Nice facility, nobody wearing masks
I was evacuating the hurricane area so I made a snap decision to go to Selma and stay at this hotel. Although I arrived at 11 pm Saturday night, it was not a problem for them. The hotel was very quiet and clean. My room was large and had a microwave, coffee maker and fridge, which were very convenient and helped me save money on my unplanned trip. I did not take advantage of the free breakfast because although there were signs saying everyone must wear masks inside due to the pandemic, nobody did, including the employees. This was my biggest concern since Alabama has the lowest vaccination rate in the country. In fact, I left the hotel for this reason although I still can’t go home. Also note that this hotel is two floors and there is no elevator. Normally this would not be a problem for me, but since I had to leave with several suitcases and my computer for fear everything would be lost in the storm, I had a very difficult time lugging all my stuff across the parking lot and up the stairs.
The room smell very bad nasty like mildew wet carpet and had roaches. They didn’t have towels. You ask for towels and they tell you they don’t have towels. What hotel don’t have towels
It was notclean the plumbing was messed up and we had to be moved from one room to another ad it was wotst than the first room.
Nice, clean room. Convenient location to all the historical locations we wanted to visit. Breakfast was ok.
Location
the room didn't have enough towels ,no kleenex tissues, and the breakfast was horrible the coffee was watered down and so was the cranberry juice. We will not stay again or recommend
Everything was good. Not like some of the reviews I read.
Room with bad smell, shower with long black hear, 3/4" gap on front door at close condition. breakfast set up of a child, no for an adult. Too expensive for what they have to offer. Won't recommend to no one.
Rooms was very clean they have been updated! Very pleasing and convenient!
The room had roaches, the staff and guests weren't wearing masks and living there, the guests were knocking on our hotel room doors and went outside to shoot their guns for New Years by the pool and we couldn't enjoy being there for a funeral from out of town.
Paradise in room
My trip was amazing...clean rooms... wonderful customer service
Disappointed
This place was not clean it was dirty. It had a overwhelming pot smell. It was clearly being smoked inside. Very disappointed in the quality of this place for the price paid!
Room was nice and clean. Pillows were rather small. Facilities were clean as well. Quite a bit of noise from the highway and parking lot. Overall, nice stay.
noisy. single ply toilet paper on a roll nearly out of reach. lady at desk didnt have a mask.
beware!
Came to Selma because my husband had an unexpected death in his family. Stayed at a different hotel, tried to extend for one night there but they were full. Hotels are limited in Selma so we had to settle for this comfort Inn. Check in was cool. The young lady at the desk was nice. There is no elevator, it’s noisy, upon walking into the room it smelled horrible. Much like cigarettes and pee! I wanted to sit in the chair but there were stains and it looks nasty! There were crumbs on the desk and when I wiped around the sink with my Lysol wipes pubic hairs fell into the sink. I couldn’t help but to think, truck stop/pornhub hotel. Glad we only needed one night. And we will be back at our regular hotel going forward and prayerfully never staying at this one again! I’ve also heard rumors of people breaking into others peoples rooms, weed smoking and other illegal activity at this hotel.
Front desk lady was very polite and friendly. The tub stopper need adjusting it wouldn’t stay up to drain the water in the shower. The bathroom door would close properly. Thanks!
Comfortable Stay
I will stay here again during my next visit to Selma. Room was very clean. Friendly staff. The bed was comfortable. My only (minor) peeve is the toilet paper holder is in a weird spot... It felt like I had to do a complete turn around on the toilet to get to the toilet paper. I just kept the roll on the back of the toilet during my stay.
my stay at the Comfort Inn Selma, Alabama
My stay was excellent, cleanliness, service and staff was very good, no noise, would book again
Customer service was the only thing good about this place
Breakfast coffee was very weak. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful.
The hotel was easy to drive into and exit. But coming in at night, the big sign was dark and hotel was not easy to spot. The room was comfortable enough. The WiFi was not the greatest. Breakfast was good with a lot of choices. The breakfast pastries were stale though.
Great stay
My stay was rest from check-in until my departure. Although the guest across the hall was extremely loud and I could hear her fussing with someone I didn’t complain because I know it wasn’t the hotel fault. I would definitely stay again and recommend others.
Comfy bed. No elevator to 2nd floor. Nice decor.
Staff very friendly, clean and breakfast was ample.
The rooms were pretty nice, but you could tell it was an older hotel that had been renovated with a few details not addressed well. One thing you need to know....there is no elevator in this hotel! If you are on the 2nd floor, you have to carry your bags up stairs.
There are no elevators and I had to lug all my stuff up the stairs. the door would not open properly. I went back down stairs and asked the front desk and she was like “oh that door is messed up, you have to turn the handle up and not down to get in” and then the plug didn’t work and my phone did not charge all night. Overall, the hotel looked nice just important features were not in order.
I dint like that the side entrance doors were never locked I walk in last to find a man passed out drunk on the floor. When the staff came to get him they told him if he didn’t have a room he could sleep in the lobby????????
