Property was centrally located.
The pool is a bit small but workable. The menu is overpriced especially the Christmas lunch😢. Be sure to put in enough supplies to cater for the number of people who booked for the room. Overall we had fun, we like the place and will definitely go back there. And big up to house keeping, you guys are doing an amazing job.
The hotel was pleasant and the staff were fairly friendly. There was an argument on arrival about a tourism levy that apparently wasnt added by hotels.com which eventually they said they would contact hotels.com about. The room was clean and neat. The food at the restaurant was really good and i enjoyed the meal. The breakfast was a bit difficult as there was no buffet as purchased, it was a case of you must tell them what you want and they will bring it to you but they couldnt give me a menu or list of what was available. During the course of the night there appeared to be some construction taking place in the hotel with what sounded like a hammer and chisel being used in the early hours of the morning.
Excellent customer service
The hotel was good but the staff definitely make the place.amazing service overall.
Comfort
Always clean
Awesome service
Friendly great service
Initial Receptionist (Lucinda??) was extremely cheerful, efficient and helpful. Pleasant poolside seating/relaxing area. Food was good.
Most Welcoming And Treatment Was Top Notch
Strange
Noise from other rooms is disturbing. I was called to reception in the evening to come and pay a measly amount for "tourism levy" which I found strange after already having paid online and checked in.
Business made pleasurable
Perfect hotel for a business trip to a town with not much in the way of accommodation of this standard. Friendly staff, excellent meals and a neat, very clean and comfortable room.

Accessibility and proximity to shopping centres and my childs school is what i liked mostwhat i did not like is the smell of kitchen food coming through to my my room
Lovely hotel
Clean hotel and comfy beds. Breakfast was good
Protea Hotel Mahikeng not recommend!
Arrived at Mahikeng Protea at 2:00pm on Saturday 29.06.19. Had booked 3 rooms 2 weeks prior to arrival. They searched online for our booking which took about 30min. We had to wait 2 hours for the rooms because they were not ready yet! While waiting we wanted to order refreshments. Had to wait for 45min. for someone to help us! Waited another 30min.to receive our refreshments. The waitress was not at all friendly. The bathroom in Room 103 was dirty and had not been cleaned. The light above the desk next to the bed was not working. I will not recommend the Protea to anyone.
Perfectly decent hotel for a day or two
Decent international type hotel, no bells and whistles (you have to request a fridge) but ok for a night or two.
Hotel is great when you’re in the Mafikeng area that doesn’t have a lot of options. Dinner (we ordered room service) was great with a good selection of wines. Breakfast was pretty average.
Great stay
Great
Special thank you to Archibald at reception for assisting with my check-in requirements.
Hotel was ok, impressed with cleanliness however service was not good. Breakfast was a disaster and very disappointing. It was very expensive for poor quality food!
Comfortable but service slippage
A little disappointed with the reactions of the hotel to problems I brought their attention to
Good quiet stay
Clean, comfortable, quiet and good food. Can't complain for a 4 star.
i am very happy
very nice
It works for the area
Fine for hotel for small, town, they should have warned about boilers and no hot water available before one booked/checked-in
Family wedding stay overnight
The property is well located within short driving distance of many areas..like shopping centres, sports fields, filling stations, fast food outlets, etc. Well secured, clean property and clean decore'd rooms, had shower and bath, great restaurant atmosphere, etc. Would recommend this hotel to friends and family
Enjoyable stay at Protea Mahikeng
Overall our stay was comfortable and enjoyable, especially that the hotel allowed us to check in slightly earlier. The lunch was great but took longer than we expected to prepare, and we were the only guests in the restaurant at the time.
Nice for business stopover
Protea is a brand which has excelled others is many countries. Please try to improve access to the Internet in the rooms///
The room wasn't ready for occupation when we arrived at 17h30. Toaster was not working and apparently hasn't been working for a while already.
nothing special and the hotel needs refurbishment
Super duper
it was very good
NOTHING FOR NOW
They were very welcoming with good food.
Nice hotel
Good stay no complaints
My first stay at this hotel
I appreciated that the non smoking room was indeed a non smoking room.
Generally pleasant
Overall it was pleasant to stay at Protea Hotel Mafikeng. The only issue was noise and smell on dagga smoke on the first night - coming from a group booking of guests in the hotel, staying on the same floor as us. Although the hotel is not to blame, the reality is this experience negatively affected our enjoyment of the hotel.
Excellent
Very good, no regrets of choosing Protea Hotel
Enjoyed our stay maybe you can have bar fridges in the rooms for your guests
Weekend in Mafikeng
The Hotel was great but offers little to support tourism. No maps, no local history, not able to provide directions to local sites or attractions. The town has little signs to assist the tourist. The Game Park is great but finding it is difficult - no signs, a hidden entrance. The Tourism Office is vacated. The Anglo-Boer sites are not marked and have no directions or information. The founding of the scout movement is not celebrated or known. The role of Sol Plaatje (founder of ANC) is not celebrated either - no sites, not even a marker on the office he worked in or the house he stayed in. The stories of the first woman war correspondent are lost. The Museum is closed. The history of the people in this area is not available - their political economy unknown. The separation from Bechuanaland, the role of Rhodes, not known. The town is poor with rubbish lining streets and the perimeters of parks or public spaces. Services casino goers and golfing weekenders only. Government offices look modern as is the University campus. The shopping malls are under construction but do have some functioning shops which provide the usual. There are few restaurants with only a few chains to choose from (boring). Staff in malls and restaurants from Zim, Bots and farther afield does make one wonder what has become of the locals. Travel 60 km in most directions you will find better places to stay and visit.
Short and not so pleasant stay
The front desk efficiently dealt with our booking. The room was clean but maintenance seems poor. The shower tap is broken the desk needs attention. The service at the restaurant is poor. There was no one to sit us down, the tables were not clean, and the food was undercooked and simply not tasty.
Fantastic service
Staff: friendly and approachable. Facilities: good and clean. Stay: quite, peacefull and enjoyable. Service: excellent
Excellent....however assistance with luggage wold enhance service offering
Pleasant hotel.
