Radisson Blu made my stay so comfortable and enjoyable. Even the girls at the reception area friendly and always up for a chat. Easy walking to city centre and museums.
The hot tub and sauna are a must visit at this property! But you must book a timeslot
enjoyed the stay
Wonderful location.
Comfort in the Arctic
Excellent base for everything, excellent breakfast, very helpful staff
Best hotel in svarlbard
A Great Place to Chill
This hotel was a great place to experience the polar nights. With two restaurants on site, one was not forced to brave the temperatures. That said, it is conveniently located to explore everything Longyearbyen has to offer. The rooms/condition are a little dated. The staff happily connect you with local experiences and businesses.
Amazing and friendly staff. The spa is amazing, I would return to same hotel when i will go back to Svalbard
This is best place that is reasonably good and part of a reputed chain of hotels. Though rooms are a bit dated one can exect comfortable beds and decent toiletries. Breakfast is standard continental and does have a variety of juices, fresh fruits and breads. Property does have access to KHO observatory that lets you know about nothern lights and does arrange trips. In short, this is the go to place in Longyearbyen.
beautiful hot tubs to watch the snow from. Amazing breakfast.
In the heart of Longyearbien
Our stay was great, except for that one day that we didn't get to use the sauna and jacuzzi because it's maintenance day. Breakfast is sumptuous. Customer service is excellent. Staff is very helpful. The lobby looks like it needs some renovation. Place is very close to restaurants, shops and grocery store, walking distance to the water. My husband even briefly saw the Northern Lights one night. Can't wait to come back.
Cozy
Good location near the upper end of the main walking street. Airport shuttle buses stop on the main street in front of the hotel. Quite amazing to have a nice hotel in such a remote location
Nice and convenient!
This is a really comfortable stay in a far away destination.
Good location in heart of Longyearbyen. Clean and great breakfast.
Staff was excellent - helpful and friendly. Great breakfast and the restaurant was also very nice. Rooms were kind of shabby, like an inexpensive motel. Hot tub was unavailable due to bacteria, which was disappointing.
This is a unique and very special hotel in Longyearbyen. The staff is phenomial especially at the breakfast area and the front desk. Most of the employees were from Argentina and Brazil. They helped my elderly parents in multiple ways to ensure they had a restful stay. Thank you. This hotel is clearly a 10/10 and I'll be back again
First time visitor to Longyearbyen. The hotel is very central. Rooms are not big but corner rooms have two walls of windows! Breakfast buffet is excellent but the coffee…undrinkable. Maybe it’s Norwegian style? Great coffee at the Husky Cafe across the street though!
Booked months ago with hope to use sauna, but sauna was closed during my stay. Room had good mattress and nice blackout curtains. Small room can use a shelf in the bedroom, and in the bathroom please. Good breakfast buffet & nice dinner.
Great place to stay in the middle of Longyearbyen. Helpful staff and good onsite dining options. Loved the breakfast buffet with amazing views from the large windows.
Great for exploring
The hotel is perfect for exploring. The bar & restaurant are at a very high level. The room didn’t have aircon that we could control in the room, it did get really hot in the evening. Also it was a shame there was no gym but only a minor detail.
more run down than Radisson hotels usually are
It’s the place to stay Good food and staff
Svalbard
Amazing experience to a unique place with absolutely great accommodations
Very comfortable hotel choice in Longyearbyen
Extremely helpful, pleasant and friendly staff. Happy to book any & all excursions from the front desk and just generally very welcoming. The location is excellent, near to the museum/harbour, but also at the end of the main street, so easy to get anywhere by foot in a few minutes. All excursions use the hotel as a pick up point as well as the airport bus. Attached to the hotel are a Gastropub & a bit more of an upscale restaurant. Both were excellent, depending on what you're looking for. Breakfast was within this restaurant and was wide ranging and very nice. Lastly, to have a Jacuzzi/Sauna on site is a very nice bonus and to sit out in the Jacuzzi watching the sun go down with the mountains in the background is really fantastic
.
