Decent option if location is most important
The hotel is nice, decently walkable with a range of food and drink options nearby. Room is nice, although not many outlets. Unfortunately the service was a little lacking. Long wait times to get questions answered at the front desk or valet. Restaurants closing well in advance of the posted hours. It seems that in trying to create a vibe, the hotel has perhaps overlooked the fact that at its core this is a hotel hosting people from out of town.
LOVED that they had a Dyson hairdryer in the room! Overall space was small--not a lot of room to put luggage. Unique hotel with lovely art. Shower water leaked all over bathroom floor.
Good place and very convenient
Comfy beds, great shower
Hotel was very unique in its decor. Service was first class throughout.
Super accommodating staff. Took care of both early check in and late check out. Very helpful.
I chose the cheapest room QT Superior King and felt the room lacked some basic stuff - plates, cutlery, which made self-catering harder than it needed to be. The room may be ok for a business traveler who is dining out, but I wouldn't choose this room again. If, to get the basics, I need to pay more I'd look at other hotel options in Wellington as there's likely to be better value elsewhere.
Very cool artsy hotel. We really enjoyed our stay. Bathroom
We had an excellent stay on our wedding anniversary. The staff went the extra mile and we arrived to a bottle of chilled Prosecco and chocolates to help make our special day even better.
Convenient and efficient
The artwork in the hotel is amazing. You can walk to many excellent restaurants from the hotel as well as world class museums.
$450 - one chair. No pen & paper , no hooks
Loved the art was beautiful
Clean and comfortable bed
Great place, excellent service
Always well presented
Good stay
I was frustrated that there was no printed information about the hotel (time for checkout, how to call the front desk ("0" didn't work on the phone in the room. However, Angus (p.m. Concierge) went out of his way to help me. I went down to the desk after trying to place a call to my credit card company without success and just stood there - Angus turned to look at me and just said "How can I help you?" I had discovered that very few retail outlets took American Express and two days before I was to leave, my other credit card was blocked. I had found out that it is not possible to go to a bank to exchange money in NZ - and I had $25 NZD in my wallet. Angus and his helper found a traveler exchange and lent me some money after calling a taxi (we weren't sure that $25 would cover the trip). It is a cool hotel and I had booked the breakfast included - the selections were really good each morning.
Service and location to cbd
everything was fantastic
Quality venue fora great weekend exciting the capital city
Lovely property. Parking expensive.
Stylish stay
Unique arts style hotel, but lazy service from front desk staff lets it down a bit
good
We were at the QT gallery area but I felt the room is bit small with a King size bed. No area to lay down the luggage except put it on the bed. The hotel buffet breakfast is overpriced with no option. Not recommend to have breakfast in the hotel.
Loved the art work and just general vibe of this hotel. It's a gorgeous fit out and good value for money.
Very dim lighting in reception and corridors. Layout of bathroom difficult. Shower area was narrow, water from shower spread across the bathroom floor leading to a very slippery floor
Close to te papa museum. Not quite worth it for the price paid. Didn't feel like it was a highly rated hotel.
First the staff were very nice. The room small, dated, old carpet and floor to ceiling mirrors on walls! Horrible. Food in bar area poor. Had breakfast in main restaurant, dry chewy scrambled eggs and the print on the plate was something sexist from the 1970s!
Small and no view
Great service and everything, but very scary ambiance. Everything is painted black, making it dark and uneasy. The hallways are dark, as is the shower and room. The bathrooms are all mirrors, which makes going to the toilet very scary, as you can see all of yourself in the mirror.
A beautiful hotel in a great location! So close to everything. I just wish there were more hot food options for breakfast and restaurants were unfortunately closed for dinners
We left our bags with the concierge for part of the day after we checked out. When we returned they were sitting in a publicly accessible lobby area with no staff in sight. No one appeared while we were getting our bags and leaving with them. Anyone could have walked off with them.
It was good. Highly recommend
I’ve stayed at other QT Hotels in NZ and Australia, this QT Hotel (Wellington) does not meet the standard of the others. The rooms seem tired and in need of a major revamp/upgrade. Paint chips, W&T in the bathroom, curtains need a deep clean. Staff did not engage at all, it was as if they were told not to speak to the guests.
Nice location, average breakfast options, lengthy check in at 3pm
A few issues
No information sheet given on check-in. Pool was inaccessible due to wall height (I have bad knees). Hallways are dimly lit.
Great location.
We had a top floor room over looking the harbour, so the view was great but noisy on the balcony from the traffic. We were a bit disappointed that both resteraunts were closed during our stay, but it was nice to eat out anyway. The room had a nice bathroom with bath and shower, everything was top quality.
Nice hotel with easy access to the waterfront , a short 5 minute walk to central downtown
Average overall, the hotel is very tired and needs to be refurbished, room cleaning was late afternoon, fitness room was very hot, pool area not nice. The breakfast was good and staff were pleasant.
Beautiful venue, amazing staff, and great location. They really went above and beyond to make the stay memorable. Would recommend to everyone.
