Very beautiful riad with amazing views to the ocean. The restaurant was also quiet nice and not as expensive as one could imagine for such restaurant with views to the ocean.
Not far from fabulous.
A really nice riad with very good and helpful staff and a beautiful roof top restaurant. Very good food. The bathroom needed updating and the shower above the bath hit the window instead of the bath so was difficult to use (room 311) Breakfast was the same each morning which could be monotonous after 2. A wonderful location though and very nicely presented.
The View from King Suite was great.
Our room had a leaking ceiling, a few drops of water every minute and we were woken up at 6:30 by the kitchen upstairs, but got a new room the next day, staff very friedly. Honestly should add some option to get inside at night - had to knock on the window, but all good in general. The roof adds a lot to the experience, would choose the riad just because of that
Amazing place & staff. I warmly recommend
Great place to stay beautiful views of the sea
Great view, great stay
Amazing staff on front desk, great hot water and quick to warm up, and amazing views. It was a little windy with breeze coming through at times but we were there during a really windy period. The staff are hilarious and the food is top notch (esp dinner).
Loved everything about Essaouira
Perfect location inside the medina, and right on the water. From our room we could see the sunset, we had a wonderful stay. The only things I would add are a luggage bench and one of those retractable lines to hang clothes on that sometimes are located along above the bathtub.
Views are stunning! Situated in the Medina of essaouria it is the perfect location
Beautifully decorated. Great views from restaurant and terrace. Very good restaurant. Very generous breakfast that was included. Make sure you ask for sea view room for a great view of the beach and the Atlantic ocean
This Riad was right next to the sea. The views were fabulous from the sun deck. There was also a great indoor sun lounge if too chilly outside. Both were next to the restaurant which also had excellent views and the food was also good. The room was comfortable, clean and had windows which was a welcome bonus. Staff were friendly and helpful. Essaouira was much more pleasant and cleaner than Marrakech. The woodworking area definitely worth a visit. It has a great beach although the sea was rather cold! Good selection of restaurants.
Rriad mimouna is the best riads in Essaouira
Unbelievable beautiful view from the room facing the ocean. Food was very good too. Only negative is that they publish having airconditioning in the rooms well they do not, not nice. But with the ocean air was good enough.
Amazing place! Everything is high end! Beautiful view and traditional National style! Gorgeous restaurant, friendly people! Thank you for hospitality and charm !
Nice stay, extraordinary views, convenient location, and well appointed rooms. Regretfully a poor and disappointing management service with misleading practices on room rate and reservations. Disappointing in the end, will not come back, too bad.
The fact that it was right by the ocean
We arrived and we were given a room that was different from the one we paid for. The room we were offered was half of the price of what we paid. The property staff including the manager told us that that is what they received from the agency that represent Expedia and they showed us the document they received from Travel Councilling group. The problem we had is the property did not offer any help to solve the issue, they asked me to go call Expedia to figured it out. That was a poor service to client. I spent one hour with Expedia Agent over the phone and at the end I accepted to pay extra money to get the room I wanted. This was a poor experience . Expedia must revise its agreement with its intermediary in Morocco as even Expedia staff could not reach neither the agency nor the property management.
the staff r 100 throom is 100% the view ammazing breakfest was execelent the best place tostay
The views from inside the room were spectacular. The beach and ocean waves are right under your window. However, in order to walk/swim in it, you have to walk 30 minutes around the town to get to it. The beach has some trash floating around it. The TV channels are great when you need a break from all the vendors of the medenia. Breakfast was great but i believe the hard boiled egg made me sick... thats how i know the TV selection was great. Room service was fast but the spaghetti bolenese is not the chefs strong suit. Overall, i would stay here again. I would bring a dive mask and stay away from the eggs.
This hotel is wonderful! In a great area, the building is really cool and the views are absolutely amazing!
Great place and location
Great place and location. Ocean view room are all great, but especially those with huge windows.
Very attentive staff. Clean room. Very nice dining room and terrace area. Wi-Fi a bit patchy.
Property was beautiful with hand crafted walls. Staff was helpful and easy access to surrounding areas.