I really enjoyed the continental breakfast tgat was served. The hotel could've been cleaner and the smoking areas were right next to the doorways.
Unsecured and Noisy
The loud crowd of people hanging outside of the hotel is a No No and leaving the door propped open all night is very unsecured to the people that’s staying..
I was kinda hoping for better conditions.Check in was fine when we was about to walk in the side door we thought we would have used the key but we was able to just walk straight in.We entered and it smelled like cigarettes and so much more(my kids was like omg what’s that smell)got in the room and everything from the walls to the bathroom just looked stained and dirty.Thankfully it was just for one night ,we will probably stay else where when we visit family again.
Not pleased
The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful. But the overall appearance of the hotel was not worth the money that was asked for a nights stay. The side doors of the hotel were unlocked, the hallway was not vacuumed. The rooms had a weird smell, the shower curtain in the bathroom had mold on it, the headboard was greasy, the furniture was scratched and dented. This was not worth the money that I spent. I will not stay there again.
Ok .
This NOT the old Comfort Inn; they have really stepped up their game!
My non smoking room smelled of of smoke over night each night. The toilet was not mounted firmly. Hotel hallway has an overall unpleasant odor. Would not stay there again.
Stayed five days. Had to go to front desk every afternoon to get the door key reactivate. Said it was the door but after the key was reactivated I could come and go the rest of the night and the next morning but come the afternoon. Key didn’t work. Very inconvenient. Room was cleaned but the smell of marijuana the whole time I was there was unreal.
Had lots of parking space and the area hotel at and lots of stores and resturants
nice place
This motel has friendly and helpful staff. I had to call to find it, though, as the GPS took us to a wrong place, and we were told that, for some reason, that happens a lot. Perhaps it has to do with the address that is confusing! Never mind, the motel had good amenities, comfy bed, fluffy pillows, and I loved the accessible, walk in shower with all the grab bars, as I have an invisible handicap and hanging on is high on my priority list! The breakfast spot was small but the breakfast was good, and you can take your food back to your room if need be. Loved so many TV channels to choose from for good entertainment after a day of sight seeing! It was quiet and a feeling of security!
Friendly staff, great breakfast
The staff was very friendly. The room looked to have recently been painted. It was comfortable and I enjoyed my stay. The breakfast was just right!
The hotel staff are very kind and professional. Unfortunately, the rooms have not been maintained well. It’s obvious that the furniture was updated but damages, peelings aid paint and scratches appears on everything....even the toilet seat looks melted. The bathroom floors was the worst...lots of dead bug left on the unswept and unmopped floor. The shower curtain was nasty at the bottom.
Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was fine. I would stay there again.
The tub wasn’t in the best condition, very unappealing
Good stay in Selma
everything was fine.
I did not like the breakfast at alll
No Complaints..at all
except for not having an elevator, I have no complaints, clean nice size room, fresh paint, great location, comfortable bed..would stay there again
Great hotel. Close to major events.
Pleasant, comfortable and professional. Would certainly stay here again.
It was okay
They upgraded the rooms. It wasn't bad although I got kinda annoyed with some of the other guest loud music. It settled and was able to get a goodnight sleep.
It was just okay. My only complaint is that the floor and steps of the pool were slippery and unsafe.
Never Again at Comfort Inn!
Very disappointed! We arrived late, 1:30 am, as we traveled 8 1/2 hours drom North Carolins. When we arrived the lobby was locked and nobody at the night window! Wrang the bell 3 times, in a 15 minute period. We then called the hotel 2 times and no answer. I then called Hotels.com to see of there was a solution to which they called 2 times and no answer! Hotels.com person transferred me to the resolution dept. Elle, outstanding customer service individual, also called the Comfort Inn 2 times and no response. Elle then searches the area for a room to accommodate us for the 3 day stay. Elle spoke with Josh at Holiday Inn Express in Selma. They secured a room for us!! Elle and Josh saved our trip!
Minimum provided
Poor pillows No kleenex in room Mildew on shower curtain—bad mildew Poor hang up arrangement—too low
Nice hotel for an overnight stay for road trip
Staff was pleasant and efficient. Room was clean and looked newly renovated. Would stay there again. Breakfast was very good.
We had a non smoking room but the room smelled very much like smoke.
Comfort Inn was very comfortable
I went to find someone to get the spill up and didn't find anyone, I clean the spill up with paper towels and about 10 minutes later a guy came around the corner looked in and didn't come in the area didn't speak or greet the guest so he came back again and I spoke and try to assist with clean the area. I was a hotel manager here in Atlanta Embassy and The Georgian terrace I want the staff to always present the best, for the hotel it causes return guest ... All shift must shine and not just the first shift.
