Awesome staff that make you feel at home and the hotal has a great atmosphere

Lovely property. A lot of love has gone into restoring this beautiful hotel.

It’s taken sometime for me to write this as I don’t like giving bad reviews. I want to start with, the staff were wonderful, attentive, polite and willing to help. The food was fresh and delicious. Complements to the chef and kitchen staff. Now for a honest review. When booking think backpackers. For management/owners - clean up your act, your staff and customers deserves better. Piles of bird faeces in at least 2 places. Stained sheets, holes in the floor. Clean up the rear access, it is unsightly, strong rancid smell, safety needs attention. Provide better and secure shared bathroom facilities. If you are looking for an affordable accommodation and don’t need the finer comforts or privacy, this place is for you. The people of country towns rely on steady business. Please don’t dismiss the QA on this review instead use it to make an educated decision.

There was a street christmas party and we enjoyed burgers and drinks from the bar, the staff are friendly and amicable, the hotel itself has a great atmosphere , well done

The food was good, the bar was good. But when it comes to accommodation. The noise levels was atrocious, I could hear every word spoken from the next room. A person or persons walk by my room I could hear everything. A persons phone rang, I could hear it. The room was a typical pub style room but not with the $92 I paid. It would have been more suitable for $40 a night. Although the room was clean. The bed was small and uncomfortable, I could not drift off due to the comfort and noise of the other occupants.

Very tidy room, with the convenience of having the pub downstairs. Nice little courtyard with pool table. Perfect for a stop over when heading to the gemfields!

Gross hardened white stain on the sheets. Shared shower is awkwardly designed with nowhere to put your stuff. Super stuffy rooms. Horrible mattress. It was a cheap for a reason.

Great overnight stop, if you want to break up a long drive. The food and pub atmosphere is great, and the courtyard with the pool table is a nice place to spend an evening. Will always stay here when passing through on my way to the gemfields!

I liked the quaintness of the Hotel inside : the Hotel Manager very helpful & Staff very attentive. The dinner I chose from the menu was very nice & not too large of proportions. What I didn’t like : (1) That I wasn’t able to open the window in the bedroom as the window rope opener was broken. (2). That there was some evidence of cockroach or other insect excrement in the sink cupboard ( underneath) had I intended to use that piece of hotel furniture. (3). One of the kitchen staff ( I heard) had a terrible cough & was hoping that it was not hindering him or her in conducting proper kitchen duties hygienically.

Wasn’t expecting a lot for the price, but the bedding smelt and the shared toilets were disgusting.

A great place to stay for a few nights. Easy check in, friendly people - GREAT food in the restaurant!

Convenient but everything else was poor, from sagging old mattress and sticky mark on quilt cover, to air con that did not work ( the external part of split system did not come on at all). Only access is via steps and rear entry outdoor stairs that have to be used are steep. The room had a sink with cold water, but no internet, no tv, no bedside light etc. really not same standard as most pubs or motels in area

Free pool table! Paid for the budget room with the bunk bed. Very basic (as expected) for the low price, however, the room was spotless, and the bunk bed was surprisingly comfortable!

Great location, right smack in the middle of town. Great steak dinner. Very comfortable and convenient for a good price. Would definitely stay again.

Maybe the pub below could be good the hotel is not good at all with smelly dirty toilet and coackroach in the bedroom.

Clean & well-priced, basic room.

This has become my regular stopover in Roma. Basic rooms, clean and well-priced. Only issue this trip was a crack in the room door - probably due to the Queensland heatwave in December and I'm sure they'll fix it. The room, sheets, and bathroom were all clean.

This is a great budget option. You have your own, lockable room which is clean, tidy and comfortable and includes a tap and sink. Showers and toilet are shared with other guests (separate ones for males and females). You'll need to park on the street, but it was right in the main part of town, so I felt pretty safe parking there. There can be a bit of noise and music from the pub below, but it didn't really bother me.

Very basic. Air Condition work. No kettle though cups and coffee provided. Access to male toilets could be a hazard to older people.

We felt very welcome. The pub has great character and it was fun to stay there as a group. The beds were comfy and we were made to feel quite at home 😊

The hotel is over 100 years old and it obviously shows. The bar and restaurant areas are great, food is also great. The 2nd story accommodation is extremely basic, literally a bed and a basin with shared showers and toilets. The main issue with this is the access to the male amenities, down and then up a fairly steep set of stairs (both ways) which was frankly impossible for my elderly father. The price reflected the amenities so not a complaint but the restricted access was a real issue.

