6 night stay in Marrakech
Really enjoyed our stay at the Riad Sharma. Impressive building architecture and pleasant calm atmosphere, which is a welcoming contrast to the busy surrounding area. The staff were excellent. Most helpful with all aspects of the stay and very attentive.
Stay in an authentic Moroccan Mini Palace
Comfortable stay in RIAD SHAMA, Marrakech, Morocco. From outside, it was deceiving but once we enter into this complex, our notion/impression totally changed. We had experienced a real flavor of Morocco, by staying at this place. Service and hospitality was good. Although it wasn't a buffet style yet the breakfast was very good. I will tell tourists to go and stay at this hotel. Calm/quite and comfortable stay. Value for money.
This place was beautiful! Unfortunately we only stayed one night here to go to Tangier the next day. Staff was very helpful in providing information and services. Would definitely stay here again with more time.
Helpful staff and clean rooms
Friendly staff and clean rooms overall I pleasant stay and would recommend but a little tricky to find so ask for a airport transfer to make your life easier
Very Nice Place!
Staff was very nice and helpful. The room was clean and there was a heater for warmth, a big plus in January! Hammam experience was good too and right on site. Very neat place, would definitely recommend.
It was a great place to stay. The managers were all terrific: Magid, Issam and Mostaffa. They were very helpful and very friendly. My only complaint is that the wi-fi was VERY undependable. I had work to complete and it was very difficult.
Good location, can ask to the main square. When you arrive the taxis aren’t allowed to go directly to the door amd the road/area is very run down. Turn right through the arch and you leave the hustle and bustle behind as you walk in the door.
Stay was good in general; getting to the hotel was a little bit weird. We had to walk through the narrow and labyrinthine streets in the middle of the night. Be aware of people following you outside the hotel, they try to trick you. Also, Could be dangerous to walk around during Night hours. Breakfast was included but only some local pastry, local yogurts and coffee, no other option for eggs or Cereal. Bathroom was shabby.
Good experience all around. Really helpful and friendly staff.
Nice hotel close to the centre. Pleasant staff.
Very helpful staff. Hotel was nice Be aware of people following you and pestering you. Night hours is dangerous to walk around. When local see tourists they think of how to get money so can be tricky sometimes.
Everything about this Riad was fantastic
The staff were brilliant, very attentive. The Riad is very open plan with seating areas and sofas dotted around throughout, so for breakfast, you can just find yourself a comfortable spot in the Riad and the manager would bring you breakfast to wherever you were. The rooms were very comfortable, spacious, and whilst you have to keep your wits about you whilst you're in the streets of Marrakech, whilst in the Riad, we both felt incredibly safe at all times. Check in and check out was quick and easy. The Riad also has a nice rooftop which was quiet whilst we stayed, so we spend a lot of time up there chilling in the evening. The location of the Riad isn't perfect, it's a little out of the way from the Jemaa El-Fnaa, so it's important to have a map or memorise your route to the centre, the walk to the centre takes about 20 minutes. Overall I would 100% recommend this Riad, especially given the price, which we though was very reasonable compared to other Riad's we researched.
Most Horrendous Experience of Our Lives
My wife and I had the most horrendous experience of our lives thanks to Riad Shama. We made a booking at this riad in Dec 2017. The hotel is located in a terrible, convoluted and dangerous looking area. When we finally found the place, the manager could not find our booking. I showed him the confirmation email and he was confused so he called his boss. After a 5 min conversation in french he said that they did not have any booking under our names and that the riad was full for the night and asked us to leave. As you can imagine at 10pm where all the alleyways are dark and filled with shady characters we were not happy to hear this. We went back and forth for a while; he was getting aggressive and repeated the same few words adding that he did not speak English (even though he was speaking to us fine earlier). We asked to at least use the phone at the riad to call Hotels.com to help make alternative arrangements. But this deplorable person said no and continued to aggressively push us out the door. We left. A bunch of kids followed us and kept offering to show us other riads which we refused at first but finally agreed as we didn't have much choice at that point. There was a real chance we were going to get robbed, beat up or worse but thankfully that didn't happen. After 3 tries, the 4th riad agreed to take us in. We decided to give the kids 300Dh (30€) for helping us. They got angry and wanted more which I refused. Riad Shama had the gall to charge us for the night too!
This is great!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this place. It is very charming and the rooms are spacious and clean. TV didn't work for the kids but other than that it was great. Breakfast is basic but good!
Amazing staff with great customer service. Quiet. Centrally located in the middle of the Médina. Free breakfast was great. The excursion we booked was a lot of fun to the Atlas Mountains. Omar our guide was friendly.
Lovely atmosphere. Quiet & close to sirrounding.
Seems understaffed. Ordered dinner 2 nights, once dinner was served each evening the attendant never returned to offer beverage or desert. I asked prior to ordering services: massage and food, asked if I could use a credit card and when told yes. At check out was told no, until I said I had no money. This was true due bank card issues. My receipt from expedia stated taxes were included yet was charged by the front desk fees for said taxes. Perhaps If I spoke French the experience would be different. Not the morocan hospitality I've encountered elsewhere.