Hotel appeared to be clean upon arrival, but later saw roaches in the bathroom. The bed my daughter slept in had bed bugs. The first nigjt, she only sustain about two or three bites. When she woke up after the second night, both arms and all around her neck was covered with bite, she was probably allergic to them because the site was swollen and red. We turned the covers back and we saw two crawling on the side of the mattress. Reported this to management, at first he said it might have been a ladybug, my daughter showed him her arms he then agreed it was bedbug bites. He stated that he was glad I reported it,to makeup for it,he deducted one night . He was truly apologetic, he call to let me know that I had left a small bed throw on my pillow, told him to just trash it,that I intentionally left it because I thought it might have bugs on it. That let me know that he did check it out right away. He apologize again.
Once in your room it's okay. Not in a great area and the night we were there the fire alarm got pulled as well as the police having to show up twice. Can't really hold that against the hotel, just saying...
Bad business experience Just would not listen or reason with my problem
Nice
Stayed for 2 nights. Was very pleased with everything from the check in to check out. Room very clean! Only negative is the ironing board needs replacing. Rusty and falling apart!
The Discomfort Inn
Although the hotel staff was accommodating, the smell in the guest bedroom hallway was atrocious. The layout of the bathroom was not effective. The room smelled stale and smoky, even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking room. I was so glad to get my family out of there.
Well maintained and comfortable
The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was good.
Not Happy
The first room I was sent to the a/c didn't work and it smelled so bad of cigarette smoke. I asked to move to another room which they facilitated. I could tell this room had been updated recently but why didn't she place me in this room to begin with. The hotel was empty !!! The walls are super thin. I could clearly hear my neighbor'a television and alarm clock. In addition someone was smoking in the room next to me and I could smell it in my room.
Very nice
3 stars but this was the best hotel in Selma
We stayed during a family crisis. It had a small odor to the room but this was the best looking hotel in Selma.
On the road last minute stay
Staff was friendly and helpful, hotel has a stale odor in the hallways, room does as well but not as bad as the common areas.
Would not return.
Certainly wasn't among the best, nor the worst hotels I've stayed. Room door was hard to open, Christmas decorations stored away next to stairwell (in April), no elevator, hotel had odd smell, breakfast eggs, obviously had been there a while. 2.5 of 5
clean and comfortable room
The room was great! Breakfast was not so great though; neither was the check in. They had no idea how to check me in and had to call several people to figure it out. I was super tired and had to wait for at least an hour to check into my room.
OK -
Expected more - hotel a little shabby
Not a safe place to stay!
We came in town for my father-in-laws funeral. All the other hotels in the area were booked. We got a great rate at this hotel through Hotels.com but although the rooms were clean and the beds were comfy, I did not feel safe at this hotel. First of all, the side doors did not close all the way and anyone could come in. That's exactly what happened. When I woke up on our third and final morning, there were two men asleep in the hallway outside my door! I would have had to step over them to leave my room. They didn't even move when I slammed the door shut in fear. I told my husband who called the front desk. They did nothing. So my husband called his cousin who was staying across the hall and they finally shooed them out. But when we went to complain at the front desk, the walked right in the front door and the person at the desk let them sleep on the chairs in the entry way! This was ridiculous! All of the guests eating breakfast could see them there just sleeping, and they slept there for over an hour! I would not recommend this place. Not safe!
Staff pleasant, room clean and business center was good.
For what it is its great. You don't get a 5 star hotel for 2 star pricing.
Good clean hotel, good price
Nicely updated rooms, clean and comfortable, good price. Can't go wrong with this place.
My room was very clean, very nicely appointed and comfortable.
A good choice
A deliberate journey to Selma with my choice of lodging most satisfactory. Extremely close to all necessary shopping and services.
very nice place quite clean.
Lacking in customer service.
A good value for your money, but desk staff was lacking. The whole time she was checking us in she was on her cell with o personal call giving someone advice on how to quit their job. At one point her friend seemed concerned that she wasn't listening to her and she assured her she was, "I'm just checking someone in." Glad we were high on her priority list. No eye contact and no explanation as to where our room was located. She then could give her full attention to her personal call. Fortunately there's a large map at the desk where I could note where to park and enter. Please apologize to her for our interrupting her call. The woman at the desk in the morning was much more personable, plus she was handling setting out breakfast. We appreciated her professional manner. On the positive side, room was clean and bed comfortable. However about midnight 2 or three people gathered on the bench below our window and talked loudly for about an hour making falling asleep impossible until they left.
A Gem named Katie
We were there for the weekend to attend a retirement party. Even though Selma is a small town, the staff at the Comfort Inn were very big on hospitality. We were warmly greeted by Katie at the front desk. She quickly checked us; although we arrived before check-in. Katie's favorite phrase was "it's no problem " and she meant it too as we soon found out. We noticed the stairwell as we were about to get our luggage. We didn't know the hotel was without an elevator and with two members of our party suffering from COPD and had recently been hospitalized; this was going to be a problem. No fear, Katie to the rescue again, as she swiftly changed our second floor rooms to the first floor. She surely made our stay a pleasure.
