Everything was great for an older style hotel, except the bathroom needs to be renovated. Bathroom sink was draining slowly and shower looks very old, with some molding. Service was excellent and breakfast was great.
Awesome experience!
excellent location, quite hotel, very nice and clean. very helpful and professional staff, nice breakfast, restaurant menu is also nice.
Would highly recommend the Ratilanna. Great property, andal.ost completely repaired after a 50-year flood event! Incredible accomplishment! Super well-trained staff, very good food, huge menu, pool service, Riverside, awesome spa! 6-star property!
Good
one of the best hotels i’ve ever visited
amazing ! one of the best hotels i’ve ever visited. smelled good, people were nice. everything except a little bit strict. but they were super good
Swim up bar was awesome!
Good place with nice staff
This is a perfectly decent resort. I had a room on the second floor that overlook what they call a garden. Because of the location, the room did not get much light. It's hard to give a place a high recommendation when outside it's sunny, but you always require lights on in your room. The resort is on the river but, to be clear, the river is murky and not particularly beautiful. I chose breakfast with my package, and it was acceptable but nothing to write home about. The hotel has wood floors and a lot of other wood features. The challenge with such decor is that it is dated after a decade or so, and there is nothing you can do about that. So, aesthetically speaking, the hotel was probably a stellar-looking property in 2010. That said, the staff are lovely and super helpful.
Beautiful property. Rooms, lobby and common areas are absolutely beautiful
Classy and professional service
The Spa services was excellent and also the breakfast.
Great property food service was first rate zero complaints. They did everything well. It was not the least expensive by far but still managed to deliver value.
Great location, beautiful decor and spacious rooms! The staff was absolutely amazing; polite, good conversation and always helpful. It is family friendly with calming atmosphere, so I would not consider this hotel a place to party. We scheduled a couple of adventures through the hotel concierge and it definitely saved us time and planning. I would highly recommend if you’re looking for an upper scale relaxing place to come back to after a day of exploring Chiang Mai.
Ratilanna is a beautiful hotel with luxurious amenities!
Beautiful hotel with great service. My room on the 4th floor was huge and lovely. The room was very quiet and I enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the evenings listening to the live piano music from the restaurant below. My only disappointment was the neighborhood was not walkable. No sidewalks and very narrow streets but easy to take a taxi.
Staff
Up grade
Room was spacious but front desk and reception was not helpful and misguiding, i will come to chiang mai but will not stay in this property, ever...
Very nice hotel.
Brilliant hotel
Beautiful hotel and faculties, great pool area and room, great staff, very friendly and helpful
Great staff but not the comfortable stay expected.
The staff are friendly and helpful. but we are sorry to say that this hotel did not meet our expectations for a resort and spa - we noted many areas for improvement. The lobby is cheerful and bright however our room on the top floor was quite dark and the bathroom dated. The hotel elevator was very slow. The pool was in a nice setting by the river but the deck and carpets are weathered and worn. Breakfast was mediocre but also in a nice setting at least. The gym was dark and musty and on the warm side and there were no sanitizing wipes to clean equipment. There is a lot of traffic noise into the late hours and it was not a peaceful stay. Overall we did not find this accommodation was good value for the money compared to our 5 other short term stays in Thailand.
Beautiful property. Excellent and helpful staff.
One of the most beautiful resorts we've stayed in. Huge clean rooms with gorgeous wood working. The service was impeccable and staff went out of their way to assist with our queries. The food was also delicious and the spa treatments were fabulous. The best part (for me anyway) was the big, kitted out gym. The perfect place to unwind and we loved it so much, we extended our stay. I miss the resort already.
This resort is fabulous. The executive suite is very spacious and beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating.
More like a 3 stars hotel
Don’t expect it to be a 5 star hotel. This is more like a very good 3 stars. The lady at the reception was quite rude and kept laughing at her colleague jokes in Thai and never looked at us or said a single word it was quite a strange behaviour since we were quite friendly to her and trying to talk.
