This property was not clean inside or out. There was trash leading around the stairs leading to our second floor room. There were strange people hanging around the outside and a strong smell of marijuana around our room.

It was ok

We reserved the room in October 2024. We were there for a nationally advertised hockey game in Ohio Stadium. We arrived at 3:50 p.m. to check-in. The lobby was packed with people like us because the rooms with double beds were not yet cleaned. We were eventually given keys to the room at 5:15 p.m. It was still being cleaned. We almost missed the start of the game. We will never stay at another Red Roof Inn agsin@

Springs on mattress were broke in one area. Shower was clogged. The room needed some cleaning as well.

Total disrepair

Check in at the desk went well, beyond that the stay was awful. Got to the room and the toilet was clogged. Called down about it, wait about a half hour and a guy handed me a flimsy plunger and walked away. Doors are busted up, everything is stained, beds uncomfortable. Paying more than $200 one night is ridiculous.

Check in was 3. Couldn’t check in till 5 because no clean rooms. We missed our event.

We came into town for a quick stay and loved the location and cleanliness of our room! Would certainly stay here again!!

Close to university and walkable

My father was in the hospital at OSU and I needed the cheapest closest place. The outside is very old and out dated, inside was remodeled and very nice! Don't let the outside fool you! But.... It was loud at night. Constant traffic to rooms close by. Some rooms seemed to be occupied with people living there. Sketchy people in the parking lot. But no one bothered me, felt safe(ish) and the inside of the room was great!

Stayer beware

The TV didn’t work. On Friday we asked for a remote to be brought to us-that didn’t happen. On Saturday I went to the front desk and they gave me a remote. The remote didn’t work-they said they would send maintenance-they never showed. There was no shampoo or conditioner or Kleenex in the room. Only one washcloth. The heater made a clicking sound all night long that was loud enough to keep me awake.

Great service and a decent room for the price, extremely close to campus - if this is the general category of accommodations you're considering, and most of us in the real world inhabit this bracket, then you'll be satisfied with staying here, no nasty surprises or complaints, and staff friendliness was a bonus. Its not the Ritz but its where I will be staying again next time I'm in town.

It was just okay. Called the front desk 3 times and never got anyone to answer. Internet was slow, I was in a room that you could hear the heater click every 10 - 12 seconds. The bolt on the door was broken.

Not dusted. Dust on all surfaces. Uncomfortable beds and pillows. Butn marks in desk. Not fridges or microwave. The "plus" part if this hotel is the tvs. That is what front desk said to us. I would nkt recommended this hotel.

Unhappy canper

Could not checkin when I first arrived waited for over 30 minutes for someone to get to front desk. Then they put me in a room with a broken tv then in a room they needed to pay more attention to detail when cleaning

It went great

Had to ask for towels in office. Amenities were not as advertised. Password to WiFi did not work.

The TV did not work and we asked for someone to fix it 3 times but no one ever came. We took a note to the cleaning staff with a tip to ask for extra towels and coffee and no one brought it. We even left our room # on the note. Each time we told the clerk at the desk about our TV she said " oh yes, we will send someone" but no one came.

Comfortable place

The location of the hotel seemed to be a nice area. The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. I didnt realize the standard king dosent come with a microwave or refrigerator, so that kinda sucked. Room service only came when you asked for it. My entire experience was pretty good.

They didn't have standard heating system. Took room all day to warm up, by evening it was too hot. Cold in the morning and hot at night. It was very cold outside though. Other than that it was nice.

Nice

There was only 2 towels for 3 people and no conditioner in the shower. The bathtub had red stains all over. The blankets had holes in them and there where stinkbugs on the ceiling. Lastly the fridge was not cold at all. The drinks that were left out of the fridge were colder than the ones in the fridge.

The bed looked like it was slept on and the sheets just smoothed out. The smoke.alarm kept going off for the whole hotel almost all night so i didnt get any sleep at all.

