Lovely stay in a great location
Very nice boutique hotel. Room was in a quiet area. It was part of an adjoining room and in the morning we could hear a bit of noise from the other room. Enjoyed our stay in very comfortable room with great kitchen facilities
Clean smart motel
Nice motel. Had to carry our bags up to the first floor balcony. Nice outside pool with sun loungers and towels. Well decorated and smart with lovely shower.
Pretty, but there were stains on the white chairs and a very slow moving drain. Didn't do anything about the drain because I was only there for one night. Very conveniently located to eat street. If they were to make sure the chairs were cleaned and fixed the draining, I would stay again, otherwise not.
A nice hotel close to restaurants bars and a good base for exploring Rotarua and its attractions.
Nice gem of a place near the lake, shopping and eating options,
Regents was in a good location. Easy walk to many dining facilities. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good value for cost even if a little higher than many competing properties. Rooms were large and comfortable . We faced the pool and it was very quiet. Having a coffee maker vs instant coffee is an upgrade that should be implemented
Close to town, beautiful boutique accommodation, stayed many times, will stay again.
Good place to stay. Good dining options. One drawback is that there is no Lift. We had to carry all our luggage through Steps.
A very lovely hotel with clean and comfortable rooms and a mini-split for easily controlled room temps. Very walkable to everything in town. On site amenities including the bar, restaurant, pool, etc. were a nice bonus. The Eat Streat area next door has everything you could want to drink or eat withing a few steps. One of our favorite hotels from our entire stay in New Zealand.
Is a unique property, very bling! Returned because we loved it. The lovely suite we had this time (no.36) was extremely noisy late into the night .... next door to bar with thumping music. Disappointing. Perhaps guests should be told in advance if they are given this room.
Beautiful and huge room. Great breakfast
Rotorua is a small town whose main attractions is it geothermal sites. And staying at Regent is good for food option and nearby Kuirau Park.
Great for our family stay. Fun having a warm pool and perfect location to walk to eat street and the lake. Parking is available but limited but street options too. Room was lovely and staff friendly. Would stay again.
Comfortable hotel and appreciated the cleanliness and little features within our room. The hotel is close to highly rated restaurants, which made the stay very convenient.
Not enough parking. And our shower grout was covered in mold.
It was a good stay
Loved it all except for the long stairwell to carry our luggage.
It was a good overnight stay and the degustation dinner was lovely, although staff very much went on auto pilot in their description of course, no real passion or knowledge shown but no complains on food, great chef.. Not great to have such a small car park for so many rooms, not happy to park on the road even if it is free. The room seems really lovely at 1st but actually it was a little tired - cracked tile around basin in bathroom, chips on furniture. I would have expected it to be top notch condition. Shower - OK but again not great, everywhere got soaking wet. Bed was lovely and room spacious with good robe
Wasnt impressed when entering the room, you could see rubbish and hair on the carpet. The room needs to be thoroughly vacuum. Could see bit of rubbish under the bed side table and chairs. There was a small window that was missing a curtain so couldn't leave the drapes opened or people could have a partial view of inside the room.
Great location, many dining options within 5mins walk from hotel. Lakeside broad walk is also within 5mins walk.
Had a very nice and comfortable stay here. The room was lovely. Walking distance to lots of restaurants.
Regent of Vegas
Always enjoyed staying and Regent of Rotorua rooms in the new wing are very nice Staff always very friendly and helpful Very central location, car parking can be limited best to get one early
Parking is bit tight but otherwise a great place.
Some nice employees. 3 spiders webs ( and a big spider, I have photos and one video) above my bed and in bathroom.
A really central stay which is quiet and comfortable, and handy to my gym. My go to when in town on business
Excellent Accommodation and would recommend
Once checked in the receptionist walked me to my room and let me know how to access the pool, which was a lovely touch. The room was large and had sky tv. The only thing was it was abit noisy from the noise from the bars a few doors down but that was due to staying over the weekend and really shouldn't complain as the location was about a minute walk to eat street and all tourist spots.l
Fantastic location 50 ft from eat street and the main turist street in the quiet side of downtown. Great room (2 room suite) if you travel with family.
Top notch
Absolutely top notch! Could not fault anything. Perfect location, friendly staff. Would definitely stay again
Helpful stay comfortable room
June 24
Excellent stay as always Warm and helpful staff Heat pump in room playing up and moved to new room promptly Superb food See you next time !
