The property is nice and clean. Near the Atocha station.
Good location and price, breakfast wasn’t good.
Convenient location and clean room.
Rooms were large and comfortable
Staff was very attentive and helpful. Hotel was clean and well maintained.
It was very well set. My kids loved this place. The employees where very helpful also. I would stay here again if i visit Madrid. Amazing city 😇
It was nice location and service was quite good too . Thank you for having me
Excellent
Shower and shampoo gel bottle is empty. Ask if we could have an upgrade room. The front desk lady did not care to take care us. The room curtain dropped down hit the table very dangerous..
The place is clean, good service, friendly, very convenient. However breakfast wasn't my type
Liked... the staff members, very profesional, very clean in and out, but not too exited about the bathrooms, (no privacy) Didn't like... the restaurant, I ask the cheff to prepare me some scramble eggs with diced tomato and onions she denied to prepare i, only fry egg or omelets, really? What's the difference? Ho well. That kill my appetite
Avoid for business
Pretty run down hotel. Definitely not worth the £150 per night. I would avoid it! Room smell of cigarettes smoke. Bathroom has loose tile. Shower was leaking around the handle. No ironing equipment so not usable for business trip. The location isn't great either too far from metro
Very basic property .
Nothing was unique Bare bone
Poor customer service
Very convenient and clean rooms
The hotel was clean and functional but expensive for what you get. I didn't like the bar area set up. The room was spacious but there was nothing like water or coffee available.
Updated, clean and spacious room within walking distance of Atocha train station, Prado Museum and Buen Retiro park. Restaurant food and service was excellent and economical.
The hotel is large and not tiny, the rooms are a good size, but our room had a few issues. The floors were not clean and also he room was noisy, you can hear people in the room above you. The area doesn't have a lot of food places nearby but uber was beneficial.
Good location (we wanted to be near Atocha train station and don't mind walking to reach attractions). Room was very clean and the bed fairly comfortable. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful. However, the first room we were given had a broken bed. We were moved to another room without any fuss, but that room smelled of stale smoke and had a broken door handle on the bathroom. Noise from the neighbouring room was very loud, we were able to identify what they were watching on TV and listen to them coughing. Breakfast buffet was good. We thought about eating dinner in the hotel but it was expensive and we couldn't find a member of staff so we went elsewhere. Overall, for the price paid I would expect more and would not recommend.
Friendly staff
Great service and friendly staff. Thank you!
it was too small
Safety
Nice hotel. Close to the bus and train station.
Booked for 3, get a 2.5 room and service
We book a room for 3 adults and they gave us a room with only two bed and a small folding bed for a kid. The third person did not have a good sleep. If asked for 3 and paid for 3 services need to be provided for 3 people.
Nice hotel
Nice hotel. Walking distance from Atocha train station.
See above
Excelente atención en sentido general, limpieza impecable y buen servicio en general
It was very efficient, clean and convenient. It met our purpose perfectly.
If in need of lodging close to train.
Easy check-in, great location close to train station.
It was near the train station and we were able to walk there. We were also able to walk to the metro stations.
10/10!!
It was great. Clean room. Free bottle of some amazing champagne, and the beds were comfortable!
Nice place, not fancy but well put together, clean, and convenient. Helpful staff. Our room had a nice partially separated area and bed for our child.
Nice hotel, friendly staff, great location.
Not worth your money.
Horrible location. Website says 5min from train station. Yes I can see the station from hotel but it took 20 minutes to walk to hotel from station with luggage including stairs (no elevator no escalators). The room is very tiny. No space to leave the luggage. 2 light bulbs were not working and AC made a horrible loud rattling sound all night. For the price I paid it was the worst hotel.
Excellent value stay!
Great hotel and nice area; good value considering size of the city and walking distance to most things!
Close to good area, expensive parking and air conditioner not working well. Very clean hotel
Yes, you should stay here!