Great place!
Warm, Comfortable, and a Great Basecamp
This was the best place to stay! My room was comfortable and warm. In fact, I did a polar plunge and swam in the arctic ocean. The bathrooms are warm enough where my bathing suit dried over night! Breakfasts are amazing. Great selection of food and I always a solid meal before venturing out for the day. The hotel staff is also great to work with. They are very nice and helped personalize my experience while there. Longyearbyen is small anyhow but the Radiation Blu is right in the heart of everything. I wouldn't walk to the airport from there but there is a shuttle bus that drops you off to and from the hotel. Very convenient if you ask me. I also met up with friends in the hotel's bar and it was great place to have drinks and eat. I also recommend the Nansen Restaurant, I had one of my favorite meals while there-- reindeer. When staying in Svalbard again, I will plan on staying at the Radisson Blu Polar Hotel again. I've stayed there twice now and this last time and I enjoy it.
Awesome play to stay..
Love the experience and stay..staff and chef was very helpful they maid vegetarian food for us 😋 overall we loved the stay..
Conveniently located in Longyearbyen. Friendly and accommodating staff.
The Radisson Blu Polar is well kept and centrally located in proximity to the town’s museums, shopping area and waterfront. Trekking/ hiking is right out the front door. And the brows are spectacular. The hotel is warm and welcoming and the employees speak many languages. Overall an A plus
Functional property in good location
Nice enough hotel, but pricey for what it offers. Rooms are basic and functional. Bedding is uncomfortable with lumpy/ thin pillows. Food offerings are ok with a pub in the hotel. Breakfast buffet is plentiful, but items exposed and I noted on multiple occasions individuals grabbing items with bare hands. It would be nice to have offerings which could be ordered and this not touched by multiple hands.
Great rooms and amazingly helpful and friendly staff. Lovely breakfast; super location
Unique, cozy, classy, friendly
Very friendly staff combined with cozy, clean, quiet and very decent sized rooms. This plus their main restaurant, with stunning views and a lovely dinner menu, make this hotel the best for those looking for the best location and facilities in Longyearbyen
Brilliant
Highly recommend this hotel
Really enjoyed our stay
Staff are really friendly
Room has great views
Our room had great views on two sides
Bad management. Bad hotel.
Unfriendly check in. Didn't told us that the room was in another building. Restaurant not available on the first evening. Priority is given to the boat groups (they literally own the hotel with their luggages everywhere). We went to the hotel pub, dark, bad and with broken seats. When asking for a booking for the next evening I was first told it was to late to book. I felt really unwelcomed. Room with awful view on parking. Access to the room thought marketing and accounting offices. No holiday spirit, no adventure spirit here. Sauna is closed every Monday but nothing tells it. You should guess and plan another day. No business room. When sitting in the breakfast room I was rudely told they need to prepare the tables for the evening. Just go to the oublic library, Radisson doesn't want you to be comfy here! REALLY BAD. probably due to a bad management as location is good. Please Radisson change the manager. There are now much better hotels in Svalbard.
Radisson Blue Polar Hotel was an ideal place to stay in Longyearbyen. We spent 3 nights and enjoyed the location and facilities.
check in process was extremely efficient. After confirming my name and passport, I was handed the package with keys and all information in an envelope. All done in 5 minutes! This mada a huge difference when a plane load of people were waiting to check in!
Nice stay
I think this is the best hotel in this town. Location, service and comfort was very good. Food in the restaurant was excellent. The staff was very nice and friendly.
Excellent hotel, in an excellent position near the town and the museum. The building itself isn't attractive, a sort of grey shed but very different inside. Not the best value - as it is the worlds most northerly hotel! Staff helpful, breakfast, good, dinner good.
Good restaurant and bar. Good breakfast. Room (in annex) had malfunctioning lights, slightly tired shower, and no phone. Junior suites not worth the extra money - just had an L shaped sofa in one corner of the room.