The Regent is really well located for an evening out in the many nearby restaurants. It still feels relatively new and well looked after. We have stayed before and really enjoyed it, however, this time there were a couple of disappointments. The mineral pool was advertised as being open from 9am so I had planned a dip before having to head away around 10.30am. When I noticed it was still closed at 9am I was told that it was only half full and not ready until 10am. Unfortunately, this did not leave me enough time to use it. Bit frustrating because it seemed like bad planning on a busy holiday weekend. Super important to manage guest expectations - and the mineral pool was definitely one of the draw cards for deciding to book this hotel. It seems that the importance of these features to guests has been overlooked. The other disappointment is the lack of parking now that their large dedicated parking space has been taken up by a new accommodation block. We had to park just outside on the street - not a major given parking was free over the weekend, but another unexpected. One final minor annoyance is the fact that the housekeeping station was next door to our room and in the morning the housekeepers had positioned their trolley outside our window and were chatting - a bit disruptive when trying to have a lie-in. Having said all of this, the hotel still has plenty of good points, including, comfy beds, good check-in and out experience, so would consider staying again.
The hotel is a uniquely decorated boutique hotel. It was about a 10 minute walk from the tourist info bldg. and a quick walk to the food alley and the waterfront promenade. We were allocated a very spacious suite on ground level in the bdlg. close to the hotel entrance. However, the room had its drawbacks. The TV is located too far from the beds for easy viewing ... we assume the designers assumed people would sit on the sofa to watch . Our room had a locked connecting door to an adjacent room . The door was beside our bathroom and in the area where there was a mini kitchen. However, we could hear the smallest of sounds through the door and we assume the guest on the other side could hear us too. Our room was located right beside the entrance to this wing. The door was left standing wide open and unsecured in the daytime, leaving us feel a little vulnerable as people could conceivably wander in from the street as it was not being watched from the front desk. At night, the door was closed and patrons needed to use their room key to access the entry. However, it was noisy for us hearing people enter and slam the entry door right beside us. Another drawback to our room was that the blinds needed to be kept closed at all times. We did have a patio right outside our sliding doors, but beyond that was the street where passerbys could look in. We did sit by the pool one morning. It was a lovely little setting. We did eat breakfast off the menu in the restaurant .
Room 19 Mattress had more bumps and lumps than the Himalayas - not easy to sleep on Won't be back
Exceptional - 11/10!
Our favourite accommodation in NZ. A beautiful hotel with just the best location. A minute’s walk to Eat Street and just a few more to the CBD and other attractions around town. We had a lovely room with a private courtyard, the bed and pillows were super comfy and it was all very clean. The bathroom was great - large shower with good water pressure and double vanity basins and mirrors. Wonderful smelling toiletries and they even provided toothbrushes. The weekend staff were very helpful and friendly. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Great place
A Total Disappointment.
We booked this hotel after reading that it had a rating of 9.4, but we’re sooo disappointed. Nothing about this hotel warranted it’s description as luxury. We booked a 2 bdrm apartment but there was barely enough room for 2 in the sitting room. There were holes in the walls, lights didn’t work, the wood of bathroom sink was swollen from water. The ‘patio’ was two plastic chairs under the outdoor staircase, honestly I thought I was staying in a dingy student flat. The house keeper we met was super friendly, but front office staff gave no eye contact, didn’t asked if we enjoyed our stay and dismissed me with a ‘you’re good to go’. Whatever you do, don’t let them check you in to Room 9. It’s just not good enough.
No longer have much onsite parking but otherwise a lovely property.
Best hotel of we have stayed in, in NewZealand
Two nights and it couldn't have been a better stop over. The hotel is very well presented with lovely rooms, swimming pool (warm) and mineral pool (hot) which you can reserve for your own use. Minutes walk to lots of places to eat but we had breakfast in both mornings as so good. The staff could not be better. When we spoke to any staff or asked for help/advice they went out of their way to be helpful. Only downside is parking but is not a show stopper as lots of free parking on the top road, a minutes walk away, is available if needed. Check-in and out was quick and smooth.
Was expecting to love this place based on some of its previous reviews but just didn't. Room was hot and stuffy and you couldn't leave the windows open due to seasonal flies (this per hotel) and yet the ac was very poor. Restaurant was also a let down - with all their awards I was expecting something special but just wasn't.
Nice and modern walkable to stores and foods Very centralized Strongly recommended
Quite, close to many restaurants
Beautiful hotel in beautiful town.
