Wonderful staff. Superb location. Great for families. Breakfast could be better.
Good & Safe Riad
Good & Safe Riad, the location is 🔝during the night is silent. Rooms are clean. I give 4 stars because of 3 things: 1. Bed is uncomfortable, it looks you’re sleeping up a wood table. 2: during the night is cold even though there’s air conditioner in the room. 3: sometimes in the room there’s smell of sigarette. Breakfast is abundant and it’s amazing. Staff is extremely friendly and kind. They’re always ready to help you. Overall recommend!
Amazing stay!
My stay was fantastic overall at the Riyad Lakhdar. There were some reviews saying that it doesn't look like the pictures but it looked just like the pictures if not better. It was a little chilly in the morning and evenings but Hassan immediately upon request gave me a heater which made my stay perfectly comfortable. The ceiling in the room was wooden and all the deck oil felt so authentic and regal. I got the authentic Riyad stay I was looking for. The staff there were very friendly and Issan, The manager of the hotel was always asking if everything was okay and was always there to help especially with respect to ordering things from Glovo and visiting the swanky M avenue. When the mornings were extra cold they were deliver the breakfast to my room which was such a nice added touch as it's normally on the roof terrace.
This property really made a positive impact with my total experience in Marrakech. The check in process was smooth, the owner of Riad Lakhdar was very engaging and really made an effort to talk to us as hotel guests when it comes to our stay, food or any requests that we would like. Also Hassan was very friendly and helpful. I believe I have made an excellent decision to stay in Riad Lakhdar and I cannot wait to go back and have a fantastic stay again! - Sir Mark from Philippines
This Riad is extremely authentic and in the heart of the Medina, making it only a 10 min walk to the Jemaa el-Fna market. It’s also very close to the souks, money exchange around the corner and restaurants - perfect location! And very quiet so won’t even realise you are so close to the square! The hospitality and welcome was great - made to feel very welcome and comfortable! Breakfast was a variety of traditional breads, every day being slightly different and really appreciated the effort they went to in the prep! Views from the terrace where breakfast is served are beautiful. Even prepared breakfast early for us on days where we had to leave the riad early! Mohsine and Esa were amazing hosts and went out of their way to make sure we were okay, would definitely recommend this place to everyone!
This road changed my reservation date without my knowledge. Refused for refund. Never answer my call. Horrible service.
Staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. Good no frills, comfortable and a more traditional place to stay slightly away from all the noise and hassle of the medina. Also not too far from the new town either. My bed was very comfortable and the bathroom facilities absolutely fine. Good views from the roof terrace which is a lovely place to have breakfast and soak up the sun. Overall very good value and I would gladly stay there again.
Photoshop makes perfect
If you looking for good place to stary, this one is ok. Unfortunately the photos doesnt show the condition of the place. It doesnt look do good in reality. You can find simmilar places in better price.
We had a lovely time staying at the Riad. Location is excellent, only a few minutes walk away from Djemaa el Fna square, yet being quiet enough to be able to relax in a peaceful environment. Staff is very friendly and helpful from recommendations of places to eat , arranging trips out to printing out our return boarding passes. Highly recommend.
Great place to stay in
Beautiful traditional Riad, in a central location. 5 min walk from Koutobia Mosque, 5 min walk from the Jemaa el Fna square and the medina that surrounds it. The breakfast is second to none, so tasty and fresh always served with a smile and on time. Issam the Hotel manager and all his staff makes you feel so welcome, they can’t help enough, showing you local places and helping you with any issues you may have. They offer transfers to and from the airport for a cheap price and arrange all of this for you. The room is cleaned everyday without fail. If you are looking for a place to stay, let this be it!!
A traditional riad conveniently located within minutes from the Jemma el-Fna square, the medina, and other popular tourist locations. Led by Ayoub, the staff were really hospitable, were all too eager to please, and went out of their way to assist and resolve issues where they could. As part of our reservation, a generous Moroccan breakfast was served each morning, packed full of breads, olives, cheeses and more, it was really enjoyable. A welcoming mint tea was also served on our arrival, which was a nice added touch. Agree with other reviews on here that the rooms and furnishings are slightly dated and don’t really match what is shown on the touched-up photos provided, in our room the bathroom faucets and light switches were hanging loose. Overall, we enjoyed a pleasant stay here.
