other guests, but this was another lovely touch. Breakfast was divine. High quality ingredients, fresh fruits and pastries plus beautifully cooked hot options. Both hubby and I had the French toast which was accompanied by a divine fruit compote. Totally delicious. Sue Ellen was really helpful in providing tips on what to see and do in the area and relating to our onward journey. Thank you Sue Ellen for being so kind and attentive. We really felt that it was important to you that we enjoyed our stay and we appreciate the effort you made on our behalves. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rimu Lodge. You won't be disappointed.

Most excellent choice!

This is a really first class operation. Only 4 rooms, each the same. Owner, Sue Ellen, did everything to make our stay special. She is friendly and full of suggestions and resources. She couldn’t have been more helpful. We enjoyed the cocktail hour out on the patio and a most delicious Full breakfast with lots of choices. Would definitely come again and highly recommend.

Wow, wow, wow! This is a great place to stay. Very comfortable, spacious and super welcoming. Breakfast is fantastic and there’s a nice happy hour. The rural area is quiet and beautiful. Walk to the pub up the road for dinner. Stop at the glow worm dell to see glow worms shine at night. The owner/host is a gem!

Absolutely beautiful property. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided plus more. Evening dinner drinks in the lounge room allows you to chat to fellow guests and a wonderful breakfast with various menu options cooked to order. Highly recommend this property.

Five star

The west coast of NZ is extremely rural and poor. Typically that means marginal lodging. Marginal amenities. Cheap motels. We were so pleasantly surprised to find the Rumi lodge the exact opposite. Wonderful accommodations and food. What a wonderful breakfast. Literally five star. Cecelia, the host, was wonderful . Warm and inviting and so full of helpful info. Two thumbs way up for Rumi lodge.

Private and quiet

This property was top shelf luxury and the innkeeper was so gracious. When we arrived she greeted us at the door, showed us around our room, started a fire in the fireplace. She gave us tourist sites like the glowworm dell 5 minutes.from the lodge, and printed us info on hikes for the next day. Breakfast was also delicious.

Beautiful lodge in lovely rural surroundings. Large spacious room and bathroom and great attention detail - lovely log fire, cosy lounge that made the stay extra special. Great breakfasts - Sue Ellen was a very attentive and helpful host - pointing out places to see, where to eat etc. Definitely recommend

Outstanding B&B!

Absolutely loved it here - was the best place we stayed on our trip by far! Beautiful location and every room had a gorgeous view. Very quiet (there are only 4 rooms) and charming! The owner was friendly, helpful with suggesting places to sight-see, and very thoughtful in providing every amenity. Breakfast was perfect. Great stay!

Can't say enough good things about Rimu Lodge. Friendly, host, cleaner than clean rooms, any amenity you would need! Rooms are quiet and comfortable, fabulous views. Can't say enough good things ... don't hesitate, book it!!!

Wonderful lodge, gorgeous location

Amazing location and beautiful lodge with large, lovely rooms. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Loved everything about our stay. We were there 2 days. Wish we could have stayed longer. This was the best b&b ever.

We felt right at home in this beautiful, intimate lodge! Our hostess was so accommodating and welcoming to us! We’ve been traveling for almost a month and loved this spot the best so far!

Fantastic!

Rimu Lodge was excellent, I would definitely recommend it. The property was clean, well maintained, well equipped and very comfortable. The location was quiet with excellent views from the rooms. The hostess was charming and very helpful.

The owner goes out of her way to provide a comfortable stay. The lodge is stunning as well as the view off the back. The breakfast is delicious and the host provides helpful guidance on sights, restaurants and the area.

An oasis of comfort

A unique lodge set in a very scenic & rugged part of NZ's west coast Wel opointed, comfortable with a helpful owner who treated us as special guests

The lodge location is fantastic overlooking the valley and river below. The quality of the decoration and furniture really impressive, in keeping with the property and high end. Excellent breakfast choice made to order. Only comment but not complaint would be addition of wall mirror in the bedroom.

What a Fabulous place

Sue-Ellen is a wonderful host and makes you so welcome. The Lodge is in a quiet location with fantastic views and a pub down the road you can walk to. The Lodge is spotless and we had the best breakfast of our New Zealand trip. The only downside was we did not stay longer. Thank you Sue-Ellen

Beautiful Lodge up in the trees. Fantastic views from the rooms across the Hokitika River. We were hosted impeccably by Sue-Ellen, she was super helpful and made our stay even better.

A perfect stay

This is a wonderful retreat from our travels. Everything was well thought out and catered to guests’ needs. Wish we could have stayed three nights. Bed linen lovely and turned down in the evening. Chocolate treats await. Magnificent view from our room. Living room inviting with free night caps. Wonderful setting to meet new friends! Breakfast was lovely! Hostess was welcoming and informative. Clearly a labor of love, good taste and passion.

Book at Stunning Rimu Lodge

Rimu Lodge was beautiful, conveniently located, clean and comfortable. Sue Ellen was a wealth of information. Breakfast was amazing. Our room was large, comfortable, and clean, as were all of the other common areas. The deck out back is simply stunning and a great place to gather at the end of the day. Do not hesitate to book your stay at Rimu Lodge. It is a great place!

Simply Excellent.

Everything about our stay was first class. From the moment we arrived we felt extremely welcome and enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The owner was a wonderful host. The bedroom room was lovely. The terrace was great to sit out on and breakfast was superb. This was the best place we have stayed at in three weeks touring New Zealand.

We were spoiled!

An outstanding host! We were spoiled every day. Amazing breakfast, extra ordinary host that really really cares. Kept on surprising us with chocolates on the bed, soft drinks that kept on showing, constantly cleaning our room and great personality. Great place to stay. Extremely welcoming. If looking for a place for dinner - I would pick the Indian in city center (5 min drive).

The hotel was had picturesque views. The host was extremely helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was very good. The location was excellent and the room was quaint.

Great view, comfortable lodge

Beautiful spot in Hokitika

We had a very nice mid week overnighter at Rimu lodge. Sue-Ellen was the best hostess. We were welcomed like old friends; felt like a home away from home. Breakfast was generous and beautifully presented as was everything else. Sky tv would have been a nice addition to the 5 star rating. We would love to revisit for a longer stay, especially to explore the lodges surroundings.

This was by far the best place we stayed in New Zealand!!!! The Lodge is simply gorgeous with much attention to detail!! Chocolates on the bed, fresh flowers, complementary beverages, and a gracious hostess!!!! The breakfast was gourmet and very tasty and filling!!! Loved every minute of our stay!!!

A stunning oasis

This is a beautiful secluded lodge well worth the experience.

Great peaceful location- warm friendly host

My husband and I stayed here while mountain biking the west coast wilderness Trail. It was the best place we stayed, true luxury. Exquisite is the only word.

It was a last minute change for us to stay here but what a fantastic experience! Slightly on the exy side but it's definitely worth it, they do make sure it is a premium product.

Paradise

Beautiful location with panoramic views and a wonderful sense of serenity. The rooms are beautifully appointed and cannot be faulted along with the guest open area and balconies. Missing only the ability for dinning at night, but wonderful local hotel down the road wit great food and a sense of welcome from the locals.

Peaceful

What a great find. Helen the owner made us feel very much at home ....and Disa the spaniel is gorgeous.