Cheap for weary travellers, clean and a great feed

Love that it was an old building but unfortunately the music was on up until midnight and was only turned off due to my husband getting up and dressed and going to the bar and asking the music near the pool area which was below our room turned off. Lack of sleep was not welcomed.

Staff friendly meals great bed ok But there was no hot water for a shower was very disappointing

We stayed for the night in one of the rooms which was a bit average but very clean. It is an old pub and we expected it anyway. Thevstaffwere fantastic and it was great to sit in the bar for the afternoon. We had the 400gm dry aged steak for dinner which was amazing. I would go back just for that. The atmosphere was great the beer was great and the dinner was great.

The food was exceptional and general staff service was high quality. Accommodation and facilities were reasonable for a low cost pub stay.

Fantastic old pub modernised downstairs for meals and drinks. Old world upstairs that is clean and bed was very comfortable.

After paying for my room I arrived to find the place closed for the next few days. There was no way to find my room or to check in. I ended up camping in my car. NOT IMPRESSED

Loved the down stairs area. Food was amazing. The best beef I have ever had. My rare was perect. However the accommodation was very lacking. Clean sheets are great however the doona cover and matching pillow smelled putrid. Watched as the rooms were cleaned: no vacumm of carpets in between stays. Sheets changed but not the doona etc

The bar and bistro were great….best steaks! Very convenient to everything in town. Small rooms but clean and new linen. Share bathroom lacked anywhere to place clothes etc while showering.

Excellent staff, very friendly. Menu had a wide range to select from.

Just a country pub

Staff were absolutely wonderful, happy to talk and give information about Roma and it’s facilities.

Having stayed here only six months ago, I had enjoyed my stay and the old building, the staff were previously friendly and inviting. However, this stay was quite different. We were treated with discrimination, our room was obviously not vacuumed, with dead bugs on the floor and a mouse running around the room in the evening. The day manager told us that we could order take away food & drinks to our room, the night manager told us we could only have food in a takeaway plastic container, refused to give us plates, even though we were staying just upstairs and would collect and return ourselves. Given that we were three adults, we would have easily spent $150 that evening, but instead went and spent our money elsewhere, where we were welcomed. We frequently visit Roma to visit aging family, but will not return to this venue for our next stay.

Loved the verandahs. Clean, comfortable and large bed.

Very antiquated. Bed sheets had a strong smell of bleach and there was no power in the room or kitchen in the morning to make a cup of coffee, or charge my battery operated appliances. Staff were lovely. Very friendly. Kitchen for guest use needed a clean.

Old hotel with separate shared bathroom/toilet(ladies) which was new and spotless, as was my room. The timber floors around were rough and little piles of bird droppings where birds perch overnight shows verandahs not cleaned daily.

Hotel in the main street of Roma. Good location for shopping and restaurants, Mens facilities out side of the building. In winter it is very cold.

Room was small, with a very uncomfortable bed. Ac worked but vent was broken.

Lovely old pub… lots of character. Bar area/ restaurant has been revamped and has maintained a style - modern but in tune with the era of when the pub was first built. My sister & I enjoyed the Trivia night that was ably run by Lyle, which included delicious pizzas.

Loved this unique experience as I explored the Queensland outback!

Poor girl behind the bar couldn't find the room key ,otherwise all good.

Pleasant staff and clean room

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Queen Arms. Bar staff were super friendly and helpful. Only issues were no rubbish bin in the room and our family room had a tv, which didn't work, so the onsite manager disgruntedly took the tv away, with a comment " well none of the other rooms have a tv". Also, it was a Monday night and music from downstairs in the venue was playing loudly into well past midnight. Aside from that, we would definitely stay there again.

Left side of the men’s bathroom was better than the right. Nice staff, nice pub.

Our room was above pool table very noisy no constraint on patrons noise levels after 10pm. Power out in kitchen in morning so no cuppa.

Worst place to stay ever in my travels

room very bare , amenities terrible and unsafe , in this day and age they have a timer on the light for the shower which goes out while your showering - how absolutely ridiculous and UNSAFE

The staff were all very friendly and efficient The room was basic but reasonable for the price. The thing that annoyed me was the music was played loudly until about 2.00am

Cheap basic room but very loud constant noise (drunks & music) from beer garden directly below until 12.30am prevents sleep. Dangerous stairs down to shabby communal male showers & toilet.

Liked the character and beauty of the building. Staff were lovely. Didn't like the paper-thin walls & heard all that was being said & done in next room.... Having said that still think it was excellent value for money.