Actual riad & room not as nice as pics. Not comfy
Actual riad is in good location, but rooms not as nice as pictures. Rooms are run down and need refurbishing. Example, room has just 1 lamp above so it's dark. Bathroom has no tissue holder and towel holder. Check in took 30 min because they still prepared the room even if we arrived at 5pm. Our room lock got broken - the key couldn't unlock it so we couldn't get in. Good thing staff service is good. Bfast is generous but mostly breads in Moroccan style.
The man at the reception was very kind and helpful. The room was beautiful and the breakfast absolutely amazing. It took a bit long and we couldn't enjoy as we had to catch a bus but what we tried looked and tasted great. The riad is not in the most turistic part of the city, although is not too far from the square. But i felt there were a lot of locals or Moroccan tourist only around. Took me a bit long to find something to eat.
Nice and friendly staff. We've got very nice stay. Great thaks to Ahmed and Ladies providing room service, they were very friendly and helpful. We definitely recommand this place.
Excellent place if you want to really submerge yourself in Arabic/Moroccan living. From traditional breakfast, to open rooms to the courtyard. I love they use the old doors for each room so if you need to leave and want to lock your room just ask for a lock to put on the door. This is just like our family house in Settat. The staff was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed.FYI if you need privacy and you come with family, get two rooms. Like most traditional houses in Morocco everyone sleeps in the same room. I have gone Marrakech often and will make this our first choice every time, going forward.
I was happy in the beginning, but during the course of our stay we encountered few bumps. We ordered a Lamb Tajine for dinner. The meat was dry and chewy. Talked to The manager, nothing was done about it and gave me a lot of excuses. Didn’t try to solve the problem. Our last night we went out for a late dinner with entertainment. When we came back the door was locked, we knocked, ring the bell no answer we kept knocking and ringing the bell for more than 15 minutes no answer. We had to go get a room for the night elsewhere. When we went back to the Riad to get our belongings and checkout, I spoke to the Manager who was on duty, he said that he waited for us until 4am. If that was the case we would have spent the night in the room as we were back at 3 am. That was a lie. I thought I found a spot to become a repeat customer as I go to Marrakech every year. I guess I will keep looking. Too bad!
Amazing place
Amazing place, very friendly staff. We really liked our stay at Riad Lakhdar. I asked for a surprise arrangement for my wife and hotel staff get on to it right away. Overall very nice place, just few minutes walk from center.
Isaam was very helpful. He arranged an airport drop for a cheaper rate. Also the women in the kitchen who happily prepared an early breakfast for us as we had to leave for a tour.
Me and my husband had a really wonderful stay at Riad Lakhdar. Location was great as it's close to everything you need. Issam made our holiday extra special, nothing was too much for him to ask, thank you for your hospitality.
Amazing little Riad in the middle of everything! Walking distance to all of the hot stops, very authentic, amazing staff and a good Moroccan breakfast! VERY VERY RECOMMENDED!
Bedbugs
Arrived on our first night in Marrakech. Found three bedbugs in the bed. Manager changed our rooms to an upstairs room. Noisy during the night. Breakfast was not there and when we asked it was rushed and only alright. Location reasonably central. Bus to Essaouira was expensive.
fine stay, but be careful when it's money
well, fine stay for that price, but you still have to be too careful, taxis for example from the aiport cost only around 7Euros for any amount of people ( fixed price and everyone in Marrakech knows about this ) while i got an email that i could pay 22 euros so they transfer me from the airport with the same transport mean. i wasnt informed about breakfast times, there was nobody at the reception during check out, for many minutes, had to call the owner and ask for someone, stay in itself is completly fine, but be careful of the possibility of being used.
Enchanted Riad
Very nice riad, atmospheric with great architecture. Free breakfast on rooftop patio was a plus. Issam was courteous and helpful. He also plays the nye (Arabian flute) and the music is enchanting. Overall, recommended!
Affordable Riad with Warm Staff
Great service - pleasant, professional staff go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible, as well improving your experience of Marrakesh. Excellent, convenient location - a short walk from all necessary amenities and other attractions. Safe - security within the hotel is very good. Our room needed a little maintenance but was clean. Value for money - if you want to experience the real Marrakesh and are happy with simple living, stay here.