I liked the lounge area on the roof
Searching for an amazingly beautiful and reasonable hotel or Road in Essaouira? Get a room with an OCEAN VIEW at Riad Mimouna and STOP your search. You, and your partner or family will be UNBELIEVABLY happy with the magical option you chose. I will stay at Riad Mimouna EVERY time I visit Essaouira, and will even skip the craziness of Marrakech to spend more days there. Feel free to ask any questions.
It's in a good location, albeit strange to get to at night.
Bedroom views were outstanding
Front desk staff were superb and couldn’t help enough - friendly, helpful by booking Taxi’s and v attentive. They were excellent. Room service was also good. The staff serving in the restaurant / rooftop bar were slow, inattentive and on one occasion we were waiting 30 minutes for a round of drinks, and had to chase them twice. This was regular over 3 nights.
Really nothing.
Great ocean view from the room.
Nice view
Good spot
Good Stay, location isn’t the best
It was noisy and dirty. Staff were very friendly.
Great Views / Mediocre Rooms
The best thing about this riad is the location. It has amazing views of the ocean and is right on the water. Definitely pay the extra few dollars for a seaside room. While the staff was nice we didn’t find them to be overly welcoming as we had become accustomed to during our other riad stays. The dining room for breakfast was wonderful and had sweeping views of the ocean. The only major inconvenience was there was no hot water during our stay.
The place is beautiful. Cannot recommend the sea side rooms enough. One is right on the Ocean. The architecture is superb. Breakfast was lovely. The staff were very helpful and efficient. Cannot rave about it enough.
Very helpful, kind staff. Spectacular views from restaurant and rooftop terrace. We had a ocean view "mini-suite". That made it a special treat to have the view, and crashing waves right out of the window. The rooms have limited outlets, and lighting, but that is not a major inconvenience.
Fantastic Riad in a great location in the Medina
We had a wonderful stay at the Riad Mimouna and would stay there again- the room was comfortable with an amazing sea view. All of the staff were welcoming, friendly and so helpful. It is also in a great location in the Medina.
The view from our window was stunningly beautiful! Our room was lovely. The property was well maintained. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The staff was very courteous.
Excellent location for exploring the old town. Beautiful sea views from some rooms and the rooftop terrace. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Staff were friendly and helpful. Within walking distance to all sites within the Medina. Restaurants nearby.
The views from this property were stunning. Being able to watch the ocean so up close was a treat, and the hotel's location was amazing. A very comfortable and memorable stay.
The room was great and really comfortable. Service on the roof top terrace was great. Views of the ocean and over the medina were fantastic.
The best part was the view. The room smelled very musty/moldy. It was quite cold, and felt like sleeping in an ancient stone castle/dungeon. The electrical plugs were not available to charge phones unless the lighting was unplugged. The rooms need rugs or things of that nature to warm it up and make it cozy. The bathroom walls and window needed painting and repair. The room had a layer of dust including the remote for the tv that didn’t work. The water barely got warm. The breakfast was rather cheap and certainly not buffet style as many places in Morocco that we have visited are. The lobby was nice as were the staff who did all they could to resolve some of these concerns. I wouldn’t ever stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Most spectacular Dar stay in Morocco !
This hotel is in the most romantic spot of Essaouira possible. Our room looks onto Atlantic waves washing the shoreline right below our window. Simply beautiful! The breakfast is also good.
Service OK! Riad likes a hotel but an incredible view on the terrasse! We recommended.
When booking the hotel I chose to pay a bit extra for a room with a sea view and it was definitely worth it! The staff were lovely, and eating breakfast on the roof overlooking the waves crashing into the rocks was beautiful. We also found it funny that there is no breakfast menu, they just bring you everything: pastries, yogurts, cakes, pancakes, bread, eggs (boiled, not dippy like you'd expect in an egg cup ;)), which was fun!
Wonderful restaurant upstairs with gorgeous views. Good breakfast.
We liked everything about the riad it was the best one we have stayed at.An excellent location overlooking the ocean and an excellent example of Moroccan architecture.