Regent of Rotorua is a very beautiful hotel located at Rotorua city center. Staff members were really friendly and helpful. The hotel room is very spacious, conformable and beautiful. We enjoyed the private swimming pool with mineral water and delicious breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
Room is very spacious. Only complaint is the noise from nearby restaurants but it stops at midnight.
The property is in a good location with a lot of restaurants close by. The property is safe and staff is very helpful. Rooms are of decent size and very clean. The breakfast is decent. Wifi is a little temperamental.
Courteous, helpful and friendlt staff. Particularly Vivian was pleasant and eager to help people with a smile. Good value and outstanding location.
Very easy acccess to Eat Streat
Convenient location, attentive and helpful staff, clean. Reception/lobby and rooms give a sense of luxury. Overall, a pleasant experience.
Good location
I loved this place, very comfortable, big rooms, amazing pool, the best staff, super safe!
Rooms are elegant and spacious, very comfortable bed, great amenities, staff are warm and helpful. Very good breakfast menu. Right next to Eat Street for convenient dining outside the hotel restaurant.
Staff friendly and helpful. Very walkable.
Clean, cozy overall a great place. If you are driving parking is limited
Customer service was great! Clean and comfortable!
Great location and updated hotel in Rotorua
Nicely updated hotel with comfortable rooms and a fantastic location near "Eat Street" where you can find any kind of cuisine you are in the mood for. There is plenty of parking on the premises and on the street since you will have a car to visit the geothermal sights in the area.
Loved it
Middle of the road
Staff checked us in Staff checked us out Rooms look great Excellent location The guy who took our bags to our room was the only redeemable person in the whole place. Noisy and being near the stairs meant people hung out chatting by our room - 6.15 am !!! Room was clean Did I say that? One coffee sachet for a room with two people!!! Just being picky now as it had a cafetière which is pretty good. Do reserve a table at Poco, an excellent tapas place in town Just ok but probably good deal for the money
This would be a normal 3 Star hotel (think Springhill, Garden Inn, but no gym and smaller). But there is no world that this is a 5 Star hotel. There are no special amenities, breakfast is ehh and extra, somewhat noisy halls, and outside of check in, we did not receive any service. The person who checked us in was polite, but that was it. The bathrooms are small, 1 small window in a corner of the small room. Again, it is not a bad hotel, but it is a bad “5 Star” hotel. There are better options, and this should really be re-rated To somehow be rated a 5 Star hotel (like a Waldorf, Ritz, etc) is inane. There was not enough hotel parking, there is no valet. And we were told we would have to park on the street and then move my 9 am to avoid ticketing
Room was spacious, neat & tidy. Well situated around shops and dining .
Awesome place
Great location
It’s got a very good location Friendly staff Parking was easy Felt like a very safe area
If you travel to Rotorua (and you should go to Rotorua), this is THE HOTEL to stay in. The rooms are large, beautifully decorated and clean. I cannot say enough about the staff. They were helpful, intuitive, energetic, and kind. The pool is like a beautiful oasis and the mineral pool is a perfect way to soak your stress away. YES! Two pools!! The restaurant on site is beautiful. Parking is available. They are a short walk to the Government Gardens, the gorgeous lakefront, and you can't get much closer to Eat Street. This hotel is a true gem.
Average stay
We were looking forward to our stay but it was a bit of a disappointment. We booked a boutique suite and were given a room right next to construction site with concrete cutting going on and dust flying about. The room was ok, a bit damp and dark, the best thing was the bathroom with a lovely tub. The bed was quite small. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location is good, close to everything.
The best hotel in Rotorua
Very modern and clean hotel/apartment fit for Kings and Queens. We stayed a 2-bedrm apartment. Centrally located in Rotorau, just 1 min walk to Eat Streat, super convenient.
Right beside Eat Street, walkable to the park along Rotorua lake.
Walkable, lots of restaurants nearby and a very cool one at that called Eat Streats. Also a big, beautiful kids park walking distance next to the lake. Parking was very tight.
Nice place
Clean, comfortable room close to shops and dining
Have stayed many times now & is always a lovely stay. Staff were great & helpful. Was disappointed there is no longer the large carpark only the small one, that was one of the reasons we love it as we don’t want to park on the street. Noticed a few things in our room were looking a bit run down & there was mould on our curtains but everything else was great comfy beds, clean linen, quiet, great location. We’ll be back again I’m sure
staffs are excellent and amenities are perfect
Front desk/ reception staff extremely helpful
Location was very close to restaurants
Great hotel, but the WiFi needs an update.