My stay in Marrakech
The trip was absolutely amazing. As a young American woman, I was a little nervous about Morocco was the staff was so accommodating and put my fears to ease. They also arranged travel accommodations for my delayed flight. The room was comfortable, the riad was beautiful and conveniently located, and the breakfast was a real taste of Morocco. This is my fifth country this year and one of countless hotel bookings, as I often travel for work. However, this stay was my favorite of the past year and I couldn't recommend it highly enough!
Mahjoub gave us exceptional service and helped us make bookings. The room was really nice except for the airconditioner which kept leaking. Breakfast was really nice.
Holiday
From the moment we arrived we felt welcome here. The staff here are so kind and caring. if want to feel like you are staying in someone's home and also treated like family this is the place for you.
The welcoming from.the staff and tranquility of the place
Riad was in very poor conditions, bathroom smelled of mold and had leaking sink that would leak on floors if you ran the water. Area was not the greatest, and riad was very noisy at night ...on a positive note, Staff was very attentive and breakfast was great on sunny rooftop Terrace.
Riad Lakhdar was nice, clean, and the staff were very friendly and hospitable. We went on a trip to the desert organised with Riad Lakhdar and it went well. We enjoyed the breakfast and the rooms. Be aware there is sometimes less privacy and more noise than you'd expect, being a riad where naturally all rooms face inwards. Thanks for the nice stay.
On arrival we were greeted by the owner himself. No questions asked and we were taken to the room. A complimentary tea was served and then the check in formalities were completed. The owner on request talked us through the main attractions on the map which was very very helpful and suggested a few places to visit including eateries. The property sits very close to the jemaa el fenna and koutoubia mosque only a few minutes away. Brilliant breakfast and a strong wifi. Overall a superb experience.
Fabulous
Amazing stay , everything was perfect . It was a nice time in this Riyad, calm and clean. Great lovely staff . We will get back again . Thanks
Very good on all counts
Very good stay and good value, superbly friendly and accommodating staff. Only slight drawback is no credit card facility, though I suspect this is normal for similar hotels in the area.
Truly authentic Riad
I had a wonderful stay at this Riad with its extremely helpful staff. It is in the perfect location for getting around on foot and exploring.
Good location
Great location, walking distance to the Medina and Souks. We came during colder weather and it was cold in the room. There is a portable heater, but it doesn’t keep the room warm, it only keeps the person next to it warm. The shower area is very small so they have a shower curtain to cover around you. However it doesn’t keep the water from spreading all over the floor because the curtain stops on my knees. So the bathroom was always wet after a shower. Overall good place and good location.
Fantastic location and wonderful service from staff! A bit cold in the room and not easy to block out exterior noise from other guests. But otherwise had a great stay and would recommend.
Romantic Moroccan getaway
The staff were pleasant and wonderfully helpful. Issam, the reception man, was always upbeat and genuinely seemed to enjoy his work. The room was romantically styled. It is very old which I think gives it character. Some folks may not like the 'not newness.' Hot fresh Moroccan Mint tea was available throughout the day upon request. The breakfasts were great; fresh eggs of your choice, variety of local breads, OJ, coffee/tea and sitting out on the roof top terrace over looking the ancient buildings and history of the area, listening to the sounds emanating from numerous mosques gave it it a unique enjoyable experience for us. Beautiful sunsets in the evening. Day trips were also arranged and appreciated. We were within walking distance of several good restaurants and a local patisserie. We will travel here again.

Staff were very helpfully, location is very nice
Location good but not well managed riad.
Hello, I will start with the positive parts. Location is perfect. Staff work hard. However, the riad needs works. Shame that the hotel has a lot of potential but unfortunately the owner needs to be more present and doing more for the riad. I stayed in 2 roads in prior trips. In both riads we were greeted by the owner or the manager with tea and cookies and we were given history about the place and suggestions what to do and where to go. Not this riad. The mattress was old and stain in the mattress. Bed sheets not good enough. Heat not working. But we were given a heater next day. Breakfast not good at all compare to other riads, and we have to ask and wait for it. I don't blame the workers. I feel they are overworking as you see the same people all the time. I am not trying to be negative. I am positve person and i usually dont like to criticize. Hope the owner will not be upset and think this message to make changes as the hotel is in great location and all negatives comments can become positive if the owner invest more in the property and personnel. Roof and rooms need update and Reno. Rooms are big and bathrooms are big too. Need to work in decor and furniture. Last thing the hotel does not have parking for 2 Euro as indicated. There is parking next to the hotel for about 4 euro a day which is not bad for me. You can park the car in the street if there is a parking and you pay the guards. I was told by the riad it cost 2 Euro. Will not return to this riad. Sorry.
