Like a Napa Valley destination.

Beautiful exterior, but rooms are quite old, toilets are not well maintained with rusty tap (in a 5-star hotel?) Pool was closed in end of Sep, but on the Expedia website hotel description, it says seasonal pool is only closed from October. Receptionist is not helpful nor friendly while check-in. It is not a 5-star experience that is expected. Restaurant staff is attentive though. Overall, do not recommend this hotel for this price.

Wonderful spa hotel on site of former convent. Well outside city center in quiet and peaceful compound. Luxurious accommodations and excellent staff. Was perfect for a relaxing stay. Culinary delights were beyond fantastic.

Beautiful if rather remote hotel. We had a lovely stay here and really enjoyed the calm relaxed environment. You do need a car though.

Excellent wold stay again

Very comfortable - the rooms were very welcoming. the grounds have a lot of history - the staff were very friendly and helpful. A bicycles were a plus.

Rather disappointing

Hotel.bars,pool etc were all great BUT room housekeeping was poor with no spare toilet paper, no tissues in an empty dispenser, curtains which were off their runners and a safe which continually malfunctioned.No coffee for the in room service and initially no glasses for mini bar/water etc. Not 5 star standard!!! #

Simply amazing

The hotel is incredibly, it is literal in the middle of nowhere which might be a bit difficult to find if your driving but I’m that also makes it very special being away of noise and crowds, it’s a place simple to relax and enjoy, service is absolutely excellent, if you want to have a completely different holidays, to really relax or to celebrate something special this is the place, you won’t regret it 😊

Fantastic hotel and spa.

My wife and I stayed for two days at this grand hotel and spa. Service was first rate and the facility is extraordinary. Food was excellent, although the dinner menu is primarily fish dishes. The spa was fantastic and professionally staffed. A memorable couple of days and we look forward to a return visit.

Fantastic hotel, ultimate Italy experience

The hotel is located a few kilometres outside of Taranto on a small hill within massive olive groves. Driving up to the hotel I first thought it is a small village just to find out that the village was indeed converted into this amazing hotel. Walking into the courtyard towards the reception one immediately got the feeling of grandeur and class. A feeling that was confirmed over the days of our stay. The room was very impressive with a cathedral ceiling and exposed brick. It was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The restaurant is amazing with impeccable service and outstanding food. The prices are definitely comparable to good restaurants in the region. I have to mention the quality of service again as it was truly first class. This is a place I will never forget. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to this gem.

As good as it looks like looks

Absolutely wonderful! Hospitable staff, everyone speaks English and will go out of their way to help. My husband is vegan am doing as long as you let them know in advance the Cheif is very accommodating. The spa is an absolute must! Get the Sharma massage - incredibly relaxing. Also do the horae back riding!

Remarkable Facility

Enjoyed a three night stay in early April. Everything about the stay was superb. It is a beautiful historic facility in a quiet location. We enjoyed high quality meals and a spa treatment during our stay.

Oasis

The hotel was difficult to find but well worth the effort. It is like an oasis!

What a great facility. Location and style like nothing I have ever stayed in before. Must have a car though. The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere but a close drive to Taranto, which was a great city to visit, and Lecce.

Fantastic retreat, what a pleasant surprise

This is a definite if you want to relax near Taranto, Italy. The job of reconstruction of this ancient property was done to perfection. The restaurant is definitely five star and the breakfast service and food quality was unbelievable.

Don't go! this is my little gem!

The Hotel was absolutely amazing, out of the way, almost tranquil. We arrived very late and unfortunately the restaurant had closed but the bar was able to make us a snack, though limited. The room was clean and the complimentary bar was a god send as there are no nearby shops to go grab a drink., non alcoholic of course The breakfast buffet was as to expected and the pastries were irresistible. We did make it a must to have supper from the Restaurant, We are so glad we did. If you are going to order, don't order the full Italian courses, the portion are so large. you're not going to finish it unless you're Italian.. The staff are amazing pleasing and friendly. . never felt unwelcome one bit. We will be back!