In town for The Game

Not sure what the extra amenities were, we got the upgraded bedding & snack rooms. Decaf coffee, mini-fridge & microwave. Bedding didn’t seem upgraded beyond simple hotel sheets, blankets, & pillows. Room was clean but a number of spots in the room could use repaired and repainted. Overall though a satisfactory stay, will probably stay again.

Nasty hotel.

So dirty. Mold coming down from the walls. Nobody came and brought us clean towels. We had to go get our own toilet paper. It was the worst hotel I’ve we’ve stayed in.

Good stay

It was a fun stay. The Red Roof inn is very close to Ohio Stadium. This is the reason we picked it. It is basically a 2 star hotel if that. The staff was kinda friendly. Room was clean, but in need of a huge makeover.

Not the nicest hotel but it served my purpose. It was an easy 30 min walk to the OSU stadium and there were a few food choices right across the road.

Suitable-Upcharged?

This was our second time staying here. Disappointed that it cost $60.00 more than booking price online. I realize that fee and taxes are added but that was too much. Otherwise it was suitable.

Solid place for the price and location

-I got charged a $50 deposit for booking with Travelocity. -Parking area small and not ver well lit -too is small and cramped

1) Door lock didnt work and couldnt be fixed, had to change rooms; 2) 2nd room, the AC unit didnt work; 3) 3rd room, the springs in the one bed were very bad, the hair dryer was broken and I had to use one in a different room. 3 different rooms for a 2 night stay. Never again!!

Front desk was very nice and helpful. Rooms were small, and also the only motel I've ever stayed at that didn't have a microwave or mini fridge. Location was very convenient, walking distance from Scottenstein center and a Sunoco multiple food establishments neighboring the building.

OK for a guy / friend stay if you are going to a game maybe. Not modern, comfortable or any amenities.

My door lock was broke, lights flickered and dirt on the sheets as well as trash under the bed. I left and did not receive a refund.

Mold and uncomfortable beds

People were friendly, but room was gross. Mold on ceiling of bathroom. Shower curtain wouldn’t close so water got everywhere on the floor and walls outside shower. Beds were very uncomfortable with springs making noise when you moved. Paid almost $300 per night for this.

Good room and close to all The Ohio State Univeristy home games.

Our room's phone didn't work. Nor did the TV. They had to switch us to a different room. The first room had a TV and a microwave. The second room did not have either. The toilet seat was broken. The staff for the most part only spoke Spanish. It made it difficult to communicate. We would not recommend this Red Roof. We won't be returning.

No WASHCLOTHS THE ENTIRE WEEKEND

First thing I noticed when I went into the room was that the bedding was dirty. I tried calling down to the front desk, three times and none of the calls would go through. I flagged down a housekeeper and was about to give her all the old bedding and asked for just a new blanket and I received one with a massive hole in it. The lights made sounds when turned on, and if you use the heater, prepare for the room to smell like it’s burning. Even though there was a sign that said don’t smoke outside my room, multiple times I would see people through my window smoking with the smell drifting into my room. The door did not fully close into the frame and you hear every single bit of noise coming from outside the room to the parking lot. Often times there would be people screaming at 2 and 4 am and I was not able to sleep the two nights I was there. The towels had stains and one of the wash rags looked like it hadn’t been washed. The bathroom ceiling had black mold and there were numerous bugs I found in my room. I would never stay at a red roof again, this was truly a horrible experience. I’ve been itchy since I left and I hope I didn’t get bed bugs to continue this nightmare stay.

After picking up my key to my room. On the corridor were 2 women and a man sitting right on my path to my room on the corridor drinking and doing their own thing. The room itself is small. The bath is the smallest I have seen in any hotel room. The place is more of a motel than a hotel. No breakfast service and the place is full of people I can't describe. I didn't feel comfortable a bit until I checked out the following day. Very terrible place. I will never recommend this to anyone except if you are on a very tight budget you can't find any alternative.