A nice basic read.
This was a great place for the price. The room we got was a bit small for 5 people but it worked over all. the bathroom was big and spacious. The front desk was really nice and helpful. we got the breakfest and that was good to, basic but good.
A lovely riad in Marrakech
We only stayed for a night here but it was a really pleasant stay. Easy to find and in a good area of town, the riad was an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the souks. For the price it was an absolute steal!
STAY AWAY. Extremely unclean, stains on bed sheets and pillow cases. Did not clean the rooms, everything smells of mold, dark rooms with very little light.
You can’t go wrong with this place. You get what you pay for, it’s cheap, the staff are lovely and it’s in the centre of Marrakech. I would definitely recommend this place and would return here again. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Wonderful riad
Road Lakhdar is in a great location, super close to the main square and inside the medina. I felt super safe walking in the area late at night. The hosts were very helpful and the room was beautiful. It's off of a busy street, but we didn't hear any noise from the room. Breakfast is served from the rooftop with a great view of the city. I would highly recommend this riad.
Riad is nice and clean and is close to pretty much everything. Staff is friendly and always there if you need something.
PERFECT RIAD CLOSE TO THE MEDINA
From the moment we booked everything went to plan, the price was brilliant and cheap for the location as it was literally a 10 min walk from everything, there is an all night shop 2 min away for snacks and water, i emailed the owner before our arrival just out of courtesy and recevied an emailed back straight away. Upon arrival we were greeted by welcoming friendly staff who offered to carry bags to our room, the riad from the outside is that of usual hot weather buildings but once inside you are hit by beautiful morrocan colour, tiles and beautiful lamps, plants and seating area on the ground floor was lovely. Our room was spacious with a huge bed a small table and chairs morrocan style, the high ceiling in the bathroom and the large bath (big enough for 2) was just what you need after a long but fascinsting day shopping around the souks. Breakfadt was simple but lovely and of an evening we had a take away and sat on the top balcony enjoying the outstanding views as far as the eye can see. All in all our stay was fantastic, wonderful staff everyone of them and great value for money being so close to the nightlife but also quiet enough for a peacefull night sleep. WE WILL DEFINATELY BE STAYING AGAIN 🤗 THANK YOU.
An authentic Morroccan riad at a reasonable price
It is a true riad, very colourful, retains a lot of it characters without renewing its decor . the shower provides a good supply of hot water, how ever need to have it run for a minute beforehand. the location is good, 10 minutes to the medina and taxi can drop you right on the door. Plenty of good restaurants and riads around, very safe. Breakfast is simple but good, staff are excellent. The place is very clean but the shower curtain needs to be replaced .Overall a lovely riad . Will stay there again next time.
Big disappointment
Too many issues here - the room that was offered to us was not the one I booked (with TV). I was told I will get that room the next day as it wasn't ready. I did get the room the next day, but didnt enjoy the hassle of having to pack up again. There were no clean towels ready, they were in the dryer!! I got one towel as a courtesy (we were two people staying), and that towel was all torn and had several spots. The manager stepped out and actually purchased brand new towels as there were several guests asking for towels. I cant say if that was a good thing because towels were sold on the street, and potentially had dust, and other dirt from the streets on it. The breakfast was by far the worst part - waited for 40 mins before I was served. I understand some items can take time, but I think tea/coffee should not take more than a few minutes. Breakfast included orange juice (decent), mint tea (decent), crepe (horrible), bread (very dry and stale). I ended up checking out a day earlier. I would not recommend this Riad at all.
In the Medina
The owner’s hospitality is unmatched! He took my friends and I to several places free of charge including his brothers’s restaurant The Queen Atlantic. Amazing food! The Riad is right in the Medina so its a quick walk to the souks/shops. The Riad itself could use some updates but overall it’s a comfortable stay. Please consider that this is a 3-Star hotel so the amenities are limited. The breakfast is a great start to your day and will hold you over until lunch. The hospitality made up for most of the flaws.
