Great Service
Pros: -This hotel has listed accurate walking times to the main attractions, which was appreciated. - The service was great, they were helpful and we were even warned about eating in particular areas that were known to serve old food to tourists. - Great water pressure and it stayed hot for a long time. We had a problem with the shower not draining and it was fixed immediately. -heater provided as well as extra blankets -good breakfast served daily at chosen time. Some people complained in the reviews about the breakfast and I'm not sure why. It was about the same every day; but you got coffee, tea, fresh squeezed orange juice with a slice of cake, warm bread, and a warm pancake-like component with butter and jams. It was delicious and filling. -super secure facility. Iron bars on the door that had to be unlocked whenever you entered or left. -beautiful patio and hotel Cons: -the bed is really hard; after living three years in Europe we are used to the firm beds, but this was more firm than usual. -we weren't given a tour so I didn't realize there was a patio on the roof. Was bummed when I realized we missed out on the sunsets there.
Excellent reception....staff extraordinary.....pleasant ambiance
Superb place great staff. Could do with a little more TLC on roof terrace a wonderful area but needs a couple of new sun parasols as no shade and too hot to enjoy. Food is far better than local restaurants
Beautiful Riad Experience
A very sweet welcome with tea and cookies, breakfast each morning and a very comfortable and beautiful riad experience.
Traditional Riad in the Medina in a great location
Lovey Riad located in the Medina easily accessible without a long walk with luggage but do book a transfer through the Riad for your arrival. Super friendly, attentive and polite staff at the Riad will make you feel very safe and welcome. We were a family of 3 in one of the upstairs suites which was just as imagined with lots of Moroccan decor, and stone bathroom. We were there over New Year so cold at night and early morning but you have heating via the air con unit and also an electric plug in heater if needed-we were very warm in the room. Breakfast was served in the courtyard whatever time we arranged and was very peaceful there. Internet worked perfectly in our room aswell as the courtyard. We would recommend eating at Le Jardin only a short walk from the Riad and fantastic food and atmoshphere, Highly recommend this Riad. Thank you to Adil and Badas for a wonderful stay.
No pick up at airport. No response to phone calls.
2x a few hours before we were to land, the hotel guaranteed by phone that they would have a driver at the airport. DRIVER NOT THERE. We called the hotel 5x, no answer. We were lucky enough to find another hotel at 1:30 am. Next morning several more calls were made, still no answer. I want my money back. I am contacting you late as I have been ill since returning. Travelers, DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL.
Great location
I had a great time at Riad Cannelle. The host was very helpful, and the room was incredible. The only downside is the entrance- we walked around for a little while before finding the Riad (it is down a small alley, and there aren't any good signs for the entrance).
Very warm and welcoming front staff. Greeted with tea and pastry (like at most riads). Nice large rooms, either a bath or shower depending on which room given. Beds standard like other riads. Host provided map and directions. Very helpful with arranging for taxi and breakfast at your requested time. Overall very good experience, would stay again. Entrance to Riad off a Main Street in Medina, but door is hidden in a smaller alley to the right. Difficult to find the first time and of course very annoying getting harassed by children, which happens on the way to any Riad.
Don’t think twice, reserve now!!
Amazing. First time in Marrakesh and after a long travel we were given a royal welcome. Excellent service and would recommend to anyone looking to visit Marrakesh.
unsatisfactory hotel management services
Un-pleasant , disappointing , cunning attitude of the hotel staff , Very good at praising standard of services they provide , but nothing in practice . This hotel charged us 300.00dirham on our departure , failed to provide us our prepaid return ground transport although we ask hotel manager to book in advance . A VERY TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE
A beautiful Riad in a pleasant neighbourhood, 5 minutes walk from great restaurants, cafés, Le Jardin Secret and all the souk shopping you could possibly want. Adil and the team at Riad Cannelle were kind, charming and ful of ready smiles and good advice. Highly recommended.
Riad in the Medina
A well presented Riad that was a stones throw away from the start of the Souks and within walking distance from most major landmarks. Although within the busy Medina, once inside the Riad it is quiet, peaceful and relaxing with helpful and friendly staff day and night, and and beautiful, traditional decor. It was easy enough to find despite the maze that makes up the Medina.
A FAIRY TALE
This was my first experience staying in a Riad, is completely difference to a regular hotel living. Was great, living like in a private castle. But you have to be prepare to deal with the neighborhood that is a little difficult. If you want to know Marrakesh as a regular resident this is the place to choose. Alic and Bad knows how to deals with everything you will need.