I can't write enough good things

Everything about this hotel was fantastic! The staff was friendly and attentive and the accomodations were outstanding. All of the on-site ammenities are top notch. If your travels take you to Taranto, stay in this hotel.

An oasis in Puglia

I cannot fault this hotel in any way. The web-site photos do not do it justice. Everything was of the highest quality and spotlessly clean. The interior design was relaxing and sympathetic to the original architecture, high quality comfortable beds and linen, discreet friendly service and an excellent restaurant on site.

Perfect Relaxation

My daughter and I stayed here in the middle of a 2 week trip through Italy. A perfect respite from the trains, planes and cars. We had Spa massages and spent some time in the Lagoon. Lagoon, maybe overrated, but the massage was the best I've had in my 56 years! A bit of moist mold on one of the walls in the room needed to be pointed out to the staff. I'm sure it was fixed immediately. Probably happened because someone spent hours in the incredible shower with room for at least 4 people. Pleasure for sure.

Remote but peaceful

Relatively remote from Taranto (which we did not want to visit anyway). If you can put the industrial estates on the horizons out of your mind (actually easy as the hotel definitely looks inwards) then a pleasant stay. Staff very attentive and excellent food.

An amazing hotel

This hotel is the perfect places for couples and friends to relax. The room was excellent and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was decent as well. The restaurant was very good; we can especially advocate the pizza nights on Wednesdays! The only con was that the tap water was warm and we could never get could water out of them. Definitely can recommend this five-star hotel!

Wunderbare Location. Man kann in aller Ruhe sich entspannen und erholen. Sehr schöne Poolanlage sowie Spa-Bereich. Auch das Personal sehr freundlich wie auch hilfsbereit.

Beautiful architecture, but not a 5star

That the spa is not included is important to write in the description of the hotel. Also the spa is not up to the standard I have seen of 5star hotels all over Europe. The gym didn’t have good air condition. We ordered a deep tissue massage but got just oiled in and it’s by my experience not a 5 star educated massage professional hired doing the job. The positive side and stars of this hotel is the food and the service in the restaurant and pool bar. There has been a careful thought out in to the architecture and overall construction and gardens making it peaceful and elegant.

Ci è piaciuto il posto, purtroppo imperfetto, durante il nostro soggiorno, la notte è suonato il telefono in camera e non era nessuno. Check in perfetto.

Chambre magnifique avec une vue spectaculaire. L'hotel très authentique et le personnel très à l'écoute et très aimable. Dès qu'on les appelaient, ils venaient. Le nettoyage de la chambre laissait un peu à désirer ( cendrier plein, dentifrice sur le robinet, miroir salle de bain pas nettoyé...)

More than a nice hotel.. a GREAT EXPERIENCE

When we talk about leisure, I am convinced: less and less we go to a restaurant just to eat or even a hotel to just sleep. It is at that moment when the concept of EXPERIENCE makes sense. Some people think that it is fashion, frivolity or one more excuse for things to be more expensive, however, it should not always be that way. Relais Histo, is one of the places where every euro makes sense. Jan and I arrived by boat from Greece so we were at the hotel earlier than expected .A friendly welcome from Alessandra, with a sincere smile and professional treatment .. something as simple as that and offer us a glass of water flavored with lemon and mint and an espresso, it was enough to feel at home .As soon as the room was available (much sooner than I expected and it would have been normal), Alessandra accompanied us and showed us the suite. It was really starting very well!..Pool, reading time in the room and ready for dinner As we had asked to try local dishes, we were notified in the room, that although it was pizza night the chef offered to prepare a regional tasting .. another wow moment!.Domenico, the chef, went to our table and he explained gently what was going to happen.It was “amazing”.I had not eaten at lunch to make “espace” for dinner,but we tasted so many things and so delicious, I almost rolled into the room.Everything was perfect, but the attention given by Giovanni, the maitre, and his team was magnificent. Thx all for this nice experience!