Clean, convenient and comfortable. Location is fantastic. Hotel staff were very kind. The complimentary breakfast had a variety of options including eggs, thank you for that!
Very nice staff. Helpful and responsive. Excellent and well-staffed breakfast buffet. Unfortunately, we experienced noisy guests at night in the hallway. We appreciated the toiletry kit in the room. Would have liked wash cloths. Would have appreciated a coffee maker and tea in the room.
Location, convenience plus!
The hotel was located minutes from the Main train station in Madrid. We arrived at the station and went walking to the hotel in only 10 minutes. We arrived early before check in time and wait about 30 minutes until they assigned the room. Everything was very great and they even sent us a bottle of cava as a complementary...Excellent!
A bed for the night, but not much else. This hotel is priced around the same price as 4 and 5 star hotels I had, but it had none of those benefits or atmosphere. We got stuck multiple times in the parking garage because the gate was broken, and the lack of a fridge was very inconvenient.
Javier was super friendly and helpful.
Great hotel in a good position away from city
Great hotel with easy access to the Metro. We stayed here on our visit to the Madrid Tennis Open and found it perfectly placed to be able to walk to venue in around 45 minutes at a leisurely pace. My only criticism would be the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. It’s only a small point but it would have been nice to have the option to make a drink in the room on our return or first thing in the morning before going down for breakfast. Great hotel and very friendly staff, the complimentary bottle of Cava was a lovely touch too …. Thank you!
Horrible hotel
The staff was not friendly, the breakfast was horrible, the walls were so thin that we could hear the people in the neighboring room taking showers, and talking, we could hear everyone outside of our room talking, and to top it off there were multiple attempts of people “mistakingly attempting to enter the room”
Great location close to Atocha
Location close to Atocha’s train station that allows to quickly reach it walking was the main reason to choose the hotel. We got a big room with a good bathroom. Recommended hotel near the train station
Excellent location
For a couple The bathroom its really uncomfortable. Not many channels to watch muvies.
No thrills !.
Standard hotel to be honest, should really included breakfast with stay (170 euro) a night, no water in fridge. shower pressure not great Clean and tidy as you would expect.
We have stayed in a few hotels in this area when visiting family, but always seen to go back to this one. Rooms are comfortable and clean. However, we did found it very noisy. Probably a combination of lack of insulation, and some extremely inconsiderate guests.
Clean, new. Friendly and able team.
OK, but....
It's a good location and decent accommodation, but apart from sleeping facilities the hotel doesn't offer a lot. 2 euro for a coffee or tea from a machine in reception, and no milk/creamer or sugar available? That's hardly 4 stars! Breakfast was lovely and staff there were excellent. Reception staff were responsive.
Serviceable but not luxe in Atocha area
Clean and decent hotel, but a relatively long walk from Atocha train station. Even longer walk (15 mins+) from closest Metro stop (although some bus routes are closer). Walls are pretty thin as we could hear toilets flushing and loud discussions in next room at night. First hotel I've stayed in a long time with no coffee or tea station in-room. Quiet neighborhood at night though.
Excelente atención desde que llegamos al Hotel y durante nuestra estancia, muchas gracias.
Excellent Hotel
Spacious, v clean, comfortable room. Large comfortable bed, black out blinds - we slept well. Super breakfast and we also had a lovely dinner [excellent value]. The hotel is much further from the Plaza Mayor than when we stayed there 20 years ago [we're in our 70s now] LoL. There is no tea or coffee making facility in the room [as is normal in Spain] which is disappointing for a British traveller.
The hotel is near the main train station as well as the metro station. Great breakfast buffet.
Nice hotel in a quiet, convenient location.
Nice room
This was a few blocks past the main street just past the train/bus station. The area is safe, walkable to many bars/shoppes, etc. and luckily the weather was perfect. A good mile to the Prado Art museum and another one to the Plaza Mayor. Again - safe, friendly, inexpensive.