Beautiful Riad
Nothing was too much trouble for the delightful staff. Mustapha was so gracious and helpful and always pleasant as were Magic and Ismael. We had breakfast on the roof terrace each morning with views over the Medina, while planning our day, and help was always on hand to help with maps and directions to places of interest. Excellent advice was to go in a shop to ask directions if lost rather than ask someone in the street, (and getting lost can happen a lot) or you’ll spend a long time on detours to various cousins’ shops. This was terrific value for such a lovely Riad which allows you to soak up the atmosphere of Marrakech whilst providing an oasis of tranquillity and peace after a day in the exciting but chaotic Medina. It was so restoring after a day wandering the Square, sights and market to sit by the pool and enjoy the flowers and scent of essential oils from the spa( we didn’t get around to trying the spa although it looked very inviting). We ate dinner in the hotel a couple of evenings and were very happy with our meal. Only one tiny comment that isn’t quite so positive is that the bathroom basin, whilst in keeping with the aesthetics, had a rough surface that didn’t clean easily; also the white plastic loo seat which somehow didn’t seem in place, was loose. However the whole experience was wonderful and would definitely return to Riad Shama.
Authentic place to stay
Really enjoyed our time, staff were great, spa was lovely. Approx 20 minute walk to main square. Could do with some modernisation, bathroom was shabby, cushions round the pool and veranda are dated and marked, very minor things, don't let it put you off! Would recommend a visit.
Staff at the riad are friendly. But the room's condition is not very nice, some lights not working, so the room is dark. Far away from the central square, takes a long walk or much over-priced taxi to get there.
Revitalising
Excellent location, excellent riad, very good experience, will def go again
One to return to, just beautiful!
The Riad is a 10 minute walk from the action of the souks, 15-20 minute walk to the main square. We booked the airport transfer which i recommend, although we couldn't find the driver at the airport as he seemed to arrive a lot later and we were lucky we found him. The Riad is in a busy area where the locals tend to be which was nice to be in as it was very buzzy. Upon entering the Riad you feel like you are in another world,, shutting out all the buzz and noise from outside into a beautiful Riad. The communal areas were gorgeous, full of character and the roof terrace is great so there are plenty of hang out options in the Riad. We stayed in two rooms, one in the newer part of the building which was lovely (the name was Ghalia) and the second in the original building so a lot older but absolutely stunning and overlooking the balcony down to the pool. The man on reception in the first half of the day spoke great english and was very helpful. The other staff were very friendly but difficult to communicate with due to my bad broken french. My only concern was the lack of front desk cover in the morning between 7.30am and 9.30am as I was desperately trying to get information but no one was available to help. The Breakfast options consist of a variety of breads and yogurt so very limited, too much bread and not enough variety. But other than these few faults, I cannot wait to return to this Riad, I loved it and would recommend it to all.
Great hotel
Fantastic oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Friendly staff, great breakfast and comfortable rooms. The roof terrace is lovely
Great Riad :)
Lovely Riad, really friendly staff. The pool is really nice however only gets the sun in the middle of the day, so would need the warmer weather to use it. Nice rooms, great roof top to relax on in the sunshine! Nice intimate restaurant. Lovely breakfast!
Great riad choice
Really gorgeous decor, free breakfast was great, enjoyed hammam spa. Liked the junior suite better than 2 level one. Great staff
Relaxing Riad
We stayed at Riad Shama for 3 nights and had a brilliant time. The staff are all very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was a good size and had everything we needed, the only slight let down would be our bathroom where the shower decor/plumbing didn't seem 'finished'. So I would perhaps look to upgrade to a superior room if I was visiting again (would love to at some point). Nonetheless, I would highly recommend this Riad. It's a little out the way from the main, but actually I preferred this as its more away from the 'madness'. The food was excellent, we ate dinner there every evening and were thoroughly looked after. My husband and I had a Hammam and massage in the spa area too, which was brilliant and very relaxing. Best massage I've ever had! Everywhere was clean and tidy and looked after, the maids cleaned the room daily. My favourite part was the roof terrace where you could relax in the sunshine, plus the unlimited mint tea between 4-6pm was a lovely extra. Would love to go back!
Beautiful place to relax from the hectic city
Would absolutely advise anyone to stay at Riad Sharma and go to Marrakech at any time of the year. We have just been in August and despite the heat , found it an incredible and wonderful experience. People, food , street life, culture was all beyond expectation. Great to have an oasis to return to each day to cool down and Riad Sharma was perfect for this. Some great people work there and helped us to find interesting and diverse places to eat each night.
surpsing location, great hotel !!
great hotel in a surprising location, very clean and comfortable, there is a swiming pool and relaxing atmosphere complitly oposite to the city - I do recomemned the place for enyone
The music and small swimming pool were the best in Riad Shama. The feeling was relaxed after the hot and crowded city.
Very good Riad, near to the city centre in the medina, quiet
Nettes Personal, sehr gutes Frühstück. Eine ruhige Oase im Trubel der Großstadt.
Chambres spacieuses, tres propres.
Gewoon doen. Klein minpuntje: zwembad is niet verwarmd, dus koud...
Dejlig ryad i bedste marrokansk stil. MEGET sødt personale. Rart, rummeligt værelse. Utroligt flot badeværelse. God mad generelt.
Bien ubicado.