Not in any way a 4 star hotel and had a very strange feeling to it -On arrival they did not have our reservation and claimed Expedia did not send it to them (even though I had the confirmation on my phone) -The room was dark and run down and dusty (there were cobwebs in one corner of the room), there were two random drinking glasses in separate parts of the room and nothing else in terms of amenities and no information in the room on Essouria, it felt almost like a storage room for furniture. -Musty smelling and quite creepy feeling (if you are into movies like Suspiria this aspect may be a bonus) -Mediocre breakfast -The hotel would provide a kettle or hot water in the evening and had no bottled water in the room/charged us for bottled water. +Cool view of the ocean if you get a sea view room +Bedding was clean
This property has a great location overlooking the ocean. The rooms are spacious and so are the lobby areas. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
Excellent
Excellent riad exactly where you want to be in the old city. Can easily walk to everything. The place itself is very nice with good rooms and enjoyable breakfast on the rooftop dining area. Highly recommended overall.
Great hotel and with stunning views it keep the kids busy looking at the sea. Very good spot in the town to walk wherever we wanted. We loved this place and would happily take our friends and family next time. if you book this hotel please book the sea view room wow....
Ocean view
The riad has a great location just next to the fort walls and it has a spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean. The only downside is that the interior is a bit worn down.
So close to the water it was beautifully calming
Our room was on the ocean/city wall. we loved bing in bed and feeling like you were on a stationary ship. The Riad was really lovely and the staff helped where ever possible.
A real find by the sea in the medina. Best of both
Lovely older hotel built right into the city walls by the sea. Large room with good wifi. Nice amenities. Very good breakfast served on enclosed roof top terrace with great views. Friendly staff. If you are driving, the parking is a good 15 minute walk through the medina, but there are.men with pull carts that will take you and your luggage for around 5 euros.
A gem of a hotel
The view from the hotel dining room, and many of the rooms will take your breath away. You can see the sea crashing against the city walls, Essaouira is very windy so the seascapes are are wild and beautiful. Hotel is very Moroccan in character. Staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel is a real find.
Beautiful Riad in the médina of Essaouira
Decor and furniture in the purest Moroccan style. Staff is extremely helpful and nice. Excellent breakfasts but average meal quality for lunches and dinners (tagines 👍, couscous 👎). Internet connexion is irregular.
Quiet hotel close to everything
The hotel has beautiful views, rooms, and breakfast. I would have paid more.
Good Hotel, directly at the sea
Recommended for honeymooners and sea lovers, you can see the sea waves 3 meters from your window
It doesn't get much better than this!
Fabulous Riad in a perfect location with magnificent views out over the sea. Hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, excellent room.................can't wait to come back next year :-)
Lovely stay, room above the ocean !
Lovely riad, fantastic location with superb ocean views. Rooms spacious, traditional and clean.
Incredible View
The hotel is deep in the medina next to the sea. We hired a guy to carry our lugguage in a cart. This was essential because we would have had problems finding the hotel without him.The hotel was exactly what we were expecting but the view from the 4th floor terrace was amazing. We spend hours watching the sea come and go amongst the rocks. We quickly found our way around the town. The hotel resaurant was fine but so were the ones we found in town. A relaxing break.
Charming hotel with beautiful sea view
The suite was lovely with a beautiful sea view. I enjoyed my stay here thoroughly.
Sea views from a traditional riad
The wind was especially cold for our first two days and showed up the draughts in the room however heavy curtains coped with it at the expense of the view. The staff were helpful and the breakfast filling
really friendly, good spot once you get used to the network of alleyways
Fantastic location, overlooking the Atlantic, with
Fantastic location, overlooking the Atlantic, with breathtaking views.
great location on the waterfront.
We were welcomed warmly and it was a treat to hear the ocean against the wall of the hotel.
Could be beautiful!
I stayed two nights here in June. The Riad is quite big, very ornate. The staff were pretty disinterested. The rooms were very dark. It is on the edge of the medina and has great views of the coastline but you also have to travel some dark alleyways to get there (I was traveling alone). I had to ask for less stained pillowcases. The breakfast to quite average. I had to ask (twice) for more toilet paper. The reception staff had no maps of the medina so I had to suggest she print me one. All in all I was quite disappointed :(
Wonderful!