Stayed in a superior room with a fab view of the mountains. Lovely room with a good shower! Friendly staff. Good location.
Good location and would stay there again
Great stay (mid March) in an amazing place. Good self service breakfast with lots of choice. Had dinner also in the restaurant one night and the Barents gastropub - Great pizza if you’ve had enough reindeer lol We booked a junior suite Room 3002 which had amazing picture windows overlooking the fjord and mountains. Very comfortable rooms although they’re in a separate building to the main hotel so you need to carry your bags there. Good central location close to shops and restaurants, front desk staff can help book tours / transfers too Airport shuttle bus is NOK100 pp each way, NOK170 return. A taxi is NOK150 Single so may be cheaper if there’s two of you … and quicker as you don’t have multiple hotel stops
A great place to stay in Svalbard!
We stayed 4 nights in the hotel. The service was excellent coupled with awesome breakfast and convenience to reach the town, stores and other facilities.
Great!!!
The service was very good.
Aging property, but can’t complain, given its extreme location. We enjoyed our stay. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
An okay stay
I think the hotel is over-priced for what you get. The bathroom was dirty and old. The toilet was dirty. The hallway to get to your room look old. The hotel needs some renovation. The breakfast was quite good -the only minus is the lack of hot beverages. Otherwise, the food options are good, including for vegetarians. There are very few food options for dinner though and it’s also over priced for what you get. The hotel is very well located. It’s convenenient to stay there if you do many tours as all tours depart from the radisson. The staff at the lobby is helpful.
Hotel is very disappointing, the restaurant is pretty bad for both breakfast and dinner, and be aware there is no daily housekeeping service they come once in a while sometimes they did not show up for 3 days, the hotel is old we had problem with the heating system, lights were broken, window did not close well…..and more
lower price through expedia and in the middle of town, very comfortable, includes buffet breakfast and wonderful staff.
Stay at Radisson
Only 1 person checking us in at 3am when probably 10 couple got off bus. Central heating system not working or not working very well (told heating guy not working at weekend but did not improve on Monday or Tuesday morning). At times during our stay it got down to -30c outside.
Good hotel in good location. Hotel clean and provides all basic needs. Located close to town centre.
One of the best full service hotel in the northern most part of the world with nice Sauna and Hottub.
Only a short overnight stay. Arrived 2.30am, had breakfast and checked out.
Overall a good place to stay!
Hotel is centrally placed, breakfast very good, has nice bar and restaurant area with good views. Sitting area in the main building is a little limited as its used by most of the cruise agencies and often is full. Overall the hotel is expensive (but then so is Norway and Svalbard) but it was a good place to stay.Good wifi.
Great setting and views. Good varied breakfast. Excellent bar and food.
The view is amazing! It’s really the only nice place to stay in Longyearbyen, and since it’s so remote, it’s understandable that the rooms & esp bathrooms look & feel like they are pre-fab. The restaurant & front desk were extremely helpful & we booked all of our excursions through them, this was an unbelievable experience
Great location with so much more potential..food in hotel is amazing.staff not so attentive.rooms very standard.but understandable as it is svalbard...
Great hotel, fantastic views from the restaurant. Newly refurbished bar and restaurant serving excellent food.
Comfortable base to explore Svalbard
Overall a nice and comfortable hotel, the main building is recently renovated and looks good. The other building (where most of the junior suites are based) is a bit older. The rooms were comfortable, only the bathroom is a bit basic. The jacuzzi didn't work when I was there. The restaurant is nice but has a rather limited menu, there is also a bar/pub with burgers, pizzas etc. Overall a good hotel and a good base camp if you want to explore Svalbard.
Hotel was booked months ago but on arrival found out we had had our reservation changed to the Funken Lodge, would have been nice to have been told!! Cost a taxi fare to the new accommodation and although the Funken lodge was nice to us situated on top of a hill! We also had booked a junior suite room at the Radisson but ended up with a standard double room! Poor communication from Ebookers I am afraid!!