Columbus Trip

I had an amazing time! The check-in and check-out processes were efficient. However, my room had a few issues. Some outlets didn't work properly, and my plug would fall out. Additionally, some items in the room need maintenance, such as a bent lamp and torn wallpaper. I received only one regular coffee instead of two, and the TV setup was confusing. On the positive side, the hotel is in an excellent location and provides good value for the price. And the bed was super comfy. I did encounter a problem with my key, but the front desk promptly addressed it. Would recommend staying here when visiting Columbus!

Standard room for good price

Room and stay was standard for what I needed. I will say our initial room was not acceptable but the manager did not hesitate to move us to a better room and thanked me for pointing out the issue.

Staff was very nice. Beds not so comfortable. The sink leaked all night and dripped.

Safe and coffee maker broken. Next morning, lobby coffee and water cold. Had to ask for boxed snacks that I payed for with room. Walls and ceilings poorly repaired.

The big positive about this property is it is within walking distance to the buckeyes football games and has a fridge. Other than that, there’s not much to speak about. The rooms are outdated and dirty. Room stunk of funk when we arrived. Had to ask for towels and toilet paper. Bed sheet was dirty. Bed blanket had a cigarette hole burnt in it. This was our second time staying here, the first time I figured it was a fluke, nope, second time was worse. It’s definitely a run down property for a red roof inn plus. But I’m sure they know people will stay there for the ease of walking distance to the games and campus. We had 2 rooms, someone knocked on the room doors at like 3am the first night.

We had to go buy our own toilet paper! They gave us 1 back up and the 1/4 roll that was on the holder. 4 adults. We asked for more and they said they’re out…. Seriously?!

Not the greatest place to stay. Found some black bugs on the floor.

The location is excellent, easy acces to OSU and freeways. The hotel needs updating. Lights were burnt out, air conditioning was poor, flooring was old.

Reserved 2 queens and was given a single king and told “there’s nothing we can do”. The toilet was leaking, the room smelled terrible.

Would not recommend

Tv did not work in our first room, changed rooms, tv did work but it was dirty & the air conditioning barely worked. It was very hot & uncomfortable to sleep. No one cleaned our room in between nights & I had to ask for clean towels.

It's ok.

Check in was easy the guy was nice but the girls he was working with seemed difficult to give him answers. Room was clean, but whatever they clean with is very powerful smelling with a musk scent, wasn't a fan of that. It's an outdoor hotel so people and cars outside can be noisy if that bothers you. This bed was very broke down on one side but still comfortable enough. We only stayed one night during the week so parking was fine..area was okay plenty to eat. I'd stay again if I had to come back and just need to sleep, if I was spending more than a night I might look for something else.

Upon check-in, there was a sign on the door that said the attendant was away and will be back in 10 minutes, this turned out not to be true. A line was formed outside waiting for check in. I understand people need breaks but I even tried calling to let them know there was a line but no one picked up. When we got to the room I discovered that in our ice bucket there was discarded single use contact lense wrappers, as well as a used towel from the last guest; meaning I’m not sure how thoroughly the rest of the room was actually cleaned. There were also holes in the bathroom wall and door. Having said that, it was a good location and certainly not the worst experience I’ve had in a hotel by any means.

Came for an OSU game, great location. The front desk was fast and efficient. After reading previous reviews I was hesitant but our room was very clean.

We arrived with a confirmation number and they said no rooms available. We had to travel 20 minutes, then pay for Uber to game. Never book with Red Roof or Expedia (no room guarantee) and already paid in full!

Good for a cheap one night stay.

TV did not work, called came up but never retired. Ask at desk about a discount because of it Was told could not because of the booking thur another ,will not do a separate booking agent again !!! Great lost.

It was a nice stay. Had a few issues with mold in the bathroom, the linens were stained and the carpet was wet in a few spots.

too expensive for the old and untidy place. With this price one could get a 4 star hotel and I was expecting to have something cleaner. In the past I stayed in a much better and clean hotel with half price in columbus.