The suite is perfect with very beautiful glass wall overseeing the Ping River. The room design is perfect
We have a wonderful experience stay in RatiLanna, staff are helpful and kindness, we stay at an executive suite with well equipped, room is large and balcony‘a view is great Breakfast is perfect and have many kind of choice Swimming pool is almost bigger than others in Chiang Mai, the price for ordering room service food is reasonable
Beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Service excellent. However the hot and cold shower needs an upgrade.
Great hotel
Great hotel . Overall service great. Little far from the city.
It was nice to sit around the pool in the afternoon . It was a little to far from the city center. We did use the free shuttle into the night markets at night.
Quiet, beautiful hotel
Beautiful hotel with stunning design. Unfortunately, there were some minor issues with room maintenance, such as the closet doors not opening and closing smoothly, and a lampshade was broken. Otherwise, the room was lovely with a huge bed, and had a nice view overlooking the pool and river area. Breakfast was good, with gluten-free bread provided. The options for vegetarians were largely limited to fruit and bread, as nearly all of the cooked dishes contained pork, chicken, or seafood. The coffee was EXCELLENT. Mosquitoes are fierce in the early evening, so best to stay inside at that time. The hotel is currently undergoing some construction, but the noise was not at all bothersome in the room. Service was good, staff very professional and helpful.
Great view, amazing restaurant staff. Had a bit of difficulty checking in but other than that it was good.
The upkeep of Rati Lanna hotel is superb. Great customer service and will definitely return in future.
The decoration was nice the wood flooring is so nice the breakfast area view was spectacular the staff was friendly especially helpful from concierge staff arranging transfer and tour for us the only thing is the air conditioning was noisy at night temperature adjustment could not be done
Amazing hospitality & a comfort resort.
I left the important documents in the room and the staff followed up to send it by EMS accordingly. Great staff, great services, great facilities. Loved it very much!
Staffs are friendly
The hotel location is ok. About 10mins to Chiang Mai International Airport. Several hot spots just near by (must take taxi). Only 1 coffee shop near by in walkin distance. For other places, need to take taxi. The hotel is quit old, only one reason restaurant available. Breakfast not too much choice. Staffs are friendly and helpful.
Loved the live piano music in the dining area. Incredible!
Requied for what? Minimum of fifty characters ....
The reception staff was not professional. When I checked out I was asked whether I had consumed any charged food/drinks. I said no but the staff still requested me to await 5 minutes to allow their staff upstairs to do the room checking. In my travel experience for more than 20 years, it was the first time I was requested not to leave the hotel (5-min waiting time) until the staff finished checking that I did not consume anything in the mini bar. The amenities provided in the room were insufficient: shaver was provided only upon requested; no hair conditioner available as the staff explained the shampoo provided was with conditioning (2in1); teabags weren’t refilled on the last day I stayed.
Quality service and hospitality
Booked a night here for my parents' anniversary. They absolutely loved it. They said the staff were very friendly and the room had even been decorated with roses and a happy anniversary cheesecake! Excellent service. Thank you!
Beautiful, quiet space. Staff very accommodating. Short walk from some great local bars with live music.
Phenomenal place to stay.
Phenomenal hotel. Best I have ever stayed at. Absolutely gorgeous, excellent spa, fabulous service, great food. The Wi-Fi was not the best but I would not let that stop me from staying. It worked, just not super fast and occasionally disconnected. Very close to night bazar.
Very romantic setting and rooms. Service was superb. We were there when it was relatively off-season and it was not crowded. Food was excellent.
This hotel has an excellent river view, great service and spacious room. Price is very attractive. Good for quick getaway. Breakfast selection needs some improvement. No other complaint. Overall, great experience with this stay.
the balcony area is soooooo comfortable. the room is clean and food is nice. there is also a hip cafe next to the hotel where you can chill after a day visit.