A fabulous Riad; a little calm in a busy city
We found this was a fabulous place to stay for a real feel for Morocco. Being based in Medina gave us the opportunity to explore the old town souks on foot and the Riad staff were always on hand to give advice and directions. We really liked the fresh mint tea we were served on arrival, and thoroughly enjoyed the Tagine meal we ordered one evening, it was cooked to perfection. Knowing the ingredients had been bought at the local market and prepared on site that day made it really special. Our room was well appointed, clean and beautifully decorated in the local style, and our en-suite bathroom was perfect. The roof top terrace was lovely, although this time of year meant it was too hot in the day time to enjoy it properly. We would highly recommend a stay here for anything from a few days to weeks. There is so much to see locally, and the staff are so friendly and helpful. It was truly a piece of lovely calm in a hectic city. I wouldn't hesitate to book here again.
Very Nice Riad; Great Location
Very nice riad and good location for exploring the medina and the markets. We had a wonderful stay. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful and there for us whenever we needed them. They helped us with maps, suggestions, printing boarding passes.
Lovely
Great place to stay....would definitely return
Great little riad north of the souks
A nice riad - quiet and reasonably comfortable, and with WONDERFUL staff!
Excellent riad, true Moroccan feeling.
Staff excellent always there to help. Hot water is not great and the rooms can get quite cold at night. Riad is really hard to find at night especially when they close some of the routes so be aware. Beautiful looking riad. Will recommend in summer or if you like the cold ;)
Great riad
Great service. Very comfortable room. As with many reviews seen it may not be that easy to find the riad until you get your bearings. The riad can organise a taxi for you - this worked very well.
Nice riad. Too cold for winter
Overall a very nice riad with very friendly staff, however the rooms were extremely cold during the night. The staff tried to make the room temperature more comfortable with heaters and covers but it was still very cold for the night. Probably it is great for summer.
Beautiful riad, welcoming helpful staff
We stayed 4 nights at the riad. Room was spacious and all conveniences thoughtfully provided. Breakfast was quite good. Staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Badr was soft spoken and very apologetic about noise from a early morning rooster and noisy guests in the downstairs room. Adil spoke English well and was efficient and helped find us a day trip. But he is not at all pushy which we liked, unlike the hotel in Fes. Recommend taking the transfer to the hotel if this is your first time as finding the place could be tricky. Once at the hotel it is possible to navigate using the map and Google maps. Riad is about a 15 minutes walk from the main square Jmaa el Fnaa and the Medina or you could take a Petit taxi which we never did.
A greta experience
Just on the edge of the main area in the medine. Marrakech is very full of tourists. At first very difficult to find but once you get your bearings taxis drop you off very near. Staff very helpful. Very pleasant courtyard. Air conditioned rooms but sheet could have been a bit larger. If you ask they will cook an excellent evening meal and it was served beautifully.Could have been a bit more generous on soap and there was no shower gel or shampoo. All in all can highly recommend
Return
Returned to the hotel after taking a side trip to another city. Originally left our bags there and when we got back in, we were able to go straight to our rooms and our bags are already inside. Also, even though they were two reservations, they didn't make us pay for both stays until the end of our second stay. Staff was very helpful friendly. We wanted to see what the other rooms were like as they were all different in case we came back, and since nobody was using them at the time (off season). All the rooms were great, but of course the more expensive ones were bigger and fancier. Still, all rooms were nice and I'd be willing to stay in any of them. Gave us free mint tea to our room when requested. A must stay! However, while it is easy to get to, it is hard to initially find, make sure to avoid the seedy taxis and arrange a pick-up if you don't know how to get there.
Nice hotel near the souqs
Needed a hotel for Marrakech. Got to the hotel, greeted with mint tea while our room was being prepared. Stayed in the hotel, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Room is great and even has a sort of balcony to the inner courtyard, which itself is beautiful. The breakfast in the morning was nice. Upon finding out that we had no hot water, the staff allowed us to use a shower in an empty room for the night, and we had hot water by morning. This was the first of two stays in this hotel (left the city and came back), and since I didn't want to lug my suitcases for an overnight trip in another city, they allowed us to keep our baggage in the hotel. If you do not know how to get to this hotel (ex: you're just arriving), I HIGHLY suggest you ask for the shuttle to the hotel from the airport. They said they send out emails. Reply to it. I don't remember seeing one (might be my own fault, not sure), but feel free to call the hotel or email them. The hotel is difficult to find in a narrow alley and taxis like to rip off tourists and they even get you to use a "guide" who ask for way too much money (if this happens to you, don't feel pressured to pay them anything near what they want, they are just kids scamming you).
Great for a visit to the Souks
The riad was hidden down a couple of alleys - but don't let that put you off. It is in the perfect location for sightseeing the 'real Marrakech'. After your first day out, you soon find your way around. The owner was incredibly welcoming and the riad serene and peaceful. This is a traditional riad and was very clean and comfortable. Make sure you have at least one meal here as the food was amazing, and designed to suit your tastes. I would definitely recommend riad Cannelle.