A wonderful hotel, perfect location, in an incredibly beautiful town. would recommend to anyone!
Central Riad close to souks & sea.
A lovely Riad, tucked away down one of the winding alleyways of the medina. The rooms are spread over five floors. Our room had a great sea view, good decor,tv, safe & comfortable bed. The bathroom let it down, needed a bit of maintenance; broken towel rail & bin. The shower flooded the bathroom floor within minutes of being turned on, as there was no lip on the showerbase. Breakfast is served on the top floor of the riad so you can enjoy the panoramic views of the sea while you eat. Its a set menu of boiled egg, bread rolls, pain au chocolat, mini cheese, yoghurt, cake & pancakes with jam or honey. Tea/coffee, fresh orange juice and bottle of water. Very filling. There is free wifi, but you can only access the sigmal near the reception desk on the ground floor.
Potential but some short-comings
The biggest problem with Riad Mimouna was getting there. They do now provide any instructions and we had come straight from driving from the airport in Casablanca. Telling the guests what gate to park their car at would have made a huge difference with this process. It is in the Medina so no cars allowed, which would have been fine if the hotel had provided any instruction about how to get to their hotel. We eventually figured it out through hiring porters that line the medina. When we arrived the hotel welcomed us with an upgrade to a room that had a beautiful view of the ocean. The view was spectacular. The comforts of the room fell somewhat short after that. The bathroom was less than clean and the bed sheets had that ocean mustiness and humidity. Some of this may just be a reality of where the riad was located but was uncomfortable nonetheless. Overall, this hotel has tons of potential but just needs a little TLC.
Great location on the water
Friendly staff, great roof top terrace with a magnificent ocean view...!
There is no room-service, no pool table, and the bathroom flooded. The Restaurant was closed by 9pm. The surrounding neighborhood at night was very scary. My window did not close, there was rust on the window. The only thing I enjoyed about this hotel was the proximity to the beach and the breakfast. this hotel should really be considered a 2 star motel and they should change their amenities list, considering that they have none. Dirty, unsafe, cold, boring. Worst experience ever, we left as soon as we could.
Good Hotel - bad area (Medina)
This is a good hotel, with beautiful Moroccan art decoration. There is a fantastic terrasse on top where you will enjoy a good breakfast. My only real issue was related with the location of this hotel, as it is in the center of the Medina and it is impossible to reach by taxi. Taxi will leave you outside the Medina and after it is up to you to reach your destination. I felt very unconfortable walking the Medina at night. Watch out!
this place is a hidden gem. our room overlooked the rocky coastline with distant view of the working harbor. sounds of waves lapping, serene, and quiet. I recommend this to anyone!!
Riad Mimouna - best riad throughout Morocco
This riad was the best one we stayed out at, out of 9 cities we traveled throughout the country! The staff is so wonderful, the rooms are gorgeous, with amazing views of the cliff waters. The breakfast was the best - with terrace view, large spread of different items catered to individual needs, & the personal wait staff. We love Essouria as a whole - it has it all & the Riad Mimouna was beyond expectations!!! Can't wait to come back & stay at the riad, again!
Breath taking views!
This has to be hands down the best hotel in the medina... The staff was delightful, young woman at desk was sooooo nice...the room clean, beds amazing and the view by far awesome... We only speak English and they were of great help. 10000% my favorite place on our trip to morocco
lovely view of the crashing waves
We stayed for four nights at Mimounia at the start of our trip. It is located in a quiet part of the medina but only a few minutes walk from the main sea front square. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, breakfast hearty and served until midday, and with paying for the sea view rooms with views over the Atlantic and crashing waves. A touch noisy at first but the sea air meant we slept fitfully and awesome to lovely sea breezes
Best views in town
From the welcoming mint tea to the delicious breakfast on the roof-top terrace overlooking the ocean, this riad was a real treat. Both my husband and my room, and my kids across the hall had amazing ocean views, with dramatic, crashing waves. One of the exotic sites of Morocco.