A nice boutique resort on the riverbank! Nestled along the banks of the Mae Ping River, the resort captures the essence of the destination's Lanna ancestry that subtly appears in its architecture and interior decor, only minutes from the airport and the city's popular night bazaar offering the ultimate indulgence of a five-star urban sanctuary.
The staff were wonderful, always friendly, solicitous, helpful and greeted every contact with a beautiful genuine smile and "swadikap" ! This is especially true of the wonderful team on the Terrace and breakfast room. Nothing was too much trouble, we arrived very early, arrangements were put in place to ready our room as soon as practicable, and we were sought out in the dining room and escorted to our "palace" overlooking the pool and river, with politeness and genuine pleasure once ready ! ...and, my god ! what a delightful suite of rooms ! Particularly the mini waterfall (kid you not !) next to jacuzzi bath ! Food delicious, especially breakfasts and excellent "barbeque beef" (to die for) ! Might like to look at the range of offerings at breakfast... Alcohol prices too. Concierge service superb ! Wonderful stay !
Staff was excellent! Room was comfortable and very clean. Early evening someone goes around asking if you need replenishment of any items.
Serenity
Peaceful oasis in middle of busy city.
All well - almost - except the capacity of the WLAN !
It was like any other hotel. Nothing special.
No such exciting experience. It was "cold" atmosphere and lacked the "warmth".
Decent place to stay, but not convenient
The hotel is nice, no doubt about it.... it is definitely western prices, across the board. Not inexpensive. I wouldn't call this place a luxury hotel or 5 star (which I think they call themselves). There were some things that were just "off". There isn't much around the hotel. It's kinda an all inclusive type vibe... once you're on the property it isn't easy to walk out the door and explore. Just not much around that part of town. We much preferred staying in the old town, where walking around is simply so much easier. From RatiLanna Riverside Hotel, it is fairly easy to get a tuk-tuk into the old town, which takes about 10-15 minutes. If we return to Chiang-Mai, we will definitely stay in the old town... it's just so much easier.
Family trip to Chiang Mai Bangkok
We, family of 3, stayed in RatiLanna 3 nights, excellent Hotel and excellent Staff. We had a good stay and and also good trip to Chiang Mai.
Laid Back Resort Style
RatiLanna was a great hotel for my wife and I on our honeymoon. We stayed 3 nights. We opted for the large suite style room which was huge, it was too big for the 2 of us. The room had a nice view overlooking the pool, a swing and day bed outside on the balcony. The price was a bit high for the room, but the hotel itself was great. It was very laid back and tranquil; they had some nice greenery and a few stocked ponds. We only ate the complimentary breakfast on the property which provided a good selection. We did utilize the pool and swim up bar. The staff was all very nice, it seemed that they had some new staff members, when I ordered a drink from the pool bar the guy working was unsure of how to make it and needed assistance from someone else who wasn't around immediately. No big deal, though. We booked a zipline adventure through the concierge desk from a recommended company. We also booked an elephant trek through the concierge desk as well, however, we decided to go with another company just based of some additional research on trip advisor. The location of the hotel wasn't super close to anything but we had no trouble walking 10 minutes down the road to an area with a few more restaurants. Right outside the hotel was a little market that sold some fruit, chips, beers, etc.. About 5 mins down the road was a little liquor store and about 10 mins was a 7/11. Tuk Tuk's were easily available all around as well. All in all, great stay and staff.
Perfect for honeymoons!
We loved our stay at Ratilanna! They made it incredibly easy to get around town and see the sites, but they went above and beyond for our honeymoon and surprised us with cheesecake, flowers, rose petals, and towel swans! I highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet, beautiful place to relax that isnt far from the city!
Outstanding
BEAUTIFUL placel, clean friendly staff.Loved tv in the bath and jaccuzi.