E' stata un esperienza da non ripetere assolutamente

Un lieu exceptionnel pour la villégiature et la détente (ne pas hésiter à fréquenter le spa). Une bonne situation géographique pour ceux qui n'hésitent pas à prendre la voiture pour découvrir les lieux touristiques les plus remarquables: Matera et ses sassi, Lecce, la Vallée d'Itria et ses trulli, la vieille ville de Tarente.

Das Hotel wird als 5 Sterne Unterkunft angeboten und die schönen Fotos haben uns dazu veranlasst, das Hotel zu buchen. Allerdings müsste eindeutig erkenntlich sein, dass der Spa-Bereich im hoch hohen Übernachtungspreis nicht inkludiert ist und der Betreiber auch für Hotelgäste zusätzliche Preise verlangt, die inakzeptabel sind. Allein für die Innenpoolanlage wird über 60 € aufgerufen, und das für eine begrenzte Zeit von 45 oder 60 min., d.h. danach muss man den Spa-Bereich wieder verlassen. Für uns inakzeptabel, aber aufgrund unserer Hochzeitsreise haben wir uns ein Paket mit Poolbentzung und Massage von 220 € (für 2 Stunden) geleistet...Die Massage war toll, aber der Preis steht in KEINEM Verhältnis zum Angebot, insbeondere, da man sonst im Hotel nichts unternehmen kann. Das Frühstückpersonal ist sehr unfreundlich und entspricht absolut nicht einem 5 Sterne Standard. Die Zimmer sind nicht sauber, insbesondere die Duschen im Bad sind verrostet, wie die u.s. Bilder verdeutlichen. Zudem habe ich juckende, rote Stellen an beiden Beinen bekommen, woher die stammen, kann ich natürlich nicht eindeutig sagen, aber irgendetwas muss mich in der Nacht gebissen haben.

Ótimas instalações mas wifi extremamente lento ( quando funicionava ), ar condicionado fraco e um cofre q nao funcionava ( falaram q iriam consertar mas ninguém apareceu ) pioram muito a minha nota.

Hotel muito bom!!

Hotel otimo,instalações perfeitas,muito bonito,mas equipe de atendimento muito fraca.Tivemos uma experiência péssima,pois estava tendo um casamento no hotel,e não nos deram atenção !!Um hotel 5 *,e nós carregando nossas malas e não podendo estacionar próximo do hotel! Se tem um evento,então não vendam para outros hóspedes.

Complex buiten Taranto. Lange oprit vanaf snelweg moet worden geasfalteerd en verlicht. Koele ontvangst bij receptie. Je moet zelf je koffers naar kamer brengen vanaf parkeerterrein. Kamers zijn ruim maar badkamer is aan kleine kant. Ontbijtbuffet is okay maar te weinig personeel en te weinig tafels. Helaas buiten te warm. Zwembad valt tegen door weinig echt goede relaxplekken en steekvliegen. Chillen bij zwembad moet op aparte plek. Prijs kwaliteit niet op orde.

Location stupenda, servizio too. Consigliatissimo!

Presenza incontrollata di api in piscina

Non è possibile stare tranquilli a bordo piscina . La zona piscina è tempestata di api che rendono il soggiorno davvero un incubo

Fantastische Location!

L' hotel ha bisogno di alcuni interventi di restauro, muri scrostati nella camere, ruggine sugli infissi delle finestre della Spa. La Spa è grande ma bisognerebbe aumentare la temperatura dell' acqua, specie per la piscina esterna e dell'ambiente in genreale. Inoltre credo sia molto meglio lasciare liberi gli ospiti di scegliere il tempo di permanenza per i vari trattameni del percorso. Il risotornate è buono ma non eccezionale rispetto ai prezzi del menù.

Eccezionale accoglienza e disponibilità e una guida, da parte della proprietà, a scoprire la storia della struttura, veramente splendida. La spa una parentesi di piacere a coronare una struttura d'eccellenza.

Albergo in campagna.