While the staff were good and pleasant I would rename the hotel- the Queens armpits. Rooms were freezing despite aircon going flat out insufficient blankets. The male bathrooms were located down one stair and up another. It was well lit but cumbersome to someone who may have mobility problems. Not recommend!

It’s a quintessential old Australian pub with shiplap walls. Although a little rough around the edges it’s friendly, clean and very well priced

Good old pub with basic amenities, just don’t stay there on a busy night (fri/sat) and expect a good sleep as the music travel

The staff were excellent in every way, treated us all like family. The steaks and meals in general were top quality, and the rooms were very well priced in comparison to the ammenities. Would definitely stay there again if travelling to or through Roma. Even the locals in the front bar were very friendly and accommodating. Well done.

The food and staff were good, the rooms have been updated and were simple but clean the bed 🛏 unfortunately uncomfortable and some tidying up around the rear exit would be good as it’s not a very nice walk.

This lovely old hotel made for a great one-night stay in Roma. Very well situated and with wonderful bar staff. Plenty of locals around to chat to which added to the experience of the visit. Only complaint is that there were some guests staying the same night as us that were loud and using foul language in the beer garden/pool table area below our bedroom until 2.30am and then one of them was sick all over the floor in the Ladies shared bathroom before they all finally went quiet. Not a pleasant start to my day the next morning!

Just noisy and rude driñkers ordering dinner didn't get after 20mins need extra staff at the restaurant so the bar ladies are not congestion with customers

Those who enjoy staying in an older style country hotel will enjoy the Queen’s Arms at Roma. Friendly staff, good food and chatting to the locals at the bar

After a long drive I was pleased to get a simple clean room with a comfortable bed and cold air conditioning. The accommodation and bathroom is basic but the price is fair, and very convenient for a good meal and a cold drink before bed. Parking is on the street but I had no problems.

Historic building, beautiful portraits and street art through out. Amazing front bar area decently sized dining area and nice beer garden out back. Let downs were the state of the stairs to the rooms dimly lit and torn carpet on stairs almost had a fall as we reached the top. Beds very uncomfortable and missing legs making for an extremely pointless pit stop on a long road trip. As much as it is a budget room at the $40 price the one thing I needed was a good nights sleep after driving 10hrs with another 10 the next day was a good rest. The friendly smiles and conversation accompanied by very good customer service was the highlight of the stay.

The rooms are simple but clean with good air-conditioning and wifi. There is a communal kitchen with microwave and the bathrooms were clean and functional. But the hotel is very run down and it's very noisy - the rooms are above the bar and beer garden and the music and conversation is loud until late at night (11pm+). If you don't like noise you'll definitely need ear plugs (or a different location). As a budget hotel it's not bad value but it could definitely do with a make over.

Second time we stay here while transiting Roma. The sheets on the bed were clean but one of the towels had a full face of make up. We found one cockroach in the room too. On the bright side, the aircon was working. The showers had hot water and the kitchen room was clean.

Such a great piece of western Queensland history. The rooms and bathrooms are adequate for the price. I'd like to see better lighting on the main stairs and the worn carpet fixed - both those are dangerous. Also it would be great to have an indoor sitting area with comfortable chairs for guests other than the kitchen area.

Property is a 5 stars for a pub! Rooms were clean and bathroom was clean. Pub is nice with great food.

I didn't like the cigarette smoke that I could smell and the air condition duct that was outside my room.

This pub has all the old style quirkiness of a country pub. Big rooms, clean amenities, crisp white sheets.

Great value for money however if you want to sleep early consider elsewhere as with the age of the property there is no sound proofing between rooms and even whispering can be heard next door. Also the bar music played loudly until 1:00am on a Tuesday night and the rooms are above the music. Room was a good size, bed was comfy and food brilliant so I’d definately come back

There were mice and rats and cockroaches in my room, there are no locks on the bathroom or shower doors, the kitchenette provided only an empty bottle of detergent to wash dishes so dishes piled up from all of the guests.

Beautiful old pub that has been partially restored. Still work in progress however the character shone through. Staff are the best. Helpful and friendly. Best value in Australia. Can’t wait to arrange another trip to roma just to stay at the queens arms.

Loving outback hospitality

The people were so helpful and went out of their way to help with anything we asked for requested of them, they even allowed us to use their phone no charge as being with optus we had no service to make calls. Lovely meals and hotel was central. Also had a tour desk and helped with good info of things to see and do. Highly recommend this hotel.

Low price central location. Didn't like that they had forgotten my reservation and room hadn't been cleaned from the previous occupants. Had a long wait for this to be done. Had also phoned hotel an hour ahead of my arrival to confirm my arrival time. Thier booking system is not properly managed.