Mosquito Heaven
Hard to sit out after 6 pm and not be eaten alive by mosquitos because of River location. Rather far from Old Town 150-200 baht TukTuk ride. Room furniture very uncomfortable and ac in our unit blew directly over the bed giving us sore throats. Worst thing was 2 large weddings on consecutive nights that took over the outdoor areas and restaurant and bar leaving no place outside for hotel guests. We complained and got some small compensation but considering how much we were paying because it was Chinese New Year we were not impressed. In addition Chiang Mai was polluted because of burn off from farms and jammed with tourists. We wont go back.
Quiet location not far from city
Only concern, they did not remove dirty plates n garbage in the evening
Extraordinary experience
It was one of the best experience we had on holidays. We had in the past stayed all over the world but this place was unique not only because of its beauty and comforts but the way Asian hospitality was extended—usually missing in Wetern hotels. One do not buy goods and services when on holidays but seek warmth of place and place. This aspect of tourism industry we fully enjoyed here. It will remain memorable for us.
Boutique Hotel
Stayed here for 3 nights although a bit out of town close enough to get to each night. Good market. Great food in town. Rooms at hotel clean but a bit dark. Great view of pool and lake. Breakfast perfect to start the day. Overall excellent place to stay
Very nice hotel, a little outside of the city cent
Very pleasant stay, people extremely nice and supportive
Overpriced with a number of issues, still enjoyed
It is notoriously difficult to find good hotels in Chiang Mai. They're all either old or super expensive or poorly maintained or all of the above. This time I decided ok, this is a vacation, I'm getting one of the most expensive ones. And honestly, it was one of the best hotels I stayed in Chiang Mai. However they have a number of serious issues. 1. The sewage SMELL in the bathroom, oh my god, this is a Thailand problem that every other hotel has, but you'd hope an expensive hotel can get rid of it. No, it was there, present every day, occasionally disappearing, but mostly present. 2. The tap in the bathroom was such that you'd get water all over the place if you wash your hands or face or brush your teeth. They need to replace those, because it takes time to clean it up, so waste of time and resources on maids. 3. The hotel overall was not modern. It was mostly clean, no issues with that, but it's thai style, which isn't something I'd personally prefer. Don't get me wrong, it all looks very decent and I was mostly pleased with my room. But perhaps it's not perfect for everyone. The good parts: 1. Location. Not in the old town, but trust me, you don't want to stay in the old town. Better get an Uber. Also, it's 5 min to the airport, no traffic. 2. The pool is amazing. You better believe it. 3. The breakfast was ok, good selection. 4. Great balcony views facing the pool and the river. Verdict: overpriced, but still a good option for CM. Get rid of the bathroom smell!
Beautiful property away from the city.
The Ratilanna Hotel is beautiful. I booked a suite which was huge & amazing. Just a bit dark with all the dark wood & not enough lighting. I would give it a 4 star rating as it needs some maintenance & it just truely is not a 5 star hotel. The bathroom & shower has tile in the middle & cement surrounding. Not 5 star. As a solo traveler next time I would stay in the old city. There really is nothing going on at night. Except on the weekends they had 2 weddings so you couldn't even use the bar. It is however the perfect place to get away & relax & be quiet.
Charming and Lovely
We were 8 women in 4 rooms and we all loved this hotel. Absolutely charming staff--one and all. Beautiful hotel with tons of charm. Rooms overlooking the pool were spacious, decorated in a lovely way, spotless, with great beds and pillows. Bathrooms had every amenity including a huge tub with a fountain behind it as well as a separate shower. Mentioned sink not draining, went out to dinner, returned to hotel and the problem was resolved.
Clean and nice oriental hotel
Very relaxing and pleasant stay, polite and accommodating staff. Nice pool and rooms
We visited for our honeymoon and it definitely wasn't the five star hotel we were looking for. The staff was friendly and the honeymoon touches were nice but the place is dated and not very clean. The are going through a renovation right now which would have been nice to know in advance.