Awesome hotel
Great staff, trustworthy, helpful, kind. Highly recommended! Nice grounds and close to everything.
please revise your information
It was totally suprising and unexpectedly different than what you advertised. It was a small house with four bed room in a very bad neighbourhood that no one even knew how to takes us there. We stayed the first night and lost the money for secound night because we moved to another Riad.non of the info on this hotel was accurate except the owner was nice and food was not bad. It was not hotel to stay in it.itvwas basicly some ones small house used as a hotel.hotels.com must revise the info on this Russ. The beading was not clean. No clean twols.
I wouldnt go back
The staff was very nice & accommodating but the room was a disappointment to say the least. We were upgraded to a suite (at no cost) which was nice....until we saw the room. The toilet only worked some of the time and the shower had serious drain issues & a lack of sufficient hot water. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable & the linens sketchy. The riad itself is lovely & located conveniently and the staff was lovely, the room just needed some attention.
Good Service
It was a very nice Riad and the service was great. We did not get a large room and the size wasn't very big. If you were to stay here, I would recommend getting one of the larger rooms.
riad cannelle
the riad was nice, but in the evening men hang around the front door which wasnt good even though they seemed to be no problem i didnt like it especially at night. the breakfast could have been better, the last time i was in the city we have croissants and fruit, there's was a bit dull. the friendly staff couldnt have been better, really lovely but it wasnt a 4star riad and i will not stay there again as i think i can do better for my money.
Worth experiencing
The first thing you see when you are dropped off is a door at the end of an alley and you think "what am I doing here?" However, the door opens to a calm peaceful world where the owners and staff look after you very well and are very friendly. My room was very clean and tidy but as a double room it would be a little snug for 2 people. As the room opens onto the open courtyard you can feel the cool night air so you need to wrap up for bed at this time of the year. It is a daunting walk down to the main square as you run the gauntlet of numerous souks and their charming but persistent owners! The trick is not to look at them or their goods and they leave you alone. If not though resign yourself to haggling and having to buy something! Eating at the Riad is recommended as the meal I had on my last night was very nice. Expect to pay 20 euros for a 3 course meal. Overall the Riad is well worth visiting and a pleasant change from the standard chain hotel room.
Great Riad close to the souks, museum and sqaure
A very friendly riad run by Adil and Badr. These guys make you feel very welcome and have great knowledge of the local areas. The riad is a very serene place where you can escape the chaotic culture outside. We had a lovely 4 poster bed with lounge area and ensuite. The outside surrounds as with most riads within the medina and juxtaposed with local life which on first sight seems a bit threatening but you soon realise its not the case. Food in the riad was OK, the tagine a bit lacking in flavour. Best food by miles is in the square with the local guys who set up sausage and kebab bbqs every night. The local restaurant that the riad recommended is extremely expensive - a fixed price of around £100 for 2 people vs a typical evening meal price of £20. A wonderful riad for an amazing city
comfort comfort comfort
On arriving at the riad via a very scary alley way I thought what have we done. However as soon as were in the riad all doubts vanished. The riad is beautiful. Is so peaceful in the main courtyard in the hotel and we were welcomed with a cup of tea while our bags were taken to our room. Badr the night manager was an absolute gem. As we had arrived when it was dark and we wanted to go out for food he was more than happy to take us to the main road to get a taxi and help us with landmarks so w could find our way home again. The riaad is perfectly placed for the souks and only takes ten minutes to walk to the main square. The day manager (cant remember his name!) took us half the way to the square during the day and helped us get our bearings. Nothing was too much hassle for the staff at the riad. After a long day of shopping we got back and sat in the courtyard asking for coffee which was no bother and arrived with cake too! Breakfast was traditional morrocon breakfast of Cake and bread. Delicious. Topped off by a wonderful cup of coffee. Would go as far to say the best coffee i have ever had! Mini bar in the room was great and was no trouble to get this topped up (we had to ask for more beer which again was no trouble) and was very reasonably priced. I would recommend this riad to anyone and will definately stay here if I return to Marrakesh. If I had to find a bad thing too say it would be that I had to ask for toliet roll twice as not enough in the room :)
The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, and you can enjoy the traditional building. Only one problem, the hotel is hard to find.
Excellent établissement avec un personnel aux petits soins.
La chambre traditionnelle avec sa magnifique baignoire
Traumhaftes Personal... gut situiertes Riad. Alles top
Sehr nettes Personal. Super Lage. Alles gut weiter so.
posto curato, tutti sono molto attenti alle esigenze dei clienti, gentili disponibili e volenterosi. Ritornerei senza dubbio una seconda volta.
Riad molto carino, piccolo, abbastanza pulito, personale molto efficiente e colazione fantastica
Very nice side, the staff is very friendly and the location in strategic position, near the souk and m A

A hidden jewel
The place is a little difficult to find, but that makes it more interesting to the exotic experience of Marrakesh. The room was basic but very comfortable. A large bathroom and comfortable bed. hotel has a nice rooftop garden when you can enjoy the sun. The common areas are nicely decorated. They can arrange for you massage, tours and dinners. Breakfast is free.