Nice Riad
Nice Riad in the medina and close to the souks. Staff and owner very pleasant and helpful
Beautiful and Authentic Experience
The experience was everything we wanted and more. It far exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was consistently fresh and flexible while service was always top notch while owner and staff were extremely hospitable, helpful and help to make this a very meaningful experience. The owner was very knowledgeable about excursions, tours, activities and provided valuable suggestions on making our way around the city. The hotel is in close proximity to nearly everything, safe and very cozy. Staff and owner go above and beyond to accommodate guests. Very flexible with amazing communication. Owner was able to arrange tours and private spa sessions. The tours were well worth it and the private hamman and massage were within the hotel and services were simply outstanding. We recommend this hotel to anyone and we would definitely return. Staying here gave us a true and beautiful Moroccan experience. We are so grateful!!
Nice stay.
Walkable to main areas and staff is warm. You may be cautious on how easy you hear the voice from lobby! Authentic design.
Steph
The hotel was excellent. It was a wonderful stay there. I would recommend it for anybody. Close to the square.
Great location
The staff and owner of this Riad were very helpful. Very friendly atmosphere.
Fake. Dirty. No breakfast
The manager was kind and helpful once we got there. However we found a dirty room very far to be like those nice pictures advertised on their webpage. The sheets and towels were dirty and we asked them to get it changed. In the morning - 8.00 am - we went on the terrace to have the breakfast we paid for and with great surprise there was nobody including the staff . In the little kitchen , open out at the terrace, there was just tea left over from the night before and cats and birds eating anything. We tried to call anybody unsuccessfully. Then we opened the fridge , thinking we could make our own breakfast, and after seeing the conditions inside it we left quickly the hotel to go to a bar anywhere else. This riad is really too expensive compared to what it offers (the price per night should be 15€, just to cater travellers on budget). Considering there are thousands of nice riad with a great quality/price in Marrakech, I would definetly discourage to choose this one.
a good morocan experience
we booked this riad based on price, location and other write ups we were not disappointed on any count the staff were friendly spoke better english than i did arabic our room was cleaned each day and as others photos show was truly morocan in style that said if you want travelodge blandness dont stay here because you will be disappointed i would recommend this riad to anyone
All good - central location, friendly staff, spacious rooms, lovely roof top terrace for breakfast or lounging, authentic decor with ornate doors and finishes. The owner went above and beyond the norm to provide a great stay. Would recommend this riad to any budget conscious traveller looking for great value.
Best of North African/Maghreb Hospitality
It was an amazing stay. The manager and the staff are awesome. I'll surely visit again
Recommended!
The hotel is simply awesome! The price is really reasonable for such a stylish hotel with breakfast included. You will not find friendlier and more helpful staffs (including the owner himself). The location is great. It's only a few minutes walk from the center of the old town yet still accessible by car.
Excellent location with great staff
We stayed for 4 nights But then added another night whilst staying in Marrakech The staff were brilliant as hosts, nice breakfast, organising the trips very easily and on short notice. I think the best thing is the location. On a street where the taxi can drop you off right outside, a simple left and left takes you into the souks and 5-10 mins to the square, 5 mins walk to the mosque and straight walk to Guilez from the main road.
Good location & value for money
We stayed 3 nights at this Riad. The staff and owner were nice and helpful. Location is good as it is a couple of streets away from the hectic souks. Its not luxury accommodation but is a great place to stay for the price.
Nice place for a long weekend
I joined pleasure to business and it was a lovely place to stay, really quiet and fresh. All the riad is in traditional style and the employees are very kind. Close to everything
Awesome!
Lovely rooms and tiled bathrooms - very clean. Gorgeous courtyard where you can relax, have breakfast, etc. There are trees growing inside, and birds can fly in from the open roof, so it's truly lovely. My only complaint was the charge for the hammam, which is a wonderful and very handy service to have right there, but is about 2 1/2 times the charge outside the hotel.
Good place to stay
If you do not want to spend much, then this is the place for you. They have reasonable price desert safari trips, which are awesome. Free breakfast is good at the hotel and free wifi as well. If I am in Morocco again, I would choose this place for its convenient location, price and the services they offer. Thank you for making our stay comfortable.
Just amazing!
The Riad was great! Beautiful. We had a great time over there. Delicious breakfast on the roof and really friendly and helpful staff.
dishonest owner
terrible experience where the owner switched us to an "annex" property that was not the same location, quality level, ownership, etc.