Nice hotel, but 15 minute walk to station or other facilties. No tea & coffee in room. we were meant to get sokme kind of award, but the staff at check in did not know anything about it. They used to have a computer at reception customers could use to check in for flighjts, but that has gone! Room and staff were fine.
Neat
Just another hotel
Convenient because it's close to Atocha, but nowhere near a 4-star hotel. No in-room conveniences, no tea/coffee (a kettle is nowhere to be seen, for example). They offer tea/coffee at reception in cardboard cups at 2 euros each! Rooms have aged, too.
Easy enough to find, this hotel is situated at the rear end of the Atocha train station. Initially felt a bit apprehensive walking there as the street was a bit quiet and felt isolated but had no bad experiences. The hotel staff were great and pleasant . The room.i had was a double but this was actually two single beds placed together which was annoying as the beds moved apart if u managed to be in the middle of the two. Otherwise spacious and comfortable room, good ammenties/toiletries provided. The main issue for me was the noise level at this hotel. I was on the first floor and this was accompanied by difficulty sleeping with loud guests, doors constantly being slammed and loud staff shouting in the corridors. Further, this was accopanied by the loud footsteps/jumping from.the room above and the groan of pipes when others used the toilets/bathroom. Clearly an aged property.
It was a good experience.
It was a standard hotel, not very 4-star from my experience. We enjoyed the extra space for the baby’s crib in the family room. Breakfast buffet very expensive but convenient and good enough. Very residential area but walking distance of Atocha and some museums.
Hotel was clean, staff was friendly, but the hotel is quite far from the train station (in spite of sharing the train station’s name). It took 25 mins to walk from the platform to hotel, with luggage, was a pain. There is no station entrance on the western side of the station, meaning you need to walk around. Given that our whole reason for staying here was convenience to the station, we were disappointed. Metro is also a 10 min walk away, meaning hotel is not optimal for exploring Madrid. Also, at 160 Euros, did not feel there was good value for money here.
Friendly reception. Lovely room, the kids were excited to have their little alcove for their beds, bottle of CAVA with VIP room was a nice bonus. Breakfast was very good, lots of selection with the buffet. walking distance to trains and nice park, planetarium close by.
Sad little hotel with a harebones tiny room. 4 star is really stretching it. No amenities, no character.
Some Small Problems
It was OK. I was visiitng my sisyter who lives close by, so the conveniencewas good. It is probably the 4th time over a few years I have stayed there. The rooms are really basic. The window ctach was broken, so I had to jam the window closed, as my room looked out over a main road and the railway tracks. Next time I will ask for a room facing the gardens. I think it is a strange thing in Madrid that many hotels don't seem to include a kettle to make tea or coiffee in the morning. Seeems a bit unfriendly. The TV control did not work cirrectly. The breakfast buffet was a bit basic. Why does Hotels.com offer breakfast for up to €48 prepaid on this site??? The cash price for anyone walking in on the day is €19. Advice to anyone booking here- pay for breakfast in the hotel. In spite fo these small-ish problems, the staff were super nice and friendly.
3 Nights
No question about the location - near two subway stations and near Puerta de Atocha. The daytime reception cam communicate in English but the nighttime reception has difficulty conversing in English. next is no coffffee /tea/free bottled water and kettle in the room. If you want hot beverage one has to pay 2 euros located at the ground floor. For a 4 star hotel this should have been free. We paid 190 euros per night and for 3 nights.
Great location, service, and value.
Very comfortable
Very comfortable stay at Rafaelhoteles, great location for Atocha station and around 20-25 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of La Latina. Blackout curtains were fantastic.
Excellent customer service, great breakfast buffet, clean rioms.
Excellent hotel and services
What we liked about this hotrl it was the customer service attention to details. What we didn't like it was that none of the rooms had microwave. In our room the front door didn't lock completely.
Good
Property was clean and it was walking distance from main museums and good restaurants. The room was nice but it did not have coffee maker or refrigerator.