Amazing service. Style and comfort
Nice stay
I stayed here only for one night but found it to be nice. Staff were helpful and cheerful and the hotel has lovely gardens and the environment is very peaceful and relaxing. Room was huge and nice, the wooden floor was a bit odd and as the room was so big it took ages for the air con to kick in but thats nothing major. Shower was nice and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was a nice small spread with a good variety and an egg station. Overall very nice. Wouldn't book the airport pick up as the chap was both in the wrong place and kicked my bags without any sort of care as to what was in them.
Little Oasis just out of town
This hotel was fantastic providing us everything we would look for at the price paid. The rooms were very good although it can be argued that the river is not that great an outlook. The pool is gorgeous and special thanks to "Geordie" (clearly not his real name) for looking after us at the swim up bar. The hotel is a little bit out of town but we used Uber for 50 baht (£1.20) each way so it doesn't blow the bank and it means you sleep well at night surrounded by tranquility. Our only minor moan was that the breakfast food could have been hotter, generally it was served only luke warm. The staff were very friendly, the surroundings were beautiful and we simply relaxed the whole time we were on site.
A Gem in Chiangmai
Ratilanna was gem of a hotel in Chiangmai. We spent 5 days there and the Concierge Desk was very helpful in assisting us with planning our activities. Especially delightful was having breakfast al fresco on the river banks but they could have had fans to circulate the air abit during warm mornings. Otherwise, the stay was close to perfect !
The most wonderful hotel and staff . perfect place to stay in Chiang Mai
A birthday celebration to remember ...
We chose the Ratilanna to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. As expected from a 5* hotel we received a warm and professional welcome but what we did not expect was the early check-in, the room upgrade for our friend to enable adjoining rooms and the exceptionally well presented birthday cake and fruit. Thank you to the staff for organising this. I booked a 2 hour spa package for my husband who said that it was the very best massage he has ever had. The grounds and salt water pool area were very well presented. The breakfast was outstanding. Thank to you for a memorable stay.
Hope you don't need to charge too many things!
The service was excellent. The fitness area was nice. The restaurant food and drinks were great. My issue was with the lack of wall sockets I needed to charge my cell phone, my portable phone charger, my husband's phone, my mini iPad, and the battery to my camera with only two visible wall sockets. The one socket in the bathroom would only work for electric shavers - not even a hair dryer! I had to dry my hair in the room and unplug something in order to do so. Also, the hallway outside the room and elevator should be air conditioned. I was a sweaty mess before even leaving the hotel. The elevator was VERY slow and had no A/C. I also was disappointed in the toiletries. Shampoo was horrible and no conditioner was offered. As far as the look of the hotel, it's lovely; however, the rooftops need cleaning/repairing. Every time I attempted to take a pic from our room balcony, the black, slimy rooftops were a major eyesore.
Too far away from the city, hard to get a taxi
When we want to get to the attactions, we have to wait for a long time before we can get a cab. Sometimes the red taxi driver even refuse to take us to our location or try to over charge us. Not at a convenient location for us.
Great choice for weekend getaway
Great hotel, excellent staff, and love the spa and services.
Nice hotel with traditional Thai Style structure
Very nice hotel with traditional Thai style structure, right on the river bank. Super nice staff. Hotel offers full service restaurant with live music. The only down side is it is a little further away from old city and night markets.
Ratilanna Retreat
Beautiful Hotel. Regal Thai decor so that you know and feel that you are actually in Thailand. Fabulous pool and spa. Great restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.
Not bad experience, but do need improvements
good experience
Great resort and vibe
Great place Well, if not perfectly maintained. Very helpful staff. Great location and amenities.
Stunning
Absolutely pleasant experience overall. Made Thailand very comfortable!
Excellent stay in Chiang Mai
Friendly staff! Excellent customer service! Beautiful room! Everything you need is just a stone throw away! What more could you ask for! Definitely the most beautiful stay greeted with many smiley and helpful staff!