Phenomenal Riad
Everything about this Riad-- from the service, view form the room and the food were simply phenomenal!
Great Place
We had a corner room right above the area where Waves from Atlantic Ocean were breaking. Room was a little cold. They provided a portable heater, but we had to unplug the lamp to connect the heater. More outlets would definetly help.
Great place to stay within the city walls
I really loved staying here. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. I just wish the showers were a different style as water got everywhere when I showered. The view of the ocean was amazing from my room!
family
Amazing. Everything from the staff to the location to the food to the decor. I was travelling alone and fell ill with some very violent food poisoning. The staff went above and beyond to look after me...bringing me tea, monitoring me regularly and ascertaining whether i needed medical help. They also gave me a discount hamman and massage....i felt like family.
Not bad..
lovely welcoming staff. Room a bit dusty, and slightly neglected, but otherwise very comfortable. Breakfast unremarkable but ok. Overall, a bit overpriced I think.
sea breezes and views
This was like staying in a Moroccan palace- tiles, painted ceilings, water fountain. Built in the early 20th century,it is a bit dark and shows its age but it was charming and had TV.
Riad mimouna in the medina
The hotel had friendly staff , clean rooms and was overall pretty amazing. You must must must get a seaview room . It's absolutely stunning. Walking through the medina it seems that there couldnt be such a nice hotel as this- but there is. They even upgraded us to a seaview room for free!
Good, but little bit gloomy
Everything was just great, except that the rooms were too dark and gloomy. And a little bit cold, as well. But staff was friendly and helpful, we ordered taxi to meet us at airport and it really did. So, if there would be more light in the rooms, we would be satisfied with everything :)
Everything you imagine from a riad and more if you get the sea view!
Everything was lovely. traditional decor and very helpful staff. the only minor downfall is that the room is a bit damp. This is because it's in a tremendous location right above the rocks and sea. I personally didn't mind - small price to pay for the location. Essouiara is called the windy city but I was pleasantly surprised that it was not windy at all in November. They said it is windy in the summer months.
Amazing sea view and sounds
This is more of a hotel than a riad - it feels more like a hotel than a home due to it's size and formality. Stayed for 4 nights and had a sea view room on the top floor - definitely recommended! The hotel is part of the sea wall / defences, so the sight and noise of the waves crashing is amazing. Missing the point if you don't get a sea view room I think. Location great for wandering around the town, close to the entry point to walk the ramparts, and also the thuya wood workshops. The streets around the hotel are old narrow alleys (some uneven ground), and some do get very dark at night. Never felt unsafe, but glad we had a torch. Imagine some people would find it hard to get their bearings.. Breakfast was on the roof terrace (covered so not windy), and substantial. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and there are big communal areas with free wifi, great to read a book etc. Highly recommended.
Nice hotel, but room in need of some basic maintenance
The hotel is located in a very interesting historical building in the heart of Essaouira medina. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the communal areas are very nicely presented. The upgrade offered on arrival was very welcome and the room was clean and in a good location with windows on two sides. The downsides were the warped window frames, which made the windows next to impossible to close, once opened, and also the bathroom, which felt very dated and in need of a spruce up, and could also do with new towels as the ones provided felt thin and threadbare. The unfortunate weather with heavy rain also showed up some rather serious leaks in the roof in the breakfast room/restaurant. In conclusion a nice hotel in an interesting location, but do be aware that you will have to walk from the bus/taxi station and the streetlighting is sporadic in the surrounding area, which can feel a bit unsettling walking back after dark.
a quality hotel for the price offered
Good location, good service, nice breakfast. Excellent ocean view.
The riad Mimouna -Essouira
My wife and I had a wonderful time at La Mimouna-Essouira. The hotel is very comfortable and the personel exceptional. Kudos to Hanane and Aziz for making our stay memorable. Great people in a great environment.! Warmest regards from the USA Moustapha & Marcia
Riad Mimouna Hotel is really clean,
Riad Mimouna Hotel is really clean, very nice crew and a good traditional moroccan breakfast. We enjoyed our stay in the Riad and I would like to suggest it to everybody.