Funken Lodge
Fantastic hotel with friendly staff. Very new and modern, but at the same time cosy... great breakfast and view.
Our stay was actually at the Funken Lodge, where we were transferred after we were told the Blu Polar would be under construction during our stay. From start to finish, this hotel was amazing on all levels. The design, the staff, the food, the room, the location--everything was magical. The breakfast spread was out of this world, the beds heavenly, the bar perfect for late night drinks or mid-afternoon "treats" and relaxing by the fire. There is nothing that I would change about our stay or about this place, and we can't wait to return!
Very nicexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqhoteleewwweewweewwaaasswwwwwww
Such an amazing location.
One of the best of the few hotels in this remote area of the world. A visit goes without recomendation, ahould be on everybody’s bucket list. Great escape from todays busy life...
The best hotel in Longyearbyen.
Outstanding breakfast! I enjoyed it everyday. You are requested to remove your boots before entering the hotel. No one bothers you if you don't.
Location central in Longyearbyen. Great breakfast
Longyearbyen isn't big but due to unpredictable weather it's more convenient being central.
The hotel was well positioned for boats and airport. No complaints
Comfortable hotel near town center
We higly recommend this hotel for a short or longer stay at Lonyearbyan. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect for visiting shops, museums and other establishments in town. Breakfast which was included, was wonderful, and the service was excellent. We wished we had booked the same hotel after our return from our cruise.
Excellent room and restaurant. Great views from the restaurant.
A great choice for Svalbard!
This hotel meets my high standards perfectly. In addition, its location could not be better for getting around the town or for getting out from the main settlement. The views from the dining room are unmatchable!
Radisson Blu Polar Hotel Spitsbergen
Was there for a polar expedition in mid-April, and this was probably the perfect hotel for our group due to its size, location, activities offered, large restaurant, etc. It was a very busy week though but we've managed to make it smooth due to the staff's help. I would certainly recommend this hotel. Stayed in a standard room, and a junior suite as well. Junior suites were much better than the standard rooms.
Hotel is next to longyear river and awesome views
I stayed at the Radisson Blu at the end of January, hence no sun. If You're going to stay 11 degrees from the pole suggest you treat yourself and do it with some comfort. I had a suite booked and because I waited approx 45 minutes for the room to be ready, the staff upgraded myself to the best suite. Room 3001. The largest and best hotel room on the island. Great views of the mountains opposite at noon in the twilight of midday and a very large lounge and interior. The hotel has an excellent restaurant, bar and is close to the center of town and museum. The staff always friendly and helpful and the breakfast choice excellent.
Radisson Blu Longyearbyen--A solid choice in Svalb
I have stayed now both at the Radisson Blu and the Svalbard Hotell on two different trips to Longyearbyen. The Radisson Blu provide an excellent experience with the highlights being the common areas--the restaurant and bar areas. The room (junior suite) was spacious but in need of repair (the shower flooded on the first day from a clogged drain). The Wi-Fi, though, was very unreliable beyond the very basics of Web browsing. Warning to business travels--if you need reliable Internet, the coffee / chocolate shop in town or the lobby of the Svalbard Hotell is the right place. But, the friendly staff and bar keeps definitely made up for whatever minor inconvenience was experienced with the Internet room--and the location is superb. I would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Longyearbyen.
Won't be returning.....
Comfortable but basic hotel formed of 2 buildings. Good restaurant and bar ... little else. In a fairly busy area; hotel photos are misleading.
North Pole luxe
Comfortable and clean rooms, friendly staff, really nice hotel. Great breakfast buffet.
The hotel location was fantastic. Walking distance to everything. The staff were also spectacular. I asked for help around the toe. and for directions every day and they were patient and knowledgeable. Everyone was English speaking as well. Breakfast was great. Rooms were very clean and quiet. I’ll stay here on my next trip to Svalbard.