Beautiful harbourside hotel
Trendy city centre hotel
Decent hotel in good location for museums, restaurants and shops. Looking a little tired in places but good sized room, comfortable bed, nice little gym and helpful staff
Lovely central city hotel
Lovely stay at this beautiful hotel in central Wellington . Second time there and will definitely visit again
Good - Staff service, artwork/decor, location, bed size/comfort, bathroom (though slate floor very slippery), balcony view (though chairs not comfortable). Not so good - kitchenette where fridge couldn't fit a bottle of wine, no toaster, cutlery or plates. In room instructions absent especially TV. Only 1 inside comfortable chair. Kitchenette and furnishings are dated/minimal in context of $500 per night. No apparent recycling option.
Central, easy access to all the important places in Wellington, and excellent support.
Location
Enjoyed our stay. Very close to everything , within walking distance to most things. Wish we could have stayed longer
Very good
The staff and service were fantastic. Great facilities and the bed was a pleasure to sleep in. Easy to walk to the shies, shopping and Te Papa. Highly recommended
The hotel itself is fine but a few small issues made it a bit disappointing overall. During check-in, there wasn’t much info, we asked about the pool and they didn’t mention the spa wasn’t working. Went to go to the restaurant on the Sunday evening but it was closed when the website said it was open. The room was clean, the bed was comfy.
Always a pleasure staying at QT Wellington
Great stay but the breakfast was dreadful!
Unfortunately very dirty and stained bathroom, toilet blocked and carpet was covered in dirt. They sprayed the room before we entered to mask the smell. One of the worst rooms I’ve stayed in in wellington this year
Would not stay again
I was so looking forward to staying at this hotel as do love the brand. The hotel is shabby and really needs an overhaul. Generally it needed a good clean. Dusty surfaces, dead insects in display cabinets and this was all in the public areas. The restaurant upstairs was the same with the added chandeliers that clearly had not been cleaned for a year. The bathroom, had finger and hand prints all over the Mirror and the bed needs replacing. Did not get a good night sleep during my whole stay. Large dips in the mattress and the pillows have seen better days. The room was hot, and if you turned on, the air conditioning it was ridiculously noisy. Lots of chips on furniture throughout the hotel and just generally tired. Clearly Covid affected the property, but they should’ve done a very good clean before reopening. We had a terrible experience with the valet so probably would not recommend it for the extra expense.
Tad overpriced
Hotel room was pretty average for the price. We had to keep our curtains closed the entire time as the neighbour apartments could see right in. The bed was very uncomfortable. We enjoyed the art work and breakfast was great.
We ended up getting a refund and not staying here due to the room being very tired and dusty. For the price we were charged definitely not a 5 star.
Right next to Tākina Wellington!
Wonderful stay. Staff great and location was perfect!
breakfast no good plus service
not good Breakfast service was horrible
Only downer was the Hot Sauce Restaurant wasn’t worth the money spent.
Amazing room and facilities. Only thing is was expecting a buffet breakfast and it was set menu which was abit av.
I remember when this hotel as this hotel before Rydges took it over, and the staff were invariably competent and friendly. None of that now, they're corporate jobsworths, which ruins the whole atmosphere. Also, many of the rooms have been depersonalised into 'hotel standard'.
Great spot - quirky Hotel.
this place is a gem. it has amazing art, stylish rooms and is walkable to all the great places.
Not as good as other QT properties
Wellington QT is not on par with Auckland QT. Rooms were noisy and they seemed understaffed or inexperienced. Not the experience I’ve come to expect from QT. Improvement in service / staff and more attention to the little things would improve this property.
Great location but in need of maintenance
Great atmosphere
Room was tired it needs to be up dates . Well over priced for what you get .
Very good hotel in a convenient location. The staff were all very helpful, especially the reception staff Elizabeth, Ali and Angus. One small feedback .. get the aircon in the gym working please !
Beautiful hotel with Nice decoration and excellent room. Staff at front desk Nice but not very efficient. Breakfast capacity seems under full booking capacity
Loved the quirkyness (!) of the place. Hippopotamus restaurant was great.
The hotel rooms is a bit tired. The staff were friendly and the location was good
Seemed to be short of staff in the restaurant especially for breakfast, and those there were not always on top of the delivery of ordered food/drink. Unfortunately the toilet in the room, wasn’t working properly, so notified the front desk in the morning, but no one came to fix it. Overall a nice hotel, but not quite as sharp as it was 4 years ago
It’s a very stylish property in a great location. Wellington is a fabulous city and we were blessed with wonderful weather.
new year stay
excellent stay- great food and super room. 1st hotel we've found with a dysan hair dryer.. Handy for the town and the museum. Great art work too. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Disappointed
Great art at the hotel. Catering facilities very poor. Breakfast was unavailable limited, few pastries, salami, cheese and chia pudding. I wouldn’t mind that but quality was very unsatisfactory. Valet parking $40 per night. Staff at reception very helpful and kind. Pleasant surprise about bathroom toiletries by Kevin Murphy and Dyson hairdryer. Room was little bit dusty. Great location but wouldn’t stay again. Sorry guys it’s time to step up a bit.
Great stay at QT Wellington. Lovely well designed rooms. Staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel is made all the more special by having some wonderful and suprising pieces of NZ art.