WOW
This riad is only 10 minutes walk from Jemaa el Fna(main square). Cant get lost!!.But taxis can get down this street if you do.It is spotlessly clean.Breakfast is plentyful. Staff are fantastic..Mahjoub the owner is soooo helpful. He will keep you right about what to do and where to go.Book any trips with him. You will get best deal. I am awaiting hip replacement and have mobility issues but room was on ground floor.Bathroom huge, shower usable, bed large and comfy. Served my breakfast on ground floor instead of beautiful roof terrace. So close to main square even I could walk. I truly loved every minute of my stay at this riad and Marrakesh is somewhere you MUST see.One warning : if you want 5 star homogenous hotel then this is not for you. This is traditional in the Medina. Book yourself a hotel room in the Guilez area. You could be anywhere in the world there.
Peace and quiet in Marrakech
Lovely little riad accessible by car (unlike most in the Medina), so peaceful yet close to all the chaos! Friendly staff, authentic rooms and a haven after shopping in the souks!
To be tweaked to be perfect..
Hotel in great area - accessible with car/taxi, but in close proximity to Medina and main plaza. Rooms very quiet but sparce on bedlinens, towels, and toiletries. Nice breakfast, prepared and served by very friendly hosts. Unfortunately the entire top-floor and much of the roof terrace is still under construction as of Sep 2015 and probably for the months to come, so expect some cosmetic impact,(bearable) noise during morning and evening hours and forget the idea of comfortably hanging out under the stars...
Absolutely lovely hotel close to all of the tourist attractions. Great friendly and helpful staff. Overall a great break.
Stop over in Marrakesh
My son and I had a nice stay at the Riad Lakhdar. We stayed here several times during our trip through Morocco. The A/C in the rooms works great and the sitting area is lovely. The staff is very helpful and arranged for an airport transfer. The breakfast is good and the location is near to the center.
Loved this Riad!
Nice Riad with the best breakfast we have had on our trip! We returned to stay here on our way back through Marrakesh.
Excellent
Great staff and delicious breakfast. A very homely place.
Fantastic riad
Brilliant. Beautifully decorated rooms. Very helpful staff.
Great stay.
Me and my wife stayed at this hotel for a week and we thought it was great. Mahjoob the hotel owner was fantastic. He gave us alot of information about Marrakech and suggested places we should visit. Hotel staff were very helpful especially Adil. Hotel is very close to jamaa el fina square just 5 mins walk. I recommend it and would stay there again if i visit Marrakech
Excellent hotel near Medina square
Staff were always friendly and eager to help. When the lady prepping breakfast found out we had to leave quickly and wouldn't be able to sit down to eat, she quite kindly packed a small to-go breakfast for me - so sweet! The room and bathroom was large, and cleanly kept. The garden in the middle was a great spot to relax for some shade, and the upper terrace was perfect for relaxing under the sun. Although we had to check out of our room at noon, the owner encouraged us to stay in the courtyard if we liked, and to store our baggage at the back if we needed to. Wifi services were good. Really nice place - I would definitely recommend staying here!
great location and service
My brother and I stayed here for 4 days and were very happy. Has an authentic feel to it, and was very clean. The owner is a friendly guy and attended to our needs very well, even giving us a lift to the airport for a reasonable fee!
Perfectly placed!
I have stayed at this riad twice and loved it on both occasions! I first visited in May during a last minute trip with a friend and loved it so much decided to go back again! My second visit was in July. The riad is perfectly located on the outskirts of the Medina a few minutes walk from Jemma El Fna and a 10-15 minute walk from Gueliz. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was prepared for us every morning, which we ate on the beautiful roof terrace. The riad offers an airport taxi service (which is cheaper than if you grab a taxi from outside the airport or off the street) and also offers a taxi service on request and excursions. Theres a lovely hammam nearby, Les Bains de Azahara, which I visited on both trips and the nightlife in Gueliz is good fun, particularly Gossip, Level 5, Silver and Theatro (but i would recommend visiting outside of Ramadan as a few places were closed when we visited in July). The riad is comfy and relaxed, with an authentic Moroccan feel. Would definitely go back (AGAIN) and would recommend to both couples and those travelling with friends.
What a great place!
Hicham, Mahjoub and his brother, as well as the young ladies on staff were wonderful! I couldn't have asked for better service. Good breakfast, a great environment to sip on mint tea in the afternoon, and a very laid back feel. The tastefully decorated rooms make you feel like you are in Marrakech, and the staff makes you feel welcome. I especially loved the large tiled bathroom! The location is perfect...not in some winding, hard to find alley like many Riads, but on a wide street only 5-10 minute walk from Jemaa el Fna and the main mosque in the center of the old city. This is exactly the kind of place I am looking for when I travel. What a great stay! Thank you, I will be back...