Easy 5 star hotel. Without a doubt
We stayed at Rati Lanna for two night, three days. The food was amazing! The ambience was great. Live music at night. The staff was really helpful with everything. We did a couples massage and they were great. They gave us the best of all the massages we received in Thailand. The hotel staff were very proficient with their English which made it easy for us compared to other hotels we stayed at. They had a full sized gym which was probably better than any hotel gym I have seen including in the states which included a steam room. The only thing that we didn't like was the mosquitos at night. It was worse than other places but it's part of the experience when you stay in a beautiful place near the river.
Slightly disappointed ....
Lovely hotel but the service was sometimes poor. Plenty of staff but a lot just standing around and you literally had to wave your hands or go and fetch somebody to get service. There seemed little, or no supervision and a lot of trainees. The rai shower in the bathroom was appalling, more like a drip shower. They obviously hadn't cleaned them properly for a very long time and sometimes the smell in the bathroom from the drains was horrible. Plus wifi was really slow in bedrooms. Sorry to have to say these negatives but for the price one expects better!
Beautiful hotel, perfext stay
RatiLanna is a beautiful property with world class ameneities and facilities. It is located 10 minute TukTuk away from old town which was perfect for us as we wanted to start our Thailand trip with a bit more tranquility. RatiLanna provided that very well. Great breakfast in the morning, incredible gym and facilities, large, clean and comfortable room and washroom. We would highly recommend this hotel.
Decent hotel, location too far to walk places.
My experience wasn't terrible, but I found the room furniture not very comfortable and bathroom faucets not well designed (splashed water everywhere unless you set it on a low setting). Location is not close enough to city center to walk. Overall I feel not a good value for the money spent.
High end Chiang Mai Retreat
Wonderful rooms, service, and staff. Would highly recommend.
Great hotel not too close to old town so it's relaxing and quiet. Quick easy tuktuk and you can be in the center of everything.
Wonderful hotel
Perfect location! Great food at hotel both breckfast and dinner. Beautiful pool!
Nice hotel by the river
Hotel was well kept and facilities were great. Situated in a good location.
Nice hotel by riverside
Good experience and comfortable stay. The food and environment is good too.
Beautiful room, scenic location and first class facilities!
Excellent Hotel
This hotel is fabulous the rooms are beautiful, I revived a free upgrade to a suite and the staff at the hotel are extremely helpful. The concierge was was very knowledgeable and made the stay go smoothly. Revived 20% of at the spa and the facilities where immaculate, the treatments are fantastic. Overall a wonderful stay at the hotel, will be visiting again!
Great hotel
We travel around quite a bit. Ratilanna is a great hotel. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food is good. The beds are a little hard for our taste but we like our beds soft... the only thing I would change is the piano player goes on for a bit too long. It nice but maybe not on so loud at 10pm at might.... if you have a day trip planned and want to sleep it echoes in the hotel. Other than that a great stay.
Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Very good restaurant/ The view is nice and peaceful. River (no beach in this region) is next to resort but no activity and free 1 hr boat ride offers little viewing .... close to activity areas ...a few minutes by taxi/tuk tuk.
Very nice hotel riverside with luxurious room
Very nice hotel with massive room, nice salt water pool and great breakfast buffet
Nice hotel
It is a nice hotel. The amenities are good. We had to change rooms a couple of times. Our first room had a sewerage smell that got worse over our first night. They sent maintenance to look at it and it made the smell a little less but still not pleasant. The staff were very helpful during this. They were heavily booked but managed to move us to another room and then we had to move again and stayed there for the remainder of the trip. Room was nice and spacious. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was a nice mixture as well.
Good value for money
Every details at this hotel are perfect, and far better than most other five star hotels. The Thai Lanna style is very cosy, and the service and comfort is impeccable. This is the second time I stayed at the hotel, and for sure I will come again.
Living in a museum. Beautiful wood and sculptures everywhere. Service was amazing and concierge offered cheaper tours than Viator. Good gym. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Chang Mai.