The hotel was nice and the staff was friendly. They did not have basic amenities like coffee makers in the room or even free coffee anywhere at the hotel. We found it very bare bones, but loved the fact that they offered a family room with two beds for the kids. Would definitely stay here again.
Stayed only one night - chose this hotel because it was close to the Atocha station.
Great location. Pleasant and helpful service. Very good restaurant.
comfortable and conveniently located to Atocha
Had to change rooms as the first one had a super strong smokey smell, the 2nd room I got was fine. Could use a garbage in the room in addition to the one in the bathroom.
Average
The hotel was overall clean and in good location, however there was a strong stale cigarette smell in the corridors and in the room we stayed in. There was no safety on the window, on the 2nd floor with a huge drop down to concrete floor. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room which is very odd for a hotel of this type and for the price paid. You could hear people in the next room when you are in the bathroom. Bed was spongy and not very comfortable. Cleaning was of good standard.
Good location
Would stay here again and again
Clean modern and updated. Close to train station and El Prado and Botanic gardens.
Very convenient for the station. Decent price and clean.
Exception Hotel
It was great! Jose at the desk pointed us in the right direction for our required covid tests so we could return home. Thanks to him we had the tests done 2 hours after arriving with the negative results. The hotel was very clean and the breakfasts were fantastic. The location to the train station was perfect.
Decent budget friendly hotel near the city centre and transport links.
This hotel had everything I needed, and nothing of what I didn’t. Really pleased with the service. I’ll be back...
Not even a hot water kettle available at hotel. bathroom is so poorly designed it floods every time one takes shower. we asked for recommendations for multiple things but the reception staff kept saying “ no idea”. one of the reception lady was particularly rude when we asked if they could help us find some small hlasses for wine that we hv ordered from hotel restaurant on 31st night to take to our room. The lady very rudely said “no” and then said i might take Some plastic glasses are kept in the reception area for water, and told me not to take more than I need, as if I am a child and I want to play with the glasses.
Holiday Stay in Madrid
Excellent 4 night stay. 10 minute walk to main train station. Our family of 4 stayed in the family room with the two extra sofa beds. Very clean room and plenty of space. Nice bathroom with bathtub. Low price for the high quality of room and services received. Will book this hotel again when staying in Madrid.
Nothing unique, everything was okay. But a bit far from everything. Nothing really within walking distance.
Very close to Atocha
Very close to Atocha train station. Clean, comfortable, quiet, good value for money.
I liked how simple the hotel was and a very good location!
Stay at Rafael hotel Atocha
We only stayed one night. The location was great, close to the train station, 30min walk to Plaza Mayor. The room was clean, well lit and the bed comfortable. I booked it the same day though hotel.com. Initially they could not find the reservation, but they accommodated us. I would stay there again.
My room door frame is broken the top frame fell down so that it makes hard to open the door. We have reported to front desk and no one came and fixed it.
An easy walk to the main train station; but not too much in a touristy area; easily walkable to other locations
Great hotel super close to the metro station. We loved staying here, walls are thin like most of Europe but the place was very nice and clean. Best of all the location. You are just a short walk away to several metro stations as well as parque el retiro that has a ton of things to see, shop and eat. If you’re coming from the MAD airport just take the airbus train which is out front of T4 and get off the last stop which is Atocha. It’s about a 45 min ride depending on traffic. There you go towards the train station and if you follow the path you’ll hit a stairwell that will put you in the street the hotel is. The walk is about 15-20 mins at most and very safe and not congested as the main roads. Again, highly recommend!
once was enough
If you’re looking for a soft bed this isn’t the place. Our bathroom door knob fell off on first use. However the room was clean. We stayed here because it was close to the train station. However for the price I could have stayed at a better place, had breakfast and took a cab for the same price or cheaper. I know I would not stay here again.

Great neighborhood, central Location. Everything was perfect.