My Oasis in Marrakesh
This was a charming, relaxing and calming place to come home to after the craziness of wandering the Medina of Marrakesh. It was always nice and cool inside - I never even needed to turn on the A/C. The place is so beautifully decorated that at times I didn't want to leave. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful, even offering me breakfast when I was too jet-lagged to get up before noon. Great service, beautiful place, comfortable, affordable and less than 5 minutes to the main plaza and souks. I would definitely stay again.
great location
great location for single female traveller, A short walk to Jemaa el Fna.I felt safe to walk alone. Very clean. A good breakfast served with a smile. Good home cooked lamb tajine. Hammam el Bacha in the next street is well worth a visit
Lovely, close to center
Authentic guest house, beautiful, close to main center, walkable to everything, very nice staff. Loved it.
Nice decor, close to all the tourist sights
When we arrived we were stuck by the lovely decor - lamps, rugs, plants, all make this a lovely calming place to get away from the busy markets and streets. The room was clean, beds firm (but got a good sleep on them). The room opens out onto the ground floor courtyard, some may prefer more privacy. Although we could lock our door there was no key for the main door, we needed to ring the bell if the front door was closed. However, the owners said it was fine if we wanted to stay out late but we felt a bit uncomfortable about coming back after midnight in case we woke people up. The breakfast was nice - mint tea or coffee, juice, bread, conserves and Moroccan pancakes or croissants. The one time we asked for an evening meal the night before, we don't think he told the other staff as we mentioned it to them again the next afternoon and they said it was too late notice! Also, we asked the owner for breakfast no later than 8am on the last morning as we had a bus to catch but we don't think he told the other staff this too as we had to remind them and then it wasn't served until 8:15 and we had to down as much as we could and run for a taxi!
Fantastic city centre Riad
My girlfriend and I had a large downstairs room in this little Riad just 5 mins from the Jemaa El Fna square and 3 mins from the Ben Youssef mosque. The room was long with a massive bathroom. It had a comfortable bed, TV, table and chairs and opened out onto the tiled courtyard with water feature. There was a roof top terrace and the room was peaceful despite being so close to the madness. The staff were friendly and even kindly put on breakfast at the earlier time of 6.30am one morning when we were heading out for the day. They also offered us dinner, sisha and alcohol upon request. It hard to pick many faults with this Riad. It would have been nice to have our own keys for the front door instead of having to ring the doorbell each time and maybe a map sent in advance (as other Riad's have done before) would have helped although I thoroughly recommend this Riad to any couples who seek a clean and comfortable place close to the city centre.
Great place to stay
Riad Lakhdar is a lovely experience. Very relaxed atmosphere with staff that are very attentive to your needs. The location is perfect, just minutes from the main square but in a quiet road. Quick access to everything you need. The Riad is beautifully designed and kept. Our room was stunning! As was the rooftop with amazinng views over the city and towards the mountains. Would definitely recommend.
A good first experience in Marrakech.
Our first accommodation in Morocco, we were made welcome by the owner and served mint tea on arrival. Our room was large, equipped with beds, and wardrobe along with beautiful fittings and stained glass windows, leading on to a huge bathroom with bath, sink, toilet and bidet. The beds were a little on the hard side for my liking, but this seems to be the way things are in general in Morocco. The owner was only too happy to answer any questions, and keen to show us around the rest of the Riad, which was built around a large central courtyard and decorated traditionally. There was no key for the outside door provided, but ringing the bell resulted in attention very quickly from a cheerful member of staff. One feature of this riad we liked that wasn't available at others we stayed in was the roof terrace. This overlooked not only the courtyard, but also the rest of the Marrakech medina, which was very pleasant to sit out on and watch the sun go down, listening to the call to prayer from the various mosques around the city. Breakfast was delicious, consisting of coffee, breads, pains au chocolat, Moroccan pancakes and jams. We didn't try any as we are interested in exploring for ourselves, but the riad staff also offered excursions and various relaxation treatments to those who wanted them without any pressure to buy if you didn't want to. Overall, a great first place to stay in Marrakech.
A recommander.