Albergo con prezzi 5 stelle ma con servizi non adeguati , ristorante con prodotti scadenti e tante pretese ma non in linea con la location .La mia è una delusione non per il posto ma per il rapporto prezzo qualità

Spa fantastica personale competente e gentile ottimo cibo bellissime e spaziose camere fiore all’occhiello il bagno.

Ristorante: qualità-prezzo Ottima ma porzioni-conto Eccessivo. Ti alzi da tavola un po' perplesso col dubbio di aver mangiato o meno.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is excellent with great food. I even got the possibility to get a look at the stunning SPA... I will be back! I love Puglia.

Nice hotel but...

The hotel in it's complexity is really nice. The rooms are clean and large. The breakfast buffet is really complete ( eggs, bread, donuts, fruit ecc.). 90% of the hotel staff is friendly and professional. For shame some details of maintenance should be reviewed. The whole atmosphere of this historical complex is really excellent and we will return.

Bella struttura

Struttura molto elegante, caretteristica e originale. Ottima ristrutturazione. Qualche pecca sulla piscina (sporca) e sul servizio (non a livello delle stelle assegnate). Camere enormi e ben arredate, colazione abbondante e variegata.

Fin anläggning med härlig poolområde och bra restaurang. Rummen når inte upp till 5 stjärnor, minibaren var varm, duschen kall och trasig slang, det saknades tekokare och ingen uppbäddningservice på kvällen. Så det saknades mycket som de påstår ska finnas när man bokar.

Hotel magnifique entouré d oliviers. Belle piscine. Grande chambre. Tres Bon petit dej. Tout le personnel est gentil, souriant, attentif. Seul bémol: l accueil... inexistant, froid, tres mal approprié surtout pur ce type d établissement!

Fica no campo, longe da cidade de Taranto, ,mas muito agradável

Ssehr schöne Anlage, schickes Design - wobei vor lauter Design auf den Zimmer die Zweckmäßigkeit vergessen wurde Z.B. Kleiderschränke viel zu klein - wir waren 2 Personen in der Kategorie Exklusiv-Zimmer - Aufenthalt 12 Tage und mussten einen Teil in unseren Koffern und Reisetaschen lassen - es war aber nicht so, dass wir übermäßig viel dabei hatten - vielleicht besser für kürzere Aufenthalte oder Geschäftsreisende. Auch etwas mehr Abwechslung beim Frühstück - immerhin 5 Sterne-Hotel - hätte uns gefreut. Aber ansonsten ein sehr schönes Hotel.

énorme déception!

A la lecture des autres avis, je me demande si nous avons été dans le même hôtel! Le Relais Histo est mal accessible, loin de Tarente et coincé entre deux routes en travaux, ce que la réception se garde bien de vous indiquer. Le SPA était fermé et, en compensation, l'hôtel nous proposait une "petite attention" que nous attendons encore. L'arrivée est pourtant sympathique, surtout de nuit: la pierre dure des bâtiments ressort merveilleusement, des oliviers, les grillons...l'accueil est sympathique et charmant..la chambre est superbe: immense lit et fabuleuse salle de bain (douche, cascade), les boissons (de l'eau) offertes. Au moment de respirer, patatras! le lit est en fait cassé, les lattes retenues par du chatterton!! La réception nous envoie la gouvernante qui nous recase.........dans une chambre bien plus petite!!! adieu notre belle douche et notre cascade!! être déclassé sans une excuse, quel dommage! de retour du restaurant, voila le pire: aucune insonorisation!! des ronflements du voisin à la télévision de la voisine, tout s'entend! De plus, les sols sont en dalles, superbes mais génératrices de bruit le matin (les femmes de ménage et les chariots....clac clac clac...)! Le petit déjeuner, certes copieux mais sans relief ne va pas nous aider à changer notre sentiment!! Pour ce prix, l'hôtel n'est pas du tout à la hauteur!!!!!!!! essayez plutôt un établissement chic dans le centre de Tarente, qui vaut le coup d'être vu!