24 Hour Darkness Polar Experience
As the northern most full service hotel in the world (about 1100 kms from the North Pole) the hotel clearly faces challenges. But once in the hotel, you would not notice the challenges. Standrards of service and comfort are good.
Svalbard is a place like no other. Given its location in the Arctic Circle, it is no surprise that all goods and services are VERY expensive. The hotel rooms are a bit spartan for the price, but a hearty breakfast is included every day. The staff is exceptional and the hotel restaurant, Nanssen is very good. The landscape and sea are breathtaking. The island is rich with history and there are plenty of guided, outdoor activities. We highly recommend Svalbard Husky for dog sledding/carting and you cannot go wrong with any of the boats tours offered by Hurtigruven.
Hope the planned renovation includes an elevator.
Hotel had been located after 96 Olympics. Great location Only two problems really... 1. Staff were vague about summer activities like dog tours..only knew of one. 2. After traveling for 7 weeks we had a lot of luggage and our room was down steep stairs...no elevator..had to ask for help. I am 65 As flight was at 2.30am we were out all day and night..so an offer of coffee and snacks would have been appreciated
Best hotel in Longyearben
Great food at this hotel, and it is central to everything. Not far from the airport or from the attractions in downtown Longyearben. I would stay here again for sure if I return to Svalbard.
Great place to stay
The hotel is of a very good standard. The free breakfast was very nice and the rooms are a good size and very clean. Great place to stay before starting an Arctic expedition.
Great location
Facilities are a bit dated. TV didn't work from the start of the trip. Overall, great hotel for short stay
Fantastic hotel
Great location, restaurant and pub superb, views amazing
Amazing food.Really expensive though. The rooms co
Amazing food.Really expensive though. My room needs re painted and no phone in the room.Luggage marks on the wall.Overall very nice though.
Good hotel
Longyearbyen is for outdoor enthusiasts. Hotel can book many trips in the area.
A mostly pleasant stay but with a significant flaw
I had two stays here before and after a cruise. The rooms were comfortable and the bar/restaurant wasn't bad. Desk staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel is an activity hub for people leaving for or coming back from cruises and other activities, and it makes an inadequate effort to accommodate them. There wasn't nearly enough common-area space for everyone. Ironically, It's not because there wasn't enough raw space. There was a large meeting room used for temporary luggage storage which the hotel could have easily have also used for additional seating space. Heck, it could even have set up a coffee bar and made a little money. But there was nothing but empty space in that room, with people sitting on the floor all along the walls. For a hospitality business, this was a major failure.
This is the only one nice hotel in the island
OK. The Price of its restaurant is too expensive.------------
Centre of town
Great pub attached to hotel with excellent food. Free wifi. Excellent buffet breakfast. Would have been nice to have an alarm clock in the room. No room to room phones.
No Shoes & No Weapons
Great base for exploring beautiful Svalbard. Take shoes off before entering the hotel (Svalbard tradition) and lock weapons away (guns are common due to polar bears roaming). Lovely, clean and comfortable room. The pub is great!
Noisy and shower leaks
Shower leaks all over the floor. The bath just leaked behind the wall and came out the bottom. Reported to the reception but it wasn't fixed and room was serviced very late. Rooms noisy from above and people walking around
Great location
We had a nice stay at the Radisson. Good breakfast. Extra nice was the sauna and the massage chair after trekking the whole day in the mountains.
A Must Visit!
Svalbard is a truly amazing place and definitely one for the bucket list. The hotel is not upto usual Radisson standards but then given the location you can't really expect it to be. Rooms were clean and have everything you need for a short stay. Staff were excellent (all but one miserable receptionist). The food and bar were very good. Airport bus stops right outside the hotel which is handy.
A Perfect Spot
This is one of a wonderful place to stay. A best place to visit all time. I would love to visit again sooner.