It was very dark inside and the corners of the room were dirty. The mobimity parks were constantly used for other valet vehicles
Quirky hotel that was just what we were after. Lovely big room with balcony view over the bay. And a huge bath tub. Wish that bath robes had been provided as they would have been useful for trips to the pool and sitting out on the balcony at night.
First stay at QT and higgly reccomend. Definitely going to be the new favorite place to stay when in Wellington.
Loved the art work.
Great rooms and location
Really enjoyable stay
Great staff clean and comfortable hotel
The hotel was dirty and dusty, the room was not cleaned properly and very dark, cups and mugs dirty stained with previous drinks. Lots of items not working eg coffee machine, very late cleaning the room after 4pm and not really cleaned, bed just pulled up and floors not vacuumed, I cut my foot on a piece of glass in the carpet. Some of the lights didn't work and the bathroom sink did not drain away. Very poor and nothing like the pictures used, even with every light on it was still dark, obviously to hide the uncleanliness of the room!
Busy hotel during WOW shows
We were there for the WOW show so the hotel was super busy with guests. Paid valet parking but valet was often not at the concierge desk because he was away retrieving other people cars! Got breakfast included with the stay but the restaurant was slow in preparing cooked breakfast, waited 30 mins for a full breakfast. Went for a swim in the lap pool but only found small hand towels available in the pool area, couldn't find bath towels to dry off after a swim. Anyway, the hotel is close to the TSB Arena for the WOW show and the restaurants at Cuba Street so that is a plus point. Perhaps if we stay there not during WOW shows period, we will have better service.
All fantastic and welcoming!
I booked a room with a queen size bed and i got two single beds put together and was the most uncomfortable bed that i have ever slept in. To order food was also a challenge as you receive a QR Code which then you have to download an app on your phone and go through all the junk adds about the QT Hotels around Australia then you can order food. The saddest part was you have a phone in your room with numbers but no buttons for reception so i had to work out what number to press. Overall, would not stay there again
QT is getting sloppy
Overall QT use to be my preferred hotel but have recently had two average stays. Where the staff have been rude and sloppy. Prior to covid the staff were amazing but now are arrogant and should not be placed on Concierge (wellington) or FOH (Auckland) Please note that some staff still go above and beyond but some just are rude and it’s not providing a pleasant experience. I use to rave above this hotel but I won’t be now. Will be looking for else where. Also the breakfast was a two hour wait and we were asked to leave. Just overall not happy.
Visually stunning
Hotel is visually stunning. Room a good size and well stocked. Only issue was the heater in the room made such a terrible high pitched noise we left the room cold rather than deal Couple of suggestions, hooks for towels in bathroom to make more likely to be eco friendly. Makeup mirrors.
Quite different from other hotels stayed. Didn't much care for the dark atmosphere of the hotel. Hotel room and amenities were OK.
High tea was fabulous. Waiting over four hours to check-in was unacceptable, compounded by a failed promise to notify me by phone when room was finally ready. Bathrobes should be in the room without the need to wait half an hour for housekeeping to bring them. Finding the room service menu was difficult.
Easy check-in service and friendly staff.
They rate themselves as 5 star, I’ve stayed at a best western that’s far exceeds the QT Wellington. I was told by staff they have a fabulous spa. They absolutely do not I’d rate the spa, pool and gym facilities at 2.5. The excuse of covid and having less contact being the reason they don’t service the rooms daily is a total cop out. However you can request to have it cleaned if you’d prefer. If your going to do or say that at least take $ off the daily room rate. The only good thing about this hotel is it’s close to Courtney place,Te Papa and the water front. Outside of that it’s not a place I’d recommend to others Thanks AxAx
After I checked in, one of the staff just knocked on our door and swiped his card entered our room without permission. The next day when I checked out, I found out my credit card got overcharged for room service that I have never had before. I went back for refund and got told I have to wait for them to investigate so I ended up sitting at the lobby from 11:30am till 2:30pm for refund.
No daily housekeeping was a shame.
Great place to stay
The QT Hotel is a lovely place to stay. It is also a short walk to food places, Te Papa and the harbour area. It is also right next door to a new world supermarket. I stayed in an apartment with a kitchen so I had bought back takeaways to eat in the room. I have also ordered their room service. The food was great but due to delivery time, the food especially the chips got cold quickly but still lovely steaks. There is no room service due to covid restriction. The rubbish drawer does smell a bit after 6 days. You can call for services using an app but I haven't used it except for ordering room service. The only down side is, despite lots of wall lights, the room was still too dark for me to read a book on the sofa or at the desk. The only place I can read a book is on the bed with the LED head board light.
Great hotel with amazing facilities.
The hotel was extremely busy 2 hour wait for my room, the staff did their best to find me the best possible room. It's a beautiful designer hotel. Thank you for the great customer service.

Business trip
Quirky hotel but it just did not hit the mark for me. Hotel is very dark inside in both corridors and rooms. My room was covered in mirrors and had no real work space in it with a desk. Breakfast was average. Did not think it was up to scratch with the other QT hotels I have stayed in