Room, view was very nice, good size room, sky tv was a pleasant surprise. Clean, good bed, laundry and ice were convenient
Room size was excellent. Beds are very comfortable.
The location was excellent and parking was easy, but there is currently lots of construction happening at the property which meant we couldn’t use the mineral pool etc. Will be good once it’s finished.
Easy place to stay and super convenient. Spacious room and nice-looking facilities.
We had a lovely stay at Regent of Rotorua. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. Also in a great location within short walking distance to Eat Street. There was construction happening at the time we stayed but it wasn't too noisy. Also some tea towels in the room would be fantastic.
We made full use of the natural spring mineral pool and even went for a swim in the heated pool during our winter visit.
The pub next door is very noisy and heavy on the base until 1.20am on a Sunday morning, otherwise great stay.
Charming Botique Hotel
Very charming and glamorous Botique hotel. Short walk to Eat Street- like a minute. Quiet. Clean. Very luxurious robe- the softest and most plush hotel robe. Love that the shower valve is at the end of the shower room. So yo can open the shower without getting wet. Has a microwave, ref, plates, utensils, coffee, kettle, hairdryer, safe. Love the alarm clock/phone charger by the bedside. TV is just a normal TV, not smart TV. Lovely decor. Exceptionally warm service from staff.
A bit noisy on the weekends. Need better sound proving. Overall a pleasant stay
Excellent Hotel!
Great hotel close to restaurants and the harbor. Friendly efficient staff. Would definitely recommend if staying in Rotorua.
The property was perfect for us. It was close to the city centre. The room was really nice.
Super convenient for dining out and being walking distance to eat street etc. very comfortable bed. An awesome stay. Will return.
It’s been a few years between visits but still recommend a stay here . Clean tidy staff very friendly a pool outside the door is handy and the seating area outside is great too . The only negative was the pillows were cheap and thin as we found in the hotel we stayed at in Taupo this week too so I’m going to take my own with me in my future travels.
Excellent stay
No complimentary toothbrush or toothpaste
Close proximity to shops and Eat Street (probably closest hotel) has bar and restaurant facilities, heated pool and private spa available. Food ( breakfast) was good. Room cost was reasonable. Staff helpful and friendly.
False advertisement: Motel not Boutique Hotel
As everyone and their mom would tell you, this is a MOTEL, not a boutique hotel as advertised by HOTELS.COM. Like other motels, you park your car and walk up to your motel room which opens to the parking lot, either on the ground level or you walk up the stairs to your room on the second floor. I consider this false advertisement. It's HOTELS.com's responsibility to hold properties accountable and honest because when you book through them, it's their reputation.
Executive suite was great for families
We stayed in the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom Executive suite. That extra space and bathroom was fantastic for our family of 4. Hotel is very cute and well furnished. Rotorua is a small town so nothing is that far if you are driving. This location is right next to 'Eat Street' so great for fancy dinners. Note that things close pretty early on weekdays - so check closing times. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, but continental spread was offered. Looked like a sufficient breakfast - but nothing amazing.
Nice hotel to stay
This place is so clean!
Two day stay for funeral
Pretty good stay here. Staff were friendly. Facilities - nice foyer and restaurant, as well as bathroom decor in each of the rooms. Also there is a mineral pool at the hotel that can be booked for up to 4 people for 20mins at a time, which was also a good touch. The only thing I would suggest to warrant a 5-star rating, is that you regularly stock up the fridge with milk (this wasn't done).
Stayed 3 nights in a boutique suite and it was great to have the extra room. Area around hotel is safe to walk around with eat street and all its restaurants only 50m away.Make sure to use the thermal pool and outdoor heated pool.Hotel was spotlessly clean and well cared for.
Great location, easy check in and check out. Modern, clean and comfortable.
I love that the decor makes this property unique and the pool and dining are lovely. Great location and room was ideal. Will definable book again.
Great location, spotlessly clean hotel with very friendly, helpful staff
Excellent location, lovely clean room, good pool, great stay and would visit again
Great service and really lovely room and staff.
Great decor and very tidy. If the pools stayes open to 10 it would make it alot better not many people get to use the pools because they close so early
Regent of Rotorua | Hotel in Rotorua | Travala.com
Room was very nice, including robesn heated towel bar, upscale shower. Property had hot mineral pool and heated pool. Facility was in multiple buildings. It is near Eat Street with lots of restaurant options, but one open bar had loud music until midnight.