Riad Mimouna
The Riad Mimouna was excellent. An upgrade to a suite with a stunning view over the sea was greatly appreciated. The staff were all very helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this riad. Location was very convenient, but as is the case with a lot of riads, the narrow lanes are often badly lit and a bit pungent! Essaouira was a laid back, relaxing experience with good restaurants, clean beach and the only real hassle you should get is from the proprietors of the open air fish restaurants at the port. Even the souk shop and stall owners are not too pushy and do take no for an answer. Their counterparts in Fez could do with learning this lesson as I bought a good number of gifts in Essaouira and none in Fez.
It is a nice hotel with all po
It is a nice hotel with all possibilities inside. I critisize the service, it was almost non existing. No warm welcome, when we arrived, the receptionist sitting far away and rising unwillingly from her desk. The hotel had a nice fireplace, nether lightened inspite of the chilly weather, no lanterns either (this was not the case in other hotels which we visited). The breakfast at the fine terrass was also served by a depressed waiter. Outside around the corner, beggers going through the dustbins in the dark street (of course not the fault of the hotel but a a little better lighting would be helpful for the clients).
Quiet, stylish, stunning views
This was definitely a highlight of our trip. The riad is new, has wonderful and tasteful decor, with comfortable rooms and a pretty good restaurant on the top floor with a stunning view of the ocean. Given that there is literally nothing between the hotel and the ramparts, you can't any closer to the gigantic waves breaking on the rocks beneath you. Would definitely go back. Remember that there aren't petit taxis in the medina, so you will have to walk to get to the hotel. You can get someone to lead you there, and you can easily hire someone with the cart for your luggage. We didn't try this, but I'm sure the hotel will send someone to pick you up if you call them. You can't drive in the medina either, so plan on leaving your car outside the walls if you have one. It's about 20 min on foot from Bab Marrakech where Supratours drops you off.
Riad Mimouna, the best place to stay in Essaouira
Riad Mimouna is by far the best place I have ever stayed in Essaouira. The staff is very friendly and the location along the ocean ideal. A wonderful hotel.
Riad Mimouna - Medina and Beach Charm
The hotel is a converted building with 3 floors of rooms - larger than most traditional riads. It has a very charming large lobby with Moroccon furnishings and decor, and is located right on a magnificent beach - you won't see the beach unless you have a room facing that direction or until you go to the the roof-top breakfast.. The view from the roof-top is stunning and worth the stay. There is no elevator so the porter has to carry your luggage up a circular suitcase for you - which means tips are involved. The rooms are on the small side and therefore rooms with two beds have very small, very firm mattress beds with clean linens - although the bed covers seemed like they could use a washing. The furniture was worn and dated but acceptable. There is no air conditioning so opening a window is required for air circulation - some rooms on some floors may require some thought to security before considering leaving a window open in the evening. The room did smell a little musty - to be expected to some degree at a beachside hotel. The biggest surprise was that the hotel is located far and deep into the Essaouira medina. Which requires having to contract porters (more tips) with wheelbarrow-like carts to take you and your luggage to the hotel through long winding and narrow paths - at night it can feel a little intimidating. The good news is that during the day-time, you are situated in a great spot to go sight-see, shop, and eat in the medina and on the beach.
Riad or hotel
Thsi is more of a hotel than riad due to its size and layout. The terrace is nice but it is so windy i can't imagine eating out there. The views (of the sea) were great but you are almost on the furthest edge of the square and the beach so location was not perfect. The dark streets can seem a little threatening at night. The place itself was nice and the staff were great.
On the Atlantic
The Riad is beautiful and the staff are very helpful. Breakfast is served on the roof with great views of the ocean, ramparts, and medina.
Riad Mimouna | Hotel in Essaouira | Travala.com
The Riad Mimouna is beautiful (my wife would say”magical”)! From the moment you walk in the main door the beauty of the interior stands out. Rooms are decorated in a very traditional manner, and are a great space for a couple in our case. The real surprise was going up to the roof top restaurant and lounge area. This overlooked the ocean and might be the best view in Essaouira. Our breakfasts were served here and what a way to start your day! I would recommend this Riad to everyone.
